Positive 2.0.2 Experience

Here are some positives I've noticed.
GPS location seems significantly faster. I used to get a GPS location maybe half the time in my upstairs office. Otherwise I would just get the cell location, or cell and 15 seconds later a GPS. Now I get a GPS right away.
Backup is faster than with 2.0.1. And, when I update an app on the phone, iTunes doesn't give me any errors or grief.
WiFi Network - joining a WiFi network is also near instant. There used to be a about a 10 second delay before displaying and joining a known network. Now its virtually simultaneous.
Generally more responsive. Apps respond quicker, screen change faster. Very pleased!

I absolutely agree with the points you've discovered. GPS seems definitely faster, stronger and responsive. It was almost impossible to get the GPS working indoors, even if I sit next to window but yesterday, in a cloudy British day, it worked just fine.
I have also noticed that the AppStore application is a lot more responsive. In addition, the general UI graphics are smoother, keyboard is more responsive, battery seems a bit better but it is too early to talk about this.

  • How to maintain year of experience required for a position?

    Hi All,
There is a very requirement for a position like "3 years of experience as Executive" I dont know how to maintain this requirement in SAP. Right now we have created a qualification named "Executive Experience" with a time scale assigned to it with a validity period of one year so HR dept must change the scale evey year. It works but it's not best practice. I know if there is a way we can use employee past and current work history to determine the level of experience and also how to define this requirement in position profile.

    Hi Dilek,
I maintained all those thing. But i have to do the selection process on the basis of position with year of experience. While doing the selection process via Position or Qualification its picking up the exact applicant. I created a career as 3 years as you said so that the minimum year of experience for that position is 3 years. Then where i can give the year of experience for the applicant? Even though i maintained the previous employer details as 2 years the system is picking up the applicant. Logic wise how to do this?
Please help me to sort out this problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    Magesh S.

  • Xperia Z1 main speaker position and is it worth to buy?

    Hey guys ...
I'd been a Sony fan since Xperia Play.
Owned Xperia SP and now favoring Xperia Z1...
I was a little suprised with the position of the speaker on Xperia Z1 because imma hardcore gamer(kind of).So i really need some good audio from the game but with the Z1's speaker grill down under,I could have easily covered the speaker when playing landscape mode and probably causing an awful sound.
I was also thinking about Xperia Z2 but its a little hefty with me still not working(i'm 16 haha).Even planning to buy Xperia Z1 is from my own savings(previous phone are sponsored by parents).
So how much does Xperia Z1's speaker position compromise the gaming experience?
    Should i buy Z1 ?
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • How do I get a smooth running product?

A few weeks ago I got a very friendly/positive  email from your company that told me because I was a loyal customer they offered me an upgrade to Xcelsius 2008/Crystal Reports Visual Advantage. Because I was very positive about my past experiences and I was enthusiastic that such a good firm as SAP was now behind it I choose to accept the offer. I had a lot of plans introducing the new tools to customers (something I had planned to do for sometime and now I was motivated to pick it up). That has cooled down.
I bought and downloaded the programs. Then I installed them. When I used Xcelsius I noticed that the diagram had wrong abbreviations along the axis (the K for thousand, M for million etc . was not right). I thought ok lets update the program. I found out that there was no update button and no simple procedure. I found links to websites that kept asking for passports. I registered 4 times on different sites and then I could download updates. I did not know which one I needed because I did not know which release I had. SP1? Fix 1? ??? I thought lets take them all. After downloading SP1 and starting install the SP1 removed my current installation and I had to restart installing SP1 and thereafter I also installed the 3  fixpackages on my PC.
I ran Xcelsius. The diagram did not have the problem anymore. But I found a problem with %. Do not know if that was there before the updating because I had stopped experimenting quickly after the start. When I had a % in the properties panel the values looked strange on the canvas: 001%, 0,05% in spreadsheet gave 0.001% on the canvas (value). The separation was not right and the figure looked strange. Maybe there is an issue with countries? I looked at the download site (https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1ubCZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm ) and saw that the language of the updates I installed was English. I had first installed Dutch when I bought it.
The biggest complaint is that I have to find everything out for myself. The support is not transparent and easy to use/find. Links to sites that are in the manual donu2019t work or are to old sites. I see old samples and videos. Dutch sites seem to be not used anymore. If I call someone here I get an answering machine and no one returns the call.  When I wanted to buy the upgrade I had the same experience with the resellers. Nobody knew anything and they did not return calls. This is in contrast with the goal of the programs: easy to use and understand. This instead is hard to use and find out for yourself.  I donu2019t even know what release I have. Maybe it is my fault?
I have the programs a couple of weeks but have not been able to work with them and get them running smoothly and without bugs. I spend 4 days now reading the manual and trying to get a correctly working version.  I do not even know if I have undertaken the right update procedure. For Chrystal Reports I have not undertaken the updates because I was afraid to run in new problems.
I use Excel 2007 and Windows XP.
I hope you can get me on the right path back to good results without painu2026

  • No complaints from me this time!

I just got off a long chat session with a Verizon CSR who was extremely helpful and patient with me and at the end, I was very happy to fill out a very positive review of the experience.  And now I understand the context of this pre-paid gift card and there *is* a reward for loyalty with Verizon, now that I understand it.  I didn't even realize before that you can renew your contract once it expires and keep the same rates as before so that way, your rates can't just go up at any time with the monthly plan.  Mine have gone up a little but I just renewed my contract and for the same rates with some nice discounts included, I'll be getting even faster Internet and download speed, more TV stations (?), and upgraded phone service.  Heck...now that's a great deal and I know for sure you can't get that from the cable companies!  And here I was thinking the whole time that a rate increase with Verizon was inevitable.  I guess there may be some increase in the contarct rate over time time but to get these nice upgrades at lower rates will make my estimated monthly bill a lot cheaper than what it is now (back to what it was before my last contract expired) once I am past the one time activation fee for the upgrade.  The savings overtime is worth it then.
I understand now that for the special offers, you can turn them all down, you can choose the gift card, or you can choose a free year's subscription to HBO or Cinemax.  In the context of all that, turning down the gift card would have been stupid for me to do.  In all reality if I can do what I want with it like applying the payment to my next bill or putting it in my bank account or using it for food shopping, then what's the harm in that?  I do apologize if I was sounding ignorant about that before but now that I understand it, it makes a lot more sense.  I read more informaton about it and it seems very much like a debit card, to be used wherever Visa debit cards are accepted with restricitons and security features and there is a way to report it if it's lost or stolen.
I know that we all have had bad experiences with some customer service reps before but overall, I don't think my experience with the customer service has been that bad overall and this last experience is actually an addition to some of my other positive experiences in the past.  It seems to me like these negative experiences with customer service over the phone can happen with any corporation and I have been there plenty of times to know that.  In the scheme of things, if a conversation with one of these reps over the phone goes over poorly, it's better for me to end the call and call back later.  Emails and live chats and shared sessions have been serving the same purpose equally well for me.
Verizon is a great product and I really appreciate the great job this last CSR on chat did for me.  Sometimes all it takes is that one person to explain everything and she wasn't insulting or rude in any way, shape, or form.
There is no way I will ever switch to cable, especially knowing what I know now.  I can't see myself switching over to a lower quality product from cable just because of some bad CSR experiences over the telephone.   I don't really undersand this idea of disconnecting all the service and then starting with Verizon all over again just to get a cheaper bill, now that I see that I just need to renew my 2 year contract each time it expires.  I didn't know that before but I know now.

  • Framemaker and Parallels for mac

(moving this over from another thread)
We decided to go with Framemaker and mac, and I'm using Windows Parallels 5 to make that happen on a virtual machine. This works well, for the most part, as it means I dont have to leave my native (mac) environment or my mac applications including (mail etc) notifications.
I am working with Framemaker 9 - creating DITA standard xml files for a help system.  So far the only technical glitch is - the edit/undo buttons are now grayed out - unaccountably.
If anyone has similar experiences - any solutions? My current Parallels 5 is up to date with recent updates.
    thanks,
    John

    Peter,
Thanks so much for your reply.  I tried your suggestions, but to no avail.  I then spent quite a bit of quality time with Adobe technical support, and they were very helpful, and got me on my way.  Just in case anyone else with similar issues should come across this thread I will describe some of the issues.
BTW - John, now that I have FM9 running, I have not experienced the nonfunctioning UNDO command that you described in the original post.  Sorry.  I will let you know if it occurs in a delayed fashion as yours did.
For anyone who just installed Parallels and then Windows XP, what I found out is that many of the components in XP are very old school.  Flash is way out of date, Explorer is, too.  This may impair the functioning of the extractor, I am not sure.  As a Mac user, some of these issues were foreign to me.  I just wanted to run Windows so I could use FrameMaker on my Mac.
First I had to update Flash, and to do this I downloaded the latest version of the FireFox-Mozilla web-browser (or you could update MS Explorer).
Once we had all of these components up-to-date, we were still running into problems with file extraction, and the Tech Support person had me load a program called WinRAR (google it) which seemed to be a more configureable extractor than the default one that comes with the FrameMaker download.  Using WinRAR we extracted the files into the Programs folder (once WinRAR was installed, the generic box icon for the extraction program changed to a normal looking icon).  This may all be possible using the default extractor, I just don't know.
And a final for-what-its worth: before going the Parallels route, I tried installing SheepShaver to run Classic on my MacBook Pro so I could continue to run my Mac copy of Frame v7.  SheepShaver may be OK for getting your old games and simple programs up and running, but it did not seem anywhere near stable enough to get something like FrameMaker running with a long document with graphics and cross references.
Final working configuration: FrameMaker 9 on Win XP SP2 on Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on a 17" MacBook Pro with Intel Core i7 processors (April 2010 model) and Parallels 5, 8 GB RAM. Seems to work so far, I have imported my old FrameMaker 7 Mac files (didn't even have to save them as MIFs!).  Now I need to relearn Frame in the "Parallel" universe of Windows.
Time spent monkeying around with SheepShaver, trying InDesign as a substitute for FrameMaker (close, but not close enough), downloading and installing Parallels/Windows XP and trying all kinds of tricks to get iFrameMaker running and then being on-hold/on-line with Adobe tech support: 16+ hours.
Getting FrameMaker running again on my main machine: Priceless!

    Hi, Mark:
I wish everyone keeps a copy of this post, so they could present your positive Adobe tech-support experience when someone posts a polar-opposite bad Adobe tech-support experience.
D'ja ever notice that you find something that you lost in the last place you looked? Because you don't need to look further, right? Glad you got a working combination.
I didn't have any special problems installing Parallels, Windows XP, and FrameMaker on my Mac (hardware and OS described in another post on this thread,) but I've been bi-platform for a long time. Actually, I began with Virtual PC on a much weaker Mac running OS 9 years ago, which I abandoned because of the poor performance, due almost entirely to the underpowered Mac. On my current Mac, I began with VMware's Fusion 2, then 3, but found it quirky enough to try Parallels5, which seemed smoother, and offered an inexpensive side-grade, followed by inexpensive deals to upgrade to Parallels 6.
I'm interested in what shortcomings you found with InDesign for your purposes. If you think not too many folks would be interested, please send private forum email by clicking on my name and looking for send private message.

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way; I mean it positively, from my own experience as a user and trainer: The "finer points" of difference between software products that seem to do similar things, are not trivial! My French teacher told us that there are some important rules, like, "All nouns that end in 'e' are feminine! (pause) EXCEPT..." and then he gave some of the many common exceptions.
X-number of years doing <whatever> usually means X-number of years doing what I've learned to do and what behaves as I've learned to expect to behave. Those solid lessons and habits sometimes interfere with seeing other possible approaches, techniques, and outcomes for the same starting points. It's terribly frustrating to find that your reliable tools aren't effective. If you ever were comfortable with driving a stick-shift car, then changed to an automatic-transmission car, think of how many times you were surprised and frustrated when you stomped your left foot onto a non-existent clutch, until you adjusted to your new environment.

Are you familiar with the concept of the Master Page? Master pages are like templates for pages. Put stuff on the master page, then any document page based on that master page will have those elements in place (but they will not be selectable without overriding). You can hover a loaded "Place Gun" over an empty master frame and click, and the ID will automatically override that frame and put the content into it.
Some people are comfortable thinking of a master page as a background that "shows through" on the document pages that the master is applied to.
By default, every new document starts with two master pages, [None], which is used when you have other masters and you need a page with no master items, and A-Master which is the default name for the default master page applied to any pages when you first create the document. It starts out blank, unless you've checked the box for automatic text frame in the document setup, then it will have a single text frame that fills the are inside your margin guides. If you've selected "Facing pages" in Document setup, A-Master will actually be a two-page spread (with the spine in the center) and any automatic text frames will be "threaded" from left to right across the spread so that you can "autoflow" text. Automatic text frames are NOT required in most cases and are often a hindrance rather than a help. Page setup, including dimensions, margins, columns, and bleeds, is all together in the document setup dialog when you first create a file (you are creating the margins and columns for A-Master), but not all pages need to have the same margins or column setup (nor even the same size as of CS5), so once a document is created, you'll find margin and column adjustments under the Layout Menu. Changing the basic page size is still found under the Document Setup command in the file menu, but adjusting the size of an individual page in CS5 is done with the Page tool.
A Book, in InDesign parlance, is a container for a group of document files that allows you to work on sections without having to scroll through one huge file and also allows for synchronizing colors, styles and even master pages across all the files in the Book. Individual documents may be included in more than one book, if you like, which allows you to multi-purpose documents.
For some users, the idea of a book as a container for a group of files, thinking of the book as a folder, is fine. But other users may be more comfortable thinking of a book as a list of file names that should be treated as a single group, and the instructions for paginating, and applying other properties to them.
Trust me, InDesign is a VERY complex bit of software, and you'll benefit immensely form buying Sandee's book or getting a subscription to Lynda, com.
I like to think of InDesign as a pretty straightforward software application, and that its sheer number - several hundred - of specialized "core" plug-in components is what makes it complicated. There's at least a bit of learning necessary to take advangage of each  of these "building blocks."
Please keep returning with your questions as you progress.

  • Macbook Pro & Mini Dispalyport Does NOT Support 10 bit Color Monitors

I am extremely concerned regarding Apple's Mini Displayport. Mini Displayport has been out for a year now, and is the video out port with the maximum signal output on Macbook Pro's. Apple's Mini Displayport still does not offer the compatibility and performance, that is possible with the standard Displayport implantation on Windows.
Case in point two monitors from NEC and Eizo, the NEC PA214W and the Eizo CG223W:
    http://www.eizo.com/global/products/coloredge/cg223w/index.html
    http://www.necdisplay.com/Products/Product/?product=5a6621b9-e9c4-4f02-8542-e625 1364bf7c
All current Macbook Pro's with Mini Displayport are unable to support the 10 bit color that these monitors are capable of. This is unacceptable, and an example of Apple leading customers to believe that Mini Displayport, offers the same capabillities and performance as Displayport.
It is my understanding that on paper MBP's with the NVidia 9400/9600 are capable of outputting a 10 bit signal. They just do not at this point in time, unlike all PC notebooks with Displayport. Mini Displayport has been sold by Apple as being every bit as capable only smaller than Displayport. The truth is it is not.
Apple notebooks can not currently produce the same level of quality on these monitors as Windows notebooks with Displayport that have also been on the market for a year now.
    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/newsarchive/19.htm#10-bitips

    Displayport:
    http://www.displayport.org/consumer/
    http://www.displayport.org/consumer/?q=content/faq
"Performance for a display interface is really bandwidth. So Displayport offers up to 10.8 Gigabits per second. That bandwidth can be allocated for greater color depth (more colors per pixel, i.e.. 30 bit color monitors), it can be allocated to resolution, i.e.. WQXGA , or refresh rate."
Note: The bandwidth has increased to 21.6 Gbps with the announcement of Displayport v1.2.
It appears to me that aside from the top of the line (Windows PC) notebooks, that the only systems that will currently be able to achieve 30 bit color with these monitors are going to be desktop systems with Displayport/Mini Displayport and the necessary GPU and Operating System. This is an example of the difficulty in getting accurate information when it comes to what a system can and can not do. Rod correctly pointed out that I was mistaken in saying that "all" PC notebooks with Displayport are capable of achieving 10 bit per channel output, some do not. As BSteely, Lewis, and Rod have discussed Mini Displayport is not what is responsible for the fact that Macbook Pros can not currently output 10 bit per channel signal. Displayport exists and allows for this capability, and I stand by my opinion that currently Macbook Pros with Mini Displayport do not implement the full Displayport spec, in particular the ability to output 10 bit per channel signal to 30 bit color monitors. On the PC side it is the "workstation" class notebooks that have had and continue to have this capability. There may be others, but in reviewing Dell, HP, and Lenovo I am only finding it in the Precision, W series, and Elitebook models. The latest T Series Thinkpads with Quadro GPU's may work as well. At this point, I am not going to research each and every model to determine exactly which notebook models and configurations will work, except to say none of them are Macbook Pros. The lesson here should be get multiple confirmations regarding your system's configuration and your intentions in its use. I was mistaken in my understanding that the MBP 17 with Mini Displayport would support the Displayport spec as it relates to 30 bit color monitors. I have stated what I think is wrong about that, but that is the way it is for now. Apple is not the only company to hype a technology, only to offer a limited implementation of it. "Vista Capable" comes to mind.

To end on a positive note, in my experience the last six months with my Macbook Pro, Apple has demonstrated it can resolve issues quickly and effectively, and I have been extremely pleased to the extent that they have worked with me to address the few significant issues that have come up, including a system replacement in quick order. This may or may not be something they will be able to address with the current Macbook Pros or even the next generation. We will see.

  • Sony X85C - Bravia Sync Issue with Samsung Homecinema and WD Live Box

Hello  I purchased the 2015 4k Sony TV X85c line, its the 55" with Model Nr: KD55X8507C (silver bezel). The latest Android TV version from mid July is installed and the TV is working fine - except for the interaction with my 2 other components:- a Western Digital Live streaming player box- a Samsung Homecinema HT-D6750W  I knew i could run into problems when mixing up brands, but the issue now is really bugging me: The Samsung homecinema is connected via the HDMI 4 ARC to the Sony TV. The Westen Digital is connected to the homecinema. All devices are HDMI CEC compatible, thus on the Sony I can see the other devices and even control them with the Sony remote - which "concept wise" is really neat, but something is failing.  It seems that the Sony trys constantly to switch between audio system (Samsung) and its own TV speakers when choosing how to deliver the sound. This somehow interfers with the menu dialogs of the Sony. As soon as I connect the Samsung Homecinema and go into the display menu to change image settings / modes it the menu will crash after some seconds (it just fades away). This does not happen when the homecinema is not connected, but then of course im missing the sound of my homecinema.  So there seems to be a certain interference and I assume it could be because of the constant audio switching between TV and audio system. I already tried to deactivate all HDMI-CEC features on the devices, but for the Sony TV's bravia sync its impossible to deactivate fully (the menu is just greyed and "on").  I'm getting some new and state of the art HDMI cables later this day, maybe this will bring a positive effect. Anyone experiences something similiar with the X85C range of products? Is there a way to handle it? ThanksAndre / xenom0rph

I "solved" the problem: Bravia Sync does not seem to be compatible with HDMI CEC / Anynet of the Samsung homecinema. I deactivated all HDMI CEC features on the samsung player and the WD TV Live box, and then the deactivation of bravia sync was possible on the TV. After that the issue with the menu crashes was gone. Now i try to get digital audio with optical to the samsung player. So i connected optical out from the Sony TV to the optical in of the player. There are different settings to be made in the sonys audio menu now which I'm still not sure what to do. It has different compression modes for the audio (auto 1, auto 2, pcm). PCM seems to work for most digital audio content, but i fear DTS is not supported by the Sony. I tried the XBMC Kodi Android App on the Sony TV and got digital audio on some movies, but not all of em....not sure if its an app or TV problem.  Oh well..for the moment i stay with the WD live streaming box which supports all audio formats and is connected via HDMI to the player, but its just a very slow cpu in there, so it would be cool to use the more powerful TV as streaming player.

  • Should I upgrade to OS X lion?

    From 1luckycat
About a week ago I looked into upgrading Snow Leopard to Lion. My wife did this, there were no issues and she's happy enough with it...uses iCloud and more. Checking these forums, I discovered a large number of updaters that were really unhappy. So I don't know if they are a large or small % of users, or just a very vocal bunch. What's your experience?  Thanx again for your time & interest.
I really do like OSX lion, and there has been very few issues in my installation. iCloud is probably the most problematic issue here. Today, just before this answer, I lost my entire adressbook on my Iphone. Just because I merged my real appleID account into the iCloud account I created from a mobileMe account some time ago. Puhh .. I got it back - luckily, but it costed me 4-5 hours of scratching my head in dispear. Losing all contacts on the phone is probably not a very good start of the weekend. I recommend using a brand new appleID account for iCloud - or an existing account that is not a mobileMe account. It is indeed very difficult to recommend upgrade since every configuration is different, and you could run into trouble that I can not foresee. I have had a few crashes, but most of them are probably related to my use of beta software and XCode. My experience in total is positive, but thats my experience.I really like the mission controle, it is very suited for developing.  I have installed on one MacBook Pro and one Mac Mini.

My reply to the original question:
When Lion first came out I  installed it over Snow Leopard on a Nov. 2009 MacBook Pro.
I am an experienced Mac user. I know how to do this correctly.
Before doing it I cloned my hard drive with Snow.
My first impression of Lion was that it was exactly the same as Snow Leopard except that some of SL's functionality had been taken away and some new features had been introduced of which I have no need.
Believing that if I wanted to keep on using the Mac OS I was going to have to get used to Lion, I kept on using it for about a month, but not liking it as much as SL. Being unable to use any of my old PPC applications I spent about $1,000 buying the newer versions.
The worst thing (out of many) was that over that month I was getting increasingly frequent system freezes requiring a hard start each time. These seemed to be building up and getting worse. I know all the usual routines for fixing such things but none of them made any difference.
Eventually instead of being a tool on which to produce my work, Lion was getting in the way. So I cloned back to Snow Leopard and spent time moving my most recent work back to Snow.
    Everything's good now.
I would not recommend using Lion for any serious business purpose.
I continue to follow some of these forums, and I notice a lot of new people coming into them who haven't used the forums before; many of these "newbies" are clearly high-end professional users who've never had any issues and never needed to come in here. Now I see a considerable number of them, flagging up the issues they are experiencing in Lion. They have no dots under their names and have earned no points in these forums, but from the way they describe their problems it's clear they are very experienced computer-savvy people.
That's my 10c. Feel free to have a different opinion, but don't feel you have to diss me.

  • IE 6.0 & Image maps

I have a simple page with only AP elements that works fine
    with IE 7.0 and Firefox.
My menu is comprised of AP elements with an image and an
image map on it. Simple Show/Hide Elements and Swap Image
    behaviours do the trick.
However, IE 6.0 users report this: They see the visible APs
when the page load but not the image map (their cursor doesn't even
switch to a hand when they hover) so nothing works.
At Browser Compatibility I found the Z-index bug and fixed it
by applying Z-index to all elements. IE 6.0 still ignores the image
    maps though.. Why?
    Thank you in advance.

PS: All I am getting as errors is these two lines in the
    default.css "div {unicode-bidi:bidi-override;}
span {unicode-bidi:bidi-override;}" which result in an
    Unsupported property: unicode-bibi
Is this related and frankly, what is it?

    > What exactly do you mean I am on the wrong foot already?
    1. Your home page contains no readable text. This is usually
    regarded as
an SEO blunder. Devoting the time and effort to create such a
    page is
really a waste, as it presents one more hurdle between your
    visitor and the
information they seek - they will bookmark the inner pages,
    and never see
this page again. And it's a waste of your most valuable SEO
    tool - the home
page. With no readable text, it cannot be adequately spidered
    by the SE
    bots.
    2. You have used the unicode-bidi style in your stylesheet.
    Are you sure
you need that? Read this to see what it does -
    http://www.blooberry.com/indexdot/css/properties/intl/unibidi.htm
    3. Your entry page, being all graphics, doesn't suffer from
    text resizing.
This is good an bad. It's good in the sense that since you
    have used only
absolute positioning, you will not experience the usual
    problem with text
content resizing. It's bad in the sense that I explained
    above, and also in
an accessability sense - those who need to resize the text to
    read the page
will not be able to do so. In other words, you have lost
    accessability on
    this page.
In general, using absolute positioning as a primary layout
    method is a big
    mistake. Read this -
