Plot of a 360 degree sampling around a line

I'm doing a scan around a line by sampling data 360 degrees for every value of z(z is the position on the line). So, that mean I have a double for-loop where I collect the data for each z-value. The problem comes when I try to plot the data. How should I do? I've tried the 3D-parametric graph with cylindrical coordinates, but it won't work properly.
The following structure is used for collecting the data.
For z = 0 to max_length
move delta_z
For theta = 0 to 360
move delta_theta
read (value)
End
End
Thanks!!

Jonas,
I was browsing through the Dev Zone and found this posting from you ( link ), I think is yours but I wanted to double check that you are receiving the notifications from it also.
Good luck!

    Jonas,
    I think what you want is a 3D plot of a cylinder. I have attached an example using a parametric 3D plot.
    You will probably want to duplicate the points for the first theta value to close the cylinder. I'm not sure what properties of the graph can be manipulated to make it easier to see.

  • 360 degree pans

    I am doing a video of country scenes, for the Record Office. It will include a few 360 degree pans (to show the all-round view at selected places). (I know that Stephen Spielberg probably never used such pans, but they fit in with my objectives.)
    My problem is keeping them steady, both concerning camera wobbles and the speed of the pan. A friend told me that the old pros did it without a tripod. They stood with their feet apart and turned to the left as far as they could twist themselves, then started shooting while they "unwound", 360 degrees. But I find that hopeless - the camera wobbles terribly.
    The alternative is to use a tripod with a fluid head and pan in the usual way. But with a 360 degree pan it is necessary to move my feet around the tripod's legs half-way round which causes a change in the speed of the pan which looks unprofessional.
    The least worst solution that I have found is to do half the pan (actually 225 degrees approx.), stop the pan, move my feet, pan back in the opposite direction to create an overlap, do the second half of the pan (225 degrees approx.), then do a Cross Disolve or an Edge Wipe to join the two (trimmed) halves. This works in the sense that it allows the viewer to track the scene successfully, and if I work hard to match the speed of both pans where they overlap, it works although looks a little strange because most viewers would not expect a transition in the middle of a pan.
    Any ideas? (I saw a site offering electric pan devices mounted on a tripod head but I don't remember where it was. They were not as expensive as I expected, but still pricey - about GBP 400 I think!)

    I'd say it depends on your need for quality and one other thing: How long does the pan have to last? The length of the clip becomes important when you consider the exposure you will be using and what your client expects in terms of being to discern details in the clip. 360 degrees in 60 seconds is a fast pan and at 1/30 second you will see image blur.
    Do they want to be able to freeze and zoom in on objects? If so, your only viable solution is a panoramic image built of stills and for that you really need to invest in an indexed pano head.
    It's a very complex mechanical and technical issue, please come back and tell us how you solved it.

  • Convert 360 degree photo to panoramio

    I made some 360 degree photo's with my Sony Bloggie. I assumed that iPhoto (or iMove/Photoshop) could remap that picture to a rectangular panoramio photo, but until now I've been unsuccessful. Does somebody know if this is possible, and if not what the alternatives are (the PMB software on the Sony Bloggie is not Mac compatible).

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you don't have PS or PSE there are a number of applications that can stitch photos together for form a panorama view. Go to MacUpDate.com and do a search for "panorama" to get a list of possible candidates.

  • 360 Degree Animation Effect in flash

    Hi everyone,
    I have to create a 360 degree animation effect on 2d image in flash. Basicaly its a product image and has to be animated in 360 degree. Presently I am working on Flash CS4 and it has 3d tool, but i was unable to make it. Now the thing is coming in my mind that, Is this the right software to create such effect, i m worried . Pls help me out from this problem.

    Hello
    I just watched the youtube 360 degree animation in flash and it is very nice. However i do have a question, While this make the animation, it only does the switching between a picture and another picture. There is no transition between them or any blend.
    Is there a way to have a blend added to this so that the picture more look like a real 360 panoramic view ?
    I love the idea of the mouse controling the view and i know i can place the picture back to back and build them so it is one huuuuuge picture, however in that case it will be nearly impossible to put them all in 1 frame..
    I can easely create the 360 panoramique picture in photoshop, but then it is in flash thati have the probleme. I want to apply the mouse control idea. but because the result will be a lot larger than the stage, i don't know how to deal with that...
    Erm.. i'm not sure i am clear :S
    Any clue?

  • I need a recommendation for the best 360-degree software

    I use Stitcher for stitching images into 360-degree interactive quicktime imagery, but the upgrade is costly ($250+).
    Can anyone recommend other good software which will do the same?
    Trying to finish a project ... feedback is most welcome.
    Thanks!

    Stitcher is what I went with. Thanks

  • 360 degrees photo gallery

    hi there, hope all you flash guru's can help me out, it's
    probably a simple thing but i have never done it before. i am
    wanting to create a 360 degrees rotating photo gallery. much like
    this one
    http://www.pappadums.com/
    i have a number of venues for my work that i need to
    advertise,. i have the panoramic s almost ready and stiched, but am
    wanting to know how to loop them continually like this one in the
    website i found. thanks so much for any help.

  • 360 degree image to linear format

    Hi, I am trying to convert a 360 degree (Cylindrical) 2d image into a linear 2d strip of image as a part of my masters project. Could any one please tell me a better idea of using java functions to work on image conversions?
    Cheers,
    Anand

    Thanks Lilybird. I have looked high and low to find an answer so perhaps the simple answer is that it can't be done :-(
    My backup plan is to take a screen cast video of myself rotationg the image. Not as good but at least something.

  • 360 degree panorama spin in Edge Animate (was: 360 degree panorama )

    I am trying to create 360 degree panorama. I've got an existing panoramic image made in photoshop which I imported into edge animate.
    I need the image move continuously and start over at the beginning seamlessly when the animation gets to the end of the image.
    I tried setting action and label to start playing the animation from the beginning but it just jumps back to the beginning and start playing. I need to make the transition between the end and the beginning of the image seamless. Hope you understand what I mean.
    Please help.

    You can use the following simple setup to generate a continuous rotating panorama
    FYI: I have used your image for creating the demo
    Dropbox - Panorama.zip
    Basically,
    There is a symbol with overflow set to hidden
    There are two instances of the same image .. with name inst1, inst2
    inst1 tweens background position from 0- T secs
    inst1 tweens 'X' value from T -> T+N secs ( Where N is the overlap time)
    inst2 tweens 'X' value from T -> T+N secs
    At T+N time, there is a tirgger which restarts the animation

  • Oracle Learning Management: 360 Degree skill audit questionnaire

    Please assist,
    My client is in the process of implementing Oracle Learning Management. The requirement is for employee to complete a skills audit questionnaire for self, peer, subordinate and line manager on line to be able to determine the competency gaps. The results of the skills audit will then inform the course design on the catalogue. My question is can 360 degree questionnaire be completed using OLM. I am aware that this functionality is available in Talent Management ( 360 degrees appraisal) however my client does not want to use appraisal function as it will give user the impression that they are in the appraisal process.

  • Color Picker: Hue 360 degrees, any more?

    I'm just wondering if anyone knows why there are 360 degrees of hue to select from... is this a theoretical choice, a technical limitation, or a design choice? I'm wondering if there are more colors out there? Are there alternate color pickers to be installed? Any suggestions for mixing colors in Photoshop to obtain a higher granularity of color selection...
    Thank YOU!

    Yes, yes I do realize that... thank you very much for that helpful comment. If we can sort of conceptualize this question here: The goal is to be able to select from a wider range of hues. And the challenge is using an interface which divides the visible spectrum into 360 discreet hues. If you think that the number 360 is relevant, perhaps because it is used to repesent a circle... that's great, we can work with floating point, it's largely arbitrary. I greatly appreciate c.pfaffenbichler's suggestion to read up on color management, I'm not aware of any issues with color management though.
    I would like to know if there are methods for specifying more than 360 hues through photoshop, particularly quantifyable hues which can be measured. Or maybe there are reasons why this need isn't relevant, due to monitor display limitations, etc. Is there some technccal limitation that Photoshop has with more than 360 hues?

  • 360 degree panorama

    Hello,
      I have a flash project that I can pan back and forth with my mouseover.  How can I change the code to loop back seamlessly to the other end creating a 360 degree turn?  Also is there a way i can use my wheel to zoom into a portion of the stage?  I'm using AS2 for this.
    Here is the code that I am using;
    this.onMouseMove = function() {
    constrainedMove(bg_mc, 4, 1);
    function constrainedMove(target:MovieClip, speed:Number, dir:Number) {
    var mousePercent:Number = _xmouse/Stage.width;
    var mSpeed:Number;
    if (dir == 2) {
    mSpeed = 1-mousePercent;
    } else {
    mSpeed = mousePercent;
    target.destX = Math.round(-((target._width-Stage.width)*mSpeed));
    target.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (target._x == target.destX) {
    delete target.onEnterFrame;
    } else {
    target._x += Math.ceil((target.destX-target._x)*(speed/100));
    Thank you so much for your help,
        Bernie

    I am having issues with 360 degree rotation, I have an iPhone 5 and ios 6.0.2. I have read alot about this issue online and I found out that my issue is software. I want to know if and when apple will fix this issue?

    I had the same experience with a new iPhone 5 that I bought  last week. Did not have a chance to measure battery life before the 6.0.2 upgrade installed but I set up my phone exactly like my 4S and immediately started running out of power after short periods. Went to Xmas get together with fully charged 5 and 4S. Heading home the iPhone 5 shut down for low battery and the 4S had 65% power. Both phones had two half phone calls on then and no data usage.
    That night I fully charged the iPhone 5 and, without lighting it up, put it on my night table. Next morning I picked it up and looked at battery indicator and I had 42% charge with NO activity!
    Tried it again next night and wound up with 37% charge. (Slept longer).
    Today I called the carrier and reactivated the 4S.  Took the 5 to Apple Store and they kindly gave me choice of new replacement phone or refund. I took the refund. Uniquely, the Apple Store said it was Verizon CDMA phones that were coming back.
    The are other strings on this with temporary solutions, but from my experience with 7 firmware changes on an HTC 4G phone the problem will continue because the solution will be hardware caused. We are in the days where RTM means Rush to Market - not Release To Manufacturing.
    I fear the only solution is to either wait for the next model (I did not notice a really major change in performance over the 4S in LTE heavy Seattle area) - or switch to another manufacturer.
    It might be useful for these forums to indicate if you have a GSM or CDMA phone to see which have more problems.
    Discouraged....
