Portal requests don't hit the deployed J2EE filter

Hi,
What I am tring to obtain is that all requests are filtered via a J2EE filter. I've deployed the filter and tested it successfully. The filter mapping was set to "/*" so that it catches all requests. It works fine when tested at the J2EE level.
The problem comes when I tested it within the portal. The filter doesn't seem to be hit (because upon hitting some values are stored in the HttpSession. A session dump shows interesting results; the test at the J2EE level (via a servlet) shows the values set correctly in the session, as below:

Now the question: why the filter is not being invoked? Also, where is the object named TEMP_LANG from the first test? What am I missing here?

What I noticed when I had a similar problem was that it matters which order the definition of the filter is declared in the web.xml file. Try playing around with these settings and see whether this sorts it out.
Perhaps even post the web.xml file so that we can check it is configured correctly

Hi,
According to the log, it seems that TMG firewall denied the request and replied with an HTTP 407 response, indicating that proxy authentication was required. This was done because the Forefront TMG firewall did not have any access rules which would allow
the anonymous request. Please check if you have configured related access rules.
When did you recieve this log? Is there anyting wrong? Which authentication method you have used, Kerberos, NTLM or other?
It seems that each time a web proxy client requests a resource through a Forefront TMG firewall that requires NTLM authentication the client is actually denied twice during the transaction before being successfully authenticated and allowed access. When
the Forefront TMG firewall is configured to use Kerberos there is only a single denied request and HTTP 407 response and then contact a domain controller and obtain a Kerberos ticket to present to the TMG firewall to gain access to the resource.
If you configured the TMG clients with a certain proxy name, please make sure you typed the TMG's domain computer name only (not IP address nor alias).

HELP!!! Cannot deploy J2EE application with Oracle JDBC driver...

I am writing a J2EE application which (in theory, at least)
connects to an Oracle 9i database.
I have written a simple Java test app utilising only the
java.sql package classes (e.g. Connection, ResultSet) to directly
connect to the database. As long as the classes12.zip is in the
CLASSPATH it works fine.
Now I have written an Enterprise application (SessionBean,
Remote and Home interface and Client) which I am attempting to
deploy via deploytool.
If I include just the client jar and EJB jar in the application
it deploys okay but when I run the application (using runclient)
it produces the following error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/OracleDriver
(It is nested within other error output but that is the core
issue).
However if I try to include the JAR libraries into the app
(classes12.jar and nls_charset.jar from $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib),
then I get the following output from deploytool when I hit the
"deploy" (or "redeploy") button:
Deployment error: invalid entry compressed size
(expected 14411 but got 14580 bytes)
Can someone please tell me what is going on???
How can I deploy the J2EE application including the Oracle
JDBC Driver???
My only other option at the moment is to place all the function-
-ality in the client and not use the J2EE framework.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK Ben,
I admit I'm a bit confused. Let me see if I understand where you're
coming from.
You have written a J2EE application that includes a session bean,
correct? If so, your session bean needs to be deployed to an EJB
container. What container are you using? The Oracle 9i database
has an embedded EJB container which (theoretically) you can use.
However, as far as I know, Oracle recommends you use OC4J as the
EJB container. So again I ask, what EJB container are you using?
If, as you say, you are new to EJB, then I think you should
immediately start working wiht OC4J as your EJB container.
Did you look at the tutorial link I gave in my previous post? It
explains -- step by step -- how to create, deploy and run a J2EE
application using OC4J as the EJB container. It also has links to
introductory material for people without little knowledge of J2EE
and EJB.
I have 9iAS Enterprise Edition and 8.1.7.1.0 database server (and
OC4J) installed on my SUN machine. I cannot find any of the
utilities you mention -- "j2eeadmin","runclient" or "deploytool".
What Oracle software have you installed? What are the versions?
What platform are you using?
A J2EE application (according to the specification from SUN)
consists of modules. A module can either be a client module or an
EJB module. A client module can either be a java application client
or a web-based client (servlet or JSP). A J2EE application usually
contains one client module and one EJB module. A J2EE application
needs to be deployed to a J2EE container.
Hopefully the J2EE picture is becoming clearer. I think you need
to read some introductory material regarding J2EE if you intend
to become proficient at it.
I feel that you are under the impression that a J2EE application
is a glorified JDBC application. It isn't (as far as I'm aware).

I am getting the following error while deploying a web dynpro application through NWDS.
Aborted: development component 'WebDynpro_ErrorBehavior'/'local'/'LOKAL'/'0.2007.05.29.17.02.04'/'1':Cannot login to the SAP J2EE Engine using user and password as provided in the Filesystem Secure Store. Enter valid login information in the Filesystem Secure Store using the SAP J2EE Engine Config Tool. I get this error after I supply the SDM password which NWDS asks before deploying.

where px1db is my portal server and x900704 is my localmachine name.
I dont know why it says so ...In NWDS i have configured only px1db.

Deployed J2EE application successfully. But cannot access the application

I installed SAP Netweaver 2004s and tried to create a Web application and an ear file looking at the example given at

I followed all the steps listed there. The deployment from the Developer Studio showed success. When I try to access the application using the url
http://localhost:50000/Calculator/Calculator.jsp I get the following error. I am not sure why it is looking at com.sap.engine.docs.examples for the file.
The requested resource /Calculator/Calculator.jsp is not available
Details: File [Calculator/Calculator.jsp] not found in application root of alias [/] of J2EE application [sap.com/com.sap.engine.docs.examples].
Please let me know what I am possibly doing wrong here. Any help is very much appreciated.

Hi Viji,
If you are opening the web browser from your desktop , instead of <localhost>, you should use the name of the machine on which your J2EE engine is installed.
Call the calculator application by entering its URL in the Web browser:
http://<host>:50000/<contextRoot>/<Name_of_JSP.jsp>
Where <host> is where j2ee is installed.

Problem deploying web service with the deploy tool (J2EE)

I am trying to deploy a sample Web Service on the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1.
I run into a deployment problem ("jaxrpc compilation exception") when I have one of the web methods declared (in the endpoint interface) to throw a service-specific exception. The problem disappears when I change the declaration to throw an Exception.

If you can't remember its password then you should be able to get it reset (either via email or by answering its security questions) via http://iforgot.apple.com

If the phone doesn't power on and isn't seen by the computer then you wouldn't be able to pull data off it with the USB connection to your computer.
You could pursue data recovery if the notes are very valuable, but the cost can be similar to having data recovered from a failed computer drive(possibly prohibitively expensive).

Your code is absolutely unreadable - even if someone was willing to
help, it's simply impossible. I do give you a few tips, though: If you
understand your code (i.e. if it really is YOUR code), you should be
able to realize that your minimum and maximum never get set (thus they
are both 0) and your exam 3 is set with the wrong value. SEE where
those should get set and figure out why they're not. Chances are you
are doing something to them that makes one 'if' fail or you just
erroneously assign a wrong variable!

Don't redeploy the whole portal application each time we change a portlet

Hi folks,
I have around 50 struts portlets in my weblogic portal, following the struts portlet architecture in the documentation, so we have now one ear which ends up that whenever we change any portlet we will have to redeploy the whole portal :( !!!
I have read about federated portal, but it seems that its great advantage is when your portal wants to consume remote portlets deployed in remote producers, but this is not my case, since all my portlets are local ones, so I think there might be a simpler solution (*like in websphere where we have separate war for each portlet*)
any suggestions ? would be great if you can provide any resources or links document steps needed to accomplish this

Deploying new portal and its effect on the old desktop

I have an application which has few .portal files which are then converted to desktop in production through admin portal.
Now i changed my source code and create a new ear file and deploy it in the prod environment.
1) What will be the effect of the new deployment and changed codebase for the underlying .portal file on the old desktop created.
2) Do i need to create the desktop again everytime i deploy a new update ear file?
3) what if i dont update?
Any documentation pointing the specific exact anwers to above questions.

When you say changed code base do you mean you have added /removed books /pages? If so these wont be picked up by the deploy
1) None , deployment does not affect the desktop created.
2)No , you only need to modify the desktop if you want your changes to be picked or if you want to make changes manually.
However your best bet is to use propagation to make the changes

even if you create a new desktop based on a .portal which has changed , then you are prompted what you want to do, and you can decide accordingly (e.g. choosing replace affects the already created desktop)

Its easier to test out the changes on a staging server and propagate the changes once your sure everything works. Note that so far propagation has never worked correctly all the time so backup everything (including the embedded LDAP)
3) No Book/Page changes are picked up

which doesnt include leave request type inthe description

You can create and take where you pass leave type and get description of it and create an field in WF containr and fill it than you can use add that field when you are sending notification,.
