Porting modified components across environments

I am using the HTML code generated for the parameter form
of a standard report component in an HTML portlet on a page
to call the standard report component. When porting from
development to production will these customizations be
a problem - do the component ID's of standard application
components change when ported across environments? Is it
better to write a custom dynamic page instead that would
call the component?
Thanks,
Suzanne

Hello Narayana,

  • Migrating Studio across environments

    EIS had/has the ability to export schemas and other EIS objects as XML files that can be used to migrate across environments.
    Studio has no such thing (or if it does, I can't see it).
    The docs do talk about migration, but that's from EIS to Studio. LCM, tantilizingly, shows Studio, but when I click on it I get a "User is not authorized for the action." My id has every Studio provisioning right there is.
    I can see a migration path, sort of, that entails moving an entire database schema/database (Oracle/SQL Server) from one environment to another, and then diving into the tables to change references to servers, rights, etc. I have not tried this because it reminds me of pre-11 Planning migrations and they hurt.
    Is the above approach documented anywhere?
    Is there a better way to migrate from development to production?
    If there is, wonderful. Following on that welcome news, is there a way to selectively migrate an object or series of objects?

    Hello GlennS:
    CL, I hope you do not mind if I re-open this post ;)
    I have been working with Essbase Studio 11.1.2 and I have seen that models could be exported to xml. But now I am working with 11.1.1.3 and I do not know how to migrate between environments.
    I think I have two issues:
    1) Maybe 11.1.1.3 does not support this feature?. Migrating the entire database should be the solution?. Should I also migrate physical files?
    2) My database is in SQL Server 2005 and destination database is Oracle. Do you think I would be able to?

  • Migrating Custom Functions across environments

    Within our DEV environment (EPM 11.1.2.1 - Planning & Essbase) we have about 15 CDFs visible in EAS for an application.
    Of these 15 CDFs 1 has a class name of pwc_date and all the rest are com.hyperion.essbase.cdf.psb.HSPCDFUtils.
    I need to migrate these to UAT.
    How do I do this?
    For what it is worth in DEV - I can see pwc_date.class in D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\java\udf but the others are still hidden to me!
    Thanks in advance for all assistance.
    Regards
    Paul

    The functions in com.hyperion.essbase.cdf.psb.HSPCDFUtils are part of planning and will have been installed by default, it is possible to deploy them from the planning application when refreshing "update custom-defined functions" - Creating and Refreshing Application Databases
    For the other CDF copy the jar or class file across environments, update udf.policy and register the functions.
    Cheers

  • Configuration Audit across environments

    Hello Colleagues,
    I have observed differences in application behaviour across our Dev, QA and Production CRM systems. While some of these are related to data issues I have found a few instances of inconsistent configurations across the landscape. Of course, this should not be the case if the configurations have been transported across but we had a few instances of backing transports in and out which has caused inconsistencies. In this context my question is,
    Is there any way to do a audit/comparison of CRM Customizing across systems?
    Thanks!

    You're mixing apples and oranges in a couple different places. First you're acquiring an array a waveforms and trying to wire it to the Get Waveform Components which only accepts a single waveform (i.e. one element of your array). Second, you're trying to extract the Y data (which is an array of points) and use a formula node with a scalar input. I've modified your example to do what I think your're trying to accomplish.

  • Best way to migrate Applications across environments of different versions

    Hello Gurus,
    Source EPM Environment - EPM 11.1.1.3
    Target EPM Environment - EPM 11.1.2.2
    What is the best way to migrate applications for Planning , Essbase , HFM and also the related reports from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 .
    Any help will be highly appreciated..
    Thanks
    HyperEPM.

    I tried with upgrading the application and it was done pretty smoothly as compared to the LCM import export method.
    Now what would be the feasible way to move all the applications when following is the scenario and we need a minimum downtime.
    1. Move from EPM 11.1.1.3 to EPM 11.1.2.2
    2. DB used to configure EPM 11.1.2.2 should be fresh and not the existing one.
    3. We want to move all the applications across to EPM 11.1.2.2 on the freshly configured EPM 11.1.2.2.
    4. Move all the applications intact across the version.
    Thanks

  • Modifying Components within a cell table not working

    Hello,
    I am displaying JTextFields within JPanels in each cell of a JTable, but when I select a cell I am unable to enter text into the text boxes. Why has this been disabled now that these components are withing a JTable cell?
    Thanks,
    Emily

    Do I have the CellEditor just return the same Panel the renderer returns?It depends and I suppose rather not.. The JTable invokes editor to provide editing component with cell object as parameter. The editor method is then expected, in your case, to set appropiate values to all components in panel and return this panel. However, JTable may also need to draw another cells while you are editing. It will then ask renderer to provide panel for that - if you use exactly same object you may have a "crostalk" between renderer and editor.
    Whatever you will do, the behaviour of JPanel build in JTable cell will be litle different than standalone JPanel - if for example user double clicks in JTextField in cell, this click won't select JTextField - it will start editor only. Single click may not work at all. I did experimented with JComboBox as an editor and found, that to not confuse user too much it is better to have different view for renderer and editor - this way user will be aware about switching between edit and select/view mode.
    Also, any listeners may get confused in JPanel embeded in JTable - they will recive extra events when you prepre panel to display/edit and may miss many mouse events since they will be attached to event pump only while JTable keeps cell in edit mode.
    You need some experiments, I think. I would start from having two instances of same JPanel subclass - one which will work as a renderer and second, which will work as an editor.

  • IR and ID version check across environments

    HI ,
    Iis there a tool/ transaction  in SAP XI or SAP respectively  where i can check for the version of  IR or ID across Environements
    i.e the changes made in Development enviroment having been correctly trasnported to Production or  quality or staging , without having to manually open them ,
    for eg a change made to a mapping , or  Interface determination in development has  been transported to staging(SXI)  , so to know whether the same exists in another  environement  say quality (QXI) without having to open the same manually
    Can it be done ??
    kindly suggest
    thanks in advance
    SD

    hi
    If I am not wrong  There is no Seperate Versions for ID and IR.
    IF u want to check Version for XI Open SAP GUI and in that go to System --> Status.
    Then U will find details of XI.
    One more option is Open XI Tools Using URL and then go to Administration in that We will find Version and SP Details.
    For Transporting Development Objects to Production CCMS is Compulsory in XI.
    This may be Help u.
    Other wise u will give u r mail id i will send CCMS doc

  • Moving Xcelcius Documents across Environments

    All
       We have three environments ( DEV, TEST, PROD). We developed a Project using Xcelcius and we really liked the tool. The only draw back we see using this product is Its not easy to move the Xcelcius documents from one environment to another. Using the query as web service wizard I created two webservice. One in DEV and another one in TEST. Both returns the same result.
    In DEV:
    WSDL          http://DEVBOX:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/DevWebService?WSDL
    Web Service URL :      http://DEVBOX:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/queryasaservice
    IN TEST:
    WSDL :            http://TESTBOX:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/TestWebservice?WSDL
    Web Service URL :      http://TESTBOX:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/queryasaservice
    I developed a Xcelcius document using the WSDL from DEV BOX.
    Here is my problem. As soon as i change the WSDL reference to TEST all the reference that i have already made to the cells on EXCEL sheet are gone. I want a seemless migration from DEV Box to TEST BOX
    so that i dont need to remap the mappings to EXCEL sheet again.
    I see this as a big drawback in using this tool. Has anyone faced this problem before. If so can you please suggest me a good solution so that i dont need to remap the mappings while migrating from one environment to another.
    Thanks
    -Prabu

    Amit
        Thank you very much. When i removed the relative path it works. Now in my DEVELOPMENT environment the WSDL URL and the Web Service URL looks like this
    WSDL URL          : http://BOBD2:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/DevWebService?WSDL
    Web Service URL : /dswsbobje/qaawsservices/queryasaservice
    As you said it gives an error when I run from Xcelcius and when I export the SWF file to the BO Infoview repository it works fine.  Here is where I run into confusion. Now the dashboard works fine in DEV Box.
    I now need to move the dashboard from DEV to TEST.  So I need to use a WSDL from TEST box. The Test box WSDL is referred as
    WSDL URL           : http://BOBT1:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/TestvWebService?WSDL
    Here is the problem.
    When I try to change the WSDL URL referred from
    http://BOBD2:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/DevWebService?WSDL
    TO
    http://BOBT1:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/TestvWebService?WSDL
    All the reference that I have made to the Excel is gone. Even if we use relative path the WSDL file has to remain the same. Which means the WSDL has to be from one box and it cannot be on multiple box or server? Is there a way that I can alter the WSDL file and still maintain the reference in the EXCEL? Your Help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Sharing business components across projects

    i have created a project in jdeveloper that contains all my required entity and view objects. this project has been placed on a central machine. during the development phase, all the team members need to use the same project and make changes to the entity/ view objects. but the changes made by one are overwritten when the same project is saved by the other member. is there any way to get around this problem.
    also, i created an entity and view object on one machine and copied the xml and java files to another machine. here i tried to include them in a new project but got errors and was unable to do so. what are the steps to be followed to include existing entity/view objects in a new project.

  • Need an expert advice in Implementing continuous delivery across environments

    Hi All,
    I need an expert advice/solution in implementing continuous delivery in our project. (PF Screenshot)
    Deployment goes like this..
    Dev checks in -> TFS Builds - > RM Invokes -> using PS/DSC -> Copies the binaries to DIT environemnt's IIS virtual dir -> Manual replacement of Web.config files (since we have many environments)- > App runs
    PS/DSC does following things : Copies binaries using X copy , Uploads SP excel reports , Executing Dacpac scripts etc ..
    Now the chanllenge earlier faced was wrt Web.Config files was, for every DIT environment many configurations, conn strings would change. In order to overcome this , Implemented Web.config transformations( like Web.DIT1.Config .... Web.DIT6.config in my solution
    explorer.
    Added a custom MSBuild script in my .csproj file and before triggerig the build defination I 'd change in Process tab- > Basic - > Configuration = DIT1 (based on requirement) and triggers . )
    It perfectly deploys to the DIT 1 without manually replacing WEb.config files.
    1) Now the blocker for me, Can we achieve this without Web.config transformations ? Since I don't want to expose the sensitive date in config files is there any way to implementing the same ?
    2) I wanted to have continuous deployments from DIT to SIT and from SIT to UAT etc , How can we achevive the same ?
       I m planning to implement the same with web.config tokenizing in RM?
    Looking for some expert advice in achieving the same?
    Many Thanks ,
    Abraham Dhanyaraj

    HI Abraham,
    Instead of having web config transformations to set config values for each environment do the following.
    1. Have one transformation config say for example web.release.config which will contain tokens understood by RM (starting and ending with double underscore) for each config value.
    <log4net>
    <appender name="FileAppender" type="log4net.Appender.FileAppender">
    <file value="__log4netLogFile__" xdt:Transform="Replace" />
    </appender>
    </log4net>
    <ClientsSection>
    <Clients xdt:Transform="Replace">
    <add Id="__ClientId1__" Secret="__SecretCode1__" RedirectUrl="__RedirectUrl1__"></add>
    <add Id="__ClientId2__" Secret="__SecretCode2__" RedirectUrl="__RedirectUrl2__"></add>
    </Clients>
    </ClientsSection>
    <appSettings xdt:Transform="Replace">
    <add key="MinCaps" value="2" />
    <add key="MinSymbols" value="1" />
    <add key="MinNumerics" value="1" />
    <add key="MinLength" value="6" />
    <add key="MaxLength" value="" />
    <add key="webpages:Version" value="3.0.0.0" />
    <add key="webpages:Enabled" value="false" />
    <add key="PreserveLoginUrl" value="true" />
    <add key="ClientValidationEnabled" value="true" />
    <add key="UnobtrusiveJavaScriptEnabled" value="true" />
    <add key="WebPortalName" value="__WebPortalName__" />
    <add key="TimeZoneFrom" value="Pacific Standard Time"/>
    <add key="TimeZoneTo" value="Mountain Standard Time"/>
    </appSettings>
    The TFS builds can generate output with above formatted configs with web config transformation.
    2. Then in RM server templates change the config files to have values depending on the environment. You can do this using a custom deployment component or default xcopy deployment component to set parameters.
    3. Then in the release template set the config values.
    Cheers!

  • Business Service and logical system naming criteria across environments

    Hi !
    Imagine this scenario: File-XI-IDOC. There is a file server where files are uploaded by a legacy application. XI polls that directory, converts the file to IDOC and sends it to R/3.
    R/3 is a production business system, for example "R3_PROD", the file server is a business SERVICE, because of its abstract nature.
    Is it ok to give that business service a name such as "BS_FileServer" and then create the logical system "LS_FileServer" in R/3, to be able to receive IDOCs from the sender business service?
    If we need to use 3 different file servers, one for development, one for test and another for production...is it ok to create the business service in each integration directory with SAME name, and the 3 logical systems with same name in each R/3 receiver...because creating business services as "BS_FileServer_DEV", "BS_FileServer_TEST" and "BS_FileServer_PROD" we imagine that could give us problems when transporting scenarios from dev to test, and from test to prod...because we will need to recreate the whole scenario using the new object denomination.. e.g. a scenario including BS_FileServer_DEV in development is called BS_FileServer_TEST in test..or worse..we could have the BS object transported and as a result we would have a BS_FileServer_DEV object in integration directory of our test environment...
    Is this the right path?
    Thanks,
    Matias.

    Hey,
    When a technical system is defined  for a product / s/w comp version we also enter the parameter for logical system name. If a buisness system is defined for a technical system then it in turns refers to the technical system with buisness system assigned to it.
    Itz lyk linkage of  <b>PRODUCT -> S/W COM VERSION -> TECHNICAL SYSTEM (LOGICAL SYSTEM) -> BUSINESS SYSTEM</b>
    As per file to idoc scenario where <b>BUSINESS SERVICE</b> is used it doesn't refer to technical landscape so there is no question of Business system. With relevance to transports.
    With File -XI-Idoc scenario the concept of logical system only comes into picture if we have  a integration process also involved in the scenario. Where in adapter specific identifiers we specify the logical system name of the sender file system.
    Integration Repository.
    1)  The Software Component version need to be same in all the landscapes that is a prerequisite else transport will fail.
    Integration Directory:
    2) Assuming that transport is being done for all the objects under a service and the objects has been transported to the test landscape business service with same name will be create in test sys only address and access parameters that have to be entered again and the change list has to be activated.
    I haven't  tried exporting individual object from ID so no clue.
    Please refer the following link<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/93/a3a74046033913e10000000a155106/frameset.htm">Transporting XI Objects</a> .

  • Syncing Applications across Environments

    We have an existing installation and are planning on setting up a stand-by server for disaster recovery for our Hyperion Planning application. What are the possible ways to sync the applications from one server to another? I was thinking we will need to setup LCM migrations + Essbase L0 exports and somehow automate them. Is there any utility in the new versions which makes this automatic, similar to cloning?
    Thanks.

    If you can use a shared location for LCM then you can use Utility.bat file for automation. (else you'll have to include file copy between servers)
    For level 0 export you can use maxl and with the new version you can use wild cards to load them back (don't need to worry about the number of files)
    I don't think there is an out-of-box utility to handle this.

  • Managing dotfiles across environments/machines?

    Hey guys,
    Like many others here, I like the idea of keeping my user specific configuration files inside of a repository. I've seen many different implementations of this, the most common being to clone the repository into something like ~/.dotfiles and then using a included script to symlink the files. I'm lucky enough to have been able to move all of my dotfiles into the $XDG_CONFIG_HOME, so I have no need to link files other than ~/.profile and ~/.bashrc. You can find my dotfile repository here.
    This works really well for a single system. But really only makes it useful for sharing configurations and for restoring configurations for that specific machine.
    It would be great if I could also use this repository to quickly install my dotfiles on a new machine. Now obviously I can clone this repository on any other machine and things will work, but there are a few problems:
    What happens when the dot files need to differ. For example, my sxhkd configuration has some differences on my desktop vs on my laptop.
    A lot of the configuration files may have no relevance on the system. For example I use the xboxdrv userspace driver on my HTPC so I can use a 360 controller. But obviously I don't need this on any other machines.
    I've tried using branches, but this can become hard to maintain when there are a lot of changes on a branch. My current working idea for can be found on the custom-env-dotfiles branch of my dot-config repository (check the readme)
    I was curious if anyone else has thought about this and has come up with solutions? Or maybe someone has some other ideas for what I'm trying to do.
