Portal tab as a input to WD aplication

Hi Experts,
I am developing an application in NWDS 7.11, this application will be integrated to EP. This application will be used under three different portal tabs (Ex: US, India, UK), this single webdynpro application should display the data based on the tab selection. Say for example if i select US, application should be able to fetch US related data.
Here my  question is, how i will get the selected portal tab in the webdynpro application.
Note: Selected tab will be the input for my application
Please help me out.
Regards
Suresh Kumar

Hi
If I got it right then All tabs are there in webdynpro and it will integrate to EP?
or
Portal top level navigation act as  a tab for webdynpro?
Both are  possible easy one is first option second will have Object level navigation.
For data fetching we have to call services at tab level.

  • Portal:  Tab displayed but not assigned to any roles of user

    HI Experts,
I have a problem need your great help.
When I logon portal as a specific user, there are 5 tab in home page. When I check the role list, 3 tabs doesn't assigned to any roles this user owned.
Then I try to copy current user into a new user, and logon in . There are only 2 tabs left, which belonged to assigned role.
How those 3 tab assigned into this user? Can we assign iView/Page/Workset directly to user without  role?
Any suggestion appreciate. Thanks so  much!

    Jalyn Liang ,
You can find if the user id belong to a particular group with the following ways,
Log in as an admin and go to User Admin -> Users- > Seach -> Enter the user Id and serach for the user -> Select the 5th icon with the  tool tip ->Assigned Groups"
    or
User Admin -> Group -> Search for the group.
    or
You can use UME API to find out whether the is belowng to a group though coding.

The tab is itself a Role .
    Please suggest.

  • Change color of portal tab strip

    Hi.
In EP versión nw04s sp 16 there is a bug in the theme editor, is not posible to modify the tab color in the standard portal tabstrip.
The note 1150293 said that it should modify some css files, i do it but the tabs of standard tabstrip control do not change color...
I have clear the portal cacher, open a new browser window, restart java server...
    any idea?
    thanks...

Thanks Aditya... but i made the modifications in this manner... i have copied the css files in other directory, edit it, and, then, i put it manually in the corresponding directory...
When, after that, i open the css files, it has the modifications than i made... but the standar tabstrip control remains with the same colors.
    Any other idea?
Thank you very much and regards

  • Portal tab security

I have a page with item level security enabled for the page.
I have added 5 tabs on one of the sections, and have set security for each of the tabs.
On one of the tabs I limited the access to 1 group, however anyone that has access to the page group can see that tab. Is there an overriding security for tabs somewhere I do not know about?
    Thanks,
    Peter

First, check the access for the PAGE GROUP properties since any access granted there will override specific access to a tab on a page in that page group. I've set up all the page groups in our portal to not have any access granted to any groups at the PAGE GROUP level but set it on the Root page of that page group (then sub pages can either inherit that access or I can specify different access at the page, tab, or even item level.)

  • PORTAL TABS DISPLAYING INCORRECT INFORMATION

    Good morning
One of my colleagues playes around with some custom settings in
the portal environment. My Content Area details now appears
under the Applications tab and I cannot find my applications!
The only way I can get to my applications is by selecting it on
the home page and navigating to it. Could someone please tell
me what my colleague did wrong in order that I can rectify it.
    Thanks

The Navigator page is just a portal page. The Pages, Content
Areas, Applications, and Database tabs contain portlets that
    display the respective information.
Just edit the page and select the correct portlet from the
Portlet Repository. I don't know how your Portlet Repository
has been organized, but if you have trouble finding these
portlets just display the Portlet Repository (from the default
Portal home page, under the Administer tab) and search
    for "Navigator".

  • Portal tabs are duplicated

    Hi,
I have got most of the roles for portal access and administration, the strange thing I found is when I first login I see all tabs are aligned and unique, when I click on any one of the tab (e.g. Content Administration) I start seeing duplicates (i.e doubling) of most of the tabs.  Why is this happening and how do I fix it?
    Thanks
    Praveen

    Hi Praveen, Anja, Sandeep,
My requirement is when ever I assign the merge ID to all sub-roles under parnet role then I am getting single role name and all iViews i Detail Navigation panel.
So I need the Parent Role in TLN and under that -All Sub Roles in Lower level-navigation panel. When I uncheck "can be merge' property I am getting all roles from Parent but if user has duplicate roles then I am getting same sub-role tab in Top LEvel Navigation, that I don't want.
So in brief my requirement is:
whenever user ID has X role as separate role and also having A_ROLE role with X role as child node then on portal there should not be two role tab available for the user.

  • Attribute Level Security on Portal Tabs

We are using a set of tabs on a single portal page. We need the ability to
display each tab based upon either an attribute or a PL/SQL result set.
Currently the only options for tab level security are person and Group. This
    does not meet our needs.
For Example, we have two tabs on the page (employee and manager). Everyone is
an employee and only some are managers. We want only the managers to view the
content on the manager tab. The only option we have is to create a manager
group which will not work due to performance reasons (over 20,000 managers
identified). We cannot manage this in groups.
We need to know how to display the tabs by either a person level attribute or
    SQL query.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Hi,
ADF Security and ADF Business Component security both provide this functionality. Both use JAAS permissions for authorization that can be assigned to user roles. You find information in the developer guide

  • Dynamic Display/Hide/Disable/Enable Portal Tabs..

We have a Portal Page Group with multiple TABS. We like to be able to display/hide (or enable/disable) tabs based on the Portal Roles assigned to the current user.
Is it possible to Hide/Display tabs dynamically based on certain conditions? What is the best way to enforce this without creating multiple page groups?
    Thanks

Tabs can have access privileges assigned, so out-of-the-box tab security would work. Was there some other condition you need to address?

  • Portal Tabs - Dynamic Hide/Display

    Hello:
We have a Portal Page Group with multiple TABS. We like to be able to display/hide (or enable/disable) tabs based on the Portal Roles assigned to the current user.
Is it possible to Hide/Display tabs dynamically based on certain conditions? What is the best way to enforce this without creating multiple page groups?
    Thanks

The only way I know to conditionally hide/show tabs is to grant access on each tab to one or more groups. The tab will then only be displayed on the page to logged-in user that is a member of a designated group for that tab. (Portal admins will be able to see all the tabs.) If there's another way to hide/show tabs based on other criteria - I'd like to know too! :-)

  • Web Interfaces Running Through Portal - Tab Spacing

When a web interface is created in BPS_WB and run through BPS_WIF0, tabs and spacing are correct.  When the web interface runs through the portal, the spacing on the tabs is off.  Tab 1 is perfect, Tab 2 has one blank line /space before the functions / layouts, Tab 3 has 3 blank lines.  How do I resolve this?  Is it a template issue on the portal versus BPS_WIF0?  I have tried playing with the spacing to no avail.
    Thanks

    Hi Cherie,
do you have an answer on that in the meantime?
I am new to the WAD and experience the same problem.

  • Portal Tab Pages

    Hi,
Is there a way to programatically enable and disable tab pages other than via someone's role? If so, how?
    Thanks.

there are a couple of ways...
this is probably the most straight forward
portal supports the ability to have different skin or skeleton files to be used based off of locale. The images or JSPs reside in different directories. Each directory is name of the best match locale.
    so you can have
    skins/classic/ja/images - for japanese
    skins/classic/fr/imagse - for french
you can do this for images, css and JSPs as you may actually whant to change the way text is displayed for each locale.
BTW - to change the actual text to being displayed you should be using a desktop and add localization resources to each page in the admin tools.
Also, by default the localProvider pulls the users prefered locales from the http request as set in the browser. If you want you can have that information come from anywhere (like a drop down list box) by writting you ownr LocalProvider

  • Customizing Portal tabs and pages

    hi,
I am trying to customize the portal for BI. We would like to remove completely the stanard functionality and put only two tabs one Home and another tab "BI". So, i created two pages by name "Home" and "BI". and also i created a workset and kept these two pages in the workset and attached this workset to the role and attached the role to the test user ABC.
After i have done this, i logged in as test user ABC. Nothing is visible. Do i need to do some settings in permissions or any where else so that the test user can see only two tabs like Home and BI and under Home , he would like to see "Home" Page and under BI "BI" page.
    Please advise.
    Thanks in advance....

    Dorson,
you need to assign end user role to the user to make Home role visible for that user.
coming to custom role did you set the entry point of role to yes
    Thanks

  • Portal tab disappear

    Hi,
My company is running Netweaver 2004s SP11 portal. Some users are reporting that they do not see any tab when they logon to our portal. If the user clears browser cache and logon again, the tabs that the user should see will appear again. Obviously, this is caused by navigation caching setup. Any help on this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks,

Generally a role consists of multiple worksets, pages and iViews. Every user is assigned to a specific role. If user is assigned EC role, they will see some tabs. Similarly, a user is assigned to System admin role, then, they will see System administrator related tabs. I hope basis, portal developer or security people have assigned a role to every user within that company.
    Good luck.
