Portal within Frame

Hi,
  We have a requirement that portal should be accessed within the frameset. But when we access the portal within frameset we are getting javascript error after logging in to the portal and unable to see the detailed Navigation screen.Is there anything to do with portal configuration??
Regards
Vasudevan Gopalan

Hi Vasudevan,
the portal won't work within a frameset for a simple reason: Different central JavaScript methods are declared within the outest "frame" (the portal only uses iFrames itself) and are called via the "top" reference from inner (i)Frames. So if the portal itself is called within a frameset, it tries to access the "top" frame and calls certain JS methods in this outest frame - which in fact are not to be found there.
Anyway, I'm really sceptical how much sense it should make to run the portal as a part of a page, where one normally has the need for <i>more space</i> for the portal itself (instead of less).
Hope it helps
Detlev

  • Integrate SAP Portal within another intranet

    We need to integrate SAP Portal within another intranet portal. The question is if technically, it's possible integrate SAP portal to display within a frame that is not the top frame of the window.
    I had this same problem on another project and was not possible because the SAP portal needs to take the entire window (the reason is how it is implemented).
    Could anybody confirm it?

    You can integrate the SAP Portal in another portal. To do so, integrate it by an iFrame.
    To not show the whole SAP Portal navigation in the target portal, go through these links:

    Your servlet (or JSP) can't decide where it is going to be displayed. The browser has already decided that when it makes the request to your servlet.

  • Changing text within frames without adding space at bottom

    Anyone know if there's a method for changing text within frames so that the successive text automatically flows into position without creating blank space at bottom of that current or a subsequent frame?

    Peter,
    You can combine the discussions if you want.  I actually deleted a sentence beginning the second discussion explaining that it was related to the first.  I thought it might impede the discussion.
    Let me describe my problem more completely.  I'm adjusting a book that was carefully crafted using frames for each page so that the text extended to the bottom of each page (frame).  This often splits text within a paragraph between two pages.  This was done so that the customer doesn't feel they are purchasing any blank space and for the aesthetic purpose of filling each page with text.  The only exception is the beginning of new chapters or sections.
    The problem is that I want to change a word here and there in preexisting paragraphs.  When I do, space often one-third the page length is generated at the bottom of a page (frame).  To fill that space and extend text to the bottom of the page again requires -given my current understanding of options- selecting the paragraph (beginning on one page and completed on the second) that has become interrupted by the blank space and performing a "keep lines together" option.  Unfortunately, this usually generates new blank space on a subsequent page, requiring a new "keep lines together"; in a seemingly unending regress of this procedure.
    What I require is a method enabling me to add text within a paragraph that will avoid the generation of the blank space by flowing the subsequent text (composing one or more paragraphs and splitting a paragraph between pages if required) to the end of the page; completely filling the page without requiring any use of "keep options" or whatever.

  • Scrolling within frames in Safari on the iPad

    Scrolling in frames, using browser base on-line e-mail, Safari web browser, composing in a text window or box.
    I've notice when at my yahoo e-mail account that I can't scroll in a frame like I could on a regular computer. I know there is the Mail app, but I want to use a browser. And I don't have external application permission for all of my on-line e-mail accounts. And as I cut cost at home, pay for e-mail service days are numbered.
    Without the ability to scroll, parts of messages are hidden. As well as item list are cut off, as when looking at my "inbox" the message list is truncated. And you can't just simply swipe your finger and bring up those hidden msgs or lines of text.
    Even while writing in this box, I cannot scroll to see text as it disappears to the out side of it. Luckily I have the compatible keyboard and the arrow-keys will allow me to see the completed message.
    On the side, I think Safari is doing a great job. Maybe on the first visit will a site route me to their mobile page. But Safari can handle most pages. Even on my laptop I still need to use Firefox to allow me to see certain, of all places, US government pages!
    Don't think adobe flash is supported though. So some work still needs to be done if this is going to replace my laptop. I really thought these issues should have been address by the time I got this. I just hope these issues are addressed. Otherwise this thing is just a fancy toy for only the lightest of work.
    Cheers,
    Lincoln

    Hey thanks. That works for text boxes for sure. But I think there is still issues in Safari.
    Does that maneuver have a name yet? I was just thinking of the rock band Five finger death punch. Maybe it could be called the "two finger death drag
    About Yahoo Mail, it just kicked me over to I guess an I-pad version of it's self and is working in much the same ways as when I'm at gmail. The left colume is real big, easy to point at, and list your messages. The right column displays content and can be scrolled up and down.
    When I first got this thing, I didn't have a home network. Now that I do, I'l be using it more. I'm just hopping on some smooth sailing.

    Hello Maarit,
    Here are some answers for you.
    I have created three different portals which all need to
    authenticate
    the user. Is it possible to get those three portals to use just one
    login page, I mean that the user won't have to login more than once?
    How
    are the sessions handled in Weblogic Servers?Yes. You can navigate from portal to portal while maintaining the
    logged-in state of your user. You can do this by setting the
    "TRAFFIC.URI" request attribute equal to the URI of the portal you
    want to go to and then use the PortalJspBase.putSessionValue( ) method
    to put user and destination information into the session. Then you
    could use the PortalJspBase.setLoggedIn( ) method to set the logged-in
    status for the user in the new portal (also in the session) because
    now when you set session values with methods of PortalJspBase, they
    will be fixed up using the URI of the portal you will be going to.
    Therefore, the setLoggedIn( ) method works like it were invoked from
    the portal you will be going to. Then you could direct a request to
    the other portal.
    The PortalJspBase.putSessionValue( ) method "fixes up" the keys of
    the stored values by prepending a string that uniquely identifies the
    portal (made using the TRAFFIC.URI attribute) to avoid naming
    collisions (see javadoc at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlcs/javadoc/p13n/index.html ).
    Below is an example I got from someone who implemented such a
    solution (I have not tested it). They did not put values in the
    session for SERVICEMANAGER_SUCCESSOR or
    IMMUTABLE_SERVICE_MANAGER_HOME_PAGE, but they could have.
    Make your first JSP page extend PortalJspBase and do something
    like this (note that the constants that I have not declared come from
    interfaces that are implemented by PortalJspBase (see javadoc):
    <%! // Declaration
    public static final String MY_PORTAL_NAME = "MyPortal"; // portalname
    public static final String MY_PORTAL_URI = "/myportal"; // servlet name
    public static final String MY_PORTAL_DIR = "/myportal"; // workingdir
    %>
    <%
    // Get MyPortal
    String workingDir = MY_PORTAL_DIR;
    String thePage = getPortalManager(request)
    .getPortalFor(MY_PORTAL_NAME).getContentURL();
    // Set user and destination stuff
    request.setAttribute(TRAFFIC_URI, MY_PORTAL_URI);
    putSessionValue( SERVICMANAGER_USER, userLogin, request );
    putSessionValue( PORTAL_NAME, MY_PORTAL_NAME, request );
    putSessionValue( SERVICEMANAGER_HOME_PAGE, thePage, request );
    // Log in the user
    setLoggedIn(request, response, true);
    // Go there
    response.sendRedirect(getTrafficURI(request));
    %>
    In weblogic.properties
    file you define a sessioncomparator for every portal, for my portals
    I
    am using com.beasys.commerce.portal.admin.PortalSessionComparator,
    but
    Buy Beans example portal uses
    com.beasys.commerce.axiom.jsp.DefaultSessionComparator, what is the
    difference between these two classes?The <pt:monitorsession> tag uses a SessionComparator to see if the
    session is valid, and it can be used to disallow access to a page (see
    docs at http://e-docs.bea.com/wlcs/p13ndev/jsptags.htm#1024804
    You specify the SessionComparator that you want to register with your
    portal or personalized application in weblogic.properties with the
    sessioncomparator argument.
    The PortalSessionComparator and DefaultSessionComparator both
    implement the SessionComparator interface, which defines a single
    method, isValid( ) (see javadoc at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlcs/javadoc/p13n/index.html ) The
    DefaultSessionComparator class returns true for the isValid( ) method.
    The PortalSessionComparator additionally implements the
    PortalAdminConstants interface and checks session attributes to make
    sure that the minimum attributes are present for proper operation of
    the PortalServiceManager servlet. If you want to add requirements for
    a valid portal session, say that the "PREFERRED_CUSTOMER" attribute
    must be present and the value must be "true", then you would just
    extend PortalSessionComparator and register your new sessioncomparator
    argument in weblogic.properties.
    Notice that BuyBeans example portal does NOT use the
    DefaultSessionComparator. It uses the PortalSessionComparator. The
    BuyBeans demo has an example personalized application that is not a
    portal (registered as "/mpbb" with the JspServiceManager servlet)
    which is used to access an example portal (registered as "/mybuybeans"
    with the PortalServiceManager). The personalized application that is
    not a portal ("/mpbb") uses the DefaultSessionComparator.
    Good luck.

  • Horizontal elasticity of fields within frames (Bug?)

    Hi all,
    I have a small esthetic problem that might be a small bug in Oracle Reports. I'd be glad to know if you guys can reproduce this problem and let me know wheter I'm doing something wrong or not...
    I want a field to have its width the same as I draw in the Report Editor. Ok, now you say : "HellOoo! Just make sure your horizontal elasticity in fixed and you should be good to go." Well, I can't let it fixed because my field is preceded by a field that is variable in width, and I want those two fields together to not excess a specific width. Picture this :
    LogicalColumn1MaxWidth OtherColumn
    Field1--|Field2------- Field3
    Field1----|Field2----- Field3
    Field1|Field2---- Field3
    So, I've put Field1 and Field2 into a frame - which is of course contained in the repeating frame). If I let the H.Elasticity of Field2 to fixed, Field2 might not display beside Field1 when this one expands but under it (or not at all, depending on the value of the property 'Print Object On' of the frame). Well, this make some kind of sense : Field1, when expanding, pushes Field2 out of the bounds of the frame, so it get displayed elsewhere if permitted.
    So, what I've done is to put the H.Elasticity of Field2 to variable. I've figured out that Field2 will contract when Field1 will expand. And it work, almost.
    Here's the problem : when Field2's data is truncated (because it contains too much information to display inside its frame), there's always ONE character that display a little bit outside the frame. Seems to me like the algorithm that do the truncation misses a -1 somewhere in its calculation...
    Whatever. Could someone take 3 minutes of its time to try this :
    -In a repeating frame, create a small frame.
    -Select a fill color for the frame
    -In the frame, create a smaller field.
    -Set the source of that field to contains some text (with enough lenghty data to normally exceed the width of the frame)
    -Set the H.Elasticity of the field to 'variable'.
    -Set the 'Print Object On' property for the field to 'All Pages'
    -Select 'no fill' for the field
    -Run the report.
    Do you see that the field always display one character more than supposed? Is that a bug or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks to let me know,
    Frederic

    Hi Sudha and thanks for your reply.
    I'm working with Oracle Reports 6i. The properties I've found that were related with anchoring objects are 'Base Printing On' (values being 'Anchoring Object' or 'Enclosing Object') and 'Keep With Anchoring Object' (values being 'Yes' or 'No'). I've tried all four different possibilities with those values and none of them changed something to my problem. Maybe this has to do with our different version.
    Has someone tried this under Report6i and got the same behavior as I described earlier?
    I'm eager to know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a bug...
    Thanks in advance (again)
    Frederic :-)

  • Slide Show: Move, Scale Pictures Within Frame

    If I want to throw some pictures together that I took at an event into a bonus slideshow for when the DVD is idle, I'd like to be able to position them properly in the video frame.
    Currently, the slide show editor is quite limited, to the extent of the built in pan and zoom effects.
    I'm not asking for a full-featured image editor, we already have plenty of those. I just want to make the image composition look halfway decent in the frame, without editing each image in Photoshop.

    this may be more of an iDVD issue. Sorry - I will re-post there - However, any help is always welcome.

  • Frames within Frames

    Hi
    I've got a program that creates a frame consisting of textfields, and buttons in a flowlayout.
    The problem comes from the fact that I want to add another button, on the main display frame that creates a new frame or window that occurs seperately.
    I am having some trouble getting a button to do this, any pointers would be greatly appreciated

    you'll probably want to have two classes, one that defines what the new window looks like (by extending JFrame for example) and then some sort of controller class that manages the new frames created. The controller could, for example, tell whether more frames can be created, which is in the foreground, etc. etc. hope that helps a little.
