Portfolio editing in HTML

I made a html that references about 15 local pdf portfolios in Acrobat 9 Pro.  This file is to be used in future years by others in my organization with only adobe reader.  The users should be able to easily add and edit files in the portfolio.  The html code, the pdf portfolios, and any other related documents are all local on one computer.
This worked just fine until a user with Adobe X tried it.   Now when she opens the html, then opens the pdf portfolio inside internet explorer, she is unable to add files to the portfolios.   When the user right clicks the drop down menu does not give the option to either Edit Portfolio or Add file.
This makes my entire HTML setup useless.
Is there a way to change a setting in Adobe or Internet Explorer to allow it to behave like it did in Adobe 9(as shown below), where one could easily edit the porftolio in internet explorer?
For further explanation:
I know i could nest the pdf portfolios inside a larger pdf portfolio.  But there are so many documents, that it becomes very bulky and slow.  Plus the html interface allows me to really customize the "Welcome" page, with other links and information.
I am not an expert in html code or adobe software, i just took a try at converting a process my organization normally does all in hard copy into an electronic format.
Thanks,
Mike

@GKaiseril:  Unfortunately, i'm doing this with my hands tied behind my back.  I can't install programs.  If i can't find any other route though, i may end up having to try to wade into the messy waters of new software approval.  I don't know the capabilities of the Adobe SDK, i wonder if it would allow me the option of changing how portfolio users are able to add files.  Thanks for the advice anyways.

  • How can I edit an html file in Firefox using View Source?

    I have created an html webpage and saved it to my pc. I can't edit the html file in firefox when I right click on the page and select "View Source". I can view the code but I can't edit it. I can do this in IE9.
    I thought I was able to do this before in Firefox.
    Did my settings change somewhere that I can no longer do this?
    Do I have to have something checked in the Web Developer extensions for it to work?
    I'm using Firefox 24.0
    Thank you for any help with this. :)

    The View Source window in Firefox cannot be used to change computer codes. Nor can the Web Developer tools.
    Sorry for any inconvenience.
    I suggest using Programmer's Notepad.

    Hi Deepak!
    This seems to be a well-known and quite widespread problem with this extension, unfortunately - the net is full of complaints about this issue, not to mention 'horror stories' about how this (otherwise fairly innocent and well-certified but clearly highly commercial) extension has 'sneaked' its way into peoples installations.
    I find it quite amazing that such an issue has existed for so long without the Browser Highlighter, TinyMCE and FCKeditor teams getting together and making a working fix - it should be rather easy to prevent with a tag or plugin check in editor code and/or a simple editor recognition routine in the extension.
    If you want (/need) to use this extension, I can only point you to the Browser Highlighter homepage for support; in [http://thebrowserhighlighter.com/help.jsp The Browser Highlighter Help section] it is clearly documented - first section, last paragraph - along with a link to [http://thebrowserhighlighter.com/blacklist.jsp this problem report form] where it seems you can ask for help solving the problem.
    However, given the (script-)name of the page, I suppose that reporting a problem on your own website (with all details) actually adds your site - or part of it - to a blacklist that TBH maintains to turn off TBH or at least problematic script injections when visiting sites registered in this list. So actually this might help you solve the problem quite easily, if they do what the page implies.
    Please let us know how above works out, and if we can be of further assistance. Detailed feedback is appreciated and helps us to help you better, plus enables us to better help more users with similar problems.

  • How do you edit the HTML export template?

    Fireworks HTML and images export does not render correctly when viewing in IE9 due to the default browser padding values.  I'm a little disappointed the Fireworks dev team didn't see this coming and add some code to prevent this rendering issue.  Anyway... I've come up with a work around to edit the html pages by adding my own style sheet which includes the yahoo CSS reset styles to take care of this problem and it works great.  The only problem is, adding it to every page of a multiple page export is tedious.  So, I'd like to directly edit the HTML template fireworks uses to generate the html in the head of each page it exports so it includes a reference to my own external style sheet.  I just need to know where/if I can make this change.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Greg

    I've never tried it, but the HTML Code folder inside Fireworks' application Configuration folder contains a number of items related to HTML Export. (Incidentally, I'd never mess with this folder without first saving a backup, and even then it's at your own risk.)
    There's no simple HTML template file here, but there are files like "DreamweaverLibrary.htt", which is a "hypertext template" file that looks a lot like JavaScript to me. So if you're comfortable modifying JavaScript, then you could take a crack at it. I'm not sure, but it looks like this library file might govern what gets written into the head of an exported HTML document. If not, you could try a different one.
    Another, less invasive approach might be to do some kind of Find and Replace on the exported HTML documents—using Dreamweaver or a text editor.

  • Edit in Html mode in content holder and everything dissapear

    Everytime I try to edit in Html mode in business business catalyst. All the content will disappear.
    Now my whole header is gone! and don't look like i can undo it

    This normally happens if the html is malformed, with no close tags or incorect formation, the editor tries to fix that up but sometimes will just loose it.
    Also it is only XHTML compliant, so if you do any HTML5 it wont know what that is.
    Really try and avoid doing html stuff in that html view of the editor.

  • Is there a way to edit the html code of the page directly on iweb?

    My web server gives me the error: Parse error:  syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, everytime I try to access my site after I've updated it with the FTP server.  I leanred that it was because of a bit of extraneous code in the beginning of each page that my web server just doesn't seem to like.  I can go back through once it is updated and delete the code on the web server but it is a big pain to do this each time I update my website, and I would still like to be able to utilize FTP.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    No, you cannot edit the HTML code in iWeb. The webpages are created when you choose publish.
    The parse error is caused by a misconfigured server. Here's how to solve it :
         The PHP parse error
    If you cannot change it, ask your webhoster to do it for you. It's not a iWeb issue.

  • Are we allowed to use the Web developer function in Firefox version 5.0 to edit the html source code associated with the Firefox home page?

    Locking at request of OP - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/844506
    Are we allowed to use the Web developer function, under the "Firefox" tab in Firefox version 5.0, to edit the html source code associated with the Firefox version 5.0 home page ( so that we can personalize the home page )? Is this legal?
    Sincerely in Christ,
    Russell E. Willis

    Solution: (Free Download Manager)
    Go here: http://codecpack.co/download/Free_Download_Manager.html and download Free Download Manager 3.8.1067 Beta 3, it works perfectly with Firefox 5.0.1
    Solution: (to Google mail aka Gmail)
    I have had this problem for a while since I did a previous Firefox update, where I had to force Gmail to load in Basic HTML else it's next to impossible to use it. The solution is this: simply update your Java, and Gmail will work without a problem using Standard HTML. To update your Java go here: http://www.java.com/en/ and select "Free Java Download".
    And beta normally, universally, means "the not quite there yet version of the version we're aiming for" NORMALLY used during production and testing of a type of software.

    Hi,
    JDeveloper 9.0.3 and 9.0.4 don't have a WYSIWYG HTML editor. JDeveloper 9.0.5 that will be close to 9.0.4 has a WYSIWYG editor for both, HTML and JSP.

  • Having trouble editing iweb HTML. Help!

    Hello,
    I have been trying repeatedly to edit my websites html that I created with iweb. I bought the domain with godaddy.com and changed the cname to web.mac.com so that I could create pages and publish them to .mac, which would then show up on my .com name. After a few weeks of being satisfied, I wanted to make my site better, and iweb just wouldnt cut it. So now I have the html code for my front page of my website to include a random image upload each time the website is visited. I've been reading about how to edit the html in iweb in multiple forums and how-to guides, but none of it works for me.
    I attempted to publish to a folder and then edit the html and save it in the same place, with the same name, but this didn't have any effect on the actual website. What do I do? Someone please lay this out for me step by step and tell me what I am doing wrong. This is frustrating! Thank you.

    Thanks for your response. Your second idea is what I'm looking for ---I want a few images to display, one after another, while the homepage of my website is open. It's not really a banner that I want the images to sit in (I think of a banner as being at the top of the page). I want to position the images lower in the body of the page. I had researched this topic quite a few months ago and found some things that might help---that's why I didn't start a new thread---but I couldn't locate the information this second time. I guess it's time to start a new thread as you suggested.
    I checked out your demo. I think that my images need to cycle a little more rapidly, but your javascript is doing the thing I'm looking for. I haven't worked with java. I"m pretty low on the totem pole of web construction. I know how to insert html snippets (impressive, hunh?).
    Give this a try:
    1) add a new page to your project.
    2) add pictures to the page, keep track with their file names you'll need them for the script.
    3) add the following javascript to the page using HTML Snippet:
    <center><img id='imageholder' src='' ></img></center>
    <script type='text/javascript'>
    images = new Array();
    images.push('P8080212.JPG'); // change this to your file name
    images.push('P8080214.JPG'); // change this to your file name
    images.push('P8080215.JPG'); // change this to your file name
    // there is no limit to number of images
    // to add image, add it to the page
    // then add images.push('blah_blah'); to this script
    var image_index = 0;
    function rotateImage() {
        if (image_index == images.length - 1) { image_index = 0 } else { image_index++ }
        document.getElementById('imageholder').src = images[image_index];
    setInterval('rotateImage()', 1000); // change this number to change rotation interval, 1000 = 1 second.
    </script>
    4) in those lines: images.push('blah_blah.jpg') , change file names (inside the single quote) to your image file names
    5) size and place the HTML Snippet on the page.
    6) Set the images' opacity to 0% after you are done so they won't show on your page.
    That's it, there is no limit to number of images, when you add an image to the page, just add another line: images.push('blah_blah.jpg');
    And by the way, I have Chinese Houses in my yard and was photographing Gilia a week ago myself. Are native plants one of your interests?
    Yes, they are low maintenance, the Gilia aren't blooming yet.

  • Editing Wordpress HTML in DW, is it possible....?

    I just cant seem to find a way to edit the HTML of WP themes in HTML. The CSS is a doddle but the rest is not so easy.
    I can find it only when I turn "inspect" on but doing this turns everything onto "live" and when this is on, nothing can be edited.
    To be honest WP is more confusing than I thought. When you create a new page (from a layout included in the chosen theme), it doesnt seem to write it anywhere, therefore editing each individual page seems not possible, you can only edit the original template layout.
    I might just stick to learning PHP and do it my own way for the search engine Im trying to build.

    Hi Martin
    Wordpress is the same as most open source 'complete' solutions, in that anything which cannot be changed from the default, (i.e. The location of the admin section or database connection info) is literally asking to be hacked, as anyone with malicious intentions will know exactly where to find this these just by downloading and examining the code.
    Many people show examples of such systems and state that they would not be used unless they where secure, e.g. drupal being used for the White House blog, or wordpress being used by such as Sony corporation. What they do not say is that the white house blog is not connected to any other US Government computer network, or that the Sony blog has similar restrictions, or that they are behind industrial strength firewalls which are constantly monitored. The same applies to all the uses of such by the major organizations that are using such,  so in answer to your question - for a blog, yes, use one of these system, for anything requiring security such as e-commerce, "User Beware".
    I could point to similar criticisms regarding the built-in server behaviours used in dreamweaver, the use of php with the standard mysql database connection and query code is outdated and no longer used or recommended by almost every developer who knows even the basics of secure coding practices regarding databases. If your chosen cms does not use php with mysqli or the php:pdo code, (many stand-alone open-source cms's do) then it is using old outdated/obsolete code, and even though the standard code has improved in the last few years, it will never be as secure as the two better alternatives.
    Unfortunately saying that the problems with wordpress, (and other cms's) are related to the hosts php/database settings or trojans, in not a valid excuse, unless the installation and setting up of such is recommended only to be done by qualified persons, and very few web designers/developers are, let alone the large number of none professionals or amateurs that use them. One must also ask how many site owners have any say on the settings of the php installation or the database when they are using shared hosting, which accounts for over 85% of all site owners.
    I could go on, but!!!

  • Editing Bridge HTML Web Gallery?

    Is it possible to edit the HTML Gallery Web Gallery option in Bridge? I just want it to have file names below the thumbs and preview and it would be perfect for what I want to use it for.

    I've found the location embedded down three "package content" levels:
    /Applications/Adobe Lightroom.app/Contents/Plugins
    /Web.agmodule/Contents/Resources/galleries
    /default_html.lrwebengine/head.html
    and related html files.
    Reminds me of the "beware of the leopard" bit in Hitchhiker's Guide.

  • After editing slideshow html, music plays when photos are selected normaly

    I followed instructions on how to add music to a slideshow by editing the html, and it worked great. The problem is.. when a photo on the page is selected without starting the slideshow the music starts.
    What has to be changed in the code to make it so the music only plays when the slideshow is started.
    Thanks

    What do you see if you try to edit one of those photos?  Do you see this in the window?
    Click to view full size
    As a first attempt at a fix make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Disable the Textfield while editing the HTML form item

    How to disable a texfield while editing the HTML form item ? It should be enabled while creating the new form entry / record.
    Yogesh

    Yogesh,
    If you 'disable' an item and submits (UPDATE) the page, then disabled item value won't get submitted. So the disabled item value will get updated with NULL or you will get any validation failures messages, if you have any.
    Better option would be, make the item read-only during Update. For the text item for which you want disable, edit that item,goto 'Read-only Conditions', here set the condition so that user can't edit it during UPDATE. Here you can use same conditions as of your 'UPDATE' button 'display conditions'
