Plug-in hangs explorer

I've been doing some experimenting with the java plug-in (version 1.3.1 and 1.4) for a product we will be developing. My problem occurs with multiple object tags on the page where each object tag loads a signed jar file.
If I have a single object tag on the page which loads a signed jar file like so
<PARAM NAME="archive" value="myJar.jar">
everything works fine. A dialog come up asking me to grant, deny etc.
However, when I have two or more object tags on the page, each loading signed jar files, explorer hangs when the security dialog comes up. This will occure once for each object tags on the page, then the page will load properly.
I am using Explorer 5.5 sp2 and a verisign certificate signed using the signtool. This problem does not occur in Netscape as far as I can tell.
Any work around or reasoning for this problem would really help.

Hi Jeff!
It is a serious constraint for us !
I experienced the same annoying problem! My only choice was to lonely deliver each Swing applet into its page. I'm using JDK 1.3.1 plug-in, Explorer 5.01 and Netscape 4.0 and both have the same terrible result. The worst case: using javascript (small one) & applet in the same page. Don'try !
I don't know why it happens, but I report u about...sorry and good lucky.

  • Hard drive works, but when plugged in hangs the system

First of all, since this is not a Linux-specific problem I'm not sure this is the right place for this post.
Anyway, for the past few years I've been using a 250GB IDE hard drive mostly to store backups on.  For quite a while it worked fine, but when  plugged in again after being removed so I could clean out the dust in my PC it didn't work quite right anymore.  It caused the system to hang and gave error messages remniscent of those detailed on this page.  After some fiddling it worked OK for a while, and then one day it randomly did this again.  I took the ribbon cable out, then the hard drive, and realized one of the pins was pushed in (at the time I thought it was broken).  After some reading I decided to sacrifice a ribbon cable.  What I did was yank a pin off of an old DVD drive that doesn't work and shoved it in the cable where the short pin was.  I made sure it was seated well, plugged in in, and hoped for the best.  To my delight it worked without a hitch for maybe a year or more.
And then a little more than a month ago we had lightning strike a power line outside of our house and it fried my motherboard.  I now have a replacement board, but after all of the taking apart and moving around and stuff, the hard drive is back to its old antics.  The pin-in-the-cable trick wasn't working anymore.  After I realized that the pin wasn't broken half-way but rather pushed in, I grabbed some needlenose pliers and pulled it out.  It now will plug into any ribbon cable just fine and the computer recognizes it, but it's slow at POST and hangs the system when booting the OS, whether it be Linux or Windows.  Knoppix CDs boot just fine, although slower.  S.M.A.R.T. sees no problems.
Basically I'm wondering 2 things.  First of all, is there anything I can do to get around the hangs?  And second, I'm considering buying an external hard drive enclosure for regular 3.5 inch hard drives and using it as an external USB drive.  Since the drive does still work and I can add/remove stuff while booted in Knoppix, and the main issue seems to be my system hanging, I figure, maybe, I can just plug in the drive when I need it after the computer is already booted up and it will work fine.  Does this sound like a reasonable expectation?

What you hear may sound like it's the hard drive, but it's really an electronic type of noise. Same with my PB. Try what BGreg said, and wait for the drive to spin down - you'll still hear the noise.
There was a thread about this issue several months ago, and IIRC the conclusion was that it's a normal noise, and that you should just ignore it if possible.
If you must make it quieter, set processor performance to the lowest setting in Energy Saver preferences. But it's not going away completely.

  • Force remove malware plug-in Internet Explorer 11 Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I have a malware add-on (browser search hijacker) that can't be removed using conventional means:
When I try to remove the by double clicking that add-on and select 'Remove', the Remove button is greyed out. See below:
How would I force remove the offending malware?
    Thanks.

    See: "How to
    Reset Internet Explorer settings".
    Then...
    1. Please download and run the
    Microsoft Safety Scanner tool (freeware).
    2. Reboot your PC.
    3. Please download and update Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free
    4. Reboot Windows in
    Safe Mode and run a
    Full Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
    5. Download and Run AdwCleaner and RogueKiller
    (Freeware)
    6. Reboot and Test.

  • Gummiboot loader.conf without a keyboard plugs in, hangs at boot menu.

Hi, i've set up gummiboot to boot without a timeout, on the arch entry conf. This works fine with a keyboard plugged in, but whenever I take the keyboard out and boot without the keyboard plugged in, Gummiboot seems to ignore the timeout, and puts me to a menu, waiting for input, which obviously I can't select cos there's no keyboard plugged in. Is there any way to get round this?

I don't know the answer but maybe I can help you find it yourself?  I'm sure there is a log with some sort of error message.  I'm still sort of new, so I'm not sure about what logs keep track of what, or the names of all the logs.
Here are the ones I know: /var/log/Xorg.0.log, journalctl, and dmesg.  You can use tail -n <number of lines to show> to go straight to the bottom of the log.
    Also, maybe theses will help:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Boot_Debugging
    and
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gu … leshooting
The troubleshooting problem is different but maybe deleting the $ESP/loader directory and all of its contents, and recreate the necessary configuration files. will work for this one too.
Hopefully doing that doesn't mess anything up even more, I'd feel bad.
I'm sorry but I don't think you're going to be much help. It doesn't even boot.... it waits on the gummiboot menu whenever a keyboard is not plugged in is the problem
Ah, then yes, I will be absolutely no help at all.  Good day to you, sir.

  • Import from SD card hanging

New laptop (toshiba qosimo w/20gb ram, ssd and hd), new os (windows 8), new version of lightroom (5.2) new bloatware (toshiba), new problems.
I can usually get one import from sd cards to work per boot in lightroom.  when lightroom ejects and a new card is put in (I run several cameras per shoot) it shows the pix thumbnails, correctly identifies the new images and then just hangs on import. the import bar jumps to about 2/3 and stops, even running over night does nothing.  At this point trying to use the windows explorer browser to access the sd card also hangs explorer. I can click the close "x" on the import status bar and it does eventually close though I must physically eject the card before the "Import Results" error dialog pops up.  I can then re-mount the sd card and manually copy the files into thir dated folders, making new ones as needed, and sync the parent folder in lightroom and continue working but that is very tedious.
I've made sure all bloatware is not indexing, importing, or any other bad behavior. I have tried killing of all apps and background bloatware item by item with no success. Rebooting allows me one additional import but hangs on the second sd card.
While it criples lightroom I doubt it's lightroom's fault.  Anyone have any ideas on how to troubleshoot?  If it matters I'm using the built-in SDHC card reader which is a realtek pcie unit running the "RiconMan.exe" process.  I've even tried killing that and letting it restart with no joy.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark
    UPDATE:
My third paragraph made me think it could be connected to the built-in reader so I searched around and eventually "borrowed" my wife's USB reader.  I was able to do 2 imports on it after the 2nd import on the built in reader had failed.  Looks like it's a conflict between realtek's reader and lightroom.  I can copy files from several sd cards in explorer so this problem only seems to afflict lightroom.

I have no idea.... just that the Java Plug-in doesn't work after upgrading to 6._7
    Queenk

    Thanks for the suggestions ChuckBing.
However, the OS is an actual French/German/etc installation, not an English installation of Vista that have had the regional settings modified.
I did seem to find a solution, though. It seems like the online JRE installer Update 2 works on foreign installations of Windows Vista. I was using the original 1.6.0 JRE online installer.
So my own fault for not using the latest install, but I partially blame Sun for even allowing me to download a broken installer.

  • Bootcamp 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 ALL crash my windows 7

I have been trying to solve this problem for a little while now, but to no avail. I have Win 7 x64 ultimate installed on my Early 2009 Mac Pro, running the latest Snow Leopard. I'm using the new ATI 5870 card, which is great, but if I install any version of bootcamp above 2.0, my computer crashes immediately after startup. I'll see the Windows login screen, login, watch the desktop load, and after about 10 seconds, the the screen turns to fuzz and restarts. EVERY TIME. After this happened so many times, I installed the Bootcamp 2.0 software from my Mac Pro disc and it works without a hitch.
What is with these drivers? Anyone have the same problem, but fix it? I have tried 3.0, 3.1, and now 3.2, which had my hopes up, but still the same problem.
    The only setups I can get to work are;
a.) No boot camp drivers installed
    b.) Boot camp 2.0 installed.
    Any other update crashes it.
    Thanks for the help!

Ah, I don't know what if any change there is in Boot Camp 3.2, seems we are on our own doing the dirty testing on these. Otherwise, I'd say "no" to MacDrive8 and take a look at Paragon-Software (on special) for their HFS+ driver.
Apple needs an "on/off" switch and to either put in another control panel or expand the Boot Camp control panel they have now to have more features.
I prefer the separate approach, don't install unless asked, have a custom installer so you can skip on AppleHFS/MNT 'feature'.
MacDrive8 does disable and take over HFS+ service but not sure how stable and good.
Some HFS+ filenames are definitely not valid to Windows and to NTFS, any with special characters for instance and can cause that 'green bar' and hang Explorer (bring it to its knees) - I had to clean up all my files to make sure there were none with quotes and other marks.

  • ITunes 7 does recognize 30gb 5th gen and will not update to 1.2

Upgraded to iTunes 7, program no longer recognizes 30GB 5th gen. Windows does pick it up. So, I plug it in, explorer window for removeable drive appears, iTunes does not launch. With iTunes open, explorer window opens and there is no effect in iTunes.
By restarting the Windows iPod service, plugging in the iPod and launching iTunes manually I am able to sync the library. At this point I am prompted to update iPod to software version 1.2. If I choose to, iTunes seems to begin the updating process, but within 10 seconds the iPod becomes safe to disconnect and is effectively ejected from iTunes. The progress bar indicating the software update continues indefinitely (I have let it run for over an hour like this, nothing actually happens.)
I reverted back to iTunes 6.x and all issues ceased. However I would like to be able to use version 7 and update to the newest iPod software 1.2. I have tried everything else in the "iPod recognized by Windows but not iTunes topic" and nothing seems to get me anywhere.
There has been no loss of functionality of the iPod, the only issues are with iTunes recognizing it.
I am kind of at a loss here.

OK, I've had a similar problem and spent a few weeks banging my head off my desk in frustration. The iTunes 7 "upgrade" effectively made anything connected to my USB 2 ports unrecognized by Windows. After a lot of forum searching, following all relavent Apple help articles and such, I was no further along. I finally got up and running again, but I have to use iTunes 6, which means I cannot upgrade the iPod software. I'm waiting for a few updates down the road before I upgrade again. Be sure to create a system restore point before trying to upgrade again! I can't stress this enough! Anyway, to see the steps I went through to eventually solve my problem (and hopefully yours) go here:
    http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?t=121214
It's my opinion that with a lot of users, iTunes 7 corrupts the windows registry somehow... C'mon, Apple, fix this buggy piece of crap already! As it stands, the only reason I use it is for my iPod, otherwise I rip, burn, organise, and tag with Musicmatch... no worries so far with that...

Hi, You are correct, it wouldn't have anything to do with IE8. Ever since Win7 came out, I know it has IE8 so I just connect the two in my brain.LOL  I read that you can't go back to any other version of IE, with Win7.
Firefox calls their add ons "plug-ins"; Internet Explorer calls their add ons "ActiveX Controls". Adobe calls Flash Player a browser "plug-in" Now most likely you will find the Flash Player listed in the add/remove or programs and features section, where programs are listed. Confused yet? Now when Flash Player is installed using IE, 4 files are installed into
the Flash folder. That alone is not enought for Flash Player to work. In the IE add ons, the Shockwave Flash Object, yes the ActiveX Control and it is the Control must be there and enabled.
Now if Flash Player is installed in FF, also 4 files are installed into the Flash folder. You have 8 files, so you have all of what you need for Flash Player to work using IE since you have the SWO. FF also needs that "control", but it is called
SWF(Shockwave Flash) and it must be enabled. The SWF is called a "plug-in".
The only thing I found on Mozilla is how to install the Flash Player "plug-in" which I thot they meant the SWF. No they
mean how to install what Adobe calls Flash Player, i.e. the "plug-in" Now are you confused? But you already have Flash Player installed and the 4 files are sitting in the Flash folder. Dizzy yet?
I am going to Microsoft and it may be tomorrow before we get an answer. LOL

  • Ipod's headphone jack problem?

so, currently i have a 30 gb ipod classic. i've owned this ipod since last year...bought it on may, 2007, from circuit city...i think. so i bought the ipod, w/o any warranty. the ipod works perfectly, until 2 days ago, when only the left side of the headphone works...its not the headphone since i've tested the headphone with my laptop, and other ipods. but it looks like the headphone jack have been pulled down, causing it to move around, and its making the headphone not plugged properly. i've never opened the inside of an ipod before...and i'm not planning to either. my question is, can it still be fixed?
ps: i dont have anything from that ipod's box...the paper and stuff. the only thing remaining from the original ipod box is the ipod and the cable.

You raise an interesting point rjo3491. (Wow, that's such a 21st century name, man! )
I've noticed over the years how many people leave the headphones plugged in but then wrap the headphone cord tight around the their player when they're storing it in their pocket or bag. This is definitely a recipe for disaster, since this puts strain on the cord and on the headphone socket. I winch every time I see it.
Imagine two pieces of plastic, glued to each other at an angle to form a letter L. (No, not with super-glue.) If you then put strain on each leg of the piece, eventually the glued joint will fail. This is how the headphone socket is connected inside the iPod - well, the pins of the socket will be soldered directly to the circuit board, and the solder is simply electrical glue.
Although this is robust enough, if a plug is hanging out of the socket and pulling to one side because the cord is forcing it to, then eventually the socket will become unreliable or even fail completely. In larger items, you will probably find the socket has wires from the back of the socket to the circuit board, but in the iPod, there isn't the space, or need.
My advice is; if you're going to wrap the cord of any device around the device itself (iPod included) (and with the cord still connected), then leave some slack so that the tension is not there. Even then, make sure that the iPod and plug will not be knocked about or subject to strain from anything else in the bag/pocket.
By the way, once you ensure the connection does not get strained, leaving the plug in can be a good idea. It will stop dust/pocket fluff from getting into the socket. Dust and fluff can cause poor connections.
As for the original question in this thread:
    hahasniper wrote:
    Can it be fixed?
Yes, I think it probably can, but..., it will take someone who is experienced in electrical soldering and who has worked on similar small devices previously. If you seek out professional help, it may well cost more than it's worth.

  • IMac screen gains dead pixels from Mac Store visit???

My 3.4gHz i7 2011 27" iMac died, so I brought it into "The Mac Store" here in Portland (an authorized Apple reseller and repair facility).  According to the work order, they changed out the logic board and the video card under warranty.  When I picked it up last week, I noticed there was now a spot of 4-8 stuck dark pixels (all next to eachother in one big splotch) on the LCD that wasn't there when I dropped it off.  I opened it up to put my hard drive back in and I saw that the SMT connector on the top of the video card (ambient light sensor?) was damaged, the plastic was broken and the plug was hanging on by gravity, not plastic tabs.  So it still works, but the cable could pop off on it's own.
My assessment is careless work.  The LCD was either swapped for a different unit, or damaged by the repair techs.  Is it possible that a LCD can be damaged in a way that it receives a spot of dead pixels?  AFAIK thats a sign of bad transistors and more of a manufacturing defect, which leads me to suspect the LCD was swapped out.  The pixels are next to eachother both vertically and horizontally, so I'd doubt it's a video card issue.
The way the video card is damaged shows me they were careless during installation of the new card, and either didn't notice it (doubtful) or figured I'd never notice so they left it.  Just speculation on my part, but as someone who does IT consulting for a living myself, it seems really sloppy either way.
I emailed the customer service address twice (in response to my work ticket) and the local store manager once, but have not received a reply or acknowledgement.  I had to reschedule a second appointment and go in on my own.  When I did the, the guy who received my iMac at the service desk said while it is not his call, he doubts they will fix it as "Apple has a policy regarding a certain number of allowable dead pixels", which completely neglects the fact that my LCD was perfect when I brought in the machine for unrelated service.  He also said that the fact that I noticed the bad video card connector shows I was opening up the computer to reach non user servicable parts and therefore they probably wouldn't cover that.  Which is ridiculous to me for a couple reasons, first, the Apple Warranty terms of service say nothing about voiding warranty for changing out the hard drive, second, it's illegal to void a warranty if I didn't damage the unit while servicing a user servicable part, and third, that gives them a self defining ability to damage anything inside my computer and then if I notice it they use the fact that I noticed it as a way to get out of fixing it.  Kind of a catch-22 if you ask me.
So I'll be posting my follow ups to what happens here, but in the meantime, my questions -
    - Can a LCD gain bad pixels from careless handling?  Can a splotch of bad pixels be related to a bad video card?
    - Has anyone had service like this from Mac Store or Apple before?  I paid a lot of cash for this system and this is pretty frustrating.
    regards,
    Rob

Follow up post - I brought the system back, they were really nice, the escalated it, I got it back in 2 days, they must have had to overnight some stuff for that, and probably ate the costs themselves. The replacement LCD is perfect, the backlight board was swapped, everything is good, and they were nice to deal with the whole time.
I should have given them a chance before posting here.  They went out of their way to treat me well, and that is appreciated.  Please ignore the frustrated tone from my first post, it was just grumpiness on my part.  Crap happens, customer service is how that crap is dealt with, and they did a very good job.

SAP Exit variables were errorneously not allowed to be used in non content systems, this is corrected (updated 23 May 2006)
In variable editor for Formula variables replaced by attribute value there were not offered all possible numeric variables offered. This caused a runtime error if especially variables created with Query Designer 3.x were edited. This is corrected now (updated 23 May 2006)
Due to a program error any saved formula might have been saved incorrectly, if it is using any variables (formula or text variables). This is a critical error which might lead to not understandable error messages during query execution or missing text variable replacement for formulas. The error is corrected the was that any corrupt query can be loaded and after a save it is repaired. We strongly recommend to use this hotfix for all installations!
    SAP Business Explorer Report Designer
Introduced Versioning and added Version checks. More recent versions of Report Designer are able to design reports with new features. If such a report is edited with an older version of Report Designer some design features might be lost in the report or loading the report might not be possible.
Images from Mime repository can be added to the report.
Sequence of Report Sections is saved and loaded in the right order.
Query Text Elements for more than one Dataprovider are correctly dsiplayed in the Report Item. Property Dialog shows the name of the Dataprovider of the selected Text Element.
Conditional Formatting for Hierarchy nodes enabled.
    Open Dialog/Save Dialog
Value Help Dialog (Characteristics Restriction/Filter Selection)
Search can be performed by entering the search criteria in value help dialog and then by pressing the <Enter> keyboard button</i>

    <i>Symptom
There are errors in Business Explorer components such as Analyzer, Report Designer, Web Application Designer, BEx Query Designer, Open/Save dialog, input help dialog.
    Other terms

    Reason and Prerequisites
You have installed NetWeaver 2004s BI Add-On Front End Patch 02 and you require advance corrections for certain problems that are caused by the BI Add-On (front end).
    Solution
You can find front end components (DLLs) that correct the errors described below attached to this note. We recommend that you replace all attached DLLs in the setup directory of the BI Add-On. However, you can also replace only those DLLs required to correct a problem that occurred in your system. The following sections describe which DLLs correct which problems.
The Open/Save dialog and the input help dialog are components that are used by several SAP Business Explorer applications. Therefore, check whether the correction of a problem that occurred in one of the applications is described there.
SAP Business Explorer Web Application Designer
Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
SAP Business Explorer Analyzer and variable screen
To correct the problems in the Analyzer and the variable screenthat are described here, the files BExApi.dll, BExAddin.dll, BExAnalyzer.xla, BExVariableScreen.dll, BExLocalFormulaParser.dll, BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
In the variable screen, the formats for the calendar year and calendar month characteristics have not been transferred correctly to the server. As a result, error messages occurred during the check.
When deleting an item in design mode, the system did not remove the displayed data of the item in analysis mode, rather it still displayed this data.
The display of the checkbox item and the radio button item has been corrected.
Errors occurred when you saved variants on the variable screen. All known errors have been corrected.
The security certificate for the Analyzer has expired and the advance corrections contain a new security certificate.
    SAP Business Explorer Query Designer
To correct the problems in the Query Designer that are described here, the files BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
Executing in the Web no longer opens different browser windows, rather the system always uses the same one.
In certain cases, queries that contain attributes were not saved correctly and as a result, they could not be loaded. This problem has been corrected in all known the cases.
In certain cases, queries that contain cells were not saved correctly and as a result, they could not be loaded. This problem has been corrected in all known the cases.
If queries are saved incorrectly (for example with incorrect attributes or incorrect cells), the system issues messages for all cells that are incorrect and it refers to a possible solution. Currently, all text messages are in English and they will be translated in Support Package Stack 8.
You can now insert and resort attributes at any position. You can do this using drag and drop or cut and paste.
Formula variables with replacement path now also permit the setting of the dimension.
If you edited attributes for an object and you then saved your changes immediately without exiting the field, the system did not save the change in this field. This problem has now been corrected.
Texts of attributes are now displayed correctly after you load the query again (up to now, the system displayed only technical names).
Constant selection was not displayed correctly in the context menu of a selection. Now, the system displays a checkmark to indicate that constant selection is activated.
Attributes of display hierarchies are now displayed and saved correctly.
The system no longer displays operators twice in technical names in formulas. Up to now, [+] + was displayed.
The system no longer displays UIDs as technical names for structure items and cells in formulas.
Structures with hierarchical structure items: In certain cases, structure elements disappeared during the hierarchical setup. However, these were saved and they caused an endless loop on the server. This problem has been corrected. You can use the BEx Query Designer to open queries that were saved with these "vanished" structure elements and the "vanished" structure elements are displayed again.
Errors and terminations on the server now cause a message in the message window of the BEx Query Designer telling you to close and to restart the BEx Query Designer.
For variables with replacement path, the system displayed too many characteristics (some technical characteristics) for the replacement characteristic. This problem has been corrected.
Further consistency checks have been implemented and the corresponding messages are displayed in the message list. The system now checks not only queries but it also checks restricted and calculated key figures, variables, and cells.
If you change a reusable element, the system does not save it automatically. An information message is displayed telling the user that saving the element may affect other queries. You can save the element normally using a save function in the context menu. If the element is used in the query, it is always saved with the query.
When you exit the BEx Query Designer, the system checks which reusable elements have not yet been saved. The system displays a list containing all unsaved elements and it asks the user whether these elements should be saved.
There is a new menu function "Save All" that saves all changed reusable elements.
When you select text variables, the system now displays the correct variable type "Text variable" in the selection.
You were able to use cut and paste for conditions and exceptions, but this always caused a runtime error. The functions have been deactivated for the moment to avoid program terminations.
You can now define variables with a replacement from an attribute.
You can now also display only posted values in the value help (read mode D).
For text and formula variables with replacement path, you can no longer create on the technical characteristic 1TEXT or 1FORMULA. Any existing variables (that were created with earlier versions) are reported as incorrect and you should delete them.
For restricted or calculated key figures or for variables, if you made changes and you saved these changes online and confirmed with OK, the system sometimes issued message "Not saved - object is not changeable". This problem has been corrected.
When creating new reusable elements, the system only checked if the user was authorized to create new elements for this InfoProvider, but it did not check whether the user was authorized to create elements with the given technical name. This problem has been corrected.
You can now move and copy cells using cut and paste and copy and paste. Unfortunately, you still cannot use drag and drop.
In formulas, multiline headers of structure elements are correctly displayed in single lines and no longer in several lines.
In certain cases, hierarchy node variables were saved without a corresponding hierarchy assignment and you could not use them in the report that was being executed.
After each time you saved data, the context menu of the currently selected object was incorrect. This problem has been corrected.
You could not delete filter values directly in the BEx Query Designer, rather you had to do this in the filter dialog.
You could not change characteristics of attributes.
The system now issues a corresponding success message after each successful saving process.
    SAP Business ExplorerReport Designer
Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
    Open dialog/Save dialog
Up to now, there are no advance corrections.
Input help dialog (characteristic value restriction/filter selection)
To correct the problems in the value help dialog that are described here, the files BExQueryDesigner.dll, BExSelectorAPI.dll and BExSelectorDialog.dll are required.
You can now edit variables in the value help for all variable types and not only for characteristic value variables.
You can now create variables in the value help for all variable types and not only for characteristic value variables.
When changing an offset, negative offsets are displayed as -5 and no longer as 5-. Variable offsets are displayed directly in the right area of the value help.
Variables as the to-value of intervals no longer cause terminations.
In the value range editor, the value you entered manually was not transferred if you directly chose the transfer arrow.
In the value help for reference characteristics, the system did not display the variables for basic characteristics and therefore there were usually fewer variables than in the BEx Query Designer.
When you select the hierarchy, the system now correctly displays the date and version variables and no longer hierarchy variables as was incorrectly the case before.
When you call the value help from the variable entry screen, the system sometimes displayed all master data values (read mode "M") even though it should only display posted values (read mode "D"). This problem has been corrected.</i>

  • Problem with Nano after Updating

I recently bought an iPod Nano (Model MA005LL). When I first tried to put songs into it from iTunes it seemed like it worked - iTunes recognized it and successfully transferred the files. Then I noticed that couple of purchased songs didn't make it to my Nano's Playlist. I realized that I had to update the iPod Firmware. So, I downloaded & installed the latest Updater on my PC (running Win2K).
That's when the problem happened - during the update process, both my PC and Nano froze. So, I had no choice but to disconnect the Nano and kill the updater process. Since then neither does my iTunes recognize my Nano nor does the updater.
I think my PC recognizes it because whenever I disconnect the USB chord, the PC complains that I unplugged a device without stopping it first. Also, whenever I try to open Windows Explorer, it behaves extremely slow; whenever I plug it out, explorer goes back to normal.
I have tried ALL the 5 Rs and nothing works - the updater freezes everytime I try to use it with the iPod; so I can't restore it using the updater.
Another strange thing is that when I click on About, it not only says zero Songs & Photos, it also says 0 KB for Capacity & Available. The version does say 1.2 though. Also, the Format says Unknown.
So, at this point of time, my Nano is pretty much useless. I would really appreciate if anybody could please help me fix it such that I don't need to take it back to the store.

look on page 16(Help Nano 2g update problem) and if that does not help there is a really good one that I used myself on page 20(Problem with the update) which has a really good step by step process that returned mine to perfect working condition.
