Portal API for pages, styles etc

Question

Greetings,
I have laboured through documentation and have reached the point where I can manage portlets & portlet instances through the API.
What I can not do is programatically create, delete or alter actual "portal pages".
I would prefer to not have to resort to manual update/delete statements on the PORTAL30.WWPOB_PAGE$ table and its dependants..... that's not a terribly robust solution. An example of what I want to do is programatically change the "style" for a given page.
Am I missing something obvious here?

I hope you meant building portal pages programmatically. :)
In 10.1.4, there is a set of API procedures (like wwsbr_api) used for this purpose to do content management programmatically. you can create page groups, pages and items etc or edit them.
