My wife has a display problem on her MacBook, running OSX 10.7.5. When her cursor goes over a menu item on a webpage, the popup window is transparent so that the underlying page shows through.

How can I detect if ANY popup windows are showing

I have implemented a couple of JInternalFrames which can be closed by pressing the escape key, however, inside these frames different parts of the code will sometimes show JPopupMenus and they too should be closable by pressing the escape key.
Thus, I need to close my frames when the user presses escape but only if no popups are showing. For instance, if the user right clicks in my frame to show a popup, then the first time he or she presses escape the popup will close, and the second time the frame itself will close.
What I am looking for is a generic approach to this, that would make it possible for me to detect if any popup windows are currently visible and only if that is not the case I will proceed and close the frame.
I have been giving this some thought but I have not yet come up with a good solution to this. Has anyone implemented something like this or does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a preferred way to get all popups of a frame, dialog, window or the like?

I also ran into this issue. The previous post can be solved easily by the new event structures, but I need to check if a panel is the frontmost in windows as well.
The FP.Is frontmost property returns if a panel is the frontmost Vi within Labview but not if Labview is the frontmost window in windows.
I ran into this as I am making some stuff to use the scollwheel.
As an example I have added two Vi's. Just load & run these, as long as Labview is active this works. But I would like to have something that switches the lights off when I select another Windows application.
I (think I) cannot use the USER32.dll API as I reconstruct a reference to the 'owner vi' using a control reference.
Anyone has some experience with this??

Popup windows are small and cannot be resized in Firefox v31.0. v30.0 and earlier does not have this problem. Example: Hostgator's SmarterMail. XP, 7, 8.1.

My webmail interface is SmarterMail from Plesk as supplied by Hostgator. When Firefox updated to v31.0, I lost the ability to send mail because the popup windows for "New", "Reply", "Reply All", and "Forward" are too small to enter information and cannot be resized or maximized.
This problem does not occur with older versions of Firefox (tested 16.0.2, 21.0, 24.0, and 30.0) or with Chrome or Internet Explorer. While I am writing to you from a Windows XP Pro SP3 system, I have also verified the problem under Windows 7 Pro (x64) and Windows 8.1 (x64).
It's not profile settings, malware, or add-ons. I've tried Firefox Safemode and I've tried "Reset Firefox".
For the time being the workaround is to disable Firefox updates and downgrade everybody with v31 to v30. Please fix this ASAP. You have lots of people reporting it.

As a temporary workaround, you can block website scripts from resizing windows. It's a bit of a sledgehammer, but another user who has this problem indicated that it does stop the SmarterMail script from rolling up the window.
Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''dom''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''dom.disable_window_move_resize''' preference to switch it from false to true.

Firefox 3.6 - popup windows are unresponsive - can't scroll or enlarge them.

Since upgrading to v3.6, have had trouble with popup windows. Specifically on Medco.com. The windows open, but I can't do anything in those windows. The maximize, minimize, and close buttons in the upper right don't work, and the scroll bars don't work, so I can't see all the data in the window. Also, the only way to close the window is by right clicking the window on the task bar at the bottom of the screen, and then clicking on 'close'.
After having that problem with the popup windows on Medco.com, everything in Firefox was running very slowly. I had four tabs open, and they were all painfully slow. Finally Firefox crashed while I was writing an email in Hotmail.com.

I also have this problem and it just started in the last week or so. It seems to be dependent on my home network and the problem only exists with firefox. I have used chrome and IE8 with no issues. I can verify tomorrow that it only exists in my network but one thing I was able to test is that the problem exists even on my linux boot. I am totally dumbfounded with this problem and I can't find anything that will allow the gmail page to load. All other pages I have tried load fine, all be it a little slower than normal but they load. If anyone knows of a difference between firefox and all other browsers on how it goes through the router I would appreciate the info cause I don't know of any differences.

Requested popup windows are totally whited out

I've been having this problem in Firefox and Safari.
When I publish a blog on the website I'm working on, I need to add embedded links and pictures. All of a sudden, I can't get either to work in Firefox or Safari. I even changing servers and blogging programs, but can't get anything to work.
The issue is this: when I click on the embed button, a popup should come up with the text of highlighted and allow me to embed a link in it-- almost exactly like you would do in a Gmail message, if that helps. Instead, a blank window appears and there's nowhere to type or copy-paste text-- I can't embed HTML either. In WordPress, I can't even see the button to click on to insert pictures. I disabled Safari's popup blocker and my Firefox doesn't have one. I also cleared the cache and cookies, still nothing.
Any ideas? Is there some sort of security precaution in place, somehow? Thanks...

Windows are transparent

Hi there
Please can someone tell me how to disable transparent windows which appear on my Macbook Pro? I am using Yosemite. Below is a picture of my screen and on the right side you can see that my Outlook has gone transparent. I've gone into Settings, clicked 'Reduce Transparency' but it isn't working.

This appears to be an issue with Citrix Viewer. Is your version up to date?

Firefox won't display "popup windows"

What I mean when I say popup windows are for example you go to UPS.com, you fill in your tracking number then you hit the display proof of delivery, a smaller window usually pops up showing that information, for me, I just get a huge blank gray screen. It also happens when I go to a support website for example and click on live chat, that window that should be popping up doesn't display. Tried reinstalling firefox and that didn't seem to fix it either.

Redirecting popup windows to embed window

I'm working on embedding javafx inside 3d engine. I'm using EmbeddedWindow/HostInterface route used by JFXPanel and it works perfectly for most of the cases. Unfortunately, popup windows (right click, top menu, choice box etc) are giving some trouble in full screen mode - they are popping up as new top-level windows instead of being painted on existing scene.
This works in windowed mode - they pop up on top of render window and things work properly. But in full screen mode, I will need to catch them somehow.
I don't suppose there is an easy way to display all popups in-scene... but is there any way to catch popups being displayed and manually render/redirect needed events? It doesn't have to be very efficient, as popup windows are not very common.

For configuring inplace navigation:
1. Inplace navigation is supported by the launchpad framework.
2. From the application, whenever an OIF is launched from the workcenter, any navigational step from this OIF can be configured as inplace navigation or new window.
3. To configure this as inplace navigation, go to launchpad (transaction lpd_cust). Choose any entry and go the details in edit mode. Click on Show Advanced Parameters. Change the parameter Navigation Mode to Inplace Navigation.

When a allowed popup window opens, it is maximized. Before it was the size it was supposed to be but after updating Firefox, everything is maximized.

Popup windows are all maximized. This was not the case before updating Firefox.

Cannot block popup windows

Using Safari 3.1.
In the last couple of weeks I have noticed that popup windows are appearing, even though I have checked "block popup windows". If these are associated with a given site that I visit, I haven't figured out which.
Is anyone else having the same problem?

Sorry - but this does NOT solve the problem (Cannot block popup window). It will not prevent the same site (scanner2.malware-scan.com/5.swp/scan.php. .../) from popping up its window (and proceeding with an unauthorized download - of MS Windows .exe files) if you inadvertently revisit the site. So it is still an unresolved Safari "bug", as of 11 May 2008.
However, you CAN kill the download, using Safari > Quit, and then simply delete the .exe files from your Downloads folder.

Firefox should save session when only popup windows is open

When I have some window with multiple tabs open and I click close button on top, it saves the session and quits. Thats ok. But when there is some hidden popup window open (or source code) it destroys the session and leaves the popup open!!!! So the menu is gone and you lose your session. When i restart FF tabs are gone. So it should save session when only some popup windows are open.
Also it should ask what to do when i click close window, when it's unclear what to do

It is always a good idea to close a Firefox session by clicking File > Exit or Firefox button > Exit for proper shutdown.
Those pop-up windows are produced by JavaScript. JavaScript can disable certain features in the pop-up window. You can set some preferences using '''about:config''' so that those features are not disabled in the pop-up window. See:

OFT for web : does not record in popup windows

Hello (again)
I have a question :
I tried openscript to test my application (oADF based) and although it was got popup windows, all is working fine and recording.
Now with OFT for web, popup windows are not working (in recording mode, in popup window, buttons are not working) and not recorded !
Is there something in OFT for web parameters that I should change to have same behavior than openscript ?

Hi,
OFT comes with an Embedded browser so while record all navigations must be with in that browser only. You can try OFT Demo application see if you have any external pop ups in there as far as I have seen that demo application does not have any pop ups. Any external windows will not be recorded in OFT as far as I know. You can use Open script to do recordings in the external window.
IE popups can be handled in OFT for example the the https web page intialization warning IE pop up can be handled.

Popup windows in front of fullscreen flash - help

I have and swf embedded into an aspx web page. I am using ExternalInterface.call to open windows using javascript
Eeverthing is working fine when stage.displayState = "normal"
However, all popup windows are diplaying behind the flash when stage.displayState = "fullScreen";
Does full screen mode allow the popup windows to be displayed just like normal mode? if so, what is the trick?

I am making the following call in flash when the user clicks on a button

puInfo is a Javascript function in my aspx web page, the function shows an embedded pop up object

Note: pu is an aspx popup object that is a aprt of my web site
This all works fine when the flash is in normal mode but when in fullscreen mode all popup windows are showing behind the flash instead
I even tried using the window.open function in my Javascript instead and that caused the fullscren to go to normal

I installed Lion 10.7.4. Went to use Photoshop Cs and got a popup window. You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop CS because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Is there a way of getting this to work or do I have to get the all new!

PowerPC applications are unsupported in newer versions. You can upgrade Photoshop or you can install Snow Leopard in a partition.
1. Open Disk Utility (Applications > Utilities) and select your drive
2. Go to Partitions tab, press + button, create a new partition and press Apply
3. Insert the Snow Leopard install DVD and reboot pressing C key
4. Install it in the new partition
5. If you want to change boot, go to System Preferences > Startup Disk and select 10.7

Popup window error : You are trying to access a page that is no longer..

read all the threads related to popup windows and everything works fine except one thing: all the time I get following error :
"You are trying to access a page that is no longer active.
- The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed."
Let's define setup I did :
1. page installed and should be fine, some controller created as well;
2. new function defined using following params : Type = SSWA jsp function, web HTML = OA.jsp?page=/xxcompany/oracle/apps/icx/por/req/webui/xxPage
3. function added to menu used in particular responsibility
IF I define some Promt for this menu entry, I can access this page following way : OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=25860 - everything works fine but I need to get it in popup window
Fine, popup window URl (no problems with popup window at all) : OA_HTML/OA.jsp?page=/xxcompany/oracle/apps/icx/por/req/webui/xxPage return mentioned error message.
Fine, let's try this : OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_FUNCTION return same error again.
What else I tried? Well, post params like resp_id and so on = nothing helps so far.
Something missing in setup?
Any ideas?

Hi,
is it a seeded page or a custom one?
In the first case, have you extended the root AM?
I had an error like that when I tried to extend the root AM in a seeded page, before to know it was not possible.
