Please help: opmn start failed

Hello,
I have the following problem with the opmn:
I have installed Oracle 10g Database in HPUX 11.11 from the disc "Database". It works OK, I can start my database instance "orademo" with dbstart and stop it with dbshut. If it is running, I can connect to it without problems.
Then I have installed Oracle 10g Database Products from the disc "Companion" without problems.
Then I tried to install Oracle 10g Database Companion Products. The installation seemed to proceed OK except of the following two messages: "File not found ...(emca.1.1.jar)" at approx. 76% of the status bar and "Error invoking target 'nmo nmb'..." at approx. 95%. I have clicked on "Continue" in both cases and the installation went up to the screen, "Configuration Assistants". The first of the two actions, OC4J Configuration Assistant, succeeded. The other one, "Starting HTTP Server", failed. Then I have canceled it, performed the root.sh script, and the last screen, "End of Installation" appeared. When I closed this, I could see the following message in the terminal:
Exception : class java.sql.SQLException Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
Could not retrive nls_lang from database
Then I tried to start HTTP server manually but I obtained the following error messages:
bash-2.05b$ /export/ora10gcomp/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...
Pthread internal error: message: __libc_reinit() failed, file: /ux/core/libs/threadslibs/src/common/pthreads/pthread.c, line: 1155
Return Pointer is 0xc003a497
/export/ora10gcomp/opmn/bin/opmnctl[3]: 21149 Quit(coredump)
Pthread internal error: message: __libc_reinit() failed, file: /ux/core/libs/threadslibs/src/common/pthreads/pthread.c, line: 1155
Return Pointer is 0xc003a497
/export/ora10gcomp/opmn/bin/opmnctl[7]: 21150 Quit(coredump)

/export/ora10gcomp/opmn/bin/opmnctl[9]: 21152 Quit(coredump)
opmnctl: opmn start failed
bash-2.05b$
Then I checked all Oracle 10g requirements, namely required HPUX patches, unistalled and reinstalled the Oracle 10g Database Companion Products repeatedly, checked the connection to the database by SQL Plus etc. ... but the problem was always the same.
Note: I installed Oracle 10g (including Database Companion Products) also in Windows XP and in Fedora Core 3 and I never encountered a problem like this. Everything runs correctly in these other operating systems.
Would somebody help me?
Thanks in advance!
Vaclav

Hi,
Thanks for the replay. I am doing the installation once again. Now I am not facing OPMN problem.
Now I am facing some another problem. That DBCA fails to create infrastructre metadata respository database. Why it is happening?

Mat.

    Please help, Borut

I didn't started any component as root, but I can't finish installing AS 10.1.4.0.1 on Solaris 10 (x86). Tried many times, reinstalling everything, including the OS.
When I change the log level from 4 to 9, I can see the exact same error messages as you do.
But the only failing component to me is HTTP_Server.
No logs under $OH/opmn/log or $OH/Apache/Apache/logs.
OID and OC4J_SECURITY components are just fine.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Try removing the Genius database.  In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

Sorry, but I don't know anything about that app.
I did go to their Web site and I see they have a support link. Perhaps you can get help there or in their forum.
If you are OK with a DVD with a basic menu, you could try the Share>DVD option in FCP.
    Good luck.

  • OPMN start failed - but I can see opmn -d running via ps -ef

I am trying to figure out why I keep getting the message OPMN start failed when trying to start OPMN. The thing I don't understand is why I can see the processes opmn -d running when I look via ps -ef.
If I run the opmnctl startall command once more then everything comes up and no error messages.
    Any Ideas?

    I had the same isssue.
Unix Solaris 10, Oracle Application Server 10gr2
After starting the infrastructure database and listener the issuing of opmctl startall (starting HTTP Server, OID, OC4J_SECURITY) failed with opmnctl: opmn start failed from time to time.
In addition, when starting the application server processes (Forms Container...) the processes will rereive a timeout and die later.
Reading the server logs (e.g. $ORACLE_HOME/dcm/logs/emd_logs/log.xml) on the infrastructure but also on the application server delivered :
oracle.ias.repository.schema.SchemaDescription: Unable to establish connection to the Oracle Internet Directory Sever
I came to the impression that the database listener process potentially was not yet fully initialized to receive requests
from the upstarting infrastructure processes due to the fact that the commands will get issued in a startup-script.
Solution : after starting the listener (before starting up the infrastructure processes) I entered sleep 10 (wait 10 seconds) in the startup-script, the problem is gone by now...

i want to get rid of everything in itunes , music, movies etc and start afresh. Ive deleted all old libraries but still there is stuff in iTunes. Please help me start afresh?

Please do not delete any files from the HDD without having a current backup.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say you've "deleted all old libraries." Can you explain that?
If all you are wanting to do is empty the iTunes library of all music, video playlists, etc. the easiest way is to quit iTunes and, in the Finder, go to ~/Music/iTunes and simply move the .itdb, .itl and .xml files to the trash. Launch iTunes again and the library will be empty.
You should be prompted to add content, so you can let iTunes scan the HDD if you like.

  • Failed to get IP address for Local Host (2) , OPMNCTL: opmn start failed

    HI,
Hi, I have installed on Oracle 10g on Redhat Enterprise Linux V.2.1 . I was able to start OEM without any issues. Recently I had changed the static IP address and I couldn't able to start OPMNCTL and getting the following error while starting opmnctl start. error message is as follows.
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
Failed to get IP address for local host(2).....
my current configuration in /etc/hosts file is as follows.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain servername
After going through some of threads available in Oracle, I have added the static IP address in the /etc/hosts but still I am getting the same error.
my new hosts file is as follows.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain servername
    10.21.253.102 localhost.localdomain servername
I don't know why this is looking for localhost (2). I did not set up any local host (2) and I could not see anything in my network confiuration also.
could you please help me in this issue? I appreciate your help in this regard.
    Thanks
    venkat

Hi, i think that the application server part is looking for a /etc/hosts entry
    in this format:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
As i noticed, this is used for internal communication.
Try this entry as is, without a domain...

  • PLEASE HELP: Weird Start Up Screens

    I have a powerbook G4 that I bought about 2 years ago.
It's running on OS X and just like 2 days ago it suddenly started to lag A LOT. I first noticed after noticing this with my itunes, with songs pausing and resuming very erratically.
But the main problem is the slow startup that I have been experiencing. I don't even get the APPLE logo without getting:
    1. A blue background with a globe in a square icon that flashes.
    2. Then a Finder logo in a folder icon...
    3. Then a folder with a question mark in it...
THEN, I finally get the APPLE logo and it gives me the login screen which loads really slow as well.
This is the first major problem I've had with my powerbook, and I'm really just a newbie MAC user. I've tried using onyx, but it just made the startup process longer.
    PLEASE HELP.

what if it doesn't recognize your hard disk? the same thing happened to mine and i was told to run a disk repair, so i did. it worked for a while but crashed again. i've had my computer for a little over a year. i did it again- it didn't recognize the hard disk so i did other things like hold down shift- that didn't work. i held down the option key- didn't recognize. i opened the disk utility and it was miraculously there. so i ran a disk repair again. it worked for a day and then crashed again and now this time, it has the world icon. i tried over and over all those things but the macintosh hd icon hasn't come up at all in the disk utility. why isn't it being recognized and if i go in and try to fix my computer, will everything erase or will i be able to save my files?

  • Please help me start Tomcat

    hi,
Im really struggling here. This is very frustrating. I need to write code and be able to test it, not just read read read from a book. I went to:
    http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.0-doc/setup.html,
    and that never helped.
I just dont know how to get it up and running. Please help someone.

I just dont know how to get it up and running. And what's the problem ?
Which error messages do you get ?
What does the log file say?
The usual way to get tomcat running is:
    - Unpack the downloaded tomcat archive.
    - if necessary set the environment variables JAVA_HOME, CATALINA_HOME
    - look into the $CATALINA_HOME/conf directory and check if a server.xml exists
    - if necessary rename one of the server-*.xml files into server.xml
    - in a command shell run "catalina.bat (or .sh) run" or even tomcat.exe
    - try to access the default or jsp-examples pages
    - if that works
    - create a war file from your project
    - put the war file into the directory $CATALINA_HOME/webapps
    - to be sure restart tomcat.
    - try to access your start page.

  • Please help, school starts tommorow and this teacher can't connect Network

Hi, just returned to my work at school and I am having a problem connecting to the network at school as I'm a teacher. I just bought a MacBook Pro after 'donating' my ibook G4 to my wife . However, I cannot seem to access the schools network which I use to before on my ibook G4. I did, on the G4, use DAVE to connect and that worked fine. However, I have read and heard that in Leopard and with the MacBook Pro you don't need anything to connect to a PC network. So, after reading this I looked in the finder and, sure enough, I see the "shared" tab with "all". So when I click on "all" I SEE the network I can connect to. HOWEVER, when I double click on the file server I want it says "connection failed". I've even tried to use the DAVE 7.0 to connect (trial version) but that seems to have same issues as well. It mounts the file server but when I click on it it says "connection failed" as well. I tried to go into finder and to "Go" and then "connect to server" but what do I put in this field? whatever I type in this field, it adds an "afp:
" in front of it and says "connection failed". I even went into Terminal and pinged the network and it does that fine..so I'm perplexed..is there something I am not doing? Please help as it's first day of classes tomorrow and I really need to marry up with the network here! Thanks for any help ahead of time!

Hey..thanks for advice..I just got this email from DAVE who mentioned something interesting about Leopard..not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. Anyway, I found I don't even need DAVE if I use their advice (and yours) and do it within Leopard. check it out:
There are a couple of issues with using the side bar and DAVE. Mac OS X 10.5 defaults to not displaying mounted volumes on the desktop. In order for mounted volumes to display on the desktop, you have to change a Finder preference, here is how,
    - Click on Finder and select Preferences
    - Click on the General icon and check the box labeled, Connected servers
    - This will allow mounted volumes to display on the desktop
"There is an also issue with Mac OS X 10.5, that will not allow a user to connect to a network server from the side bar, or be able to access the contents of mounted volumes from the side bar (when you select the volume it shows Connection failed). Basically, you will not be able to use the side bar, until the problem is resolved.
The best way to access the contents of a mounted volume is to double click on the desktop icon. There are a couple of other workarounds for the issue, You can change Finder Preferences so that the user's computer is listed in the side bar. Selecting the computer will show a volume list which includes mounted volumes.
You can save an alias of the remote volume in the dock instead of the sidebar. Dock items function properly."
The funny thing is it works when I mount the volume to desktop but the sidebar doesn't work! Is this a Leopard thing? Weird...anyway, adding it using the Go and Connect to server with IP address works now...too bad the sidebar doesn't work though...thoughts?

  • Somebody anybody please help! start  up hangs

I recently installed internet on my g5(10.3.7)every thing was fine for a couple days. One day I turn on the comp and it said some updates were avalible,Security updates.Like a moron I did it.Every thing was fine till the next day I turned my g5 on.It intitilizes with the blue bar and says something about firewall and connecting to internet(even when no internet connection is present. It lastly says "starting login window" then hanges ther forever!.Its been weeks and nothing Ive tried has worked.Somebody told me somthing about changing some firewall setting or client somthing. But the apple baron top doesnt even come up,or the desktop. So there no way I can change anything...PLEASE HELP!!!!
      Mac OS X (10.3.7)

It's quite a while since I used 'Panther' but can you not just use your recovery disc to do an Archive and install to reinstall the OS and rebuild permissions?
Insert disc, power down. Restart holding the "C" button down until the Apple logo and spinning (whatever that little spinning thing is called) shows up. It should launch the OS X installer, choose your language.
When you get to the "where would you like to install" go to option button below the Hard drive and click it. A new window opens up with Archive & Install (to save user date and reinstall OS X) or Erase and Install (for a clean install). Select Archive and Install and 'OK'.
Choose Archive and Install, your OS will reinstall. Once complete, see if that corrects the issue you're experiencing. If it doesn't, instead of some people lording it over you by telling you off for not backing up your data (which isn't always possible depending on budget or practical advice in this case) you may have to cut your losses and do an erase and install. At least it will get your system up and running again, but try the Archive and Install option first.
If Archive and Install works get a cheap external hard drive or internal drive and back up your data for future protection. If you have to perform an erase and install a 2nd hard drive wouldn't go amiss for future back up protection.
Good luck and hope this helps
