PLEASE HELP--Rendering only captures center of composition!

Hi, I'm new to After Effects. I am trying to render a 10-sec, multi-layered 3D text logo, to import into Final Cut Pro Express. After that, it will go to YouTube. Everything looks great in Preview. But when I render it, all I get is a gigantic, oversized closeup of whatever is in the center of the composition's screen! I have rendered a different multi-layered composition and it came out normal. So I don't think it's the Preferences. Details: AE CS5.5 on Mac 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Using an older 2007 version Mac Pro 8-core, with 12GB RAM. Composition contains 3D and 2D animated text, and still jpeg photos. No error messages. All content shows up on the preview screen. But, when rendered, the screen is zoomed in to the middle of the composition. There are no third party codecs or effects. Have tried Open GL both off, and on. Same result. Tried different resolutions of rendering, etc. No luck. Please, does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance.

Are you previewing using the Active Camera? After Effects can't render from any camera views other than what is active in the timeline.
Have you got any scale or crop parameters set in the Render Queue Output Module?

You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #58042 on A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac.
Do you have access to another Mac? You may want to backing up your files via Target Disk Mode (TDM) as well as running some utilities (Knowledge Base Document #58583 on How to use FireWire target disk mode.
You may want to invest in a utility like DiskWarrior from Alsoft. It is great for troubleshooting drive malfunctions.
As said before, you may also want to bring your iBook to your local Apple Store/Reseller.

Please Help! More Capturing Problems.

I'm having some trouble capturing footage from onto Final Cut Express HD.
Whenever I try to capture, the footage plays on my screen for about a second, freezes and I get this error message,
"Capture encountered a problem reading the data on your source tape. This could be due to a problem with the tape. Capture has been aborted and you clip has been saved."
I am left with a five second clip from my tape for my trouble. This has only started happening recently, I am using the same setup that I have done before when it was working. I can capture with no issues on imovie.
I have called tech support and they sent me a link that shows how to reinstall final cut and delete all the user preference settings. I have tried different tapes, different sources for saving footage and I still have the exact same problem.
Any more info you need please ask. Please help me, I'm pulling my hair out!

Well, I've captured before when the external drives have been connected, but I disconnected them and retried after resetting everything and I still get the same error.
I've also tried resetting the settings on my XHA1 and deleting all the preferences for final cut express, all the receipts etc. And reinstalling and still I get the same error.
I am shooting in HDV and have tried capturing with both 'HD down-conv' on and off, comp out is 1080i/576i (as it's always been). Set my FCE setting correctly? I've been through preferences and system settings, apart from selecting easy setup>DV-NTSC Firewire Basic and making sure there is space on capture scratch, anything else I need to look out for?

Hi there! Well I have been trying to use the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs video editor to transfer Hi8 tapes from my camcorder (Samsung SLC860) to my laptop (Compaq presario, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, .25 GB RAM, xp). I have successfully done this before *sort of*. Before i was able to capture video from my camcorder without the sound. But now I cant even capture video! I get an error when using Ulead VideoStudio 8 SE reading: 5065:29:0. Please help, anything would be great! Thank you! Oh, i've tried reinstalling the drivers already, didnt work. P.S. I connect the camcorder to the Creative Audigy using S-Video. I have also tried A/V out from the camcorder to video-in on the Audigy. I have also downloaded VidCap and other driver updates from Creative but those didn't work either. I've tried VidCap other capture programs, none worked. Any help would be great. Thank you!

Hi there! Thanks for the reply, unfortunately, I've tried VidCap and it wont let me capture either. The Start button on Step 3 isn't acti've. Its not bold, and when i click on it nothing happens. But under device manager and Sound, Video and game controllers, there are alot of things. They are as followed: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Drivers, Media Control Devices, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Audio Device, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Video Device, SoundMAX Intergrated Digital Audio, Video Codecs. Do you think any of these could be interfering with one another? If so, which ones can be safely disabled? I've also tried downloading all the necessary updates for VidCap and I've even tried reinstalling the Audigy card many times. I am able to see the preview of the video on both programs VidCap and VideoStudio but I just can't capture. Once again, the error message on VideoStudio is: 5065:29:0. Thank you so much, hopefully I hear from ya soon and this can be fixed.

Issue is that if i click YES and then click NO, YES box is still "CHECKED"
How to avoid that..SO that If I go from YES to NO box, only one of them is checked at any time

Please help! Screen Capture resolution for Flash

Hi,
When I screen capture [using RoBo ScreenCapture] either web
pages off the Net, or dialog boxes of programs [I'm using Flash for
a presentation instead of PP] the images are pixelated or fuzzy or
well, not good enough.
Let me explain In using RoBo, I make the capture at the
highest Jpeg resolution possible. When I bring the jpeg into Flash
[import directly into Library] and bring on the stage, I have to
resize the image because it is too big for the stage [being
800X600]. The projector I will be using for the presentation is
800X600.so I set the stage for that.
When I publish the file and review it [setting my monitor to
800X600] the images look terrible.
Maybe I should explain that when I do the screen captures at
first, my monitor is set at 1600X1200.
Should I set it at 800X600 when doing the captures first? I
mean, does this affect the final output of the resolution of the
jpg's when they are placed in Flash after the capture and import
into the Library?
I have had to make captures of web pages, so I have my
monitor set at 1600X1200 normally so I can get the most real estate
on the screen as possible. I make the screen captures using that
monitor setting. But I have my Flash movie stage set at 800X600.
My questions are:
1. Should I do the captures with the monitor set at 800X600
if the Flash stage is 800X600? If so, why?
2. If the projector resolution is 800X600, can I set my Flash
stage at a higher size [resolution], say 1024X768? Will that
actually affect the resolution when the Flash movie is projected on
a projector with an 800X600 resolution if the Flash movie stage is
larger?
3. What affects the final resolution output of the BMP images
[jpeg's] in Flash for a presentation like I am doing?
4. What size should I capture the images at so I don't have
to resize them in Flash?
WHAH! I just want this presentation to be successful. It's a
training session on educating folks on computer virus
prevention/protection from and ID theft, something this world is in
dire need of!

A screen capture captures whatever number of pixels you are
grabbing. If
your monitor is 1600x1200 and you capture the entire screen,
then the
resolution you have captures is 1600x1200.
Then two things are happening:
1) you are making it a JPG, which is lossy compresion
2) you are shrinking it to 800 x 600.
To shrink it, Flash has to 'throw away' 75% of the pixels of
the original.
So, no matter what, you are ending up with a lower resolution
image than
what you started with.

That would make sense. Why? You can only show 800x600 pixels
in your final
presentation. What's the point of capturing more than that?

If the images are that resolution, then yes, if you increase
the size of the
flash file, you should be able to see all of the pixels at
that particular
resolution.

As long as you bring the images in at 100%, the available
resolution of the
images shouldn't change at all.

I'm not sure what RoBo is, but have you considered using a
product like
RoboDemo for this type of thing? That should handle
everything for you.

I got in easy on my end and actually just upgraded last week.
Only thing I can think of is its a server issue on Verizon's end. I know they have many servers that people are redirected to, but dont know how it all works.
Have you all tried using different broswers and still got the same message? If so its almost guaranteed its on their side.

PLEASE HELP - Panasonic DV captured, audio goes out of sync

I'm capturing an hour of DV from a Panasonic PV-GS500, using Capture Now. Initially the audio and video appear to be in sync, but when I view the latter portion of the hour, the audio and video are markedly out of sync. This has occurred with several different tapes. I don't recall if this happened with FCE 3.5; I'm using 4.0.1.
The recording was made with 16 bit audio. I chose Easy Setup with format DV/Panasonic DVCPRO, using DV-NTSC, and rate 29.97fps. My sequence is 48kHz.
Any help would be appreciated!

I re-captured the same tape I had trouble with the first time, but this time I started at the beginning without any lead time and it worked without audio/video sync problems. So I think the source of the problem was that I was changing Easy Setup settings after making a new project/sequence, instead of creating a new project/sequence after selecting the Easy Setup settings I want.
I have 2 related additional questions. I hope someone will take a stab at answering these.
Question ONE
I checked my Easy Setup settings again, and the format is shown as "custom." I'm sure I didn't select this intentionally; I selected DV-NTSC. Not sure if this "custom" setting is why things are working now. Any idea why this setting might have changed to "custom" automatically by FCE?
The "custom" settings are as follows:
Sequence Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
Capture Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
Device Control Preset: FireWire NTSC
Playback Output Video: None
Playback Output Audio: FireWire DV
PTV Output Video: Same as Playback
PTV Output Audio: Same as Playback
If I change the format back to DV-NTSC, Playback Output Video changes to "Apple FireWire NTSC (720 x 480)." I'm not sure if this is relevant.
Question TWO
Say I've imported all this DV, without audio/video sync problems, with certain Easy Setup Settings. What if I then switch to a different camera for which the capture format is different (say DV-NTSC 32kHz FireWire Basic). Will that create any problems? I ask because presumably my old Easy Setup settings (for my first camera) are still being used by the Project or Sequence. The second camera requires new Easy Setup settings, but these settings are not congruent with the Project or Sequence I'm working with.
Maybe another way to ask this question is this: Can I mix and match DV from different cameras without any problems, even though the Easy Setup settings are changed within the same project and sequence?

PLEASE HELP itunes only recognizes first audio cd for import...

I have been through every topic, discussion, and trouble shooting method. I have been on this computer for 12 hours...PLEASE, someone must know. Lost a computer and started new itunes and was able to use this forum to get all my music from ipod into new itunes. I am now only able to "rip" one audio cd into itunes per session. After that, itunes does not recognize the next. If computer is restarted, i can again "rip" one. I did find this exact topic in apple trouble shooting, but info was not pertanent to this situation. I don't know how tech savy some of you might be out there, so i will include the info given to me when i run cd/dvd diagnostics. I have OCD and can't use Mediaplayer for import then transfer to itunes. Seriously...itunes should work with ipod, right? I backed up my entire library, restored my computer to an earlier date before any problems with itunes. Uninstalled itunes, and started from scratch. Installed new, reloaded library...actually imported 3 audio cd's and then again...disaster, same problem. It won't recognize anymore. If i restart the computer, itunes will again read one or two and then fail to recognize again. Anyone?

Please help - delay in capturing photo with new Rebel Sl1

I bought a rebel SL1 a couple months back. It is replacing an older digital rebel from 9 years ago - I think it's an XT. I loved it when I first used it. Then I got it out to use over the holidays and there seems to be a crazy delay when taking pictures. I'm not sure if I have somehow messed up a setting or what the issue is. I'm using it in auto (green square). It's like its taking a long time for the picture to "record". Anyone have any ideas on how I might fix?

No. The camera will take images at any resolution "instantly" because the images are captured to an internal memory buffer. The images are then saved to the SD card, which isn't as fast as the internal memory.
The only way you get a delay due to image size if you you are shooting in "continuous" mode and you take enough pictures to fill the internal memory buffer... which forces the camera to slow down until an image finishes being saved to card to make room for another image in-memory.
You would hear this because in "continuous" mode the camera will go "click", "click", "click", "click"........... "click".........."click"... etc. (in other words several fast clicks in a row... then a long pause between each successive click once the memory buffer is full.)
The 2-second delay timer is more common. People switch this on, don't realize it, then are suprised when each time they press the shutter button the camera wont fire... until 2 seconds elapse. The 2-second delay is great for shooting on tripod when you don't have a remote shutter-release. This is because touching the camera (on tripod) usually creates a bit of vibration. That can show up in long exposure photos. But by enabling the 2 second delay, you allow the vibration to settle down before the shutter open. This mode is ALSO used to take self-portraits using the IR remote trigger. The 2 second delay means you can press the button on the remote, then you have 2 seonds to hide the trigger before the camera fires (so you don't end up with photos showing you pointing the remote at the camera.)

URGENT PLEASE HELP: Broker only serving one queue consumer at a time

Hello all,
I have multiple consumers listening on a queue. The broker sends a message to the first listening consumer. This consumer receives that message and acknowledges it. and does some processing with it.
All other consumers do not get any message from the broker. They are all listening on the queue for a long time. After i kill the first consumer one of the listening consumer gets a message.
How can I configure the queue so that it sends multiple (different) messages to all the listening consumers with minimum delay?
I am using a persistent queue and using 3.5 sp2 on windows.

Sounds like your number of active consumers is set to 1 which is the default. Use imqcmd to set the maxNumActiveConsumers on your queue. The Platform Edition supports up to two active and one backup consumer. The Enterprise Edition does not have any limits.

PLEASE HELP!! Weird screen glitch in After Effects CS5.5?!? (Windows 7)

I was editing some videos in the trial of After Effects CS5.5, and I went to render something in full screen (I've been using it for two weeks now, and i've rendered in full screen before) and suddenly a bunch of error messages started popping up,and After Effects closed out. Now every time I open After Effects, its like the screen zooms in: I can't see my taskbar or my tools for after effects, or anything on the edges at all. Production Premiere and everything else works fine, but After Effects is always like this now. I've searched all the help centers, and google, and youtube, and I've found nothing. I also tried unistalling and reinstalling the Master Collection trial but it still came up in full screen.
PLEASE HELP I only have 12 days left on trial and I'm trying to finish one last video.

Try deleting your preferences. If that doesn't do it, Reboot, Use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, then re-install AE. If that doesn't work let us know. It's probably your preferences.

IMovie 11, How do I complete the movie? Please Help!!

I just got my MacBook last week so imovie is brand new to me and I'm only use to using Windows Movie Maker. Anyways I'm just trying to figure out how I save a video when I'm finished editing it? I finally realized how to trim the clips I want and get rid of the one's I don't but I can't for the life of me save the video when I'm done? Please help, the only thing that I can do to get them is to finalize it which takes forever and I keep forgetting how to do it.

It stores Event and Projects by it self.
To get Your movie out - then use Share on top Menu list.
If You want a DVD then - I don't use Share to iDVD - but Share to Media Browser
and the big and large size. Then in iDVD open it's Media Browser and use the movie here.
