Populating Web List from database Based on Selected Field

Hi,
I'm really new to this so pardon my ignorance on the following.
At my company, we have developed a web site using Oracle
Application Server using PL*SQL cartridge, i.e. all the
rendering of forms and processing of data are done using PL*Sql
commands.
I have a list field where I'd like the values populated from the
database using a value specified by a user in another field.
Example:
State ____ City ____________________
When user selects a state, I'd like to be able to dynamically
populate the city field with values from the database.
Does anyone have an example of how to do this? I'm guessing it
can be done using thin JDBC.
Any help would be appreciated.

for the first time when the page loads i want the trailing list to be empty ....
so in the processRequest itself i call invokeMethod and append the whereclause in the voImpl .....if a do a System.out.println("Trailing List VO ::ROW COUNT IS : "+getRowCount()); immediately after executeQuery it returns 0 ...
but some how on the page i get to see some records in the list....
Let me know if anyother info is required ...

Hi Experts,
In my mobile application, I have designed one input field with F4 help or input assist. I need to fetch records from database based on that input and need to display records in table.
My question is:
How to fetch the records from database/back end based on the input value and display them as table format as we are doing in SAP ABAP?
Here, I need to fetch the records based on input value available in the UI screen and pass that value to gateway, fetch the records from database and need to bind with table in SAPUI5.
Kindly share the whole process flow with sample code for this requirement. Hope I have explained the requirement in detail.

Try something like this.
In this, I am passing From date, To date, RelGrp, RelStr, Uname as input. Then I am storing those values in variables and passing this data in Odata request.

Unfortunately there is no way to move this data into FormsCentral.
As far as your question about using PDFs with FormsCentral, 'soon' is actually 'now'! You have two options:
1) Author a new form with FormsCentral. From the distribute tab, save a submission-enabled PDF form. You can send this form out to your recipients and their responses will be collected on FormsCentral.
2) Import an exsiting PDF form into FormsCentral from the dashboard, and then submission-enable it. Distribute the submission-enabled version and responses will be collected on FormsCentral.

Polulate textfield(s) from a MS SQL Database based on selection from DropDown List

I am new to LiveCycle Designer. I am trying to create a Master Bill of Lading form. I want the user to be able to enter a Store Number from a in a text field and, based on what they enter I want to populate the address information from a database on my SQL Server.
When I bind the address fields from the database, I only see the first record in the database.
I'm not sure where to go from here...

That seemed to fix my error and returned the value to my DDL.
I have modified the code so it looks at the clone of my dataConnection (dcStoreData)

it runs with no error and I am seeing the value it has given my DDL.rawValue
Now I get the "error:"
GeneralError: Operation failed.

ado2xfa operation failed. Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal.
My Store Number is stored as an int in the database.
Do I have to somehow cast it as a character?

Populate List from Database (Very Strange Behaviour)

Dear Fellows,
I have developed a from which has two lists One for Major (say) and Other for Minor (say), thesr minors are based on the value of Major.
Now I have developed this system on Windows XP Professional, Developer/2000 6i and Oracle 8i (release 8.1.7).
Major list is populated from database and it shows all major values now using 'when_list_change' trigger the minor list is populated from the database based on the value of major list. Interestingly enough it is working fine without any problem.
Now I have deployed the software to Windows 2000 Professional/Server (tried on both), Developer/2000 6i and Oracle 8.0.5, but strangly the lists are not working now. First list (major) is still working but the other dependent lists are not working.
Another strange thing is that it populate the second list for one particular value (only at times).
The logic is that I have used a program unit to which i am passing 'list element' and 'query' and call it for each list in the when-list-change trigge.
Now its a very strange behaviour, I don't know what to do?

Populating JSF ListBox from DataBase

Hi,
im new to JSF and i have a problem populating Listboxes with database values.
i have 3 listboxes and the 3 are populated from tables in my database.
I would like to filter the returned(from database) values in the 2nd listbox depending on the value selected in the 1st listox.
I dont know how to do this.
BTW i'm usis Ibatis Abator to map the database.

Here is what I think you are wanting to do:
1. Have the list box show values from a database table.
2. Have the user make selections. Should the user return to that page later in the session, have the previous selection still selected.
Normally, you would bind the listbox to the database table, as is shown in http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/databoundcomponents.html. The only reason I can think of for not binding directly to the database table is if there is a possiblity that the database table can change (additions, updates, deletes) during the user's session.
Are you able to emulate the above tutorial using the Postgress database? It might be good to pinpoint whether the problem is with the Postgress driver or with the code you are writing.
By the way, if you use a data provider to access the database, as shown in the tutorial, here is how you iterate through the data

Problem with dynamically loading the dropdown list from database

Please help me,
i am having a jsp page which contains a form
with a textfield ,two dropdown list
and a submit button
when i select a list from first drop down, second drop down has to
be loaded from the database dynamically according to the
selected one in the first drop down.
i gave onselect event for the first drop down and
gave this one
temp=first dropdown selected value
self.location='currentfile+query='+temp;
after this current page is reloading, but the already existing
values in textfield and first selected value in drop down list is
missing.
how to solve this problem? and the rest of the problem. i mean
loading the data into second drop down list.

in first <selcet> tag write Onchange and submit to the jsp then the values will return in second select box.

"To set the dialog box options:
Select Manually or From Database, depending on how you plan
to populate the list."
Where is that UI found? A place to select Manually or From
Database seems bruried.

Web Service Assembler can assemble Web services from PL/SQL packages.
Can it be used to assemble Web services directly from functions or procedures?

No, it relies on a package and takes each of the publishable functions and procedures as the web serivce methods.
Have you also tried using JDeveloper? It uses WSA under the covers but gives you a great GUI for selecting and working with your code

hi nickelb,
i had returned Object.class in the getColumnClass() method. But then i
got NullPointerException at getRowCount() method. i could understand that the
main problem is in data[][] object. In all the methods its returning null values as it is so declared outside the construtor. But if i declare the object inside the constructor, then the methods could not recognize the object. it seems i cant do the either ways. hope u understood the problem.

Call bpel process as Web service from database

i'm trying tocall bpel process as web service from Oracle database. When i try the same pl sql function, i can successfully call regular j2ee web service without any problem. When i instantiate process from bpel console - everything is ok .. but when i call process from plsql function, i get this error:
ORA-20000: soapenv:Server.generalException - Missing BPEL archive file.
The process domain cannot locate the BPEL archive for process
"AuthorizeKeyCode", revision "AuthorizeKeyCode".
If you have deployed the process please check that it is located in the
directory "/ora/bpelpm/integration/orabpel/domains/vinves/deploy".

Read from database (Access) and update fields using MS ADODB

I am trying to get records from database using MS ADODB._connection & ADODB._Recordset objects (from LabVIEW 6)
I can:
1. open connection (with ADODB._connection)
2. write into tables (with ADODB._command)
I can not: gets records and update fields using ADODB._connection & ADODB._Recordset.
I do not know:
1. how to connect between the connection that was opened and the recordset object
2. where I can write the SQL text as input to the recordset

APEX4: Populating fields from database based on the SelectList value

Hi,
I've a Select List and 4 Text Fields on a form. On selecting a value on the Select List, I've to populate the Text Fields by fetching its values from the database by using the Select List value as the primary key.
How can I do this in APEX 4?

Yes, it comes from the same table account.
These are the sqls to fetch the 4 values in each dynamic action:

Right now, I only have one dynamic action for text field P14_BILLING_ADDRESS_1, and even for just one the value is not showing up in it. Please note that when I added for dynamic actions, the the values were showing up in all the 4 text fields before.
Then when I added 4 more dynamic actions for a different Select List (P14_CUSTOMER), but for the same text fields, it all stopped working. And now even a single dynamic action is not working. This is how the sql for next 4 dynamic actions looked like:
