Portal admin URL via www server

Hi,
We are using the portal admin web tool located in the http://localhost:7001/xxxAdmin
The portal shows up and usable perfectly. However I would like to use it via webserver. The webserver redirects my URL to the http://localhost:7001/xxxAdmin.
So my request->http://xxx.com/xxAdmin is redirected to http://localhost:7001/xxxAdmin.
Login page shows up perfectly. I try to log in and the URL is broken. http://localhost:7001/xxxAdmin/login/login.do shows a page not found. Of course on the web there is no localhost.
How can I avoid this redirect? Or how can I hardcode the URL to use? I understood that the beehive-url-template.xml is for similar purpose but what is the template url name that the portal admin tool is using? Any other solution?

1. To deploy without Workshop/Eclipse, you will generally create an EAR of your application (via the Export Wizard under the File > Export menu) and deploy that with either the WLS console, WLST, or the weblogic.Deployer utility class. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14245/deployment.htm#i1027718 has a fair amount of information.
2. The WLP admin portal is a webapp deployed as part of your application, via the wlp-tools-admin-app-lib.ear shared library. So, its host and port number are the same as wherever you deploy your application. The url path of the admin portal is controlled via your application's META-INF/weblogic-application.xml file; there's a <wls:library-context-root-override> element for the 'tools' context-root.
3. Since the WLP admin portal is a webapp deployed as part of your application, it needs to have a unique context-root to support deploying multiple WLP applications. The ear wizard in Eclipse defaults to specifying the context-root as [appname]Admin to support this, but you can always change the context-root as I described above.
4. No, currently, the WLP admin console is application-scoped and controls the configuration and behavior for that application. So, for multiple applications, you will have to use multiple admin console urls.

    I am learning the Weblogic Portal using workshop. I Installed Weblogic Portal 10.3.2 with Workshop and created a sample portal application, configured the Workshop to start the weblogic server and start the server,Run my application EAR into server and saw theopen administration console.
    Please clarify the following quesitons
    1. How do i deploy the portal application and access my application without using Workshop?
    2. What is the portal admin console url,port number?
    3. What is the purpose of using application specific console in WLP i.e http://localhost:port/myappAdmin ?
    4. is there any common administrator console in WLP i.e without using application specific console like http://localhost:port/myappAdmin ?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot

  • Unable to read Portlet Preferences set via Portal Admin

    I have a portlet which should read the preference values set in the portal admin by an administrator.
    I am running the portal as .portal and not in the streaming mode.
    After setting the values in the portal administration I always click on propogate to all instances. But when I run the portal in workshop in debugger mode it is not reading the values as stored in Portal admin but it is showing the values which were stored while creating the portlet in workshop in portlet designer.
    Please help how to make the portlet read the preference values stored via the portal admin console if the user visits the portal as an anonymous user. Any help is greatly appreciated on this subject. I have searched everywhere but have no solution.
    I am using Weblogic Platform 8.1 sp5
    Thanks
    rj

    The portlet preferences set in portal administration reflect only in streaming mode, since streaming mode uses the database that is used by portal administration. If you wish to see the portlet preferences set in portal adminstration, try running in streaming mode.
    But when you run portal from workshop ( which would be file mode), it wouldn't pickup portlet preferences created via portal administration.
    Note: The easiest way to distinguish a streaming mode from file mode is presence of 'appmanager' in URL.
    eg: http://localhost:7001/sampleportal/appmanager/MyPortal/desktop1

    Hello,
    Can't you log in with an account that is already in the Administrators group then add the new account? I think you will need to run the command with a user account that already has admin access to PWA - I don't currently have an environment to test this
    on.

  • Weblogic Portal Admin Console is not displayed after the ear deployment

    Hi
    There is a Weblogic portal application deployed in the Weblogic Server 9.2 mp3 . The application is fine , when opened with the browser, but the problem is the portal admnistrator console is not opened.
    The application is deployed in a clustered environment with an Admin server and one managed server. The domain is configured for Production Mode and running in an Solaris environment.
    I had another similar kind of domain where the application is running fine and the weblogic portal admin console is also fine.
    The following difference is observed in both the server logs. I see that there is some problem with the initialization of /WEB-INF/beehive-netui-config.xml. The log continues with the messages like "< Pushing body text '" etc.

    how did you create this domain? Is this dataSource defined - portalFrameworkPoolAlwaysXA? is it targetted to cluster? did you get errors on startup related to this dataSource?

  • DNS Name to portal (short) URL

    Hi folks,
    we are going to integrate some webapplications via url-iview in our portal (2004s). The applications have there own dns-name within our domain-dns-server.
    After the integration, my plan is that the dns will be resolved into a portal (short)URL. In IIS i can take the hostheader for this, but how is it possible in the portal?
    best regards
    Frank

    Hi,
    ok I finally got it
    You will encounter the following problem:
    If you configure your alias ABC to resolve to the IP Address of your portal there is no application associated with it (/xxx) so you will always call the index.html (J2EE Startpage of your J2EE)
    What you can do here is modify the index.html to redirect to a specific destination using meta http-equiv="refresh"
    e.g.
    meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=/irj/portal/
    Since it is just HTML you cannot disinguish and you will always be redirected to this destination when accessing the startpage or just http://portalhost
    Now you have several ways to solve this:
    1. I think that you can define Virtual Hosts in the HTTP Provider Service (Visual Admin / HTTP Provider Service) and Application Aliases (I've never done that but it should work). This means that you define a virtual host (e.g ABC) and map it to any application e.g /myAPP1 on your J2EE
    see the following doc:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/e5/ac55423948b330e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    2. You can change the Directory Index of your Engine (HTTP Provider / Properties TAB / Infer Names Property) and add something like index.jsp to the list
    Default Value is:
    {index.html,index.htm,default.html,default.htm}
    Then you rename your index.html to something like startpage.html and put the index.jsp in the directory instead. In your JSP you will then be able to parse the Request (e.g. parse the Request URL, Headers etc. and send an appropriate redirect that fits your needs.) In all other cases you just send a redirect to startpage.html so you will still be able to see the Startpage if necessary
    You have to put this jsp in the following path:
    /usr/sap/<SID>/JC<InstanceNo>/j2ee/cluster/serverN/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root
    Note that if you are just typing
    http://ABC and ABC will be resolved to your portal IP you will have to bind your portal to port 80 in order to make this work (I would not do that because you will get into trouble when upgrading or patching) or you will have to provide the port e.g. http://ABC:50000
    If you do not want to provide the port than you will have to put a Proxy (e.g. IIS on the portal host that listens on port 80 and does whatever you like (e.g. parses HTTP Header and sends redirect or whatever)
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Timeout to Web Services using via Proxy Server

    Hello,
    I'm wondering if anybody can help.
    I have a couple of preset web services on the coldfusion web server. As far as I know these have never worked since it's original installation back in June 2011.
    Whenever I attempt to refresh one of the web services using CF administrator I am seeing the following error message:
    Unable to refresh webservice.
    Unable to read WSDL from URL: https://www.****.cfc?wsdl.
    Error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect.
    The server does not have a direct connection to the internet as it is connected to the internal company network which uses a proxy server for internet connectivity.
    I am suspecting that CF is attempting to connect to the internet without the knowledge of the proxy server.
    I have looked high and low but unable to locate anything in CF admin to add a proxy server.
    I'm hoping somebody can reply with a simple solution to fix the above.
    Many Thanks,
    Andy

    Andy, two things.
    First, the problem could be proxy-related, but I notice also that the URL has https. And in that you’re getting a connection timeout, it could be that the destination server (at that URL in the web service call) is set to only allow SSL calls (or perhaps even calls to that specific site, directory, or file) from a specific IP address. Try visiting that URL from a browser running ON THAT SERVER (where CF is installed). It does not good to test the URL from your local development workstation. That would not be the same IP address from which the request would come when run via CF.
    Second, as for specification of proxy info, here’s something to consider: the CF Admin interface showing web services is populated by a call from within CFML code (using CFINVOKE/cfobject/createobject) invoking that web service. If you can find the code that is really calling the web service, you should find that you can specify the proxy info there. See:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/Tags_i_10.html (cfinvoke)
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/Tags_m-o_14.html (cfobject)
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=functions-pt0_23.html (createobject)
    Note that with createobject, you do it using a new (for CF8) argstruct. See the docs there for more, or my blog entry:
    http://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2007/9/5/cf8_hiddengem_createobject_argstruc t
    Let us know if any of this helps.

  • Set-up with different urls for login server and mid-tier

    The desired external host names are the following:
    Portal -> http://www.myportal.com
    Login Server -> http://www.login.com
    The real (internal) host names are the following:
    midtier -> midtier.xyz.com
    infrastructure-> infra.xyz.com
    How should the Oracle HTTP Server, Login/SSO server, portal be configured with this type of set-up?
    In particular, what should be in the httpd.conf, dads.conf, mod_osso.conf files and which values should be passed to the ssocfg and ptlasst scripts? Does the DAS url need to have the internal or external host name?

    How should the scenario described above be integrated into the instructions below? $HOSTNAME may refer to the internal or external midtier or infrastructure machine name. Which should be used?
    Assume HTTPS for the login server --> https://www.login.com.

    Subject: How to configure SSL with Portal 9.0.2

    PURPOSE ------- This note explains how to set up SSL with Portal. There are several ways to configure SSL with Portal. This note uses SSL only between the browser and WebCache. The communication between the Webcache/Apache or PPE/Webcache is done in HTTP. This installation is a lot less CPU extensive than a full SSL configuration. Please note the configuration outlined here is not currently certified for Portal 9.0.2; however, it is fully supported by Oracle Support and Development. This means that this configuration was not tested by the Portal QA Department within Oracle. The difference in the QA test was that all components of the configuration were in SSL mode. SCOPE & APPLICATION ------------------- This note is intended for Portal administrators. This note is based on Unix. The Windows NT configuration is very similar. HISTORY ------- Version 1.0: SSL with a Unix shell script Version 1.1: Comment about the Webcache HTTP port How to configure SSL with Portal 9.0.2 -------------------------------------- Step 1 - Prerequisite --------------------- A. Get a SSL certificate ------------------------ IAS v2 is given with dummy certificates. You can use them. If you wish to use real SSL certificates, follow a note to configure SSL with Webcache like : - Note 161863.1 - Configuring WebCache with SSL - NT/2000 - Note 165305.1 - Configuring WebCache with SSL - Unix B. Password of the database schemas of portal --------------------------------------------- You need to have the passwords of the following database users: Database user Your passwords ---------------------------------------------- portal orasso orasso_ps orasso_pa These passwords are normally randomized during the installation of IAS V2. To find them, please follow one of these notes: - Note 206514.1 : IAS 9.0.2 : How to get the portal passwords to run the PTLASST script (Windows) - Note 199633.1 : Script to determine orasso password in 9iAS 9.0.2 on Unix - Note 205984.1 : Script to determine orasso password in 9iAS 9.0.2 on Windows C. Ports -------- During this installation, you will need to know a lot of ports of IAS V2. Please collect this information, before to begin. You can see the port list by going to the homepage of the midtier and of the infrastructure web page and clicking on the tab Port. You can also read the file portlist.ini that resides in both ORACLE_HOME in the directory $ORACLE_HOME/install. Here is the list, you need: Name of the port My port numbers Your port numbers --------------------------------------------------------------------- Midtier Web Cache HTTP port 7783 Midtier Web Cache HTTPS port 4459 Midtier Web Cache Admin port 4000 Midtier Web Cache Invalidation port 4001 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Infrastructure Oracle HTTP Server port 7784 Infrastructure Oracle HTTPS Server port 4460 Infrastructure Internet Directory(non-SSL) 4039 --------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Backups ---------- You should take a backup of your IAS installation in case that you want to revert all the changes done here and/or if you make a mistake during the configuration. The only good way to do a backup of IAS 9.0.2 is to have a full backup of the both ORACLE_HOMES of the Infrastructure and of the MidTier. Step 2 - Configure Portal to run in SSL --------------------------------------- 1) Edit the Webcache configuration Go to the administration port > http://hostname:web_admin_port/ > Typically http://hostname:4000/ Login: administrator/administrator Go to General Configuration / Site to Server Mapping -> Change the rule WebCache SSL - HTTP SSL -> Below the title Select "Application Web Servers" -> Check the checkbox with HTTP -> Uncheck the one with HTTPS -> Submit On the top of Webcache admin screen, press on <Apply the changes> Then restart WebCache. 2) Edit the dads.conf (in $MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplql/conf) Add a new line in the DAD: <Location /pls/portal> PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList REQUEST_PROTOCOL=HTTPS,SERVER_PORT=4459 Where 4459 is the HTTPS port of the MIDTIER. 3) Modify the web.xml of the portal application ($MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/applications/portal/portal/WEB-INF) Add several parameters to the page servlet (PPE). [...] <servlet> <servlet-name>page</servlet-name> [...] <init-param> <param-name>useWebCache</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>useScheme</param-name> <param-value>http</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>usePort</param-name> <param-value>7783</param-value> </init-param> </servlet> [...] Where 7783 is the HTTP port of Webcache. Step 3 - Run the PTLASST ------------------------ Because of bug 2659809, we will remove an entry in OID before to run the PTLASST script. This entry will be recreated by PTLASST. Webcache has no way to limit the use of a port to a specific machine or IP address. This is not a real issue because the goal of SSL is not to avoid that people access your server but that people intercept the data sent between the browser and the webserver. But in case that you/your customer is very sensible about security and want a webserver with SSL only (what is very rare), you may want to add a firewall in front of Webcache to block the HTTP port. • Can't access to Portal Admin Console.

    Hi all,
    I'm working with WLP 10.2. I've created the ear-file (using maven) and deployed it on server (with Unix-system). The current application works well.
    My current task is a creation portal in streaming mode. Unfortunately I can't access to Portal Admin console for resolving task. I always retrieve "Error 404 (Not found)".
    As I know the admin-tools.war is responsible for Portal Admin Console. I've checked admin-tools.war is running on server (with status "Active").
    I'm using the next path for running Portal Admin Console: {serverhost:port}/{context root of admin-tools}/portal.portal.
    Maybe, Should I set up(correct) application.xml or weblogic.xml?
    Please let me know if you have any ideas.
    Thanks,
    Yuriy

    I think your URL is wrong, try with the following...
    http://{server:port}/{name_your_ear}Admin/portal.portal
    name_your_ear= The name of your Enterprise Application.
    For example,
    http://localhost:7001/DemosEarAdmin/portal.portal
    I hope this helps

  • Using portal admin console through an ssh tunnel?

    I'm trying to login on the portal admin over an established ssh connection:
    - profile server listen on hostname.subdomain.domain, port 8080
    - an ssh tunnel (via portforwarding through a firewall) from client port
    10000 to profile server 8080
    - connect from webbrowser to http://localhost:10000/console
    that won't work: internal server errors. If i change my hosts file:
    localhost 127.0.0.1 hostname.subdomain.domain
    it works. But this is ugly and conflicts with DNS.
    So, how can i configure the profile server to accept connections over an ssh
    tunnel? Anyone any idea?
    regards, Jordi

    Hello,
    Does any one in BEA have an answer to this. I was stumped when asked by a client. Any response will be great.

  • WebLogic 8.1 Portal Admin problem !

    Hello,
    I use the web-based portal admin to create a portal with some deployed portlets.
    My problem is that the URL is very long (http://localhost/portal/appmanager/dse/desktop1?...) and can I create a portal with the URL like (http://localhost/dse/desktop1?....)

    Address 7001 does't seem to be good idea for debuging, it is weblogic default address.
    try 3999.

  • Getting error when connecting to url via https

    I am connecting to a url via https. Everything seems to work when I open the connnect as follows.

    You have to make sure that the cert for the CA which signed the server's
    certificate is in your keystore (cacerts) file.
    Check out 'keytool' and the JSSE readme.
    Cheers,

  • Get Gateway name / url via JSP

    Anyone say what is the method to get the Gateway name / url via JSP?
    Thanks
    Fausto

    Alex, in the normal case you have reason the client host is the gateway host.
    A simple code:
    <%
    InetAddress inet = InetAddress.getByName( request.getRemoteHost() );
    String gateway = inet.getHostName();
    String portal="http://" + gateway + "/portal/dt";
    gateway="https://" + gateway + "/";
    String url=request.getParameter("url");
    if ( url != null) {
    response.sendRedirect(gateway + url);;
    }else{
    responde.sendRedirect(gateway + portal);
    %>
    I put a jsp in the web container, I contact the jsp trough an url
    http://www.mydomain/portal/desktop/redirect.jsp without the method get for the url variable, if I call the jsp directly without gateway from my client the gateway variable is my dns hostname and the jsp cannot redirect my in the portal login page
    If I take the localhost, it works fine but if a particular case when the gateway and the platform are the same host.
    There is not a HTTP enviroment variable to get the gateway name or a simple java method to ask the correct host?
    Thank you again
