Populate Result of query in Different worksheets of One Workbook in Excel.

I want to get output of different queries to be populated in Different Sheets of a workbook of Excel in Unix/Linux Environment.

Here is an example perl script using the Spreadsheet::WriteExcel CPAN module that might help:
===#!/usr/bin/perl
use strict;
use DBI;
use Spreadsheet::WriteExcel;
my ($toc,$data_sheet,$f,%data,$workbook) = ();
my ($workbook_filename) = "mytest.xls";
$workbook = Spreadsheet::WriteExcel->new($workbook_filename);
sub build_excel_workbook {
  $workbook->compatibility_mode();
  $f = \%{$data{excel_format}};
  $$f{bold} = $workbook->add_format();
  $$f{bold}->set_bold();
  $$f{right_align} = $workbook->add_format();
  $$f{right_align}->set_align("right");
  $toc = \%{$data{excel_table_of_contents}};
  $$toc{tab} = $workbook->add_worksheet("Table of Contents");
  $$toc{tab}->freeze_panes(1,0);
  $$toc{tab}->set_column(0,1,20);
  $$toc{tab}->write(0,0,"WorkSheet Name",$$f{bold});
  $$toc{tab}->write(0,1,"Comments",$$f{bold});
  $data_sheet = \%{$data{excel_data_sheet}};
  $$data_sheet{tab} = $workbook->add_worksheet("EMP table");
  $$data_sheet{current_row} = 0;
  $$toc{tab}->write(1,0,"EMP table");
  $$toc{tab}->write(1,1,"Example WorkSheet containing EMP sample data");
build_excel_workbook();
my $db = DBI->connect( "dbi:Oracle:Local", "scott", "tiger" )
    || die( $DBI::errstr . "\n" );
$db->{AutoCommit}    = 0;
$db->{RaiseError}    = 1;
$db->{ora_check_sql} = 0;
$db->{RowCacheSize}  = 16;
my $SEL = "SELECT * FROM EMP";
my $sth = $db->prepare($SEL);
$sth->execute();
while ( my @row = $sth->fetchrow_array() ) {
    for (my $i = 0; $i <= $#row; $i++) {
        $$data_sheet{tab}->write($$data_sheet{current_row},$i,$row[$i]);
    $$data_sheet{current_row}++;
END { $db->disconnect if defined($db); }
#end_script===

  • CODE - Adding Worksheets to a Workbook in EXCEL .. please help!!

    Hi
    Does anyone have any code that lets you add multiple worksheets to a workbook in Excel???
    I have tried everything!
    Help please
    Thanks

    Since you have tried everything I suppose there is no point in referring you to the Apache POI project:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/
    You've already tried it, right?

  • Different variable values for same query inserted 6 times in One workbook.

    Hi,
    We have one workbook with the same query inserted on 6 different tabs (sheets in excel), a variable on Business Unit that is different for each tab.
    How can we control the variable input in BW2004s such that the different BU values are processed for each tab.
    At present the BU value input in the "variable pop-up screen" over rides all the fixed variables on the different tabs.
    Generous points will be awarded for useful solution.
    Thanks,
    Jasmine

    Hi,
    I am  trying to use filters for executing 2 queries in a Web App. I have 2 dataproviders (one for each query), and I am trying to use filters for say Version.
    The URL is
    /sap/bw/BEx?cmd=ldoc&TEMPLATE_ID=ZTW_XXX&DATA_PROVIDER_1= DP1&FILTER_IOBJNM_1=0VERSION&FILTER_VALUE_1=F01&DATA_PROVIDER_2= DP2&FILTER_IOBJNM_2=0VERSION&FILTER_VALUE_2=F02.
    This doesnot work. Both queries get filtered on both 'F01' and 'F02'.
    I am trying to filter DP1 by F01 and DP2 by F02.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • I am wanting to exactly match two ID numbers from two differing worksheets within one work book. Once matched I am wanting to retrieve a row value from the second worksheet into the first. Any help much appreciated.

    I am wanting to exactly match two ID numbers from two worksheets within the one work book. ID numbers are non linear. Once exactly matched I wish to retrieve a corresponding row value from worksheet two and have it appear in worksheet one against the correct ID number. I have been looking at IF, VLOOKUP, and MATCH functions and suspect that what I want to do requires a combination of two or more. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    regards Vaughanh

    Vaughan,
    Data A:D is all cells start at column A thru column D.
    There is built-in help using the menu item "View > Show Function Browser"  in the search field (top right) you can enter vlookup and you will see the detailed description.
    From this we see:
    VLOOKUP
    (search-for, columns-range, return-column, close-match)
    search-for:  The value to find. search-value can contain any value type.
    columns-range:  A range of cells. range is a reference to a single range of cells, which may contain values of any type.
    return-column:  A number that specifies the relative column number of the cell from which to return the value. return-column is a number value. The leftmost column in the range is column 1.
    close-match:  An optional value that determines whether an exact match is required.
    close match (TRUE, 1, or omitted):  If there’s no exact match, select the column with the largest top-row value that is less than the search value. Wildcards can’t be used in search-for.
    exact match (FALSE or 0):  If there’s no exact match, return an error. Wildcards can be used in search-for.
    So... the 2,0 means return the value form the same row as the lookup value but from the 2nd column of the range.  3, 0 means from the 3rd column.  the ", 0" means exact match

  • ABAP Internal Tables to Multiple Excel Worksheets in One Workbook

    I have an ABAP List report that shows data from two dozen internal tables.  Each internal table has different fields, formats, column headers, etc.
    I need to allow the user to export this data into one Excel file.  The file should contain multiple worksheets (each on a separate tab), but it should only be one XLS file.  Each worksheet is formatted differently.
    I just coded it with the OLE Automation commands.  It runs too SLOW.... way way too slow.  Is there another technique to use that runs faster?  Examples?
    Thanks in advance!

    I should add...
    the slow part of this process is setting the value of each cell.
      SET PROPERTY OF gh_cell 'Value' = p_lv_value
    I am looking into function modules XXL_SIMPLE_API and XXL_FULL_API.  They appear to work faster, but they only create a single worksheet.
    Maybe it would be fastest to use the XXL modules to create multiple spreadsheet files and then use the OLE commands to merge them into a single workbook file?

  • Question on saving to different worksheets on excel.

    How can I save data as I loop through a program, and save the data generated in different worksheets on one excel file, without using activex?

    You have two other choices that do not use ActiveX.
    1. If you write continuous data that exceeds the maximum number of rows in Excel, you can still read the data using an Excel macro. Using the ReadLine method, you can parse the data into cells and skip to the next worksheet when the row limit is reached or using any token that you want (ie. blank line).
    2. If you have Excel 2000 or later, writing your data as an XML file will allow you to format the data into worksheets. This will increase the file size dramatically. To do this you have to write the required header and then maintain the proper heirarchy of Workbook, Worksheet, Table, Row, Cell and Data. Save a simple data file as XML to see the file format.

  • Same query giving different results

    Hi
    I m surprised to see the behaviour of oracle. I have two different sessions for same scheema on same server. In both sessions same query returns different results. The query involves some calculations like sum and divisions on number field.
    I have imported this data from another server using export / import utility available with 9i server. Before export every thing was going fine. Is there some problem with this utility.
    I m using Developer 6i as the front end for my client server application. The behaviour of my application is very surprizing as once it shows the correct data and if I close the screen and reopen, it shows wrong data.
    I m really stucked with the abnormal behaviour. Please tell me the possiblities and corrective action for these conditions.
    Regards

  • Same Query returning different result (Different execution plan)

    Hi all,
    To day i have discovered a strange thing: a query that return a different result when using a different execution plan.
    The query :
    SELECT  *
      FROM schema.table@database a
    WHERE     column1 IN ('3')
           AND column2 = '101'
           AND EXISTS
                  (SELECT null
                     FROM schema.table2 c
                    WHERE a.column3 = SUBSTR (c.column1, 2, 12));where schema.table@database is a remote table.
    when executed with the hint /*+ ordered use_nl(a c) */ these query return no result and its execution plan is :
    Rows     Row Source Operation
          0  NESTED LOOPS  (cr=31 r=0 w=0 time=4894659 us)
       4323   SORT UNIQUE (cr=31 r=0 w=0 time=50835 us)
       4336    TABLE ACCESS FULL TABLE2 (cr=31 r=0 w=0 time=7607 us)
          0   REMOTE  (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=130536 us)When i changed the execution plan with the hint /*+ use_hash(c a) */
    Rows     Row Source Operation
       3702  HASH JOIN SEMI (cr=35 r=0 w=0 time=497839 us)
      22556   REMOTE  (cr=0 r=0 w=0 time=401176 us)
       4336   TABLE ACCESS FULL TABLE2 (cr=35 r=0 w=0 time=7709 us)It seem that when the execution plan have changed the remote query return no result.
    It'is a bug or i have missed somthing ?
    PS: The two table are no subject to insert or update statement.

    Thanks.

    Oracle version : 9.2.0.2.0
    System version : HP-UX v1Hard to say. You're using a very old and deprecated version of the database, and one that was known to contain bugs.
    9.2.0.7 was really the lowest version of 9i that was considered to be 'stable', but even so, it's old and lacking in many ways.
    Consider upgrading to the latest database version at your earliest opportunity. (or at least apply patches up to the latest 9i version before querying if there is bugs in your really low buggy version)

  • SQL Query results to CSV as two worksheets

    I'm trying to take two SQL queries and get the results sent to a CSV file on two worksheets.  Looking online I have not found a solid example of using the Excel ComObject to create a CSV then add a new worksheet to the CSV file.  An added bonus
    would be using AutoFit on the columns so everything is easily visible.
    Code found online got me the following script which does work, however it takes 12 minutes to pipe the SQL queries to Excel.  Switching to a CSV and the script executes in 5 seconds.
    This is another nice to have, I was also looking the best way to look at the results (only 1 column) and depending on the length of the data, insert what Excel would call a Cell thereby shifting cells RIGHT but so far have found no clear examples of how
    to accomplish that.  My guess would be modifying my SQL queries but I've posted a question on StackOverFlow and someone suggested modifying the PowerShell Table created from the SQL dataset.Tables

    Here's what I ended up with that accomplishes my goal.  I learned it's not possible to create a CSV with two worksheets since Excel will allow this but the CSV cannot be saved with the second worksheet.  Instead, I create two CSV files then merge
    them into one Excel workbook, one CSV per worksheet.  In my case, this happens in 5 seconds.  There is one thing which must be mentioned, I've seen this script fail the first time it is run but will successfully run the second time.
    Also note, after much trial and error, this code correctly cleans up the Excel ComObject!!  -Thanks go to JRV.

  • How to divide resultset of a query in different ref cursors in a package

    Hi Oracle Gurus,
    I need to create a package which counts the no of rows returned by a select query on multiple tables and according to the returned rowcount inputs the resultset in a ref cursor. Procedure will be called by a .NET program and output param refcursor will be assigned to a data reader which will redirect all the data to an Excel file.
    All the above is done. Issue is due to Excel's limit of 64000 rows, if data returned by query is greater than 64K it wont be fit in 1 Excel sheet. So, in order to overcome this limit I need to do some looping in Oracle package which keeps on storing the query results (rows<64K) in different ref cursors so that these refcursors as OUT params can be redirected to separate Excel sheets in C# program.
    NOTE : Earlier on I created 2 procedures in the package to fetch rows<64K and another one to fetch rows between 64K and rowcount of the query. My program was calling 2 different procedures to redirect data into 2 diff Excel sheets.
    But this fails when query resultset is even greater than 128000 or more and demands 3-4 or even more Excel sheets to be created.
    Please help.
    Any idea how to do looping in Oracle to accomplish this?

    Huh?
    That is saying that "I need to change this road and build it straight through that lake as the road has a curve here".
    It surely is a LOT easier to leave the road as is and simply turn the darn steering wheel in the car?
    Have the .Net data reader keep a row count of rows read from the ref cursor - and when it reached a pre-set max, have the reader do a "control break"[1] and change to a new worksheet as the destination for writing the rows to.
    [1] Google the term if you do not understand this basic concept that was among the very basic program control structures taught back in the 80's.. while I foam at the mouth how today's "wonder kids" turned programmers, that grew up with computers, do not even comprehend the most basic programming logic designs...

  • Query with different parameter take different time to execute.

    Hi,
    I am a C/C++ programmer and newbie to database. I find weird case to my company database. oracle 10g.
    I have a query (below). When I set GENRE_ID value to 20, query execution time only take *5* seconds. But when I change to 10, it take *54* seconds! The same query but different values GENRE_ID (20 or 10) -- it also happen to other GENRE_ID values.
    on below query

    I am a C/C++ programmer and newbie to database. I find weird case to my company database. oracle 10g.
    I have a query (below). When I set GENRE_ID value to 20, query execution time only take *5* seconds. But when I change to 10, it take *54* seconds! The same query but different values GENRE_ID (20 or 10) -- it also happen to other GENRE_ID values.This is to be expected. Even an IDENTICAL query can (and often will) have DIFFERENT execution times.
    The typical reason is how fast the query process can get to the data block(s) containing the relevant row(s). Is that data block still on disk and require expensive and slow physical I/O to move it into the buffer cache for use? Is that data block already cached for much faster logical I/O access? If in memory, is there any contention in getting a latch for the chain the data block hangs off from (how hot is that block)? Etc.
    The run-time environment is not static. Thus execution times of queries (called cursors in Oracle) is not static. Execution times are expected to vary.
    Some basics. SQL code is source code. SQL code needs to be parsed and converted into a set of instructions that the server can execute. So it is similar to C/C++. SQL source code needs to be compiled. This executable code in Oracle is called a cursor.
    Like your code, the cursor can be executed with different input variables (bind variables). However, that code would have been compiled using certain assumptions about the data. And that executable code may work fine for some input data, and work not so okay for other input data. As the input parameter values are not not equal. E.g. there are a 1000 rows to process when employee type parameter is "employee" and only 10 rows when it is "manager". The code could have been compiled with the assumption that 10 rows would be the average for all input parameters - the Cost Based Optimiser needs to base its decision on the best execution path for that SQL source code on certain assumptions about the data. These may not always be correct. (usually due incorrect or stale stats about the data)
    Thus you also need to look at what the execution plan is (the URL for which has already been supplied).

  • Query Performance and Result Set Query/Sub-Query

    Hi,
    I have an infoset with as many as <b>15 joins</b> with different ODS and Master Data..<b>The ODS are quite huge with 20 million, 160 million records)...</b>Its taking a lot of time even for a few days and need to get atleast 3 months data in a reasonable amount of time....
    Could anyone please tell me whether <b>Sub-Query or Result Set Query have to be written against the same InfoProvider</b> (Cube, Infoset, etc)...or they can be used in queries
    on different infoprovider...
    Please suggest...Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Bhanu,
    Needed some help defining the Precalculated Value Set as I wasnt succesful....
    Please suggest answers if possible for the questions below
    1) Can I use Filter Criteria for restricting the value set for the characteristic when I Define a Query on an ODS. When i tried this it gave me errors as below  ..
    "System error in program CL_RSR_REQUEST and form  EXECUTE_VTABLE:COB_PRO_GET_ALWAYS....                     Error when filling value set DELIVERY..
    Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE"
    2) Can I create a create a Value Set predefined on an Infoset -  Not Succesful as Infoset have names such as "InfosetName_F000232" and cannot find the characteristic in Paramter Tab for Value Set in Reprting Agent.
    3) How does the precalculated value Set variable help if I am not using any Filtering Criteria and is storing the List of all values for the Variable from the ODS which consists of 20 millio records.
    Thanks for your help.
    Kind Regards

  • Use plan from stored_outlines from query with different syntax?

    Hello,
    I'd like to know is there any ability to use via stored_outlines plan from query with different syntax?
    Database version - 11.1.06
    If yes, maybe you'll take a look at steps (based on Metalink 726802.1), what I tried to do to make it work (with no success):
    alter session set create_stored_outlines=good;
    run good query
    create private outline good from SYS_OUTLINE_0... -< GOOD
    alter session set create_stored_outlines=bad;
    run bad query
    create private outline good from SYS_OUTLINE_0... -< BAD
    update ol$ set sql_text, textlen, signature, hash_value, hash_value2 from BAD to GOOD records
    leave ol$hintcount for GOOD untouched
    delete ol$ where ol_name='BAD';
    delete ol$hints where ol_name='BAD';
    delete ol$nodes where ol_name='BAD';
    execute dbms_outln_edit.refresh_private_outline('GOOD');
    alter session set sql_trace=true;
    alter session set use_private_outlines=true;
    run bad query
    examine trace file and find that it use execution plan different from both bad and good queries
    PS: Originally bad query is posted already Re: Poor performance while join of 2 comprehensive large views and small table
    PPS: Also I review thread CBO not picking correct indexes or doing Full Scans

    A query with different syntax would result in a different hash value.
    Stored outlines work based on hash value.
    Your question is probably answered now.

  • Simple spatial query with different SRID

    Can anyone help me with just a real simple spatial query with different SRID.
    Here is the error i get when i perform the query:
    AND SDO_RELATE(A.geometrie_point, B.GEOMETRIE_POLYGONE, 'mask=anyinteract querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
    ERROR at line 4:
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-13207: incorrect use of the [IN COMPATIBLE BOUNDS in SDO_RELATE] operator
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD", line 84
    ORA-06512: at line 4

    Hi,
    I am using 8.1.7.2 and i have the lattest spatial patch.
    From the start i had different SRID. The only thing i changed was the bounds of the coordinate system.
    I reset my bounds of the coordinate system with SRID 8307 to -180,
    180 in X (longitude), and -90,90 in Y (latitude) to see if the query window geometry
    (geom2) will be transformed to the coordinate system of the layer geometries (geom1)
    Her is the content of the user_sdo_geom_metadata :
    GIS_PCP GEOMETRIE_POINT
    SDO_DIM_ARRAY(SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', -5800000, 3600000, .00000005), SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', 3516000, 6000000, .00000005))
    82227
    GIS_TEST GEOMETRIE_POLYGONE
    SDO_DIM_ARRAY(SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('X', -180, 180, .00000005), SDO_DIM_ELEMENT('Y', -90, 90, .00000005))
    8307
    Here is my query :
    select /*+ ordered */ A.no_point
    from gis_pcp A, gis_test B
    WHERE SDO_RELATE(A.geometrie_POINT, B.GEOMETRIE_POLYGONE, 'mask=anyinteract querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE';
    Here is my result :
    WHERE SDO_RELATE(A.geometrie_POINT, B.GEOMETRIE_POLYGONE, 'mask=anyinteract querytype=WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
    ERROR at line 3:
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-13207: incorrect use of the [IN COMPATIBLE BOUNDS in SDO_RELATE] operator
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD", line 84
    ORA-06512: at line 4
    If i change the bounds of GIS_TEST to the exact bouns of GIS_PCP then i dont have the error message above and i have correct results. Do i have the adjust the bounds of every layer to fit the biggest bound?
