Portal Users hits count on the homepage

Hi all,
I want to put hits count (total number of visitors) on my portal homepage, just like any other website. Don't have any idea how to do it. Can anyone guide me on this. Waiting for some quick response.
Thanks in advance,
Ganpati Jha

hey ganpati .
open your portal, login into  it.
step1: go to tab into the top level navigation bar  System administrator --> support --> portal runtime --> browse deployment (in Test and Configuration Tools admin tools) --> download com.sap.portal.masthead.bak
step 2:now rename that com.sap.portal.masthead.bak to com.sap.portal.masthead.par
step3:
now import that par file in netweaver developer studio and make the necessary changes like putting a variable to get incremented each time mast head is loaded. this way u can keep track of the number of hits.
step4:  include .jar files of the downloaded par file to the
for any clarification please ping again.
reward if found useful.
thx and regards.

  • KM File Unique user hit count

    Hi All,
    Is there a way to know the hit count for a KM file (Unique user hit count). As KM maintains read and unread flag for each user.

    Hello, yes, you could activate KM Activity Report, go to
    System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > Global Services > Activity Reporting Service (advanced option)
    restarting is necessary, a .txt file will be created every day on the server at
    /usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE ID>/j2ee/cluster/server0/<activiy report folder default/custom name>
    which can then be analyzed with excel, normal filters/subtotal function or
    if you prefer use a BI tool
    on the beggining the "Main File Format" is a string quite confusing, please refer
    to the following document for more in depth configurations

  • I accidentally moved my hit counter below the page, i cant get it back

    i dragged the hit counter down, and a song down below the page and now i cant scroll down to move it back. I need my hit counter back, and i need my annoying song gone. please help!

    How about making a new text box, filling it with a little typing garbage. Then with this text box selected, move it down and down until your missing items are visible.
    Before deleting them from their current positions, move them up high enough to get above the lowest point on your page before moving this text box down. Once up in the normal page area, then you can delete them and/or move to a normal spot. Once you delete your garbage text box, your footer margins will move back up to their higher location.

  • How come the form in the JSP page does not work if user hits "ENTER"

    When I use the following code for loginpage.jsp
    If the user hits ENTER on the keyboard it just displays the same form with nothing in the username box.
    It works if the user clicks the button.
    <HTML>
    <BODY>
    <%
    String submit = request.getParameter("submit");
    if(submit == null){
    %>
    <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION=loginpage.jsp>
    Please enter your username: <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME=username SIZE=20>
    <INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT NAME=submit VALUE='Go!'>
    </FORM>
    <%
    else {
    String user = request.getParameter("username");
    if(user == null) {
    // display same page
    } else {
    // foward to next page
    %>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    I adjusted my code but it still does nto work when hitting the ENTER keyboard button.
    <HTML>
    <BODY onload="document.form1.left.focus();">
    <%
    String submit = request.getParameter("submit");
    if(submit == null){
    %>
    <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION=loginpage.jsp>
    Please enter your username: <INPUT TYPE=TEXT NAME=username SIZE=20>
    <INPUT TYPE="button" name="left" value="LEFT" onlick="alert(this.name)">
    <INPUT TYPE="button" NAME="right" VALUE="RIGHT" onclick="alert(this.name)">
    </FORM>
    <%
    else {
    String user = request.getParameter("username");
    if(user == null) {
    // display same page
    } else {
    // foward to next page
    %>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    If I do this
    <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION=nextpage.jsp>
    And use ENTER keyboard button it works, but not when I have ACTION to teh same page.
    Why is that?
    Is this JSP related or HTML? I thought JSP had something to do with it since it's JSP file.

  • Common Services portal does not appear on the LMS 3.0 homepage

    Hi,
    I am encountering a problem on Ciscoworks LMS 3.0 wherein the Common Services portal does not appear on the homepage. This was after I tried to upgrade CW to LMS 3.2 but does not seem to work so I revert back to LMS 3.0. I even did a restore of the backup database but still no Common Services on the homepage.
    How do i resolve this?
    Appreaciate your help. Thanks in advance!

    If you're not seeing the Common Services application portlet on the Functional Portal View, then you need to open a TAC service request to get the steps to manually re-register all of the installed applications from the command line.

  • The hit counter button does not show up after publishing page.

    I insert the hit counter button to a new blog post and when I publish, the button does not show up.
    I would really like to use the counter as this is a blog for a class I am teaching, and I would like to track
    student viewing.
    Also, sometimes the colors do not publish properly, specifically with links/rollover feature.
    Help!
    And thanks in advance for all you who know wayyy more than I do!  I hope to return
    the favor someday.

    First, thanks for the quick response Roddy.
    Once I posted the question, similar topics came up and what
    I did was remove the hit counter, publish the page without the hit counter.
    Then inserted the hit counter again and wah-lah!
    Thanks for your reply, this information is correct and helpful as well.
    Very appreciative!

  • Improper Spacing on the Hit Counter

    On this page on my website, the hit counter (at the bottom of the page) is not where it should be; in iWeb, it's about 40 pixels below where the horizontal rule (line) is. But when Safari renders the page, the hit counter ends up waaaay down below, about 300 pixels further than it should be.
    Could iWeb be giving the object an 'absolute' position, and the text size screws up how far down the page the text goes? I can't quite figure it out...
    In Firefox, the hit counter renders above the horizontal line. Is there any way I can put the hit counter inline with the text? (I'd rather not have to manually code the html each time I want to make a small change to the web page, and re-publish it...).

    Here's an easy fix...
    Open up iWeb to this page in question. Open up the Inspector panel, click on the Page tab. What you need to do is to adjust the values for Content Height and Footer. It's easier if you also go to the View menu and select "Show Layout" so that you can see exactly where the boundary of the content and footer are. Adjust the Content Height so that it actually fits your content. I think for your page, the default values are waaaay too short. Keep adjusting the value up until you see the bounding line of the layout actually start to move beyond your content. This threshold is the correct value for Content Height.
    As for the footer....is your counter part of the body content or is it part of the footer??? One option is to make it part of the footer if you like by Apple-dragging it into the footer (you will see the footer borders highlight on the drag). Then adjust the footer size so that it just fits the amount of vertical height you need to encompass the counter. The other option is to leave your counter as part of the body content...adjust the Content Height appropriately. Then adjust the footer to zero. Republish. Problem should be solved with none of the variability between browsers, too.
    If you find this information useful, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • Hit counter not showing up..

    I have the latest safari and snow leopard and iworks. Until recently a hit counter (on a webpage generated in iWeb) showed up fine. It continues to show up when I use Firefox (or on my iphone). Doesn't show up on my computer (either my main user or on a clean test account I have). I have tried the following: empty caches, empty history, remove cookies, log out of main account and log in to test account, and reinstall Safari. Don't know what else to try. Webpage in question is: web.mac.com/gemarcus/
    Nothing has solved the problem.. So, suggestions?

    Hi George,
    Best way is to run a Hit Counter in the background of the website.
    NO, sorry I don't know the answer to your problem.
    Sorry, I'm no help to you ...
    Considering running the Hit Counter in the background, if you only like to know how many visitors you website has.
    When it is for other purpose "just to looks good" than you can set the counter to a amount of HITS in front like "11.372 hits" or any other amount of hits, this looks better than starting with 1 hit.

  • Simple tip: fading hit counter

    Although I wanted hit counters on some of my iWeb pages, I didn't want them to be so . . . blah, so bold, so obvious. Two wee little tips:
    1. To have a hit counter on the page but invisible to guests, simply place a shape object on top of it, matched to the color of the background. It'll be there but nobody will be able to see it.
    2. To have your hit counter appear faded or dim, place a shape object on top of it, matched to the color of the background, and set the shape object's translucency to <100% to achieve the desired effect.
    Now nobody can say I never contributed anything to the forum.

    That's a good trick. Thanks for the tip. When you get tired of hiding the Apple counter, you should take a look at Statcounter.com. You can configure this counter to blend in or complement the colors of your page, change the font or the number of digits, and change the size. You can even make the StatCounter counter completely invisible but functional. And you can set it to not count your own visits to your website. Best of all, all of your counters can be tracked easily via a StatCounter Dashboard widget! No more checking the .Mac Homepage just for your hits...just hit F12.

  • How do I add a hit counter to my Gallery?

    So much I can't find instructions for on this board, in FAQ or in iWeb or iPhoto help.
    Anyone know how to add a hit counter to the gallery used when iPhoto publishes pictures?

    I still have not been able to add a hit counter to my gallery. I have no problem adding them to iWeb pages so it is frustrating that it's not as easy.

  • Synchronize portal users with R/3 automatically

    I am trying to find out more about how the portal will automatically create an user and assign it its relavent roles once the user has been created in R/3. I understand this is possible with ECC6? i have searched but cant seem to find what i am looking for.
    Any links/advice with be much appreciated.

    Hi,
    You can use the ABAP server as the data store for portal users. So all the user ids, roles & groups in the ERP system is available in portal.
    Please check the following link & sublinks for detail info.

  • Mapping of single Portal users to multiple backend user

    Hello Experts,
    It is possible to map single portal user to the multiple R/3 user? If yes, than what is procedure to achieve it?
    I have a SAP Portal where some users have 2 user ID in ECC, but I need to in Portal the users have only one user ID and password. How can I do to these users can select between their 2 profiles in ECC? Is posible?
    Thanks!
    Regards

    Hi,
    This is not possible since  you would have used SSO to connect to the Backend. Either it is SSO or User Mapping is done, Portal User can only access the Backend with one User ID.
    If you use SSO, for Example if the Portal User is UserA then you would have the UserA in the Backend too. It will use the UserA in backend to access.  (Note: Single User can't access multiple Backend. Since we would have already maintained the Backend Connection details in the System and also in JCo Destination. So it is not possible for a User to access the Backend with two different Backends)
    If you use User Mapping, then you can decide the User which it should use. (For ESS/MSS this is not recommended and it is not feasible too).

  • Hit Counter For Web Site Now Working?

    I have a web site that was published with iWeb 06. I am using a domain name at GoDaddy and forwarding to .Mac using masking so the site shows with the domain name not the .Mac address. If you went to the site by entering the domain name the hit counter on the first page would not show. However, if you entered the .Mac address to go to the site the counter would show.
    Well the site was republished and upgraded with iWeb 08. Recently I noticed that the hit counter now shows regardless of how you go to the site. I was pleasantly surprised but when did this happen? Of course as others have noticed, on my .Mac home page on the side bar where the website pages are listed the counter numbers no longer show. So they took something away and gave something back?
    John

    I don't think Apple meant to take away the .Mac counter section of the .Mac page. I think it's a bug that they have yet to resolve. It would be interesting to see if anyone has asked Apple about this and if they gave a definitive answer?

  • Hit Counter disappeared. How can I get it back?

    I've read numerous posts re Hit Counter, but none helpful to this:
    I publish only to MobileMe and have had no problem in the past. Problem is: today I removed lots of stuff I had added to my home page during the election campaigns. To remove them, I held down the Command key and dragged through lots of the stuff to select it, then hit Delete. I did not drag through the Hit Counter, nor the Apple logo, yet both of those disappeared too. Looking at the iWeb dropdown menu for adding these items, I saw that there was still a checkmark by the Hit Counter, but not by the Apple logo. So I clicked to check the logo, and it came back on the page no problem.
    But the Hit Counter, already still checked, was nowhere to be found. I increased my footer enormously, and searched in that space... not there. Nowhere.
    Next I unchecked and then rechecked the Hit Counter item in the menu. That didn't do it.
    I hate to uncheck it and then publish, and then check it again and republish. That might work, but I'd lose my count perhaps.
    How can I get back, or simply FIND, the Hit Counter on my page? The check mark says it's there, but I can't find it anywhere, have looked under lots of things on the page... nowhere!
    Thanks, anybody who's got a clue.

    Here's the solution:
    It occurred to me to vastly increase (temporarily) the vertical size of my page. (Remember, doing this with the footer hadn't helped.) When I increased the page size to a whopping 4000, there was the counter AND the original Apple Logo. I moved them into place, then put the vertical page size back to something reasonable. The count was retained.
    Thank you, self! (Sorry this didn't occur to me before posting, but since I have seen nothing of this advice in the discussion already, perhaps this will be helpful to someone else with the same problem.)
    I'll send Apple some feedback and hope they consider adding a line or two to the iWeb Help in it's discussion of the Hit Counter, given that so many of us have encountered problems.

  • How to force logout of portal user

    Hi all,
    we're currently facing trouble with portal users being "locked" in the portal. They are not locked in the ume sense, but when trying to logon they are only able to see navigation framework, and no content. The only content we're using in the portal is MSS/ESS, so the content we're trying to load is from R/3.
    My idea is to manually log out the user in trubble from the portal.
    Now; I can see see active http_sessions using the telnet Administrator session, but I can't find a way to force logout a user. Can anyone please tell me how to?
    We're using Portal SP11, and ESS/MSS SP7.
    I'm thankful for all input! Points will be handed out of course.
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

    hi,
       Try this code.This might help you.
    IPortalComponentRequest request=(IPortalComponentRequest) this.getRequest();
              IAuthentication Authen = UMFactory.getAuthenticator();
    HttpServletRequest req = request.getServletRequest();
    HttpServletResponse res = request.getServletResponse(true);
    //logoff user from Portal
    Authen.forceLogoffUser(req, res,"");
    The third argument is a string which is the redirection URL.
