Plotting an array with a large number of data points

Hello All,
I am collecting data every second for 24 Hrs. How do I plot this on a XY plot? I have the data collection setup in a while loop and my initial attempt was to use a shift register and a build array to make the array and that works OK. The problem is I do not know if this is a wise option in terms of memory usage. (I end up making 3 arrays and 3*86400=259200 data points in 3 shift registers).
What is the better way to plot 86400 data points in a XY plot? I am also writing the data to a file every second.
Thanks,
KB

Allan,
Thanks for the message. I am attaching with this message a ccpy of my vi where you can see that I am collecting data from 3 counters, writing them to a file and displaying them. Can you comment on this Vi with regard to memory management?
Yes, I would like to see your examples. Thanks once again.

  • Problem in compilation with very large number of method parameters

    I have java file which I created using WSDL2Java. Since the actual WSDL has a complex type with a large number of elements(around 600) in it, Consequently the resulting java file(from WSDL2Java) has a method that takes 600 parameters of various types. When I try to compile it using javac at command prompt, it says "Too many parameters" and doesn't compile. The same is compiling successfully using JBuilder X . The only way I could compile successfully at command prompt is by reducing the number of parameters to around 250 but unfortunately that it's not a workable solution. Does Sun specify any upper bound on number of parameters that can be passed to a method?

  • Old files with a large number of comments no longer work properly in either Adobe Acrobat DC or or Acrobat Reader

    I made a series of interactive ebooks wiith Adobe Acrobat Pro. They worked fine in the old Adobe Reader. But now the commenting feature does not work properly either in Adobe Reader DC or Adobe Acrobat DC.  When I open the comments, everything slows down or else I get blank pages. The tools are not usable. There seems to be some compatibility issue between what was done in these books with the commenting tools and the new applications. Has anybody experienced the same?

    Hi Anubha,
    Thanks for your reply. With the new Acrobat Reader DC, I have the same problem on two computers, one with Windows 7 and one with Windows 8.1. I downloaded a trial version of Adobe Acrobat DC on the computer with 8,1. Then I found out that I had the same problem with Acrobat DC as I did with Reader DC.
    I made these e-books with Acrobat Adobe Pro 11. I never had a problem with Pro 11 or with previous Readers. Also I have sent these e-books out to other people who had Reader 11 and they had no problems. Now it seems that the books are not usable – at least in the fullest way -- for me or for anyone else using the latest version of Reader.
    Any help would be appreciated. I have put a lot of work into these e-books.

  • Fastest Way to Delete a large number of data

    I m trying to delete a large number of Data
    this Proc will be running every day without disturbing the other Process
    SET sql = 'DELETE TOP (100) FROM ' + @TableName + ' WHERE Id IN (Select Distinct Id FROM [state] WHERE ToDel = 1)'SET @Deleted_Rows = 1;SET @Rows = 0; WHILE (@Deleted_Rows > 0)BEGIN BEGIN TRANEXEC sp_executesql @sql SET @Deleted_Rows = (SELECT @@ROWCOUNT);SET @Rows = (@Rows + @Deleted_Rows);COMMIT TRANWaitFor DELAY '00:00:00:01' END
    Have you any Idea how can I optimize my Query ?
    Thank you very much

    Hi, following are few thoughts.
    1. If you can manage without dynamic sql then it may yield better performance as except table name there is no need for it as per your query.
    2. Ensure indexes are in place.
    3. If the table in question is not participant in replication then you may slightly go for higher batch size and again it depends on volume.
    Please take a look at the tweaked code.
    declare @Deleted_Rows int, @Rows int;
    SET @Deleted_Rows = 1;
    SET @Rows = 0;
    WHILE (@Deleted_Rows > 0)
    BEGIN
    BEGIN TRAN;
    DELETE TOP (100) t1
    FROM
    tabName as t1
    WHERE exists (Select * FROM [state] as t2 WHERE t2.ToDel = 1 and t2.Id = t1.id);
    SET @Deleted_Rows = @@ROWCOUNT ;
    SET @Rows = @Rows + @Deleted_Rows;
    COMMIT TRAN;
    WaitFor DELAY '00:00:00:01';
    END
    Print 'Total rows deleted : '+convert(varchar(50), @Rows);

  • Reducing Number of Data Points Acquired?

    I am interested in knowing how to reduce the number of data points written to a file that was acquired at 5 Hz. I have tried to lower the sampling frequency below 5 Hz on a Compaq Daq, but I get an error saying that is an incorrect value. So, if I can't sample below 5 Hz, how do I acquire fewer data points, or how do I reduce the number of data points written to the file? I have tried Sample Compression which just ignores  data points. So, an acquired value is written multiple times at the same rate as having no compression at all. I calculated the sampling frequency from the data file witha compression ratio of 20, 30, and 40 to still be at 5 Hz.

    If you want to "compress" your data then you should perhaps try the "Decimate (single shot) VI " Owning Palette: Signal Operation VIs. With this VI you can average down an array. If you have an array sampled with 5Hz and you set the decimating factor to 5, and average=true. Then the output will be an an array downsampled to 1 Hz, with each value equal to the average value of 5 samples in the input array. The decimate function is quite new. It came in Labview 8.2
    Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • Reading a csv file with a large number of columns

    Hello
    I have been attempting to read data from large csv files with 38 columns by reading a line using readline and scanning the linebuffer using scan.
    The file size can be up to 100 MB.
    Scan does not seem support the large number of fields.
    Any suggestions on reading the 38 comma separated fields. There is one header line in the file.

  • L3 topology diagram with a large number of networks

                       I am working on redesigning a network that is using a single class B network for there LAN workstations and servers. I proposed for them to separate the two and put all of their servers into one class C network and the workstation in another class C. They stated that they wanted 14 separate networks for the workstations, different for section of the building, and 28 for the servers. The reason for the 28 is due to the fact they didn't keep track of how they used their address space and they do not want to renumber servers due to firewall rules. I have 50 networks hanging off of the collapsed core switch "WS-C6513-E" and finding room for all of these network is quite difficult. Does anyone have any experience with creating network topology diagrams with a large amount of networks hanging off of one device? I have attached a doc of what I have done.

    Brandon
    Sorry, you did say that in the last bit of your first post.
    Last time i was doing topology diagrams i believe Visio had a pop up function where you could click over it but obviously if you are printing them out that does no good.
    Unless you can summarise them to one entry with a note of how many subnets are being used within the summary i can't think of a way to do it. You could match the vlan number to the subnet (which you have partly done) and then just list the vlan numbers with the network prefix and make a note the subnet is derived from the vlan number.

  • JDev: af:table with a large number of rows

    Hi
    We are developing with JDeveloper 11.1.2.1. We have a VO that returns > 2.000.000 of rows and that we display in a af:table with access mode 'scrollable' (the default) and 'in Batches of' 101. The user can select one row and do CRUD operations in the VO with popups. The application works fine but I read that scroll very large number of rows is not a good idea because can cause OutOfMemory exception if the user uses the scroll bar many times. I have tried with access mode in 'Range Paging' but the application works in strange ways. Sometimes when I select a row to edit, if the selected row is the number 430 in the popup is show it the number 512 and when I want to insert a new row throws this exception:

    What is the best way to display this amount of data in a af:table and do CRUD operations?
    Thanks
    Edited by: 972255 on 05/12/2012 09:51

    Hi,
    honestly, the best way is to provide users with an option to filter the result set displayed in the table to reduce the result set size. No-one will query 2.00.000 rows using the table scrollbar.
    So one hint for optimization would be a query form (e.g. af:query)
    To answer your question "srollable" vs. "page range", see
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21043_01/web.1111/b31974/bcadvvo.htm#ADFFD1179
    Pay attention to what is written in the context of +"The range paging access mode is typically used for paging through read-only row sets, and often is used with read-only view objects.".+

  • How to design Storage Spaces with a large number of drives

    I am wondering how one might go about designing a storage space for a large number of drives. Specifically I've got 45 x 4TB drives. As i am not extremely familiar with storage spaces, i'm a bit confused as to how I should go about designing this. Here is
    how i would do it in hardware raid and i'd like to know how to best match this setup in Storage Spaces. I've been burned twice now by poorly designed storage spaces and i don't want to get burned again. I want to make sure if a drive fails, i'm able to properly
    replace it without SS tossing it's cookies.
    In the hardware raid world, i would divide these 45 x 4TB drives into three separate 15 disk Raid 6's. (Thus losing 6 drives to parity) Each raid 6 would show up as a separate volume/drive to the parent
    OS. If any disk failed in any of the three raids, i would simply pull it out and put a new disk back in and the raid would rebuild itself.
    Here is my best guess for storage spaces. I would create 3 separate storage pools each containing 15 disks. I would then create a separate
    Dual Parity Virtual Disk for each pool. (Also losing 6 drives to parity) Each virtual disk would appear as a separate volume/disk
    to the parent OS. Did i miss anything?
    Additionally, is there any benefit to breaking up my 45 disks into 3 separate pools? Would it be better to create one giant pool with all 45 disks and then create 3 (or however many) virtual disks on top of that one pool?

    1) Try to avoid parity and esp. double parity RAIDs with a typical VM workload. It's dominated by small reads (OK) and small writes (not OK as whole parity stripe gets updated with any "ready-modify-write" sequence). As a result writes would be DOG slow.
    Another nasty parity RAID characteristic is very long rebuild times... It's pretty easy to get second (third with double parity) drive failure during re-build process and that would render the whole RAID set useless. Solution would be to use RAID10. Much safer,
    faster to work and rebuild compared to RAID5/6 but wastes half of raw capacity...
    2) Creating "islands" of storage is an extremely effective way of stealing IOPS away from your config. Typical modern RAID set would run out of IOPS long before running out of capacity so unless you're planning to have a file dump of an ice cold data or
    CCTV storage you'll absolutely need all IOPS from all spindles @ the same time. This again means One Big RAID10, OBR10.
    Hope this helped a bit :) Good luck!

  • Status and messaging for systems with a large number of classes

    Very common dilemma we coders face when creating
    systems involving a large number of classes:
    Any standard framework to take care of the global status of the whole application and of gui subsystems
    for both status handling and report messages to users?
    Something light if possible...and not too much threads.

    Ah, I see,
    I found JPanel with CardLayout or a JTabbedPane very good for control of several GUI in an application - as alternative organization tool I use a JTree, which is used for both, selecting and organizing certain tasks or data in the application - tasks are normally done with data associated with them (that is, what an object is for), so basically a click onto a node in this JTree invokes an interface method of that object (the userObject), which is associated with this node.
    Event handling should be done by the event-handling-thread only as far as possible - it is responsible for it so leave this job to it. This will give you control over the order in which the events are handled. Sometimes it needs a bit more work to obey this rule - for example communication coming from the outside (think of a chat channel for example) must be converted to an event source driven by a thread normally. As soon as it is an event source, you can leave it's event handling to the event handling thread again and problems with concurrent programming are minimized again.
    It is the same with manipulating components or models of components - leave it to the event handling thread using a Runnable and SwingUtilities.invokeLater(Runnable). This way you can be sure that each manipulation is done after the other in the order you have transferred it to the event handling thread.
    When you do this consequently most of your threads will idle most of the time - so give them a break using Thread.sleep(...) - not all platforms provide preemptive multitasking and this way it is garanteed, that the event handling thread will get a chance to run most of the time - which results in fast GUI update and fast event handling.
    Another thing is, that you should use "divide and conquer" also within a single GUI panel - place components in subpanels and transfer the responsibility for the components in this panel to exactly these subpanels - think of a team manager which makes his employees work together. He reports up to his super manager and transfers global order from his boss into specific tasks by delegation to the components, he is managing. If you have this in mind, when you design classes, you will have less problem - each class is responsible for a certain task - define it clearly and define to whom it is reporting (its listeners) and what these listeners may be interested in.
    When you design the communication structure within your hierarchy of classes (directors, managers, team managers and workers) have in mind, that the communication structure should not break the management hierarchy. A director gives global orders to a manager, which delegates several tasks to the team managers, which make their workers do what is needed. This structure makes a big company controlable by directors - the same principles can also keep control within an application.

  • VO: Large Number of Data

    Hi,
    i have an issue with large set of data, one of my requirement is to select all row in the table, so ctrl + A will quickly select them all, but if i want to do operation on the selected record, the server crashes because it have like 2,00,000+ rows and while(rowSet.hasNext()) will take a very huge memory.
    can any one please help me with this situation.
    Thanks
    jdev: 11.1.1.3.0

    Thanks Timo for the reply, our applications has all most all tables with multiselect and CTRL + A works for all, and operations depends, user can select all and delete, export programmatically, loop through each selected row to find something, so i am wondering how can we do it.
    I normally end up doing a virtual select all, meaning that I set a flag which gets interpreted in method (in the application module or the vo) and the method acts on all rows. i am not clear on this. Please can you give an example.
    and i am also not clean, how can we do select all visible row.
    Thank you so much.

    I highly appreciate any idea from you guys!Jay,
    one quite nice approach is described in the AskTom thread: http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:2345591157689#2356959585102
    In a nutshell: You can create a partitioned table with the same layout (using e.g. a RANGE partitioning with a single default partition), insert the remaining data into that table and swap the two segments using ALTER TABLE EXCHANGE PARTITION.
    This allows you to load the data into the partitioned table using all means available to you, e.g. direct-path parallel insert with nologging attribute of the table to make it as fast as possible, rebuilding/creating any indexes in bulk after the load completed.
    Furthermore, at least seamless read-access to the table is possible while you're performing this operation, and you don't have to deal with renaming/granting etc. which you would need to do with a traditional CTAS approach.
    Of course, if the table needs to be online for DML while performing the DELETE you can't use these options.

  • How to update multi-handle graph with a new set of data points

    I have multiple sets of data that all have the same number of columns but different numbers of rows. Each column is plotted on a graph. I want to keep the format of the original graph with the same number of handles, and update each handle with new data points by bringing in a new set of points.
    See attachment for example.
    Attachments:
    hiqgraph.HiQ ‏14 KB

    There are several ways to do this.
    1. You can create a HiQ script that plots the new data to the graph using the existing plots. The following three lines plot the new data into the three existing plots (indicated by the plot handles.) Put these lines into a HiQ script object, right-click and select Run.
    addplot(Graph2D_1,-1,data2[*,1],data2[*,2]);
    addplot(Graph2D_1,-2,data2[*,1],data2[*,3]);
    addplot(Graph2D_1,-3,data2[*,1],data2[*,4]);
    2. You can do it interactively by right-clicking on the individual plots and choosing Change... This will being up a dialog you can use to change the data in that plot. This will be difficult to do when plots are right on top of each other, so you may want to display the plot legend, where you can also right-click a
    nd select Change...
    3. I like your idea about DataSocket. This way it will happen automatically. Whenever the matrix published to DataSocket changes, the plot should automatically update.
    I hope this helps.

  • Stacked 100% bar chart - Problem with datatips for zero value data points

    I have a stacked 100% bar chart that shows datatips in Flex 4.   However, I don't want it to show datatips for
    data points with zero values.   Flex 4 shows the datatip for a zero value data point on the left side of a bar if the data point is not the first in the series.
    Here's the code that illustrates this problem.    Of particular concern is the July bar.    Because of the zero value data point problem, it's not possible to see the datatip for "aaa".
    Any ideas on how we can hide/remove the datatips for zero value data points ?        Thanks.
