Portal User Export without Roles!

Hi,
On NW04 EP6 SP18. When I run a user export no role information is exported I assume it should be...anyone seen this issue in this version and know how to fix it?

Hi There,
The answer to your question is, if user is not present in ECC then ESS iViews will not work in Portal.
How it works is,
The PERNER number is associated with every user ID which is present in ECC. The same user ID should be present in Portal.
1. Lets suppose you have xyz user ID present in Portal.
2. Create the same user ID in ECC which is xyz.
3. Assign a PERNER no for example 123 to the user ID xyz.
Once you have this set up, then all the ESS webdynpro Java applications will work fine.

hi,
user id and password requet coming from the portal only.
I have two anonymous users.(user1 is Mr.guest and user2 is Mr.user2)
But when i give http://xxxx:50100/irj/portal/anonymous, it always takes me to guest only and in the ivew it asks for username and password.
But my role is assinged to user2.
how can i acces anonymous user2 portal?
why is it asking for user4 name and password....
please help....

Portal user issue - all users are viewing data of one particluar user...

we are implementing ess 1.0 on EP7.0 and using ecc6.0
Now, while creating Jco connection we had provided user id/pwd of a user in portal and assigned that user to an employee in backend r3 (say abc).(we followed the famous pdf available on sdn: Configuring the Business Package for Employee Self-Service (ESS) u2013 mySAP ERP 2004 by an HCL employee)
Now the Problem is:
whenever an xyz user logs in to portal with ess role, and views any data...say perosnal information, telephone no., address, etc than that xyz user sees all this data of the employee(abc) to whom we had mapped our user which was used while creating Jco connections.
infact if xyz tries to edit any data than it gets reflected to abc.
to genralise: any portal user with ess role logs in to portal is viewing/editing data of abc employee...which normally should not be the case.
plz try and help me resolve this issue...

Hi!
You have to configre your JCo Destionations to use Portal SSO.
Additionally in your HR Backend you have to maintain (I think it is) Info type 0105 (sub-type 001) and assign every personal number the appropriate UserID so that every user sees his own data.
A technical user is only needed for the JCo destinations dealing with metadata. The "real" JCo destinations performing RFC calls to the HR Backend can be configured to use Portal SSO.

Hi Israel,
It is possible to have same user logged in through differnt terminals or browser windows. However if there are say 10 roles assigned to that user, all 10 will be visible in all the windows. However you may open and work on different roles.. in the different windows.
Note that the real time collaboration features shall not be available if the same user logs in multiple times.

If you look in to User.txt
I have role also i have deleted role in User.txt uploded file with rest of the otherdata including group it it able to create users.
so in Nut shell let's say
1. UID-Murali
Role- Manager
Group- HRGroup
user existing in DEV and i want to trnasfer data to PRD
Role:Manger should exist in PRD, and group is not mandatory optional

says while uploading users role is optional it throws waring but i got error.
i am bit confused.
Now let's sau there are 10 users, 10 roles and 2 groups in source system if i want to export all users,roles,groups to target system what sequnce i have to follow without getting any error , warining is there any restriction on number of users, roles, groups i know file size should be less than 1MB.
Points are on the way.

Hi,
SAP User Administration is the standard way to export and import users in the portal. Using the export functionality, all the user information will get exported, including the roles and groups assigned:

If you only want to export the user data without the roles and groups, you'll have to delete these lines.

EP 6.0 User Export Parameter com.sapportals.portal.navigation:uipmode=2

When exporting users from EP 6.0 under "User Administration > Export/Import" , I have noticed that the following parameter is being generated in the text file :
com.sapportals.portal.navigation:uipmode=2
I've not been able to find any documentation to what this parameter actually is.
This only occurs on some users not all users.
Sometimes the value is =1 and =0.
This is a sample text file generated :

Hi there
The import works without problems.
However, we have Global Work Protect switched on so that it prompts for you to "save" data or "discard" it.
The "personalize" option to set "work protect" has been disabled so that users cannot set their own own Work Protect Feature.
It seems that users that were created with uipmode=2, have a personalized Work Protect which over writes the default global settings and does not prompt you to save data.
When I switched the "personalize" work protect feature back on, this did seem to be the case to check for those users.
I'm looking for some proper documentation to confirm my findings.
Any assistance appreciated.

Portal user and role creation

How do we add (bulk add) users and roles to Portal 6.0 without the management console ?

Did anyone have an answer to this? I've used tools with other directories that permitted a bulk add or a flat file dirsync that allowed a CSV file to add accounts. I would be interested if someone has done this for portal 6.2 or 6.X.

Report on portal User ID and Assign Roles for all portal users

I would like to know , is there way that we can get a report which shows all the portal user ids with there assign portal roles. If we can't get this from portal. Can we get it from Oracle database ?
What are the oracle tables and fields which store this information?
If nay one have a custom develop iview for this please let me know

Hi Ramesh,
as Pascal stated (and as I did above), if developing within the portal is not really new for you, playing around with the UME API is really more or less trivial.
Check Portal User and Role info as well as User to Role listing for similar requests and code hints / further links.

Export without Title Role

What I am wanting to do is export without Text a clean Timeline. What would be the suggested route to take? Have tried turning of the Title Role and Exporting and found the text is still there. Why? Suggestions Please or even better Answers.

what do you mean by "role."
Look at the names of the title "clips." If they're all the same, simply do a find for the name in the sequence with find all. They will all be selected and hit control-b to disable them all.
When I finish a project, I find it useful to clean up the timeline and move all titles to a higher video track(s) so it's easy to turn this track's visibility off.

Changing the sequence of roles/groups for Portal users after Login

We are at EP 7.0 SP11.
We have developed custom role for ESS, MSS, EIC and Reports etc.
Now when all the 3 roles are assigned to any user, the sequence of the display is generally
Employee Self Service, Manager Self Service and then EIC.
We need to change this sequence in Dev QA and production environment for some users preferably (or for all portal users), so that the 1st page which loads in portal after user logs in , is not necessary ESS.
The requirement can also be considered as, we need to change the default page which displays after user logs in.
Does someone have any idea how can we achieve this ?

I need to display the roles, worksets, pages and iviews that are assigned to a particular portal user using WebDynpro.
I tried to search in SDN and found a few blogs on this... but all are for DynPages. I could not find any inputs on how to achieve this in Webdynpro.

List of Portal users with the assigned Roles.....

Hello All,
I am working on EP6 SP9 and want to know from where can I get a list of all Portal users along with the assigned roles for each of them.
One way I found is by searching for all users in User Administration role and along with the searched users, there is also an icon for Assigned roles.
Apart from the above mentioned way, is there any other way by which I can get a direct list of the same. Is there a Java sample code for this.....?

This code gives you the list of all the users of your portal along with the roles assigned to them.
Apart from this if you want you want to know all the roles assigned to the user on portal itself then the way you mentioned is the correct method.
