Policy definition corrupted?

I am trying to edit a Group Policy on a server 2012R2 box.
I get a popup error which says "Resource '$(string.VerMgmtAuditModeEnable)' referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File c:\windows\policydefinitions\inetres.admx, line 1495, column 249"
And the InternetExplorer nodes are completely missing from the policy editing Window (under User Policies, Administrative Templates\Windows Components) so I can't view or edit these settings.  I have five DC's in the domain and - not surprisingly
- they all show the same symptoms.
SFC doesn't find anything to object to.
Do I have a corrupted file? How can I  (should I) attempt to repair this?
No sig is a good sig

Hi Andrew,
>>I have five DC's in the domain and - not surprisingly - they all show the same symptoms.
Based on the description, we should use Central Store for storing .admx files. The location for Central Store is:
%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions
>>get a popup error which says "Resource '$(string.VerMgmtAuditModeEnable)'
referenced in attribute displayName could not be found. File c:\windows\policydefinitions\inetres.admx, line 1495, column 249"
To fix the issue, we can try to copy inetres.admx and inetres.adml from
%systemroot%\policyDefinitions folder on a computer with no such problem and then copy the files to the Central Store; or we can try to download the inetre.admx and inetres.adml from Microsoft download center.
Specifically, the location for inetres.admx is:
%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions
The location for inetres.adml is:
%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions\[MUIculture]
(for example, the U.S. English ADMX language-specific file will be stored in
%systemroot%\sysvol\domain\policies\PolicyDefinitions\en-us)
If we want to choose to download the .admx files for internet explorer, the following link can be referred to.

  • Unable to create Policy Definitions in CM 4.1.1c

I'm trying to create a Policy Definition and assign it to an Application I created, but I when I click Submit an error pops up stating:
Transaction not completed. Policy entry cannot be updated as there is no policy entry of type Other. Please create a policy of type Other or update the type of this policy to Other.
I want this Policy to be type Basic, not Other, and there is a type Other - which I'm not choosing. So why is this error popping up? I first tried this using version 4.1.1d, but it failed so I downgraded to 4.1.1c and it still fails.
I've attached a Word document with a few screen shots showing the error, and the fact that there is a type Other, even though I don't want to use it.
Am I doing this wrong or have I stumbled on a bug?

    Hello,
Read "Create Download Page for Embedded PL/SQL Gateway" section in following documentation.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e13363/up_dn_files.htm#CIHDDJGF
<li> The first option is to modify the PL/SQL function WWV_FLOW_EPG_INCLUDE_MOD_LOCAL to include the PL/SQL download_my_file procedure and then recompile
<li> The second, described below, is to create a page in the application that has a before header branch to the PL/SQL download_my_file procedure. You then create a hidden item on that page for the document ID of the document to be downloaded.
I like and have used second option because, you can re-use apex specific features like Authorization schemes etc.
Please note that if you want to invoke custom procedures via URL, then you should allow them at web-server level. Above documentation explains this for EPG.

  • Varying amount of policy definitions on WAE devices

Apologies if this question has already been addressed.
What is the correct procedure for bringing all other WAE devices to the same amount of Policy definitions as the CM Manager?
It is a relatively small setup for now, so everything can be part of the "AllDevicesGroup"
    Any pointers/assistance greatly appreciated.

  • WAAS Central Manager Policy Definitions across several device groups

    Hi there,
I am trying to find a way to apply a custom application policy(s) to multiple device groups. ( not the AllDevicesGroup).
I have not found a way to export or import the policy.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Todd

I have my "Core" WAE's in a separate device group to prevent them from recieving a policy or setting intended for Edge WAEs.  For example, If someone sets the assignment method to hash, I certianly dont want that pushed to my Core, ( using Mask assignment)
However, a custom application definition WILL need to be applied to both Core and Edge WAE's. Therefore I need a way to create the policy for all devices group and copy out and apply selected custom policies to the Core device group as well.
Problem:  I have QUALYS Vulnerability Scanners that wreak havoc on WAE's by opening 1000's of sessions and not propoerly closing them, causing TFO Overload conditions, throughout the network.
Solution: create a custom policy to set Scanner IP action to pass-through. there are 30+ scanners so the match condition is lenthy and woudl be painful to build manually for each device group.
new Problem: need to apply this to multiple device groups.

  • Default domain policy got corrupted and can't reverse to old system state?

Initially we had two servers which was 2003 and 2008, after adding additional two more servers (server 2012) in the network and then demoted the old servers. and that was quite while ago. after carefully looking a the default policy I have noticed that there
so many policies was applied on default policy object which led me to disable them and created a backup for both domain controller and the domain policy.
now the problem is stupidly run
dcgpofix  thought it will restore the domain policy to it's original state but it did not instead it came up with an empty default policy template and inside there is no security policy which i can edit. However i did tried to restore the old policy which
i backed up but i get an access denied error.
Now i realise that the original default policy was from server 2003 and the current schema domain functional level is 2012.  Currently
I can not login to any newly added computers to the domain via domain administrator account.
Please help! Is there any way to create a new default domain policy?

    Hi thanks for your input,
but that doesn't resolves my issue. However I have managed to fix it by modifying the Default policy systemflags and then run the command gpfixup.exe /ignoreschema /target :domain.com.
and after that I was able to restore my old gp from earlier backup.

  • ADF Security + Policy definition repository

    Hello,
As mentioned in the adf_security document, we are using the fusion middleware control to manage the security for deployed application. The policy store shows the principal, permission class details.
With this information it is very hard for user(administrators) to manage the security. With current information display, i think administrator also should be aware of the technical terms used in the application for particular resource or particular task flow name resource/region name.,
    e.g in fusionmiddleware control
    Permission Class     oracle.adf.controller.security.TaskFlowPermission
    Resource Name     /WEB-INF/flows/sampleTF.xml#sampleTF
    Permission Actions view
Is there way to provide some descriptive name for resource name , so that end user can understand what is task flow or resource is??
    Any idea??

    Hi,
no, not that I am aware of. Looking at the jazn-data.xml XSD
    <permission>
Child elements: <class>, <name>, <actions>There is no metadata available for a descriptive name of the permission class of the target name. OPSS would need to change their XML to allow descriptive names.

  • Never mind.  It was definitely a corrupted file.

Can one of the ACR gurus help this user in the Bridge Mac forum?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1948134#1948134
As far as I can tell, the file is corrupted, but I have no raw images from the Canon 450D/XSi to compare.
    Thanks in advance.
Problem solved.  The file was definitely corrupted.

What kind of document is it and what program were you using that wouldn't open it?
Have you looked under "Recently" opened?
You can do a spotlight search for content within the document to see if it can be located.
Do you have Time Machine running? If so, you can retrieve the last non-corrupt version.
If you provide more information we may be able to help you.

  • Office 2013 ADMX files not being read by group policy editor?

Okay so I'm having a real problem with the ADMX files for Office 2013. First of all we have a mix of 2012 R2 DCs with one 2008 R2 DC. The 2008 R2 is currently the primary DC. Here's what I've done so far:
Downloaded the ADMX files both 32 and 64bit.
Copied from my machine (Win7) to 2012R2 DC.
Downloaded and copied directly to the 2012R2DC policy definitions location
According to the research I've done, the Office 2013 template is supposed to appear under User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates. However it doesn't show up no matter what I do.
I consider myself fairly knowledgeable with GPOs but I'm stumped on this one. Can someone tell me what I'm missing here?

    Hi,
Have you copied the ADML files to the language folder in the PolicyDefinitions folder?

  • Group policy didnt work (SYSVOL replication)

    Hello experts
I need information and help. I have a 4 domain controller in my domain. 1 domian controller runs windows 2003 SP2 other domains are windows 2008 r2. Today i created Group policy for my testing environment then gpupdate /force from my PC. Then error:
User policy could not be updated successfully. The following errors were encount
    ered:
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \\golo
    mtbank.local\SysVol\golomtbank.local\Policies\{DEFBC9A3-F3F4-4598-BF04-ADFF097BC

ngs may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient
and could be caused by one or more of the following:
    a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
    b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller
has not replicated to the current domain controller).
    c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
I checked SYSVOL folders on my DCs. This folder created on primary domain controller but didn't created other 3 servers. Primary domain is Windows 2008 R2. I was moved Policy definitions (ADMX files) retrieved from the local machine to central store about
    few months ago.
Please help me how can solve this problem and how can replicate SYSVOL folder. THanks all

    > This is my production environments. Is it safe to do so?
Yes, mostly. To verify, check NTFRS event logs on all DCs and post the
last error message you find about replication issues.
    Resolution Step by step:
Backup Sysvol on each DC in case replication didn't work for a long time.
On all DCs stop and disable the ntfrs service.
On the PDC (netdom query pdc), do the D4 thing and enable/start ntfrs.
On all other DCs, do the D2 thing and enable/start ntfrs.

  • Can't see ADMX files in Group Policy Editor

I have a problem with ADMX files on my Server 2008 r2 group policy. I start by going to group policy editor. Then I browse to Computer Policy and then Administrative Templates. There is nothing in there... Which is weird... There has always been stuff there...
So, then I go in to add templates back in... I find the ADMX files in C:\Windows\Policy Definitions and also \\domain\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions and go to Add/Remove Templates. I click add and then browse to either directory (which has ADMX files
in them!) and see nothing. ADM files I can see fine. But ADMX I can't see. So, I see these links:
2008 R2 Server GP can't see admx files
    I can't see admx files
Looking at them, they both say I should be able to see ADMX files in the central store...So I manually copy the ones in C:\Windows\Policy Definitions to the SYSVOL central store. Restart group policy editor... Nothing there when I browse the settings...
Still not able to add templates.
It looks like group policy editor doesn't know about ADMX files at all... Is there a registry setting or something that "enables" the ADMX files?
    Thanks,
    Scott

In gpedit / gpmc, the menu item : "Action -> Add/Remove Templates", is only applicable/useful for the older/legacy ADM files - the menu item isn't relevant for ADMX/ADML files at all.
The most common reason for an "empty" list of Administrative Templates settings, is an incorrect configuration of the Central Store.
The usual guidance tells us to place ADMX files here, to setup a CS:
    \\domain\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\
This folder/file structure has to mimic what you would see at: C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\
If your domain is named contoso.com, you would need this:
    contoso.com\SYSVOL\contoso.com\Policies\PolicyDefinitions\
In that folder, reside your ADMX files.
You also need the relevant locale subfolder, and in there, you need the matching ADML files.
The best way to establish that, is to go to  C:\Windows\PolicyDefinitions\ on your RSAT PC, or DC, and copy all the contents including subfolders and files, into the equivalent folder of your CS.
Then exit GPMC (if you had it opened), and re-launch GPMC. No need to to anything else in GPMC, it will automatically, by default, look for a CS first, and, if no CS is found, will revert to the local policydefinitions folder structure.
But, if the CS folder structure exists *AND* is incomplete or incorrect, you will get your symptom.

  • MBAM Group Policy Problems

I am trying to install and configure MBAM 2.0. I have installed all of the components on two separate servers. Server 1 has sccm 2012
integration and gpo policy templates. Server two has the rest. When I load Group Policy Management the templates do not appear. I have manually extracted and copied the templates in the local policy definitions and still nothing. Any ideas?

By default the Group Policy Management console will look for templates at a central SYSVOL location (a so called central store). Likely you have a PolicyDefinitions folder in
\\domain.com\sysvol\domain.com\Policies and then you need to add the MBAM ADMX and ADML files to that location to be able to see those settings when managing group policies. The reason for this is
that the central store has precedence over local group policy templates.

  • Query String in URL policy?

    Hi all,
Is it possible in a policy agent to do these:
1- Filter requests with respect to the query string?
    i.e. = http://www.example.com/go?*allowed=yes*
(Bear in mind, there might be other fields in the query string)
2- Is it possible to use query strings in NOTENFORCED uri list?
i.e. = Access to http://www.example.com/go is not enforced
    Access to http://www.example.com/go?*allowed=yes* is restricted
(Bear in mind, there might be other fields in the query string)
3- Is it possible to do these on IIS?
4- Is it possible to do the same with POST method rather than GET?

I just solved it and here is the new policy defn that worked.

  • Exception in a compliance policy

    Hello all,
As part of my operational compliance policy definition, I want to create a policy and deploy it to a set of servers. for ex:
I want to create a policy for a collection of windows servers to disable SMTP service on all of them but create an exception within the policy to identify the 'SMTP server' itself so the mail server can send emails while others shouldn't (perhaps a poor
example to explain my scenario but I hope you understood where I want to go)
But while creating my compliance policy in sccm 2012, I did not find an option to create any kind of exception. I did some research and all I came across was firewall exceptions or something similar but even then, it was not done within the 'compliance settings'
but rather in a GPO policy or other places.
    Any help here? thanks

It's not "straight forward", it's by in general design of how ConfigMgr works:
You do things that you want to deploy (applications, baselines..)
You deploy your things to the targets (collections)
There's always the thing you want to do and the target where you want your thing to be done.

  • Corrupted Picture Files - has anyone found a fix?

I have this problem and it's pretty severe. I also don't know what else has been corrupted on the phone (video, music, other docs?) Verizon -
    That is a lousy solution!
I've been dealing with this same issue since the last software update!  I have this problem nearly EVERYDAY.  The only solution is to reboot my phone.  I've lost capturing many beautiful moments because of this issue.  I can never rely on my phone camera.  I always have to do a "test" photo before I'm planning to take some pictures just to make sure it will work, though that is not always reliable.
I highly doubt this issue is unique to each of our phones.  It IS a result of the last software update and many customers have experienced the same issues just after the update.
I'm very disappointed Verizon hasn't looked into this further.  It makes me question the customer service and whether I should renew my plan at the end of the year.  I know I'm definitely moving to an iphone as my friends who have one speak very highly of them.  I know VERY FEW people who have a Droid and are happy with it....must be a reason.
I'm planning to contact Verizon shortly to look into replacing my Droid for the 5th TIME!
