Portal Business Package URGENT ( I award Good points)

Dear Portal Gurus,
When I'm importing a business package there is an option which says "Client" / "Server"
Can anyone explain to me what each mean and when to use them.

And, For SD Module specific BP, you need to consult with your SAP SD functional team because there are so many BPs have different set of applications and application suites.
e.g. Business Package for Internal Sales Representative is used within the sales organization.

Changing Business Package ( I award good points )

If for example I import a business package into portal and I try to assign roles defined in the portal to the roles in the business package what are the considerations.Also pls let me know if can I change any particular object in the standard business package e.g. changing Iview properties.
Is it recomended or I need to always make a Delta Link/copy of the object in question and do the changes.

Nirmal,
I don't think adding your roles to business package roles should cause you any problems provided you setup the Permissions on the content itself properly, e.g. setting your existing content up with Permissions allowing the business package roles to access them.
If you are going to change anything on the business package content then I would create a delta-linked copy in a new folder of the same name as the original, but inder your content folders, otherwise when u upgrade or patch the new business package content will probably overwrite your changes. In any case it wont be immediately apparent that you have made changes to the standard content or what those changes are if you edit the original content.

Enterprise Portal Business Package for Dealer Poral

Hello Gurus,
I am not much into Auto, but what I would like to understand here - is there any Business Package ( Portal Content ) released from SAP which I can deploy and access the VMS and WMS functions over Enterprise Portal.
If not, are there sets of services available in the backend IS-Auto, which needs to be activated and access over Portal as IAC templates or Transaction iViews.
This is relatively urgent query and appropriate answer will surely be reqarded.

Business Package related to Awards, incentives and certification

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there is any business package available for various employee engagement functionalities, i.e Awards, Incentives, Recognitions, Certifications, Additional Benefits and Talent Mangement?
I need to implement the above in Portal preferrebly though business package(s).

Portal business Packages

Hi,
Can we implment SAP business packages like Biller direct, buyer on External Facing portal.
Also I am unable to find documentation on maintaining multi-lingual External facing portal.

The SAP Portal is multi-lingual by default (incl. left to right, right to left), and the EFP isn't really different from the "normal" portal as the same language identification and content delivery principles apply. It get's more interesting when dealing with anonymous users, WPC content, etc, but nothing really over complicated.

Importing Portal Business packages

Hi,
I am trying to import Business packages through
System Administration->Transport Packages->Import.
While downloading the packages, I have received as *.SCA from service market place. But in portal, it is accepting only *.EPA files.
How can I upload these business packages through portal?

Hello Mohan,
If you are using NW2004s you can also use JSPM to install business packages. It takes care of the sequence of installation as well.
All you need to do is copy these sca or all the installation files into the directory : \usr\sap\trans\EPS\in
Then go to : usr\sap\TES\DVEBMGS01\j2ee\JSPM folder under j2ee. and start the tool. It is fast too.

I think fleet mgmt comes under CS(customer service module) and that i dont know if we have a BP for CS.

Need a Business Package for Vendor Portal with ECC as backend ?

Hello,
We are looking for a portal business package which can talk to backend ECC system and has the functionality to create/change/display POu2019s, Invoices, Inventory and reporting functionality. All this functionality needs to be available to Vendors via an External Facing Netweaver Portal.
I have gone through the list of BPu2019s available at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/contentportfolio and found some BPu2019s available for Buyers which has the above required functionality, however it has exposed ECC transactions directly via Transaction iViews which we cannot expose to Vendors.
Also there is one Business Package called Supplier Collaboration which delivers the required functionality, but unfortunately we do not have SRM/SUS components in the project.
Please let me know if you know business package to implement or if not best practices to achieve the functionality.

I have to deploy following business packages in Enterprise portal:
Business Package for Recruiting Administrator 1.41
Business Package for Recruiter 1.41
Business Package for Employee Self-Service (SAP ERP) 1.41
Business Package for Manager Self-Service (BP ERP05 MSS 1.41)

I got the procedure for deploying ESS and MSS but not for the rest
Can you please let me know how do I deploy for recruting and Talent develoment and Managament,I know it is through SDM
I found the patches for them also on market place but suppose if I want to apply the package

Changing in standard Business Package

Hi
I need to change the web dynpro component supplied in stanadard business package. These web dynpro component are called from portal Iviews.
Should i make the Z copy of the webdynpro or starightway change to standard business package.
How will it effect during upgrade or modification by SAP

Hi Naresh,
when you create a z copy you must change the business package at least at the point where the WD application is called. So there are two points where SAP modifications will impact your changes.
My suggestion: if you can't avoid using the portal at all, avoid at least making modifications.
In the backend use the enhancement framework in order to be independent of SAP modifications. I put an example in the WD4A book, that shows how to work with the enhancement framework.

Business package refers to structural collection of iviews, pages , worksets etc which is made according to certain logic based upon a certain business process.
In a way it defines reusability in SAPs Enterprise Portal
What do you want to know
1)Is it about how to go for Business Package Certification
2)How to implement existing business package
If it is the second one probably you can start by implementing ESS ,MSS package

Print functionality in MDM Standard Business Packages iViews

Hi Experts,
I have successfully connected MDM repository and EP and created system objects and system aliases and suitable user mapping. Now I am having a page with 5 iViews - Text Search, PickList search, Hierarchy search, Resultset and ItemDetails.
The requirement is to have a print button in the page which when, clicked will generate a user friendly (preferrably a PDF) page and will allow the user to take a print out of the resulting PDF page generated.
I have gone through the following links

To be more specific, I am still not sure how to add a custom button and action to a standard iView - the deployed portal content is not a Web Dynpro application =, although I am not very sure what exactly is it.

Question 1: How to add default search criteria to Search iViews in
MDM Portal Business Package
Ans. You can make use of Named Searches. Open the Data Manager Create a entry in the Named Search table, select the desired Supplier as a search criteria and save the search in the Named Search created and assign this Named Search to the user in MDM Console. Now use this user while performing User Mapping step. This will limit the Records to the search criteria of the named search and whenever you create new records satisfying the search criteria, it will get added to named search automatically.

I tried this in MDM 5.5 SP02, but no luck
