Portal Tab Pages

Hi,
Is there a way to programatically enable and disable tab pages other than via someone's role? If so, how?

there are a couple of ways...
this is probably the most straight forward
portal supports the ability to have different skin or skeleton files to be used based off of locale. The images or JSPs reside in different directories. Each directory is name of the best match locale.
so you can have
skins/classic/ja/images - for japanese
skins/classic/fr/imagse - for french
you can do this for images, css and JSPs as you may actually whant to change the way text is displayed for each locale.
BTW - to change the actual text to being displayed you should be using a desktop and add localization resources to each page in the admin tools.
Also, by default the localProvider pulls the users prefered locales from the http request as set in the browser. If you want you can have that information come from anywhere (like a drop down list box) by writting you ownr LocalProvider

Creation of additional drop downs in 'Item overview' tab page on portal

Hi,
I would like to know how do we add additional fields/drop downs on the xRPM portal in the 'Item Overview' tab page.
For eg:
We are having TECHNOLOGY TYPE field at Item overview tab page in xRPM portal - Portfolio Management view. Wherein we can have different dropdown values for selection.
Question 1 -> Can we have similar dropdown created on the same page? If yes, how?
Question 2 -> If we want to create more than one such dropdowns with their own defined dropdown values, can we maintain the dependency between them ?

I went through the document on the mentioned by you.
But my requirement is a bit diiferent.
I want to have 3 different drop downs with a numeric field attached to them.The sum of these numeric fields should always be 100 (two values are manually selected but the third value should be calculated automatically based on the previously selected values).
Example,
I select 10 as a value for Drop down 1, 40 for drop down2 then for the drop down3 the value should populate automatically as 50 (100 - (10+40)).i.e. the sum being 100.
Can you or any one please help me with this.
Also I am not sure how do we give multiple options for selection (like 10,20,..50 etc upto 100) for a drop down.

How to create 'Tab page' portal?

Hi,
The 'Portal' configuration page provides 3 types 'Dashboard', 'Standalone Portal' and 'Tab Page Portal'. According to help document, to add new 'Tab Page', needs to ask customer support. Does anyone know how to use 'Tab Page Portal'?

Tab Page Portal - Link Base Page

Hi,
I have a requirement where I have to attach a tab portal to the base account page. I am having trouble linking it to the base page. Could you please tell me the steps to be followed for linking the tab portal to the account page.

Can any one explain me the steps to create new Tab Page Portal ?

Portal forms connecting to each other in tabbed page

Well, here's a challenge...for me anyway.
If the forms are created and they are published as portlets and in the tabbed page, is there a way to get
the user to fill out 1 form and be passed automatically to the next?
I haven't done this before, but am aware of the parameter concept a tad. The page the forms go to can accept parameters and the forms have a common field on each of them > but what is the next step?
-does this code work better as javascript or pl/sql?
-where exactly does the parameter passing event occur/get written?
hope these basic questions are easy for someone....

Tabs on portal home page

I am trying to put 5 portal pages on the portal home page. However, the portal
only allows me to put 3. Is there a fix for this?

available and visible for the group you're testing for. You can use the

By default Tabs are used inside an iView and not to "tab" between iViews on a page...
The most straightforward solution would be creating a custom PageLayout that you can assign to your page.
I would sugest to implement this custom PageLayout with DIV layers and trigger "tabbing" via JavaScript eventing.

Problem in displaying portal login page

Hi
I made 3 diffirent installation and I still have the same problem :
1. AS 10g R2 on windows 2003 SP1
2. AS 10g R2 on Windows XP SP2
3. AS 10g (9.0.4) on Windows XP SP2
All of the services of infrastructure and Middle tier are working properly , no error massages , even from IE , but always when I'm accessing the portal
by http://<host>:<port>/pls/portal , I can see only the tab that contains 'welcome' but nothing else , just white page , I tried to access it from remote client also its still the same
(note : http://<host>:<port>/discoverer/plus is displaying properly)
any body have an idea ?

If all the services pertaining to AS Portal are started then navigate to the page where all the components are listed.From there select Portal and try accessing the Portal home page. Some times the direct access to the portal as mentioned by you will not work.

How to point to Portal tabs?

Hi,
There is one special requirement from the User.The User want us to create a Page in the Portal That page should be containing two Links.One Link should point to an external web page and the other one should point to the existing tab in the Portal.The first requirement can be fulfilled easily by creating a KM Document iview and adding the URL to the KM page but I am not able to find out the solution how we can point to a tab itself in the Portal through a link? The tab is itself a Role .
Please suggest.

The dynamic page is a portal application component. Pages in a Tabbed Page

Can somebody point me in the right direction. The functionality I am trying to achieve is by linking a number of pages to my tabbed page and subject to the user logging on will only be able to see their relevant page.
The page is to be displayed directly in the current page area.

Answered my own question with the following PL/SQL item:

PORTAL TABS DISPLAYING INCORRECT INFORMATION

Good morning
One of my colleagues playes around with some custom settings in
the portal environment. My Content Area details now appears
under the Applications tab and I cannot find my applications!
The only way I can get to my applications is by selecting it on
the home page and navigating to it. Could someone please tell
me what my colleague did wrong in order that I can rectify it.

The Navigator page is just a portal page. The Pages, Content
Areas, Applications, and Database tabs contain portlets that
display the respective information.
Just edit the page and select the correct portlet from the
Portlet Repository. I don't know how your Portlet Repository
has been organized, but if you have trouble finding these
portlets just display the Portlet Repository (from the default
Portal home page, under the Administer tab) and search
for "Navigator".

Tabs Disappear when "Next" on a Report (shown as Portlet) on a tab page is displayed

Posting Again for attention - Please let me know if this is not the right forum for it.
I am working with the new Portal 3.0.8 version on NT.
I have a Page with tabs and on one of the tab-page is a report (displayed as a portlet) that has a "Next" button at the bottom to show the other rows of the report. In the earlier version (3.0.7), when we clicked on this Next, we would get some JSP errors (discussed in the thread http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum81/HTML/000048.html )- this is fixed(?) in the new version (3.0.8).
But - now when I click on the "Next" button, the entire tab region is replaced by the next set of rows of the report and the tabs disappear. The only way to get access to the tabs now is to hit the Back button of the browser.
Has anybody else experienced this or is it me doing something wrong here ... would appreciate any/all response.

Are you sure? I still have that problem, and in their reply to
my TAR Oracle filed a bug 1842058. Other similar bug numbers
are: 1667269, 1799810, and 1747842.
Their last comment was:
"The bugs associated with this issue have been marked as fixed
in then next version of Portal (9.x). This also obliviates the
role of Support. If you would like to have this functionality in
your version of Portal, then Oracle Support will require the
following from you:
1) A new TAR with the request to backport the functionality.
2) A business justification for the backport request."
