Please help me Automate an Aperture/Photoshop workflow

I'm trying to streamline the process of exporting a RAW file from Aperture to Photoshop for editing and then re-importing it into Aperture. I have zero experience with Automator, but someone else on the Discussions site was kind enough to share hte Automator process he uses for this.
Problem is, I can't get mine to work (or I don't know how to make it work).
I created a folder called "Photoshop-IN" where I would export the RAW files from Aperture that need editing. Then I created a folder called "Aperture-IN" where the completed Photoshop files would be exported for re-import into Aperture. Then I created this workflow:

I think the workflows are correct, but I don't know what to do at this point. The original poster said something about making them "watched folders", but I have no idea what that means or how to do that.
To test the workflows, I tried exporting a RAW photo from Aperture to a "Photoshop-IN" folder. Then I opened Automator and clicked the play button for the designated workflow. It tells me it executed properly, but nothing happens. The CR2 file wasn't opened in Photoshop, is still in the folder, and didn't get moved to the trash.
I also tested the other workflow (getting PSD file back into Aperture), and that doesn't seem to be working either. With this workflow, I get the following message. "Aperture got an error. Some parameter wasn't understood. (-1715)".
What am I doing wrong? I realize that this might be pretty far off topic, as it is more a question of how to use Automator and possibly AppleScript. But any help would be appreciated, including direction to some resources where I could learn more about Automator (the help section is woefully inadequate!)

Your PS-in workflow is too complex, all it needs is a Finder action to open in PS:

Then File>Save as Plug-in..., choose 'Folder Actions' and then where it asks what folder to attach it to, navigate to your folder. Now, every file that is copied, moved or saved into that folder will be opened in PS.
The import into Aperture workflow is mostly OK, but you are passing a folder from the first action, not files. Try adding a 'Get Folder Contents' action just after the first action. With a bit of jiggling around and using the two actions of that workflow you should be able to save it as a folder action.

Basically these export a RAW file out to a watched folder (as you are trying to do), but instead of saving it out and re-importing into Aperture, a duplicate file is made in Aperture by using 'Open in external editor' and saving the converted file into that.

Please Help me Print 4x6 in Photoshop!

I want to print out my photos on Canon 4x6 Photo Paper Plus Glossy on my IP4200 using Photoshop. The Easy Photo Print Plus program that came with the printer works, but it's PowerPC and I would rather use Photoshop.
I can't figure out how to print properly on 4x6. Can someone please help me and lay it out step by step?

Run /Applications/Utilities/Printer Setup Utility
Click [Add]
Click [More Printers]
Select the Printer Interface (i.e. AppleTalk, Bluetooth or Windows)
Under [Printer Model] select Canon
In the window that opens scroll and find your Model # and select it, click [Add]
(If you have a CD with drivers on it you may need to install these if not available in the menu)
Quit Printer Setup Utility
In Photoshop go to File/Print and the Canon should be there.

Hey. I have never used automater and don't know how to use it but I was wondering the extent of it capabilities. What I really want it to do is log me onto facebook and send something every hour. Is that possible. With those familiar with facebook, I'm trying to send schrute bucks to a friend. We're in a contest among friends.

The same thing happens to me when I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 on my Gateway (Windows XP Home, SP2, 512 RAM). However, once I get the error message, and open another QuickTime file, the browser displays a "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close," and shuts down MSIE. Please help!

Could you please help, in clarifying my view on Workflow(MSMP) in AC. I have mentioned below, my understanding.

- Rule id is created on BRF+, and this Rule id contains Path(s) and their Rule Result(s). I have created 1 Rule Result, for a New/Change account.
- after creating this Rule Id, i open MSMP, and the Rule Id appears against the Process Id, in Step1. I am not using any Escape path, so as to have my first workflow creation simple.
- In Step 2, the Rule ID is Result is given a Trigger value description. So, i provide a description, for my Rule Result.However could you please say, the usage of this Trigger value, except that, it proivdes Description of the Rule result
- then i go to Step 5 , for creating Path, Add a Path-> Add a stage (GRAC_SECURUTY). Since, this is for testing purpose, i am not giving GRAC_ROLEOWNER/GRAC_MANAGER. I just want a workflow to be completed for New/Chnage Account request.
- I do not maintain Agents or Variables & Templates.
- In route Mapping, I assig the Path to the Rule Id, Then i generate the version, and it is created succesfully.
So, from the above steps , i understand that When a user raises a New/Change Request(eg. process ID: SAP_GRAC_ACCESS_REQUEST), the Rule ID is identified , from Step1. Then the Rule result is identified from Decision Table( in BRF+). Then the Rule Result identifies the path from Step 'Route mapping'. Aftre Path is identified, it travels through the Stages, defined in 'Maintain Path'
Therafter , the Security team or Role Owner can provison the request.
Please let me know, about my understanding.

I wrote a piece about explaining how MSMP works with the mappings. It might help clarify your understanding: MSMP - Multi Step Multi Process – GRC’s answer to Workflow Configuration Flexibility
When you submit a request each type has a Process Id. In the case of an Access Request that is the SAP_GRAC_ACCESS_REQUEST. The webdynpro has a heap of code that finds that process id and goes to look at the MSMP configuration.
The very first item to be executed is the Initiator rule. Each Process Id can only have one active Initiator Rule as it is mapped (visible on Step 1 of the MSMP). If you have created a BRF+ Initiator Rule then it will go and execute it. Initiator Rules are designed to handle multiple scenarios (hence the results).
In your BRF+ you would have specified the possible combinations (again look at my post). In MSMP Step 2 for the Initiator rule for Rule Results you need to tell the MSMP how to handle each value that the BRF+ rule might return. As a result, you have to map each value. The description won't matter much except as meaningful information.
After you finish Step 2, you then need to go over to Step 6 to maintain the routings. This is where you have to tell the MSMP which Path the rule result should go to for the Initiator Rule. After that you jump back to Stage 4 for Paths/Stages to maintain them.
This mapping assumes that you are not building any new Agents or Paths. If you were to build a new Path and Stages you would have to configure them first and then go to Step 6 to map them

Making an HDR document Aperture-Photoshop workflow experiment, any takers?

I tried this recently but failed and I'm trying to figure it out.
So, is anyone interested in a 32-bit HDR test using Aperture and Photoshop CS2? I think this feature is revolutionary in Photoshop CS2 and hope Aperture will have something like it in a future update/upgrade.
The takers will have to have Aperture (duh) and Photoshop CS2 (duh).
1. Take an image in Aperture.
2. Make about 8 versions of the image.
3. Make 4 that are incrementally over-exposed,
4. Now make 4 that are incrementally under-exposed.
To achieve this:
Make 8 identical Versions.
Select each image (version) and open the Adjustments Inspector , select Exposure and click up into the + range and then select the next image and do the same but up a notch to a higher over-exposed level, continue this until each image is slightly over-exposed from the previous image.
Now select the next 4 and under-expose them into the - range using the same methodology as described above.
At the end you'll have 8 images (versions) that have a wide exposure value. Utilizing the same Master image with different versions having individually different exposure values. Some very dark to some very light.
Export each version as a "PSD - Original Size (16-bit)" file and "Include Metadata" checked into a folder on your Desktop or other hard drive.

the only way to export and maintain the EXIF metadata the version has to be PSD and not a TIFF.)
In order for this to work Photoshop has to see and recognize the EXIF data. Open Photoshop CS2 and make a new HDR document, browse Photoshop to the folder with the images from Aperture. Make the new 32-bit HDR document.
Did Photoshop make a new 32 bit HDR document?

Yes, me too, I was getting the same error message about not having enough dynamic range or as you say joshua it sees the same EXIF settings for all of the shots.
Nevertheless, what I want to do is bracket the exposure levels (f-stop/aperture) and leave the shutter speed alone the way it is done with a camera and tripod but instead do the bracketing within Aperture (the application) and then send the photos (Versions) to the HDR feature in Photoshop CS2.

hi there, why not use an Object Oriented Database, a good example is Oracle, you could embed the database and use JSQL for connectivity, in this way you will not have to define a name in the ODBC..infact ODBC wont be used here....Check out Oracles OO Database and another example is Jeevan Database, more info http://www.w3apps.com/ ....

Upgrades for Mac App Store versions are only normally available for the current version although PSE11 is not on the store AFAIK.

Can someone please help me with scanning with Photoshop elements 13?

I have been scanning pictures with no problem with Elements 13 but all the sudden any picture I try to scan it tells me "Nothing imported File or Folder to import did not contain any supported file type or file already exists in catalog." I know these pictures do not already exist because they are new to me. What do I need to do to correct this?

Please help I need advice about photoshop software!

Hello there photoshop users! So I am semi new to using photoshop. I havnt purchased software yet because I want to make sure I purchase the right one. My plan is to take the photos I have taken and edit them to make into t-shirts. For example...I have this picture of me as the Queen of hearts for Halloween and I want to make it look like i'm actually in wonderland. I also want to take images from the internet and contstruct interesting photos. Which photoshop software would be best for me? I'm excited to start this new hobby I just need some good advice. I hope by »take« you mean »purchase« or »use only within the bounds of so-called fair-use«.
I have no experience with Photoshop Elements but supposedly that has Layer and masking capabilities, too.
So, while I personally would recommend Photoshop, you could just download the free 30-day-trials for both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements to see which one meets your needs.
And Gimp has been getting some positive mentions, so if you want to go with freeware that would be another option – again I have no experience with that.

I have aperture 2 (licensed volume) already installed and when I tried to install this aperture 3 trial version install, I have got this message "A licensed copy of Aperture has already been installed in the Applications folder. To install the Aperture 3 Trial, rename your existing copy of Aperture, then run this installer again." And when I tried to rename Aperture under this application folder to Aperture 2, I have got this message "You do not have sufficient access privileges to rename the item "Aperture" ", even though I m the admin user by checking "System Preference" >> "Accounts". Realli appreciate if anyone can explain how to install aperture 3 trial version with Aperture 2 installed, steps by steps clearly. and how to work around with the Aperture library when Aperture 3 is installed with Aperture 2 already installed. You have a permissions problem with your applications folder. There are multiple ways to fix this, if you read up on repairing permissions.
The easiest solution is to just Duplicate your Aperture 2 application instead of renaming it. (highlight it and press command-D). You'll get "aperture copy" and you will have permission to change its name.

I am developing a project in which the rows inserted before two months should be deleted automatically. I have a date column in my table. I wrote a PL/SQL stored procedure that deletes the rows that are two months old. Now I can able to delete the rows only if I manually call the stored procedure. But my question is how to call the procedure on a daily basis automatically, so that the rows are checked and deleted daily.

Tony is right. What camera (make and model)? Mac or PC? Which version of Lightroom (5.0? 5.3?) Are you downloading from the camera or from a card reader?

Please help for Oil Paint In Photoshop CS6

I am using windows 8 32-bit ..
when i select the oil paint in filter ..it's says like this
when i go back to the performance there is no option to select ...i updated driver(with Driver Reviver software) but i didn't get this in graphic processor!!

There is no new driver from manufacture's site !!
And also lighting effects can't select it !!

All you can do is contact Intel and ask how to update the driver.
But if I recall correctly, that old chipset won't support the GPU features anyway (too underpowered).
