Migrating Custom Functions across environments

Within our DEV environment (EPM 11.1.2.1 - Planning & Essbase) we have about 15 CDFs visible in EAS for an application.
Of these 15 CDFs 1 has a class name of pwc_date and all the rest are com.hyperion.essbase.cdf.psb.HSPCDFUtils.
I need to migrate these to UAT.
How do I do this?
For what it is worth in DEV - I can see pwc_date.class in D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer\java\udf but the others are still hidden to me!
Thanks in advance for all assistance.
Regards
Paul

The functions in com.hyperion.essbase.cdf.psb.HSPCDFUtils are part of planning and will have been installed by default, it is possible to deploy them from the planning application when refreshing "update custom-defined functions" - Creating and Refreshing Application Databases
For the other CDF copy the jar or class file across environments, update udf.policy and register the functions.

  • Trouble migrating Crystal Reports Custom Functions from BOXI R2 to BOXI 3.1

    I can't seem to migrate the custom functions from the custom function repository in my R2 environment to the 3.1 with FP 1.3 environment.
    When I migrate Crystal Reports using the Import Wizard, they all come over and they retain their custom functions, however, they don't bring over or create a new custom function repository.
    When I do run the import wizard I have selected the repository radio button, but it does not have any affect .
    How can I migrate all of these custom functions without having to manually open up reports and placing them back into the repository on the new server?
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Hi,
    so if they are published to Rel.2 this looks different.
    Just to clarify it a bit more...these Files are no Datasources for Reports and Universes and your Users dont consume them via InfoView?!
    Whats the purpose for these Files? If they have none, you can de- select them in the UMT and dont migrate them (or better said move them cause you wont actually migrate .csv files). But if nobody touches them, you can move them with the UMT during daily business...how long it will take i cant estimate it. But 65GB for .CSV files is a huge amount.
    But you are correct, to move them from Rel.2 to BI4 you have to use the UMT.
    If you have the ressources and time i would recommend the following (Thats what i usually do with my customers):
    1. Setup a Machine (could be a VM) with the same OS and BOE Version (included SPs and FPs) as your production Rel.2
    2. Schedule a half day or day Downtime to copy the content 1:1 from the production Rel.2 to the VM Rel.2 with the IW or CMS DB Copy. Or do this after Business Hours.
    - With this Size of your FileStore i would recommend the CMS DB copy way.
    - Now you have a 1:1 Testing Environment of your Production Environment
    3. Use the UMT to migrate from your VM Rel.2 to your BI4 installation
    - Here you can see how long it takes
    - You can check if the UMT is capable for this 65GB transfer
    - Can sort out other possible issues
    - Do some other Testing
    After you did that you have a perfect estimation on how long the Migration will take and what for issues you are facing. With this information you can decide if you need a downtime or can do it after Business Hours f.e.

  • Migrating Studio across environments

    EIS had/has the ability to export schemas and other EIS objects as XML files that can be used to migrate across environments.
    Studio has no such thing (or if it does, I can't see it).
    The docs do talk about migration, but that's from EIS to Studio. LCM, tantilizingly, shows Studio, but when I click on it I get a "User is not authorized for the action." My id has every Studio provisioning right there is.
    I can see a migration path, sort of, that entails moving an entire database schema/database (Oracle/SQL Server) from one environment to another, and then diving into the tables to change references to servers, rights, etc. I have not tried this because it reminds me of pre-11 Planning migrations and they hurt.
    Is the above approach documented anywhere?
    Is there a better way to migrate from development to production?
    If there is, wonderful. Following on that welcome news, is there a way to selectively migrate an object or series of objects?

    Hello GlennS:
    CL, I hope you do not mind if I re-open this post ;)
    I have been working with Essbase Studio 11.1.2 and I have seen that models could be exported to xml. But now I am working with 11.1.1.3 and I do not know how to migrate between environments.
    I think I have two issues:
    1) Maybe 11.1.1.3 does not support this feature?. Migrating the entire database should be the solution?. Should I also migrate physical files?
    2) My database is in SQL Server 2005 and destination database is Oracle. Do you think I would be able to?
    Thank you for your help

  • Error in Custom Function Module

    Hi,
    I am working on implementing General Ledger Business content in financial Accounting.
    We had a requirement of creating a Custom Virtual cube similar to 0FIGL_V10. Hence, we had copied the standard function module RS_BCT_FIGL_DATA_GET_VC10 and created a custom function module. Before doing that, we had copied the function group RS_BCT_FIGL and created a custom function group for the custom function module.Both were activated subsequently. Then, we had created a custom virtual cube (ZFIGL_V10) using the custom function module.
    The queries on the Standard virtual cube were migrated to ZFIGL_V10 using the RSZC transaction code. when the queries are executed in RSRT, we get an error message "**An exception with the type CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_FUNC occurred" and the ABAP debugger is started post that error.
    Has anyone faced this problem before?could any of you provide some pointers to it.
    Regards,
    Sainath

    You cannot use the standard function module which is used for standard cube for another cube.
    You should not change the function module.
    Instead you can make a copy of the function module you are using aand use this copy in ur virtual cube which will work in the same way the actual Fm used to work and it will make you perfrom the changes.
    Follow the below steps:
    1) Goto SE37 and In the top tool bar click on the copy button which is on right side of delete button.
    2) in fr FM give the name of the actual FM and in to Fm give the name of the function module you want to copy.
    3) Then click on copy.
    4) Now open this new function in edit mode and goto the import/export parameters and check. it will have all the same parameters as the actual FM. Here you can make the changes you want.
    5) Now use this FM in your virtual cube and it will be working as per your requirement

  • Customer function or Badi for MB21

    Hello,
    I'm looking for a customer function or BADI for MB21 to check values entered in the header.
    I just tried MB_RESERVATION_BADI using DATA_MODIFY or DATA_CHECK interface,but in the first case you cannot use error messages (that's what I need to stop process),well you could use but it get you out of the MB21!
    In the second case you can use error messages (with raise external_message) but
    the transaction doesn't stop in the dynpro header.
    I also used MBCF0007 but it's after the commit ...in this case I don't know how could be usefully,I need to check before it.
    Anyone know if I need to try migrating MBCF0007 to BADI ? Could this help me ?
    Or there something else ?
    I was thinking to move MBCF0007 user extt before commit....
    Thank you !

    Hi,

  • Batch Processor and Custom Functions

    Hi,
    We're using the 10.4.2 Batch Processor, connected to an Oracle 11g database to handle large amounts of data.
    Recently, four custom functions have been added to the rulebase. Nothing complicated, just some string manipulation stuff (trim whitespace etc.). Each function is just a few lines of fairly simple code. No database calls, no web service calls or anything like that. It stays within the Java jar file.
    Suddenly the processing time of the BP has gone up from a couple of minutes to well over an hour. The only change to the rulebase has been the addition of the functions, nothing else.
    It almost looks like the BP is initialising the custom functions with every case that's processed. If this is the case then this would be massively inefficient and as a result we would not be able to implement our new functions.
    Has anybody else come across this before?
    Regards,
    Evert

    Regards,
    EvertEvert,
    You are correct, it does initialise the custom function for every case that is processed. This is necessary as every case is a determinations engine session.
    However, you have control over how long the initialization process. If you make the time consuming parts of your custom function static, and then make the initialization fast, then you will get a much faster custom function call. The custom function code is entirely within your control and you can make it as fast as you like.
    Cheers

  • Porting modified components across environments

    I am using the HTML code generated for the parameter form
    of a standard report component in an HTML portlet on a page
    to call the standard report component. When porting from
    development to production will these customizations be
    a problem - do the component ID's of standard application
    components change when ported across environments? Is it
    better to write a custom dynamic page instead that would
    call the component?
    Thanks,

    Hello Narayana,

  • SSHR - Custom function keeps breaking!!

    My Private Vehicle custom functions keep breaking and I don't know why!!!
    When I say "custom", I am simply duplicating PQPVEHINFOPROCESS_MGR_SS and PQPVEHINFOPROCESS_SS and renaming them. I make the necessary amendments to the HTML Call and Parameters and they work perfectly but then when I have revisited the function as part of testing after a few weeks, they error!! This has happened three times now. Each time the solution has been to repeat the whole process.
    We have exclusive use of the environment and no patches/updates have been applied. No changes have been made to config/setup so I cannot understand why this is happening.
    Has anyone come across this before? The error does not occur with the seeded function. What am I doing wrong?

  • Calling Function across Classes

    How do I call a function across classes?
    I have a primary class ("ChordLib.as") that contains a function that manages options for TileList component, that includes prescribing a custom Cell Rendering class, "MyRenderer".  I want to be able to call a function in the primary "ChordLib.as" class from the "MyRenderer.as" class.  Here is the function in "ChordLib" that refers to the "MyRenderer" class. Perhaps there is a way here to pass reference of the primary class into "MyRenderer"?
    // SET CHORD LIST  //////////////////////////////////////////
    public function setChordList(song:int):void {
    var dpChords:DataProvider = new DataProvider();
    var i:uint;
    // determine chord set
    if (song == -1) {
         activeChords = allChords;
    } else {
         activeChords = songChordSets[song];
    // fill dataProvider
    for(i=0; i<activeChords.length; i++) {
         var tt = activeChords[i];
         dpChords.addItem({ label:tt, source:ChordBar, data:i, scaleContent:true });
    chordList.dataProvider = dpChords;
    chordList.columnWidth     = 70;
    chordList.rowHeight     = 30;
    chordList.direction = ScrollBarDirection.VERTICAL;
    chordList.setStyle("contentPadding", 5);
    chordList.setRendererStyle("imagePadding", 0);
    chordList.scrollPolicy  = ScrollPolicy.ON;
    // set style for labels
    chordList.setRendererStyle("textFormat", textFormat1);
    // set the background skin
    chordList.setStyle("skin", lightBackground);
    //set the cell renderer
    chordList.setStyle("cellRenderer", MyRenderer);
    This last line ("chordList.setStyle("cellRenderer", MyRenderer);") refers to this custom class, that includes some event listeners:
    package {
       import fl.controls.listClasses.ICellRenderer;
       import fl.controls.listClasses.ImageCell;
       import flash.events.*;
       public class MyRenderer extends ImageCell implements ICellRenderer {
          public function MyRenderer() {
                this.buttonMode    = true;
              // set state skins to same skin so background is static
              setStyle("upSkin", lightBackground);
              setStyle("downSkin", lightBackground);
              setStyle("overSkin", lightBackground);
              setStyle("selectedUpSkin", lightBackground);
              setStyle("selectedDownSkin", lightBackground);
              setStyle("selectedOverSkin", lightBackground);
              // turn off text background by setting to 0
              setStyle("textOverlayAlpha", 0);
              setStyle("textPadding", 7);
                // event listeners
                this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, clickHandler);
                this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, mouseOverHandler);
                this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, mouseOutHandler);
           // EVENTS
           private function clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
           private function mouseOverHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
           private function mouseOutHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
    I want to insert calls to functions that are in the primary class (that contains the first function listed here), "ChordLib.as".
    How do I do this?

    In order for ClassA to call a function of another ClassB (or instance of it) it needs to be aware of two facts: 1) That ClassB does exist and 2) that ClassB has a particular function.
    Another approach could be establishing communication between classes via events.
    From you explanation it is not clear what you want to accomplish. Do you need to call a function on Class itself or an instance of this Class?
    If former - you need to create a static function and just call it:
    inside ClassB:
    public static function classBFunction()
    ClassA can call it:
    ClassB.classBFunction()
    If you need to call the function on an instance - you, naturally, need to instantiate the class and only then call the function.
    Say you have function inside ClassB
    public function classBAnotherFunction() - note that there is no word static
    There is another fork here: either you instantiate the ClassB inside ClassA or you pass a reference of the instance of ClassB into ClassA

  • Jsp el custom functions not loading

    Hi,
              We are currently testing Weblogic 9.0 and have come across a
              problem with custom EL functions.
              The problem is that it does not recognise the custom function.
              It is replicable using the sample webapp
              found here /opt/bea/weblogic90/samples/server/examples/src/examples/webapp/jsp/expressions/
              jspExpressionEar/
              the JSP exception thrown shows...

                   at javelin.jsp.el.ELNode$Function.evaluate(ELNode.java:630)
              We have tried a couple of methods of configureing.
              URI to taglib.tld (which should not matter) was /WEB-INF/..
              Tried http://someunique.url.com
              and both a JSP (this sample) and a JSPX file (our original).
              Has anyone seen this problem before, I see no mention of the error on the forums.
              Regards
              Ramon

    You get the same error even when the class which includes the method is missing. Can you check whether the class is available in WEB-INF/classes or WEB-INF/lib or at the ear level?
              I just tried this locally and it works as expected w/ the class in web-inf/classes
              We'll add a better error message in this case.

  • How to bring the custom function module in WE42?

    Hi,
    I have created a custom function module to post a custom idoc.
    Process code has been created thro WE42 and WE57 is done.
    Still I am not able to see the custom function module in the list (WE42) in order to assign it to process code.
    May i know the reason for this?
    Thanks.
    Thiyagu

    What makes you think that it should be visible in WE42? There is no F4-value help for this and you haven't added it manually yet, right.
    In WE42 you can manually add entries, so that's what I would do.

  • SSRS - Pass Field Value List To Custom Function Assembly And Display Result

    I have written a SQL Server Reporting Services custom function as a C# assembly DLL and added it to my report. The purpose of the function is to search for outlier records in a collection of data. The data is represented as an array of floating point -tuplets
    (float[][]). In a medical patient database, these might be things such as blood pressure, cholesterol, hight, weight, waist measurement, etc.
    Several user input parameters are provided in the report, including numeric seed values for this particular algorithm. One multivalued parameter is a list of the numeric columns to be used as input to the algorithm because, importantly,
    the user can choose any subset of the value columns. I have a tablix that will display columns from the dataset conditionally, based on which of those columns are chosen.
    At this point, there are two issues I'm having difficulty with:
    How do I, in the course of running the report, take just the numeric columns that the user has chosen (ignoring all others in the dataset) and pass them as a float[][] to my custom function? Or is there something in the
    Microsoft.ReportingServices namespace that I should use to query an input dataset and convert it to an array in my C# code?
    How can I present the array subset returned by my custom function in a tablix in the report?
    Note: One thought that occurs to me is that outlier records tablix could be contained in a subreport, but I'm not clear on the logistics of passing dataset field results from a master report to a subreport.
    I envision a final report when run to be similar to the following:
    - Mark Z.

    Hi Mark,
    Sorry for the delay.
    From your description, you want to pass the dataset data to a custom code array, and return the subset of the array, right? In this case, you can use a custom function to add the data to array, and use the a custom function to sort the data base on your
    requirement and then use a function to get the subset of the array. Here are some sample custom code for your reference.
    Add to arryay
    Dim values As System.Collections.ArrayList=New System.Collections.ArrayList()
    Function SetText(ByVal value As Integer) As Integer
        values.Add(value)
        return value
    End Function
    Sort array
    Function Sort()
    Dim i as Integer
    Dim j as Integer
    Dim t as Integer
    Dim n as Integer=values.Count-1
    For i=n To 1 Step-1
     For j=0 To i-1
     if values(j)<values(j+1) Then
        t=values(j)
        values(j)=values(j+1)
        values(j+1)=t
     End if
     Next j
    Next i
    End Function
    Return value.
    Function Rank(ByVal value As Integer)
       return values(value)
    End Function
    Assume that you pass [Weight] field to array, you can use the expression below on the Weight column:
    =Code.SetText(Fields!Weight.Value)
    Then use the expression below to get the values.
    PatientID:=Sort() & Lookup(Code.Rank(0),Fields!Weight.Value,Fields.Patient.Value,"Dataset")
    Height:=Lookup(Code.Rank(0),Fields!Weight.Value,Fields.Height.Value,"Dataset")
    Weight:=Code.Rank(0)
    Hope this helps.

  • Report Template driven by custom functions

    Hello,
    I'm a newbie, and i'm trying to design a report template driven by a vw and/or stored proc to display information on a letterhead report.  Such as names that can change at any time.  I have another interface linked to the vw/sp to change that information at any time.  What i'm trying to get is the idea of how to create a template letterhead report that i don't have to go back into crystal to change whenever the administration name changes.
    Does anybody have any ideas or examples?  I'm thinking Custom Functions are the way to go but, i just don't know how to get started with using them if that's the way to go.
    Thanks in advance!
