Please respond to my previous posting and this is an additional part too

I am wondering if anyone has seen my previous posting from a few days ago, within this same discussion area? If not, I'd really appreciate a response. Also, I am wondering if this might help solve the mystery in any way: I have downloaded iphoto 5 but it says at the end of the process that I am missing a critical file for it to be able to open. Then I downloaded 4 again, and I got the same message. What's happening to my iphoto??
Thanks,
Becca

There may be a problem with the file. Did you use Software Update to do the download?

Seems to be a common enough problem. I've deleted the partial failed backup from iCloud, restoring all 5Gb of storage. Then started a manual backup. After about 20 minutes I get the same error message. I have repeated this several times. According to my iTunes on my laptop I managed one backup to iCloud from there but it is pointless if u can neither backup to or restore from iCloud via my iPhone 4. I had hoped ios 5.0.1 would solve this glitch but ....
So much for "it just works".
I have yet to see any suggested fix that works for me. Any other suggestions?

  • Blackberry Curve 8520 - Can't set up email account (Have read previous posts and can't figure out problem. Please help.

    Hi,
I just bought myself a new Blackberry.
I've been trying to set up my email account through the wizard set up and have been largely unsuccessful. I read a couple of posts that have given a step-by-step process. My only problem is that I don't have an option that says 'Add account.' Here are the steps I've followed:
    1) Go to Email Setup
    2) Choose 'I want to create or add an email address.
    3) Click next
    4)Click next again
5)Then, I get a message which says 'Existing Users, to log in, please provide your username and password.'
I don't have an option to add an account.
When I put in my username and password into the fields, I get a message saying please enter a valid username.
(My service provider already set up my Gmail, and couldn't add the other one. I told him I'd figure it out)
    Please help!)
    Thanks so much.
    Solved!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The reason you can't log in is that, when you had your carrier set up your GMail, they created a BIS account for you. Further, they created BIS credentials on that account -- which are then needed to access the BIS configuration screens even on the BB. You need those credentials. Contact whoever it is that set it up for you and have them tell you those credentials.
    Good luck!

  • Please thank everyone for responding to my previous posts

I finally got another email.  I was removed from the discussion and had several suggested readings regarding use of forum.  I had inadvertently done something that I did not know was illegal per the advice of a friend who I thought was more knowledgeable than she was, and now I guess I've "jailbroken" my phone. Now no one will help me.  I'll have to resort to looking for answers from all the wackos on the internet, some of which may not have my best interest in mind.  I'll have to take my chances.  Please thank everyone for responding to my inquiry regarding FelipeV.  I guess I'm now banned from discussions.

Thank you again.  Last night I reopened iTunes and it said it had to run in compatibility mode.  I was caught of guard by that and tried to figure out what was going on because I did not want to chance messing up my iPhone because it wasn't perfect.  I tried finding articles to fix it and finally decided to delete the app using the instructions from support.apple.com.  While attempting to delete the first program in the specific instructed order, I received error message while removing iTunes.  Error code 2324 and then Error writing to Program Files (86) iTunes IT Detector.OCX.  I spent hours doing that as it would appear to uninstall and then not do it. I can't remember what I used Fix It for but it was stuck in a loop for hours and finally I stopped it.  I ran a scan search and found OCX file and changed security permission and retried what I was doing and all worked.  AT that point I was really tired and I don't remember how I finally did it, but once the first application (iTunes) was deleted I had no problem uninstalling the other four related applications. After restarting, I looked in Program Files (86) to see if any files were left behind and didn't see any.  I did not want to mess with the registry for fear I'd totally mess things up.  My computer did hang up on starting once and it went into repair mode and it fixed itself.  I did a reboot, pushing my luck, to make sure it would start okay again, and then  I did a malware scan with both Windows Malicious Tool Removal update app from Windows and also the free version of Malware Byte.  Both came back clean.  I then went to bed at about 6:30 am.  I plan on reinstalling iTunes after I make some coffee and see if it does a clean install. Its not like I don't maintain my computer.  I did a factory reset and everything was working great.  Hadn't even junked up my computer with all my document files yet.  They're still on flash drive.  I will run scan disc while having coffee.  I've only used 71.5 of 451GB so it shouldn't take long.  Thanks for your patience.

    Hello Princess Lynne Anne,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities
First I recommend taking a look at this article named iTunes: Music purchased from iTunes Store cannot be burned to MP3 format CD found http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1476.
Songs purchased from the iTunes Store may either be in AAC format or AAC Protected format depending on when they were purchased (older songs used AAC Protected format). You can convert AAC songs to MP3 format allowing them to be burned to an MP3 format CD, however AAC Protected songs can not be converted. You can, however, back them up to a data CD or DVD, or you can burn them to an audio CD (which can be played in a CD player).
And if your issue still persists after converting any of these purchases, then I would recommend this part of the article named Disc Burning Quick Assist found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1152#learn2:
    Top troubleshooting tips
In addition to the following tips, check out these articles:
    Solving problems with burning discs
If the disc burning options are dimmed or unavailable
If a burn does not succeed, check the disc or try another disc
Eject the disc from the drive and inspect it to see if the surface is dirty or scratched, or if it already has data written on it (the shiny surface is slightly darker where data has already been burned). If it's dirty, wipe it clean with a soft, damp cloth and try burning again. If the disc already contains data, try another disc. If you're using a rewritable disc that already contains data, be sure to erase it before burning data on it again. Small flaws or surface inconsistencies can cause an unsuccessful burn. Try burning your content to another disc or try a different brand of disc (if possible).
Make sure that your optical drive can record discs
If your drive is built into your Mac, make sure that you have at least a Combo Drive if you want to burn a CD or a SuperDrive if you're trying to burn a DVD (or CD). Consult your Mac manual or your third-party manufacturer's disc drive manual for more information.
    Check the disc type
Make sure that your disc drive is capable of writing to your media at hand. For example, you won't be able to burn a DVD+RW disc with an older Apple SuperDrive. Consult your Apple or third-party product manual for your drive's supported media specifications. You should also use discs that are rated for the burn speed of your drive.
    Slow things down
In the Burn dialog, specify a burn speed that is slower than the maximum speed rating for your disc drive (if you can) and try burning another disc.
    Free up some memory
If you've got other applications open, quit the ones that you're not using (or quit them all except for the one from which you're burning your disc). Allow the disc to burn before doing other things on your computer.
Check your hard drive's available space
When you burn a disc, your Mac temporarily sets aside an amount of hard disk space equal to the amount of data being burned to the disc. If you're burning a large amount of data, you may run out of room on your hard disk if it's almost full, which may prevent a disc from burning. To free up space, throw out unwanted files or back up files to an external drive.
    Restart your computer
Sometimes a simple restart can resolve issues. Once you've restarted your Mac, try burning another disc again.
    Update your software
Use Software Update (from the Apple menu, choose Software Update) to check for, download, and install the latest versions of your Apple software. If you're using a third-party burner, visit the manufacturer's website for the latest software updates for your model.
    Check your connections
If you're using an external disc writer, make sure that all of your cable connections are secure and that the optical drive is powered on.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • I am having issues with updating my iphone.  I keep getting an error message relating to connecting to the server.  I have read previous posts and I did disable my firewall on Norton, but still no luck.  Other suggestions, please.

As you can see the operating system is well out of date.  This has been an ongoing issue for quite some time.  Any help would be appreciated.  Would going to an Apple store for hands-on help, be the best solution??

Sounds like you might need to take it to an Apple Store but if it is an iPhone 3G it would no longer be under warranty.
Looking at the Apple Store online you can get an iPhone 3GS from $49 on AT&T if it comes to having to get a new one. Your other option is second hand.

Check this post, the dial assist is part of the iOS 7.1, according to page 49 of the iphone_user_guide
Make calls to your contacts and favorites while traveling abroad. (GSM) Go to Settings > Phone and turn on Dial Assist. Dial Assist automatically adds the prefix or country code for calls to the U.S.
This user had a similar problem and solved it by switching off the dial assist feature in Settings/Phone/Dial Assist

  • VERY BIG PROBLEMS WITH MY ZEN MICRO AND MEDIASOURCE! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME! PLEASE RESPOND

Ok so a while back I had to give up my computer because it wasn't working.
I thought that with my new computer I'd be able to transfer all of my music from my zen micro onto my new computer.
Now my new computer is set up and I have installed creative mediasource and everything. I started to transfer my music from my zen onto my computer. My first 2 songs transfered successfully onto my computer. On the third song, I get this message:
"Unable to read file, file may be in use, missing, or corrupted."
I thought that maybe it was just that one song so I shrugged it off. But then it says the same thing for every single other song that i have! Only my first 2 songs out of my entire music library on my zen will transfer!!!
Please i really need your help!!!
And say that there is no hope in getting the rest of my songs to transfer and i have to download 094 songs from limewire? I'll surely be arrested for downloading that much! What should i do if i must download all of them?
And one more problem with my zen: Some of my Jump Little Children songs are doing something weird. The song will be fine and then a clip from another song will play during it! And then press next and it just keeps playing all of my Jump songs in order even though my player is on shuffle and they do the same thing with the clip from another song interupting it. Whats going on?
Most importantly though, i really need the questions answered about transfering from my zen to my computer because i'll be getting a new player soon. But this is my entire music library at stake!! PLEASE RESPOND!!!

  • How to Get a List of All XMLElements (Follow up to previous posting)

    (CS5, Win7, 64Bit)
I need a collection (or array, etc.) of all the XMLElement objects in a given document in flat form (just like the "Structure Tree"'s hierarchichal view - only flatened).
I could not find any "normal" way (i.e., built-in property or method) to get at the information. Instead, I found that I had to recurse through the entire XMLElement tree, starting with the Root Element. For a large document, this can take close to a ten minutes, and sometimes I have to do this for an InDesgin Book containing over ten enormous INDD files.
After "கற்பனை Imagine" responded to my previous post about how to get all the XMLTags, I assumed that myDocument.xmlElements would return a collection of all the XMLElements in the Document. Unfortunately, it does not - it returns only the Root XMLElement. Thus, I have to recurse therough the hierarchy of XMLElements under the Root XMLElement - which takes a very long time.
There HAS to be a better way, right?
Would it be better were I to recurse through all PageItems in the document and then recurse through each PageItem's XMLElement tree? I assume that wouldn't make a big difference either way.
    I'm open to suggestions...
    TIA,
    mlavie

What do you intend to do with this flat layout of XMLElements? That probably matters a great deal.
If performance is really at play, you can try using XML Rules instead of interacting with the DOM from JavaScript. But they are complicated and confusing and more suited to declarative programming.
    Imagine suggests:
    var a = myroot.evaluateXPathExpression ("//*");
        xmlObjArray.push(a[b--]);
Why not stop there? evaluateXPathExpression already returns an array, why iterate over it and push its elements into a new array? What's wrong with the return value?

  • Error message - this project cannot be opened in read-write mode because a previous checkin for this project is not complete.

    Hi,
I have read the previous posts about this error message and I have tried all resolutions suggested but to no avail.
This week 4 Project Managers have reported this error message to me. Each time I have checked the Force Check-In Enterprise Objects, the queue and also the cache. None of the projects can be found anywhere. This is obviously frustrating for them and for
    myself.
If anyone has any advice on where to find these project and check them in properly, and also how to avoid this happening going forward, I would be greatful.
    Thanks,

Did you look at the local project Cache on the PC of each of the affected users?  Did you ask the affected users to clean out their Cache and try to open each project directly from the Project Server database, instead of opening it from the Cache?
There is a possibility that the Cache has gotten corrupted on the PC of each of your affected users.  To resolve possible Cache corruption, ask each of the affected users to do the following:
    1.  Close Microsoft Project 2010.
    2.  Click the Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.
    3.  In the Run dialog, enter the following command:
         %appdata%\Microsoft\MS Project\14\Cache
    4.  Click the OK button.

  • How do I stop button controls responding to both mouse down and mouse up?

    Hi,
On my front panel I have several buttons which are all set to 'Switch Until Release' type. I've come across the problem where they sometimes stick on even when the mouse has been released (see earlier posting) and this has been confimed by NI as a LV bug.
To get round this I manually write FALSE to the button controls once my LV prog has read them but I now find that some of the buttons having been cleared go true again on the release of the mouse button as though the mouse release can also set them true.
Is there any way I can stop them responding to the mouse release?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

    Dave123 wrote:
I'd like to use latch when released buttons but I'm using local variables of the buttons so I can read the current values of them in different parts of the program.
So to simulate latch when released I've written my program to set to FALSE the state of the button once it has read that it has been pressed.
This sounds like a very bad idea if other parts of the code need to react on the state of a pseudo-latch action boolean. There is simply no guarantee that other parts of the code even see the transition due to possible race conditions. What if the boolean gets reset before the other code can read it? What if the other code reads the true multiple times because it loops faster than 200ms?
How many other places do you possibly need to read it? Maybe you can use latch action combined with an event structure to cause parallel code to react to the value change? (see attached example, LabVIEW 7.0). Maybe you should rethink your code, there might be better alternatives.
    Dave123 wrote:
Keep the toggle button held down for a second or two, release it and you should see the button goes true again (and is promptly cleared in the case). Why does a mouse button release set the button to true?
Easy! In this case, you should use "switch when pressed" as mechanical action. You use switch until released, which confuses LabVIEW.
Switch when released does two things: (1) It switches to true as long as you keep the button pressed. (2) When you release the button, it switches to off. Now, if your code inverts the switch via a local variable while it is still pressed, the release tries to invert the current state and turns it off-to-on again by mistake.
This might be a slight flaw (bug) in the LabVIEW code. Releasing the button should force a FALSE to the button, not an iversion of the current state.
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

  • 6000 posts and no fix.. RED X battery on screen

The red X battery problem has been around for years now and Blackberry dont provide a fix for it. They wonder why stock market prices drop and people shift to Apple. Its a software problem but they keep saying battery, which is total BS

If it's a software problem, reloading the OS with BlackBerry Desktop Software should resolve the issue. Keep in mind that the Storm is years old and BlackBerry has improved greatly since then. You'd probably be best to drop your Storm in favor of a BB10 phone like the Q10 or the Z30.
