Portlets Disappearing

I have 3 portlets in my page using Portal 3.0.7.6.2 on Solaris. When I login, randomly one of the portlets will not show up and I don't get any error either. When I refresh or reload they all show up. This happens in IE and Netscape.
I have increased the timeout timing but apparently that didn't make any difference.
Any ideas
null

I am experiencing this problem in 3.0.8, but had not seen it prior. It occurs with both pre-built and new (custom) pages, all (for now) using built-in portlets. I thought it might be due to mismatched table tags, but it occurs in IE as well, which usually is not susceptible to this problem.
When I do a View Source, I get the following error for those page regions that disappear:
<!-- Error: The listener returned the following Message: &ltFONT color=&quot#FF0000&quot face=&quotarial,helvetica&quot&gt&ltB&gt403&lt/B&gt&lt/FONT&gt &ltB&gtForbidden&lt/B&gt --></TD>
Does this help?

  • Portlets disappears

    I have a custom portlet in .net on the portal home page for calendar.
    At the bottom of it , we have different custom portlet for posting the company photos.
    When we click on the next month in the calendar portlet, the portlet(Company photos porlet) behind it disappears.
    Later we found that placing the controls inside the form tag in the aspx pages cause this issue. During the post back the form tag refresh the page and overwrites the portlets behind it.
    Has anyone come acroos this type of issue? If means do you have any fix for this?
    Thanks for your help.

    i'm guessing you're using "Web Controls for .NET" or whatever they are called now.
    what portal version? adaptive layouts?
    does this happen in all browsers? whats your doctype?
    try looking at the rendered source with a tool like firebug for firefox to see what happened to the html that you can't see anymore. there probably is a closing tag missing.

  • Portlet disappeared from Portal Builder after editing

    I created a Master-Detail form in portal builder. At the end of one edit, I clicked cancel to undo the change. Somehow, the portlet was totally disappeared. I checked the repository table WWA_FORM$ and WWA_MODULES$, this form is still there, but it just does not show up in the portal builder navigator page. Can anybody help me to explain this abnormal behavior and how to get the form back to the builder?
    Thank you for your help.

    I did more research and found out that the form module that was missing is not in the table WWV_modules$. I am wondering why Oracle portal created such an inconsistancy. The module is still in wwa_modules$ table, but not in wwv_modules$ table. How did the record get deleted from wwv_modules$ table, but not wwa_modules$? I am the only user of this thing and I never delete this module. All I am doing is editing. Anybody has any ideas?

  • How to stop portlets from disappearing when invoked?

    Hi,
    I have a portal Application that contains 2 portlets from WSRP procuder.
    These portlets have IPC through a parameter.
    The first portlet is an LOV of client list, and the second portlet is a financial situation which takes the client as parameter.
    In my Portal Application, when I choose a client and click the button both portlets disappear and then reapper when the second portlet is refreshed with new data.
    How can i stop the first portlet from disappearing and reappearing when invoked.
    Thank you in advance

    Running 9iAS R2. When I log into portal as administrator the user portlet does not appear even the when I click on edit it shows as available. Portal user profile, Edit/Delete Group, and Portal Group Profile portlets all appear. How do I create a new portal user?
    Thanks.

    I got the same problem when I tried to change portal hostname. I edited httpd.conf and ran ptlasst.csh. User portlet disappeared. When I set old hostname the portlet appeared again.

  • Is there a portal 10g portlet for CMSDK?

    I am looking for a CMSDK Portal portlet for 9as 10g. Is there one available?
    Thanks.

    AFAIK, CMSDK does not come with a Portlet (iFS once did but after one or two clicks, you where out of Portal and in iFS' webui).
    As webui does not exist anymore, the portlet disappeared as well.
    I had a look at portal studio but there does not seem to be any contributions over CMSDK.
    If you have some exposure to the Portal Struts Provider, you might want to try to 'portletize' the webstarter application II as it is written in Struts. You will still need to arrange something about the upload and download part as it will not be supported by the PPE (Upload: PPE will not forward a stream to your portlet, Download, Portlet should only serve html content, no doc, pdf, ...).
    Hope this helps

    On the "Oracle Portal Navigator" page under the "Content Area" tab someone deleted the "Site" portlet. How do I add the "Site" portlet back to the page?
    I clicked on the customize page and tried to find the portlet to add but it is not listed. I then went to the portlet repository to see if it was expired or something but it was not there.
    There is a "Content Areas" portlet that lets you select the content area to go to, but the navigate button takes you back to the "Oracle Portal Navigator" page to the "Content Area" tab.
    The same thing happens when you go to the Admin section of a site and try to see the categories for that site. I can't edit my categories anymore.
    They point to "Oracle Portal Navigator" page showing the "Content Area" tab, which is no longer the site portlet.
    Any ideas?
    Jeff Dalgliesh
    PS I know its called the "Site" portlet because on A DIFFERENT portal server if I click the customize link on the "Oracle Portal Navigator" page under the "Content Area" tab that is the name it shows the Provider is "Oracle Portal" and the portlet is called "Site". IE "Oracle Portal: Site"

    Are you on the EA release? The production versions (3.0.6.6.5 and 3.0.7.6.2) specifically don't allow these portlets to be deleted.

    Either way, you can check whether the portlet instance exists by querying the WWPOB_PORTLET_INSTANCE_FLAT$ table. On the production release it is page_id=3 and portlet_id=23. If the row is not there, then you can reinsert it using the data from your other instance. The following statement worked on the production version:
    insert into wwpob_portlet_instance_flat$
    (ID,PORTLET_ID,PROVIDER_ID,PAGE_ID,REGION_ID,NAME,SEQ,USER_ID,INCLUDE,CONTENT_TYPE,CONTAINER_ID,IS_TAB )
    values
    (44,23,26644,3,69,'44_SITEEXPLORER_26644',
    2,'<BASE>',1,1,3,1)

    Sorry about the table not displaying properly but you can see the record.

    Jeff,
    Well, the row is still in the table which makes sense I guess. The UI doesn't let you delete the portlet from the page. The question is why isn't it appearing? Do you have any more input into what activity was going on prior to the portlet disappearing? I'm assuming that the portlet doesn't show up on the customize screen at all correct? The only way I can get it to not display is by unclicking the checkbox on the customize screen, but then it still shows up on the customize screen.

  • SetupStateChangeEvent() not working in pageflow

    I have a piece of code inside the begin() action like below. This code is working properly with a portlet backing file but a pageflow. I'm using 8.1 SP3.
    HttpServletRequest request = ScopedServletUtils.getOuterRequest(getRequest());
    PortletBackingContext context = PortletBackingContext.getPortletBackingContext(request);
    //context.setVisible(false) has been tested here,
    // it does cause the portlet disappear.
    //So context should be functional here.?
    context.setupStateChangeEvent(WindowCapabilities.MINIMIZED.getName());
    System.out.println("state becomes " + context.getWindowState().getName());
    This will output "state becomes normal". Anyone has such experience with pageflow? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    page flows run during the preRender method. This method is ony supported when called from handlePostbackData()
    you should look at the new IPC model (sp4) to perform a state change event from a page flow action

  • Alternatives to content area pages? URGENT!!

    Hi...
    I am implementing a site in Portal with a static navbar on the
    left side with links to folders... this navbar will remain
    static, the content that changes is in the rigth side..
    If I make a new page from scratch, including the navbar and the
    content area as portlets, when I click on a link on the left,
    the page banner and the other portlets disappear, and appears
    the content area page..... I read that the only way you can keep
    that page appearance is to customize the content area page
    itself.
    Are there any other ways to do this? (not depending of the
    content area page??)
    Please, I need help ASAP!!

    Not in the current release. The next release of Portal, planned
    for early 2002, will make this a lot easier.

  • Displaying header and border on a dynamic page passing parameters to a form

    I am using portals 10.1.4. and am trying to pass parameters to a form which appears as a portlet on a page.
    for this, dynamic page has been used to pass parameters to that desired form. my problem is this that when the form is displayed with parameters, the header and borders of the portlet disappear.
    The check-boxes for header and borders of the portlets on the page are checked. Yet, when for any reason, the parameters are not passed into the dynamic page, the header of the dynamic page and border are displayed. But when the parameters are passed and the form shows up, then the header and borders disappear.
    can anyone help me with the following:
    - is it the desired behavior?
    - how can i get the headers and borders reappear?
    thanks

    Any ideas fellows?
    how can we control the border and header of dynamic pages when a form or report is called from them with passed parameters?
    will appreciate any helpful experiences.

  • MOVE ITEM IN PAGE

    We use a page to manage a content area.
    When activating the checkbox
    "EDIT DISPLAY LINK" The portlet disappears.
    We have found a workaround for this problem
    using FOLDER portlets.
    In this folder portlet we have called the portlet.
    The EDIT link is now visible. A new problem is:
    When we want to move items (image or text) on this page,
    portal jumps to the contentarea where the items are held.
    We absolutely want to maintain the items in the page and
    not in the content-area.

    I used kCopyCmdBoss and kPasteCmdBoss command but it's not working because it needs only spread layer UIDRef not for page.

  • Refresh link...

    What does the refresh link on the Display Portlet Repository do? It seems like it just blindly delete portlets. I pressed it once as myself, and it ended up deleting all the internal Oracle portlets, and all the pages that were published to portal. Then as a test I published a page to portal. Then I went to the Display Portlet Repository, clicked on the Oracle Portal Pages link and I see the portlet. I press the refresh link, and the portlet disappears. Any ideas why?
    I see the link calls the wwsbr_portlet_folder.refresh package/procedure. Is there away to get the source code for this procdure? It is currently wrapped. It would be very helpful in figuring out why it?s not working.

    I was looking at the WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ table and I can see that at the time I hit the refresh link, I deleted all the Oracle built-in portlets.
    I found how to get these portlets back. I was correct when I said that for some reason the refresh link deleted all the Oracle Portal built-in portlets. To recover I had the DBA bring back the WWV_THINGS table in a different schema from a backup taken before the portlets were deleted. I used the WWLOG_ACTIVITY_LOG1$ table to select the portlets I deleted from the recovered WWV_THINGS table. Then took those selected records and inserted them into the production WWV_THINGS table. Now everything is back to normal.
    But any ideas on why the refresh link delete these portlets in the first place would be great.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Tabs Disappear when "Next" on a Report (shown as Portlet) on a tab page is displayed

    Posting Again for attention - Please let me know if this is not the right forum for it.
    I am working with the new Portal 3.0.8 version on NT.
    I have a Page with tabs and on one of the tab-page is a report (displayed as a portlet) that has a "Next" button at the bottom to show the other rows of the report. In the earlier version (3.0.7), when we clicked on this Next, we would get some JSP errors (discussed in the thread http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum81/HTML/000048.html )- this is fixed(?) in the new version (3.0.8).
    But - now when I click on the "Next" button, the entire tab region is replaced by the next set of rows of the report and the tabs disappear. The only way to get access to the tabs now is to hit the Back button of the browser.
    Has anybody else experienced this or is it me doing something wrong here ... would appreciate any/all response.
    Thanks.

    Are you sure? I still have that problem, and in their reply to
    my TAR Oracle filed a bug 1842058. Other similar bug numbers
    are: 1667269, 1799810, and 1747842.
    Their last comment was:
    "The bugs associated with this issue have been marked as fixed
    in then next version of Portal (9.x). This also obliviates the
    role of Support. If you would like to have this functionality in
    your version of Portal, then Oracle Support will require the
    following from you:
    1) A new TAR with the request to backport the functionality.
    2) A business justification for the backport request."
