Hi,
Has anybody installed Portal server 4.0 with WLS 6.1 with service pack 2. I got
the following problem:
I changed my WLS6.0 to 6.1 sp2 on WinNT.
Starting install Portal 4.0, it went through well. However, I couldnot
start Portal server. Hereis the massege after start Portal server (WLS is
running) :

Rahul, just wanted to thank you for the info. I was having the same
problem, and changing the classpath and capacityincrement worked.
Thanks again,

Hi,
Modify the 'Set Classpath' in your startPortal.bat as follows:
SET CLASSPATH=%WEBLOGIC_HOME%\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;%WEBLOGIC_HOME%\lib\weblogic.jar;
..all the existing stuff..etc.
You might also need to change the 'capacityIncrement' in your
config.xml to > 0
let me know if it goes thru.

  • How to configure portal server with the Backend Oracle database

    Hi Portal Experts,
we are planning to install Netweaver 04s sp stack 9 full java edition with Oracle 8i on windows platform.
we have the installation docs of portal but we didn't have any idea about how to configure Portal server with the Backend Oracle database at the time of installation or after ost installation of portal.can anyone provide the documentation about this or guide me how to achieve this.
PLZ share ur views---your help would be highly appreciable.

    HI
if you r working in Sap enterprise portal use for connection url
    jdbc:sap:sqlserver://ilsql01.tlv.sap.corp:1433;DatabaseName=Northwind
ilsql01.tlv.sap.corp:1433 this is your portal url with port number
    Northwind is your database name.
for dirver you need to give
    com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
in case if you r working on other than sap say windows along with oracle try to use
    Connection URL as jdbc:oracle:<drivertype>:@<database>
    Driver name as oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    ex jdbc:oracle:thick:@localhost:3036:mydb
Oracle implements two types of JDBC drivers:
Thick JDBC drivers built on top of the C-based Net8 client, as well as a Thin (Pure Java) JDBC driver to support downloadable applets. Oracle JDBC drivers are used to create JDBC applications to communicate with Oracle databases.
Oracle extensions to JDBC include the following features:
    Data access and manipulation
    LOB access and manipulation
    Oracle object type mapping
    Object reference access and manipulation
    Array access and manipulation
    Application performance enhancement

  • Integrating Portal Server with MS Exchange Server

I am trying to outline a solution for integrating MS Exchange with Portal
Server. I realize that this can be done through the Exchange Netlet in iPS
3.0, but this will enable Outlook client access on the users machine through
the portal, and is not what we are looking for. What we would like to
provide is calendar (appointments, tasks, etc.) and mail information within
a channel on the portal. We would then provide a link to the web-based
interface for Exchange within the channel. The interface is simple, since
web-Exchange provides a URL, although any insight on providing SSO to the
    application would be helpful.
Is there a way we can interface with Exchange using Java-based wrappers to
retrieve the calendar and mail information for a specific user? It seems
like the NetMail and iPlanet Calendar Server implementations would be
overkill for what we are looking for.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Here are some of my
    thoughts:
    1. Since Outlook has a web-interface(provides a URL), we can obviously serve
the web application up through the portal.
    2. iPlanet Portal Server 3.0 NetMail. This will provide us with an IMAP
interface to the contents of the mail server, allow a user to send emails,
read emails, create folders, change folders, etc. This seems to provide a
full-fledge email application, which may be more than we actually need. Is
there any way to use the Java NetMail Servlet or the NetMail Lite version to
get what we are looking for?
    3. Using iPlanet Calendar Server for the appointments and schedule, although
I believe that Exchange does not conform to the iCalendar protocol
specification? Again, this is a full-fledge calendar application, and seems
to be overkill for what we may need.
    4. Using a netlet to connect to Microsoft Exchange server, which can be done
with Portal Server 3.0 because it implements the Microsoft Exchange/DCE
protocol. Again, this provides Outlook client access, and I am not sure if
this is what we want. Can we use the NetLet to capture the information
being retrieved from exchange and display it using JSP rather than s
    5. Writing a Java wrapper to the contents of the mail server using the Java
Mail API, although this does not solve the calendar problem. We can then
display whatever info we want on our JSP pages using the wrapper classes.
    Sean.

  • Accessing portal server with virtual host via web dispatcher

    Hi,
I have portal installed at http://hostname.com:50000. A web dispatcher is installed in front of it which uses port number 80 and redirects to http://hosname.com:50000.
so when i say http://hostname, my web dispatcher redirects to http://hostname.com:50000/ from where i can access my portal.
now I want to create an alias for my hostname, say when user types http://mydev, it should redirect to http://hostname.company.com thru webdispatcher.
so i created virtual host for my portal server . how to use this in my virtual hosts in my webdispatcher.
I have already gone throug this..
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/fe/cda776f2f64d5287c614b2f715c25f/frameset.htm
would be great if some one can help me in this regard.
    Thank you
P.S: I dont want to create a DNS alias with name mydev, then i think virtual host concept doesnt make sense, atleast in java engines..which has different concept in SAP systems.

    HI Jacob,
Thank you for the reply.. I am little bit confused.could you please clarify the followint to me.
My requirement is when user types "http://epdev", it should redirect to http://hostname.company.com:50000
    1. To do that, according to what you said, I will create a DNS alias epdev to the IP address where my portal is hosted. so when the user types http://epdev, I have set up a parameter in web dispatcher profile to redirect to http://hostname.company.com:50000/.. so my requirement is fulfilled now..I hope this the correct proc for what I intended to achieve. am I right?
    2. As said above, I am using web dispatcher only for redirection to a fully qualified name, as portal requires as fully qualified domain name. Is there a possibility other than web dispatcher for redirection.
    3. if the above procedure works, I got a question like..what is the use of "virtual hosts".
How is it different from creating for instance, creating as many DNS aliases to IP address.
Although, it was explained at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/0b/fbf5a47928f84e8d0beba8371508e6/frameset.htm
    I didnt clearly understand it.
I would really appreciate, if you could clarify these to me.
    Thank you

  • IIS Plug-in with WLS 6.1 SP2 Connection Pool ?

    I have the following setup.
For QA, 1 IIS Server (using plug-in from 6.1 SP2) forwarding all request to a

According to the docs, the IIS plug-in is supposed to establish a connection pool
to the backend. I do not see this behavior.
    I see a connection created/close per request.
    So , I have 2 questions:
    1. Does the IIS Plug-in use connection Pooling, Do you have to enable it ?
    2. How do I control the pool size ?

  • IIS plug-in config with WLS 8.1 sp2

We are currently migrating from another app server and have run into problems configuring
the IIS plug-in. We have reviewed the e-docs and developer Web pages on how to
configure the plug-in but cannot successfully find information on how to point
a single IIS virtual host to multiple app servers and URIs on WLS. We're trying
to have one IIS ip:port point to many BEA app servers which can then point to
many URIs so that we can distribute load and code updates across several clusters.
    Example:
    ourdomain.com -> to WLServer1:8010 /app1/uri1
    /app2/uri2
    WLServer2:8011 /app3/uri3
    /app4/uri4
The problem so far has been getting the IISProxy file to point to more than one
application server (JVM Instance) running on the two WLS machines.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

You should provide some more information. Which IP are you binding to on
WLS? Are you specifying the same IP in the iisproxy.ini for the
              WebLogicHost?
Show us your configuration for the iisproxy.ini.
My best bet is that you are specifying a different IP address in the
iisproxy.ini or perhaps you are specifying a hostname that does not resolve
to the bound IP on WLS.

  • JMS Messaging Bridge Problems with WLS 8.1 sp2

Thank you in advance for your help.
I am trying to configure a JSM Messaging Bridge to connect an MQ Q to a Weblogic
              Q. I have this working wonderfully in an environment without clustering but once
I try to deploy to a cluster, I am having two major problems.
              1) When the managed servers are restarted, the messaging bridges immediately complain
about not being able to find the resource adaptor. After I manually un-target
the messaging bridge from the cluster and re-target them, they find the resource
adaptor but cannot connect to the source... which leads to my next problem.
              2) The messaging bridges cannot connect to the source destination whether it is
an MQ Q or a Weblogic JMS Q does not matter. Here are the log entries that I

Is there anyway to get more information about the NullPointerException or the
              error being encountered?

Given that you have ruled out message backlogs, my first suspicion is that the leak has something to do with connection allocation. Does JMS stats reveal an application generated connection leak? Check to see if the current number of connections/sessions stays steady.
If this doesn't help, you can use a third party tool like OptimizeIt to get periodic snap-shots of memory usage and identify the leaked object (or create a reproducer and have customer support do it). A possible work-around is to modify your app to pool JMS connections/sessions for re-use - greatly reducing the number of connections created per day.

  • Sun Identity Server 6.1 with Weblogic 8.1 sp2

    Hi,
I've installed the IS 6.1 with WLS 8.1 sp2 and the agent 2.1.1 and followed the agent configuration guide to configure the xml files (web.xml and weblogic.xml) and agent authenticator.
When I login to the restricted resource, the browser is redirected to the IS server login page. After login, the browser is redirected back to the resource with 403 forbidden.
Is there any step missing? Should I additional add some policy in the IS console? .....
    Clive

I have just installed Sun Identity Server 6.2 with WebLogic 8.1 SP3 and am experiencing the same results. Have you resolved this issue in your environment? We are evaluating Portal Server running on a BEA WLS Container and thus do not have Sun Support on the Identity Server Component of this configuration.

  • Java ftp server which can use LDAP, how to integrate with WLS' implementation of LDAP?

    Howdy.
I'm setting up a java ftp server
(http://www.mycgiserver.com/~ranab/ftp/index.html) which is capable of using
LDAP for it's user security. I would like to integrate this ftp server with
wls' implementation of LDAP so I only have to admin one user list.
Does wls put it's user list in the LDAP or in it's own proprietary setup? I
tried playing around with it, but the users don't seem to appear in the JNDI
tree. Is this where the LDAP stuff is located? I thought it was in there?
If it's in it's own setup, is there a way to propagate the users to LDAP?
If these look like newbie Q&A, I guess they kind of are, I'm new to LDAP.
Thanks for any input you might have.

    Peter,
If you are talking about using the embedded LDAP server in WLS 7.0 for this purpose
I think you are going done the wrong path.
Look at the following URL on how to use an external LDAP server for your custom
    application

  • Integrating portal/identity server with netegrity siteminder?

Has anyone integrated identity server/portal server with Netegrity Siteminder for single sign on?
Both products seem to support SAML and the Liberty Alliance project. Can a new auth module in the identity server just exchange the appropriate messages to create a single sign on token in netegrity and then validate the token on each request?

We are running Identity Server 6.1 on Solaris.
    The logs are in /var/opt/SUNWam/debug/
The most useful one is amAuth. You might also want to look at amAuthInternal, amSession, amAuthLDAP, and amAuthContext.
If you are seeing these, checkout AMConfig.properties (in /opt/SUNWam/lib). It should have the log level set to warning or message for you to get all these logs. Here's the setting from my AMConfig.properties:
com.iplanet.services.debug.level=warningPS Sorry for the unix paths, but hopefully they map closely to the windows directories.

  • WLS 8.1 SP2

Is it possible to download just the servicepack, like you could do back withWLS
6.1? Or do you have to download the whole server?

    WLS 8.1 SP2 supports JDK 1.4.1_02
