Plymouth and SDDM smooth transition

Hello guys
I switched my desktop environment and desktop manager to Plasma 5 and SDDM recently. It looks totaly beautiful. While changing my DE and DM I've decied to use Plymouth to complete my new awesome looking desktop . It works very well with paw-arch and my custom written theme. However, I could not find a way to make transition from Plymouth to SDDM smoother.
When Plymouth quits SDDM starts but in the time gap between two processes I'm facing with TTY1 and kernel outputs.
Do you have an idea about wheter there is a way to make this transition smoother?
Thanks for any help
PS: I'm adding my config & service files to help:
mkinitcpio.conf
# vim:set ft=sh
# MODULES
# The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
# run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
# in this array. For instance:
# MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
MODULES="i915"
# BINARIES
# This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
# wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
# override the actual binaries included by a given hook
# BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
BINARIES="setfont"
# FILES
# This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
# as-is and are not parsed in any way. This is useful for config files.
FILES=""
# HOOKS
# This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
# modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
# Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
# order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
# help on a given hook.
# 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
# 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
# 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
# Examples:
## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
# HOOKS="base"
## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
## work as a sane default
# HOOKS="base udev autodetect block filesystems"
## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
## No autodetection is done.
# HOOKS="base udev block filesystems"
## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.
# HOOKS="base udev block mdadm encrypt filesystems"
## This setup loads an lvm2 volume group on a usb device.
# HOOKS="base udev block lvm2 filesystems"
## NOTE: If you have /usr on a separate partition, you MUST include the
# usr, fsck and shutdown hooks.
# Diabled usbinput
HOOKS="base udev plymouth autodetect modconf block filesystems fsck keymap consolefont keyboard efistub_copy"

  • Dock and other smooth transitions are sticking or "shaking"

Just got a new 15 inch Retina MBP and so far the experience has been extremely positive. The only problem I'm having are that transitions that should usually be smooth are sticking and shaking back and forth. The dock, for example, comes up smoothly, jumps to about half and then comes fully up again. The same thing happens when it moves back down. Similar things are happening when apps transition to full screen, or when I scroll through websites. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have exactly the same problem and your clue worked for me too...
I've opened AutoCAD, closed and the "shaking"/"jittering" in the dock and transitions disappeared.
It looks like when the intel "GPU" works it has shaking/jittering effect and when device switches to nVidia it resolves the problem.
Hope Apple Support team can reproduce and debug the problem and make the patch.

    Daniil

  • Preset imports and "smooth" transitions

    Good Morning!
I have 2 things that i needed help on:
    1) I always struggle with each update of Premier. I always lose my presets (effects) that are both in "My presets" and My favorites. I don't know why these don't transport with the update, but they are gone again. I did take the time to export my old presets in 8.0, but now in 9.0 I don't see where it gives me the option tyo import anymore? Can someone help?
    2) Once I either get my back my presets or create new ones, I struggle wit that perfect transition. Anotherwords, I always seem to drag a prest to my picture and then when it plays, the frame is frozen for a split second, then effect executes, then effect stops. I always have to go in and edit the effect and drag the "button" for rotation or scale to either end of the frame to get my smoothness? So ..
      - Is there a way to create a preset and have it know I want the scale or rotation to start at the very beginning and end at the very end?
      - And is ther a "best way" to create the movie. Like do I add transitions first and then drag presets, or drag presets and then add transition. It seems if I do either or, my prest gets truncated in the image.
    Thanks for any help!!

For the "smooth Transitions," one must set the In & Out Points of the Clips, so that there are adequate Handles, to allow for the Transitions. If one does not have adequate Handles, one of two things will happen, depending on the structure of the Clip:
If there are no more Frames, then the last one will be repeated, as a Freeze Frame.
If there are Frames, but they are in the next "scene," then material that was believed to be removed, will appear in the Transitions.
This ARTICLE will explain Handles in detail. The secret is to move the In and/or Out Point, to allow for adequate Handles.
    Good luck,

  • [plymouth] and dm -plymouth.services

    hi,
do the latest versions of plymouth need to have ie slim-plymouth.service enabled to allow the "smooth transition" to the login manager ? Or has it become unecessary ?
Before, up to  version 0..8.8-11 it was running perfectly but with the latest version it stops on a black login screen.
So, disabling slim-plymouth.service and simply enabling slim.service solved this problème.
I don't unterstand why <dm>-plymouth.services are not running anymore
    thanks

    any answer ?

  • Need smoother transitions between .swf's

I have a website I am doing that has a flash intro with
music. I then have the site itself which is also designed in flash.
These 2 swf files sit on 2 different .html pages with an action
that tells one frame to go to the next "page".
My client whats it to be a smoother transition, almost like
its going within the same .swf fles. I tried to save the flash .fla
and just importat and try to figure it out how to import the
intro.swf file into my main flash site and to just add it at the
beginning. Bu this didn't work either...

    Try using a fade-in or a fade-out
    located in transitions
    between the pics
play with the timing of the fade
    this helps between all pics
but adds alot of time to the movie.

  • Handling Smooth Transitions in SAP Lumira Chart Extensions

I assume render is the function that does all the drawing logic for a specific Chart Type in VIZ Packer Utility. How do we handle any updates to the Data and do a smooth transition from the initialized State of the Chart to a final State as defined by Data.
Currently I see render function as to Initialize SVG and implement some code that would display the Chart with initial Data.
-- When the Data gets updated - I don't want to call render function which initializes my SVG again
Is there a different function that makes use of the SVG that was initialized in render function and then apply updates to it that would create a smooth transition from Initial to Final State.

    Hi,
I believe your question has been answered in your duplicate post here: http://scn.sap.com/community/lumira/blog/2014/06/28/cool-chart-extensions-demonstrated-at-lumira-codejam-vancouver#comment-502992
In summary, You need to use VizPacker to package the extensions, then deploy those extensions to C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\extensions\ . this process is covered in detail in the supporting documentation SAP Lumira SDK (Chart extensions). See here: http://help.sap.com/lumira#section4

  • Smooth transitions betwen audio

im ptreety new to the FCP world and am having trouble getting a smooth transition between two bits of audio (first bit is in sync with person on camera - second bit is voice over with other video) they are supposed to sound as though they were recorded at the same time (ie the guy you see talking at first is just continuing to talk over the other picture) but they weren't... the second section of audio was recorded at a different time so the level is a little different and the background hiss is different - and that's the biggest problem... when you hear that sound of nothing change its really easy to spot the cut in the audio... how can i smooth out this cut without having 'atmos' recorded at the locations when they were shooting?
can i dissolve the two bits of audio or something?
help! this is driving me crazy!

Get a third track of room tone sound put it under both clips to start. Yes, you can do audio dissolves. Slect the edit point on the clips and hit Command OptionT to add a dissolve. Also, you probably want to look into the audio filters for some EQ, etc. This is the basic way to get started. You might not be able to "cure" the problem, but you should be able to get it to sound a lot better.

  • BEGINNER: Best Framerate for smooth transitions

My animation is jagged in movement.
What would be the best framerate for a smoother transition?
Right now I'm using the default 12FPS
Should I make it higher or lower and if so, by how much?
    This is the animation:
    http://www.tarilynquinn.com/site/SE_INDEX.html
    Help would be much appreciated.

Higher framerates do make for smoother animations -- up to a point. Depending upon how many things you have going on and the computer in use a really high frame rate can cause some machines to choke and then it will look worse than a lower frame rate.
I recommend getting a rate that you work at and that you tailor all your designs to meet work at that rate. That way if you need to combine assets later they will be compatible. And you will have a feeling for the rate.
At work we are now doing everything at 24 and at home I use a 30. I think both of those are pretty reasonable and that most machines these days will be able to handle those rates.
Of course there are always times when for a very specific reason I might use a different rate, but I only do that knowingly and not just because, "eh, seems like a good idea."

  • How do I do smooth transitions between clips?

After trimming clips, what type of effects do I need to use for smoother transitions? I tried several types of video transitions, for example Crossover Dissolve between the clips. But I want to show as if I never did any cuts or clippings even though I have done it. Did I make this clear?

You may want to ask yourself, "Why do I want to use a transition?"
As you think about this question watch any network TV program and look for the transitions.  You will generally find very few transitions in a professional video. Those you do find will generally be dips to black rather than cross-dissolves.  You will generally find cross-disolves being used only where the editor wanted to give a sense of time changing.
This s a situation in which less is more.  I believe that a 1 sec cross-dissolve draws more attention to itself than would a 0 second cut.

I've been seeing messages exactly like that (and many, many other kinds) in the Console since the first version of OS X.  They look menacing but are harmless.
You don't need any kind of security software.
Just surf the web carefully, pay attention to where you're going and don't install anything that you don't recognize.  If you are asked to enter an admin user name and password, DON'T.  Unless you know for sure that you initiated the installation from a known and reliable source (like Apple).
Mac malware relies on social engineering.  No amount of security/anti-virus, blah, blah, blah software is going to help.

It's simple... I want the Illustrator pen tool to ALWAYS make corner annchor points and NEVER smooth.  Right now I have to convert every single one of them, or I have to do a work around every time I draw a line and make one of the handles disappear.  Is there some simple setting out there that will just "make it so?"@

The video I am watching this guy is just dragging every line to make curves.  And every anchor point is a corner.  He is not switching back and forth between the pen and the anchor points tool, and he is not using the convert points tool.  He draws a curved line and starts another straight line only to curve it with a click and a drag.  It is super efficient, and I could save a world of time if I could figure out what he is doing.

  • How to make powermac G4 400GHz faster and run smoother.

I really want to make my Power Mac G4 much faster and run smoother, can someone help me do this.
P.S. I'm running mac OS X 10.4.11 and I'm trying to install mac OS X 10.6 snow leopard will upgrading my OS help improve performance.

    dragon,
First thing to do, and the cheapest, is more RAM. It's not cool to recommend retailers, etc....but you really want to get the right stuff. Macs can be finicky about RAM. You can get the right stuff in many places...IF you know what you're doing. That being said, most 'pros' here in Discussions recommend macsales.com (OWC) and crucial.com because you'll get the right stuff at decent prices. Both have memory 'advisors', where you type in your machine type and get recommendations for the correct memory. Do that yourself, even if you're not ready to buy today.
macsales.com has 512mb for about $30. Crucial wants $60; dunno why; they used to be comparable. One plan, on your limited budge, would be to get one 512mb stick; then save up and buy THE SAME product when you've saved up $30 more. I wouldn't mix. It can be done but you'll save yourself some grief just buying the same sticks from the same place. You'll see a pretty good improvement if you go to 1GB+.
You'll also see pretty good performance if you limit the number of apps you install, particularly "third party plugins". Keep your Mac lean and mean and it'll perform well for years. Be sure to run Permissions Repair EVERY TIME you install an app. I say this because that 60GB HD will fill up pretty fast. Maybe it'd be better just to get the one 512MB stick, giving you 1.5GB RAM. Then, save up for a bigger HDD. You'll need those two upgrades before even thinking of a CPU upgrade.
Get the free utility Macaroni and let it run daily, weekly, monthly tasks. Read thru other posts here in the 'Using ur PMac G4' and "Exanding ur PMac G4".
Please come back if you have any more questions. HTH

  • Text edges are ridged and not smooth

I have FCE and I used livetype to add some annimated text to my video project. But when I add the text to my FCE project on playback the text edges are ridged and not smooth. How can I correct this. F.Y.I. my video projects are in HD, not sure if that would make a difference but just wanted to provide the info.
Here is a link to the what i mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMDLPLQdOgE
If you watch the video in HD and about 30 secs into the clip when its just the text on the screen you can see exactly what i mean

    1. Set your LiveType project properties to match your Final Cut Sequence settings.
In the Project Properties window you can also set the render quality. Make sure it is set to "Normal".
    2. When you add the LiveType object to your FCE timeline, it will need to be rendered. This is indicated by the colored stripe above the clip on the timeline.
    3. The Canvas always shows a low-res proxy, to better enable real time playback. Final Cut Pro will let you connect a calibrated broadcast quality monitor or at the very least, an excellent TV. This is the only way to see what you really have. I don't use FCE, so I don't know if it has this capability.

  • Smooth transitions -

I ove my videos to have a ice smoth, professional fee to them. I couldm use some help with transistions.
Weh I add an effect (zoom, tilt, pan, etc.) and add a transition. the efffect aways defaults to the end of the transition giving a "jerky" look and feel. I go into the keyfram editor a4d slide the start points of the zoom and the scale to the extreme part of the frame and it looks GREAT. But boy, does this take time.!
Is ther any default in the system to tell the effect to go full frame regardless of transition time? i cant find anything - and I'm sure there is an easier way.
    Thanks

    Hi there! Thanks
I import still frames into PE8. I then use a variety of transitions, Twist, fade, flip awaye, etc.
For my motion to the pics, I use a combination of presets in PE8 along with custom made ones. (Like a zoom in, rotate right)
When I create the preset, my keyframes are at the extremes of the image, into the transition on the keyframe on the editor panel. When  I then drag that prest to another still frame, it positions the keyframes at the transition/still intersection point.
What I really need is :
    1) Drag stills to the timeline
    2) add presets that go are active full frame
    3) Thern add transitions without transitions"pushing" my keyfrmaes in.
    Make sense?
    Thanks you
