Pls help solve

Question

i have this:

          try{

               Statement stat = con.createStatement();
               ResultSet result = stat.executeQuery("select MAX(cOrderNo) from RezRecipient");
               if(result.next()){
                    res = "";
                    maxNum = Integer.parseInt(result.getString(1));
                    maxNum++;
                    stringMax = String.valueOf(maxNum);
                    len = stringMax.length();               
                    while(len < 6){
                         res = res + "0";
                         len++;
                    stringMax = res + stringMax;
                    textOrderNo.setText(stringMax);
               else{
                    textOrderNo.setText("000001");
          catch(Exception nor){

          }this code works well if there is at least one entry in the database.
So, if there is nothing in the database this code returns an error.
What is the problem with this???

Maybe you could run through the exception that's getting thrown... usually just e.getMessage() or something along those lines will tell you what's wrong, if there's something going wrong during your SQL execution, which would be my first guess.
