Populate TargetAddress from Mail attribute

Hi,
I have a management agent pulling AD information from a domain without Exchange, and I want to populate Target Address using the Mail attribute by putting SMTP:[email protected] infront of it.
I've found this article, but having not done any dev work before I'm a bit lost.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/microsoft.metadirectoryservices.imasynchronization.mapattributesforimport(v=vs.100).aspx?cs-save-lang=1&cs-lang=vb#code-snippet-2
Something like cd.user:("SMTP:"mail)->mv.person:targetAddress
Can anyone point me the in right direction to write a custom expression to do this?
Thanks,
James

Hello,
ok thought you use portal as you ask for a "custom expression".
So so generating the MA rules extension project and create the advanced flow in mA see the following links:
http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis/advanced-attribute-flow-rules
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720667%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
The flowrulename you set in the MA on the advanced attribute flow will be used in the code to point to the correct code part, I like to use friendly names here like: export_targetAddress.
you code in the MapAttributesForExport Method goes like this then:
Case "export_targetAddress"
If mventry("mail").IsPresent Then
csentry("targetAddress").Value = "SMTP:" & mventry("mail").Value
Else
csentry("targetAddress").Delete()
End If

  • Can autoreply use Mail attribute for From header in autoreply?

    Hi:
We've recently moved from 5.x to 6.2, and users are complaining that autoreply/vacation messages are coming with the user's mailEquivalentAddress in the From: header rather than the email address that is in the Mail attribute. In our case, Mail is set to [email protected]
    Here's our version info:
    jeffw@ash:/ims/log# imsimta version
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2-3.04 (built Jul 15 2005)
    libimta.so 6.2-3.04 (built 01:43:03, Jul 15 2005)
    SunOS ash.usg.tufts.edu 5.9 Generic_118558-08 sun4u sparc SUNW,Netra-T12

Well, "noreverse" will prevent "from" address from being rewritten.
However, from your description of the problem, it's likely to have no effect at all.
A normal rewrite is when a "mailAlternateAddress" gets rewritten. You said you use "mailEquivalentAddress". That should never be rewritten. If you're indeed using "mailAlternateAddress", then it might work. Try it.... If you're really using, "mailEquivalentAddress", then Sanjay is barking up the wrong tree......

  • How to get filename from mail attachment

    Hi all,
I have a XI scenario Mail->XI->RFC. I have created my own adapter module which handle all attachments from incoming mail.
Everything work fine, but in my module I try to get information about filename of mail attachment. I use getContentType() metod to get the filename but this method return only the mimetype of the document. The getDescription() method return olny string "mail attachment". I need to get the original filename of the attachment or at least the file extension.
Is it possible to get the whole filename from mail attachment?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi,
You can tryout with adapter modules . You can make use of following Adapter attributes also -

  • Notifications from Mail not working in iCal

Notifications from Mail are not working. I have set the proper setting in both iCal and Mail with no luck. .ICS files show up in Mail when I search but they don't populate of show in the Notifications window in iCal.

The same problem here. It used to work for a while. But after the last update it stopped working.
if I get an e-mail reply to an event, it does not update the attendee list.
i figured out though, that if you drag the .ics file onto iCal window (events part), the attendee status is updated and event is marked as done, but there is still a question mark in the upper part of the event.
    obviously a bug.

  • Incorrect Sender value when 'mail' attribute is multivalued

    hi,
i've just upgraded Sun messaging server 2005Q4 from IMS 5.2 and noted some behavioural difference in the reverse_url operations.
I've noted that reverse_url operations on the 'mail' attribute for ims5.2 seems to ignore subsequent values of this attribute if it's multivalued.
Sun Messaging 2005Q4, however, seems to have taken into account the multiple values of the 'mail' attribute.
This is resulting the mail's "From:" field to be using the subsequent values.
    Setup
Account: mailtes1 (with multivalued 'mail' attribute)
    mail: [email protected]
[email protected] (Not a configured mail domain handled by Sun messaging. Used by other applications)
mailhost: mailsit.portnet.com.sg (for Sun messaging 2005q4)
    pnsasit1app1.portnet.com (for ims52)
test mails are sent to the same accounts.
Results of ./imsimta test -rewrite -debug mailtes1 on Sun Messaging 2005q4 as follows:

    Questions:
    1) How do i retain the functionality of using 1st value of the mail attribute as the address to be used?
I need the address reversing to retain '@portnet.com.sg' value.
    2) I've not encountered the same problem when using ims52.
Is there a functional diffences here?

    Hi Shane,
    Thank you for the reply.
We tried adding a mailequivalentaddress attribute, eg [email protected] but the From field still have the value from the mail attribute, eg [email protected]. Do we still need to configure anything to make this to work?
Besides we tried another option by doing the following:
    a. Changing the following lines in options.dat file:
    REVERSE_URL=ldap:///$V?mail?sub?$Q
    to
    REVERSE_URL=ldap:///$V$N?sub?$R
    b. We ensure that '@portnet.com.sg' is the 1st value
    c. adding a 'noreverse' keyword for the 'ims-ms' channel
And it works without the need for the mailequivalentaddress, is this a proper implementation?
any implications with putting 'noreverse' for ims-ms channel?
We're now considering changing of primary address attribute used.
Need your advise on the following:
    1) Please advise how go about configuring another attribute to store the primary address.
    2) Can we use mailAlternateAddress as the new primary address attribute?
If a totally new attribute is needed, please advise on the requirements for the creation of this attribute to be usable by Sun Messaging 2005Q4.
This change was mentioned in the administration guide.
Chapter 9 The Direct LDAP Algorithm and Implementation
    Seeding the Reversal Cache
Next the primary address and any aliases attached to the user entry are considered. This information is used to seed the address reversal cache. It plays no part in the current address translation process. First, the primary address, personal name, recipient limit, recipient cutoff, and source block limit attributes are considered. The primary address is normally stored in the mail attribute; another attribute can be specified by setting the LDAP_PRIMARY_ADDRESS MTA option appropriately. (The primary address reverses to itself, of course.) There is no default attribute for any of the other attributes. If you want to use them, you must specify them with the LDAP_PERSONAL_NAME, (see Vacation Autoreply Attributes) LDAP_RECIPIENTLIMIT, LDAP_RECIPIENTCUTOFF, (see Limiting Message Recipients) and LDAP_SOURCEBLOCKLIMIT (see Specifying Absolute Message Size Limits) MTA options. The corresponding domain-level recipient limit, recipient cutoff, and source block limit attributes are also considered at this point. User-level settings completely override any domain-level setting.
Next, any secondary addresses are considered and a cache entry is made for each one. There are two sorts of secondary addresses: Those that undergo address reversal and those that do not. Both must be considered in order to properly seed the address reversal cache because of the need to check for message capture requests in all cases.
Secondary addresses that undergo reversal are normally stored in the mailAlternateAddress attribute. Another attribute can be specified by setting the LDAP_ALIAS_ADDRESSES MTA option. Secondary addresses that do not undergo reversal are normally stored in the mailEquivalentAddress attribute. Another attribute can be specified with the LDAP_EQUIVALENCE_ADDRESSES MTA option.

  • Exclude business partners from mailing list

When business partners do not want to receive emails, mails or other marketing information how do we make sure CRM understands this and they are excluded from mailing lists?

    Hi King,
To achieve this, you can use the marketing attribute for the BP. You can create a custom attribute as 'DONOTCONTACT' and then assign the same to an attribute profile. Then, you can set this marketing attribute of the business partner and track whether we want to send the mail or email to him.
    Refer the following transactions :
    CRMD_PROF_CHAR
    CRMD_PROF_TEMPL
    CRMD_PROF_BP

  • Mac Mail attributes grayed out - unavailable

I've been trying to alter the display for mail in my new Macbook Air to display whether or not it has attachments and find that mail attributes for all my mail folders are grayed out, except for date and folder.  How can I get those attributes back? Why are they grayed out in the new version of Mac Mail?

    Try this work around.
Open Mail,   not  in Full screen mode.  You need  to be in classic lay-out.
< Command - , > to open preferences if you need to switch
Then from here <control-click> anywhere in the column area to make additions to the column
revert back to the new 3 column view.  If you loose one of the columns grab one of the vertical sides and drag it to resize.

After a crash I found myself trying to "Reopen All Windows From Last Session", then I found that if I click a link from Mail it does not open it ... as well from any other application. Same thing just happened to me. Reinstalling Saferi did not help.

  • Why can't I open word docs from mail anymore?

Am on 10.8.2 on Macbook Air and doc and docx attachments tell me to choose application to open the doc with and won't open when I choose "Word"
These used to be opened automatically by Word, not I have to manually choose Pages as the only option
    Am I missing something?

Don't see how I can choose the file from within Word as it's not saved anywhere?
I have now discovered if I drag the file from mail on to the WORD icon in the doc it will open....seems much clumsier than the old option of clicking on the file to open it
Opening attached pics seems to require the same action as well using iphoto.
A bit of a step back in my opinion....
Save the word file from the email to your Mac (have you never saved an attachment before)?
Post back when you can do as I asked you to.
And remember that we are trying to find out what is wrong, don't be so snappy!
haha...point taken. Wasn't feeling 'snappy' when I typed it, not intended as such...!
If I save it somewhere as you suggested I can then open it
also, as I mentioned if I drag the doc onto WORD in the dock it opens that way as well

  • Mail hyperlinks open in safari, but screen is not automatically moving from mail to safari, only manually

    Hello,
i'm facing already for some time an issue that i can get solved unfortunately.

Not if i'm working on the desktop, nor working in full screen mode. I need to move manually to the other screen, to see the webpage opening.
In the past it was working, but I can't find the settings to get this solved. Today I've update to Yosemite, and it didn't solve this for me.

  • How can cocoa app get attachment in Drag & Drop email(s) from Mail?

    HI all,
I would like to drag and drop one or more emails from Apple's Mail application to a cocoa application and have the cocoa application find the path to the attachments in those emails. If I drag & drop a message from Mail to Text Edit, it creates a link with the message subject. If I hold the pointer over the link in Text Edit, it shows the contents of the link, which has the form:
    message:%[email protected]%3E
If I click that link, it opens a new Mail window with the message. None of that is the message number as shown in Mail's viewer window.
I've also looked at what Pasteboard Peeker shows given a Drag & Drop from Mail. The above link data is from the public.url pasteboard type. Some of the others look interesting, but Pasteboard Peeker truncates the data read from the pasteboard, and the pasteboard types are probably nothing that we "supposed" to have access to since they have names like "Someone's super-secret pasteboard type". Any other ideas?

    Thanks, a brody.
That tip takes me further down the field. And, I am able to do stuff like indent and change font color of my comments which is very helpful.
However, the big disappointment is that by dragging the original message to the Draft mailbox and then back to the original one after the edits is that it removes the original sender's name and puts mine in along with changing the heading info on date and time. That is, it creates a new message, rather than allowing me to modify the original one to suit my needs.
All the same, this was a very helpful tip. Thanks again.
Anyone know of a plugin?..............or two?....

Since downloading iOS on my new iPad, I cannot downlaod more than one pdf from mail into iBooks.  I have to shut down my iPad and restart it to save a second pdf. Wasn't a problem with the old operating system.  Any suggestions?

It seems that I have solved my issue by performing a full factory reset (erasing all content, something which I had hoped to avoid) restoring from an iCloud backup did not alleviate the issue, I had to set up as a new iPad.
Hopefully anyone else else who has this issue in the future will be able to find this.
