Please help!! clickable String

Lets say that I have this string:
strCheckFailure = "You must visit http://www.somesitehere.com to complete your request.";
I would like to be able to change the color of http://www.somesitehere.com to blue and also attach a mouseListener event only to this particular substring.
Afterwards I want to be able to add that String to
JOptionPane
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, strCheckFailure, "Application encountered an error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
Does anyone know how to do that?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

So second also create a Object and so the same,but if we create another variable (with out new) with same content "v" both will share the same reference. am I right on this.

    like size as a string and then make the string size a doubleThink he means blank.
    Check the Wrapper classes (Double, Integer) in the api.
    parseInt() parseDouble() both take a string and return a primitive.
    String s = null;
    if(s == null) should do the trick!

  • Troubled with PreparedStatement, please help

    Hello all:
    Here is a seemingly too simple a problem which is already taking my day. Please help.
    String x=null;
    String querry1 = null;
    String querry2 = null;
    ResultSet rs = null;
    Statement st = null;
    PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
    try {
    st = conn.createStatement();
    //MAKE FIRST QUERRY
    querry1 = "SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE (a= ? OR b = ?)";
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(querry1);
    pstmt.setString(1, userInput);
    pstmt.setString(2, userInput);
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    while(rs.next()){
    //Process the result set.
    //The value of x is one of the values in the result set.
    //Hence get it.
    x = rs.getString("C");
         }//end while
    //No problem up to here.
    //For check, output the value of x
    System.out.println(x); //correct non-null value is displayed
    //MAKE SECOND QUERRY based on the value of 'x'
    querry2 = "SELECT * FROM table2 WHERE C= ? ";
    //Table 1 and table 2 have a common column C.
    //I want to retrieve the value from table 2 for which C=x;
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(querry2);
    pstmt.setString(1, x);
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    //The problem is that in this 2nd querry, SQL error is caught, with the message
    "java.sql.SQLException: Illegal operation on empty result set"
    //whereas it should have produced a valid value.
    //When the querry is formed explicitly (as follows), there is no problem. Result set is OK.
    //when the value of x is "mystring", then the follwoing 3 lines work
    pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(querry2);
    pstmt.setString(1, "mystring");
    rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
    Please teach me what the hell I'm not getting here.
    Thank you.

    I would have thought you'd get this exception:
    "java.sql.SQLException: Illegal operation on empty result set"
    because you're trying to call something like:
    rs.getString("foo");on an empty ResultSet. You can test whether the ResultSet has any rows as ResultSet.next() returns a boolean value, i.e.:
    if (rs.next())
        rs.getString("foo");
    }So the question is why is your second ResultSet empty? Maybe the value of C you are getting from table1 has leading/trailing whitespace that is not in table2?

  • Not able to convert string attribute to number and date please help me out

    not able to convert string attribute to number and date attribute. While using string to date conversion it shows result as failure.As I am reading from a text file. please help me out

    Hi,
    You need to provide an example value that's failing and the date formats in the reference data you're using. It's more than likely you don't have the correct format in your ref data.

    The correct way to handle this is to use bind variables.
    And use DBMS_XMLGEN instead of DBMS_XMLQUERY :
    create or replace procedure temp (
      p_mtr_id       in varchar2
    , p_from_date    in date
    , p_through_date in date
    is
      l_xml   CLOB;
      l_query VARCHAR2(2000);
      l_ctx   dbms_xmlgen.ctxHandle;
    begin
      l_query:=  'SELECT
        a.s_datetime DATETIME,
        a.downdate Ending_date,
        a.downtime Ending_time,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(a.downusage,3),''9999999.000'') kWh_Usage,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(a.downcost,2),''$9,999,999.00'') kWh_cost,

    while(rs.next())
    pwd=rs.getString("password");
    System.out.println("pmfg is..."+pwd);
    System.out.println("first string..."+pwd);
    System.out.println("second string..."+loginpwd);

    System.out.println("true.....");
    else
    System.out.println("false....");

    once you got two string objects ......forget for where they are comming (database or html0 ....focus on those objects ....do the following
    1) use trim() function on both strings which removes the whitespaces from front and end
    2) use equalsIgnoreCase
    if the problem still persists ....then forget your code and sue the SUN people

  • String problem please help

    please help...
    String aa, bb, cc,dd;
    aa="123456789";
    bb="23";
    cc="78";
    actually i want to cut off some special words in a String
    i use
    int ak3=aa.indexOf(bb);
    int ak4=aa.lastIndexOf(bb);
    dd=aa.substring(ak3,ak4);
    i want the result of dd is 14569
    is there any problem
    please help

    Here is a better version of the code I posted earlier. This version ensures that bb and cc are contained within aa.
    The following case will still cause a problem...
    aa = "123456789";
    bb = "34";
    cc = "45";
    cc will not be found because the removal of bb took out the 4 needed to complete cc.
    public class MySubString
        public MySubString()
        public static void main (String [] args)
            String aa = new String ("123456789");
            String bb = new String ("88");
            String cc = new String ("23");
            String dd = aa;
            if (aa.indexOf(bb) >= 0)    // check to see that bb is contained within aa
                // use parts of aa from beginning of aa to beginning of bb as well as
                // end of bb to end of aa
                dd = aa.substring(0, aa.indexOf(bb)) + aa.substring(aa.indexOf(bb)+bb.length());
            if (dd.indexOf(cc) >= 0)    // check to see that cc is contained within dd
                // use parts of dd from beginning of dd to beginning of cc as well as
                // end of cc to end of dd
                // use dd in this section, because cc may appear before or after bb in aa
                dd = dd.substring(0, dd.indexOf(cc)) + dd.substring(dd.indexOf(cc)+cc.length());
            System.out.println(dd);
    }

  • Adding "\b" to a string. Please help!

    I can't get to add "\b" (backspace) to a string.
    When I try to print the string, "\b" shows up as a square.
    It's a java applet, and import is "import java.applet.*;"
    Please help fast, I appreciate greatly!

    I can't get to add "\b" (backspace) to a string.Why would you want to? Why not just delete the last character?
    When I try to print the string, "\b" shows up as a square.Print it on what? Clearly on something that doesn't understand backspace.
    It all seems pointless to me.
    It's a java applet, and import is "import java.applet.*;"Entirely irrelevant except that it tells us this is a GUI, and GUIs don't understand backspaces, and you don't 'print' to a GUI, you display, and why you aren't just deleting the final character remains a mystery.
    Please help fastThe speed of the responses here depends on other people's time allocations, not yours.

    this code basically takes an input of string like " 179 84 48 48 155 " (with spaces)
    then it creates smaller strings in an array like "179","84","48","48","155" without the spaces
    then it creates int values 179,84,48,48,155 and finally after some math functions it prints the corresponding letters.

    can any help it out in this senario.

    Sorry Butterbean, but I'm interested in the answer to your question myself.
    I've spent a few hours transfering my library from one computer to another and then find out that my ratings didn't transfer. Like you, I've spent many hours rating my 2000+ songs. I'm sure you have more, nevertheless, I want to find out how to get those ratings. They still show in my iTunes on my laptop but, when I go to the iTunes folder and display the details of at song, no rating is there. If you find out how to get them to display there in the iTunes folder, it seems that would be the key.
    Hope you get your answer soon.

  • Please, help .. return not working. string can not be resolved to a variabl

    Greetings..
    I am writing a Java code that encrypt a String using DES. After encryption, I want to return the String, but I get error that says: variable can not be resolved. Please, help me to find out what is the problem ?? Thanks in advance.
    Here is the code:
    import javax.crypto.*;
    import java.security.*;
    public class Client {
         public String DESEncrypt(String cardnum)
              try{
              //create cipher object for DES
              Cipher c=Cipher.getInstance("DES");
              // craete the symmetric key for DES
              KeyGenerator kg=KeyGenerator.getInstance("DES");
              Key key=kg.generateKey();
              // DO the ecryption steps then display the result
              c.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, key);
              //Dofinal accepts byts only. Thats why we use getbytes method.
              byte[] cardNoBytes=cardnum.getBytes("UTF8");
              //get the encrypted bytes
              byte[] encryptedCardNoBytes=c.doFinal(cardNoBytes);
              //convert bytes to string
              String cardNoString=new String(encryptedCardNoBytes);
              } catch(Exception e){ System.out.print("Error");
              return cardNoString;
         } //end the DESEncrypt method
    public static void main (String[] args) {
    try{
         Client cl=new Client();
         String x2=cl.DESEncrypt("123");
         System.out.println("The Encrypted text using DES is: " + x2+'\n');
    } catch(Exception e){ System.out.print("Error");
    }//end main
    }

    Next time, paste in the exact, complete error message and indicate clearly exactly which line is causing it.
    Your problem is that you declare cardNoString inside the try block, but you try to return it outside. Local variables only exist in the narrowest block in which they're declared. Once you exit try, that variable does not exist.
    You also have a logical problem. If an error occurs, you're just printing out :"Error", but you're not actually handling it. You're going on as if everything is fine. Catching an exception doesn't fix the error. If you can't fix it, don't catch it.
    What do you think your method will return if an exception occurs before you set cardNoString? What do you think it will do to the caller to have some arbitrary, meaningless value returned when he thinks everything went fine and he got a valid result?
