Possible to add custom menu options to Reader?

Hi,
My proof of concept project involves investigating the capabilities of Adobe Reader to allow customized menu options and functionality to be added to it.
What we hope to do is create a PDF using the LiveCycle services which will then be viewed online by a user through Adobe Reader. If possible, we'd be looking to add a customized menu with one or two options to send requests back to our server. Is such functionality possible using Adobe Reader 9?
So far, I've read of a Customization Wizard and a Plug-In API that seem to allow for such extensability. However, would these customizations have to be installed separately client-side on top of Adobe Reader ? As this project will affect a couple thousand of users we hope to be able to invoke functionality provided by the basic Adobe Reader without additional client-side configuration. (Also, Adobe Reader Extensions is not an option for this project.)
Is this possible, or what are our options?
Thanks,
Ray

I've done some more investigation into this and can see that the JavaScript for Acrobat API contains capabilities that allow customized menu options to be added, and Web Services to be invoked from Adobe Reader.
However, I've been unable to locate how this JavaScript is deployed. Is it embedded within the generated PDF or is it configured on a client-side Reader application?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.

  • How to add custom menu options in myaccounts module?

    Hi experts,
    To implement this, I have found myaccount.xml file in UI of myaccounts module. In this file, I found only menu headings but not menu options. Can anyone explain where data of menu options were populated from and how can I add my custom menu options? I also have tried to delete the menu heading but there was no effect. Please help!! I'm on WEC 1.0.
    Regards,
    Daro

    Hi Daro,
    the path to the billing module is "sap.com/wec/ecom/mc/billing". But nevertheless
    1.  you need only to enhance in your current modul the metadata.xml file with the link to your own myaccount.xml which you can create.
    2. and then you can define within the new file the menu options you need.
    3. the last step is to update your shop configuration with the new menu options.
    Best regards,

  • In IMovie11, is it possible to add a menu page with options such as PLAY, SCENES, TRAILER, etc

    In IMovie11, is it possible to add/create a menu at the beginning of the movie with options like PLAY MOVIE, SCENES, TRAILER, etc..

    *I found a solution. HP owes me $20,000 in consulting fees.*
    To print to a LaserJet 3600 or 2600 from a newer Mac using 10.6, you must do the following:
    Step 1: Install Foomatic HPIJS drivers
    Step 2: Get an AirPort Express or equivalent print server
    Step 3: Connect the printer via USB to the print server, and connect
    Step 4: Go to Print & Fax, then click the + button to add a printer
    Step 5: Select HP Jetdirect - Socket for the protocol
    Step 6: Enter the IP address of the printer server, followed by a colon and the port number (9100 or 9101)*, i.e. 1.2.3.4:9100
    Step 7: Name the printer, then click on the Print using: drop down menu
    Step 8: Select the Select Other Printer..., and choose the appropriate HPIJS driver.
    * To determine the correct port, open Network Utility in the Utilities folder. Click on Port Scan. Type the IP address of your print server, then check the Only test ports between... and enter 9100 and 9101. It will report back the open TCP port.

  • Add custom menu to Adobe Bridge

    Is it possible to add a custom menu item to Adobe Bridge to call the Liquify Interface?
    Currently Photoshop CC 2014 is not able to load the liquify interface through and action or script

    You should be able to do it through an action. I do. Just make sure that you have a raster layer selected.

  • Customizing menu options in Navigator

    Dear all,
    One quick question. How do we customize menu options in the Navigator Window ?
    e.g. I wish to display a different 'About' information in Help Menu. How can we do that ?
    Jay

    We are planning to use OHJ for help deployment in an applet as part of a networking equipment. Is there any restriction on use of OHJ as part of a commercial application? Any licensing/legal issues?
    I'll be grateful if this can be clarified.

  • Disable or Hide Online Support menu option from: Reader, Acrobat Standard and Pro XI 11.0.2

    Hi,
    I'm trying to make a custom installation for 3 applications: Adobe Reader XI 11.0.2, Acrobat Std. and Pro XI 11.0.2  and most of the options that I wanted to hide are done with the Customization Wizard but I can't hide Online Support. I didn't found yet any FeatureLockDown for this option so far. So our users can still use the Online Support options.
    Notice that I tried to drop a script into: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\Javascripts   but when you 1st open the application it has a delay and somehow you still can access it. But if you try to open it again the menu is hidden.
    //HideMenu.js
    //Help - Online Support
    app.hideMenuItem("OnlineSupport");
    But a FeatureLockDown on HKLM hive will be the best way to disable this option as users don't have access to this registry hive and some advanced users with more rights could be able to delete the .js file if they know where it is saved.
    I will appreaciate your help to get this FeatureLockDown option if it exists or an alternative way.
    Thanks as usual and Kind regards everyone.
    Derspinne.

  • Add custom menu styles to the Pop-up Menu Editor

    I have tried using the instructions that Adobe gives me to do this but it doesn't work. They tell me to save a style library in the "Menu Bars" folder. I searched my computer and I only have one Menu Bars folder. The path is Adobe Fireworks CS5/Configuration/Common Library/Menu Bars. All of the files in there are .png not .stl. files.
    I want to have a custom parchment background for my pop-up menu. Has anyone done this and can you please tell me how to do it on a Mac.
    Thanks,

    Frankly, I wouldn't waste my time. The pop up menus in FW are old code and a real mess to deal with once the menu has been exported. There are far better resources out there, from the Spry menus in DW, to commerical products from Project Seven.

  • Possible to add "Open With " option to Spotlight?

    When I do a search in Spotlight, it brings up a list of files. I do show all, then right click on an item. It shows "open"... "get info"... "reveal in finder"... etc. Is there a way to add an "open with" option, lets say with a plugin or shareware of some sort? Word documents always default to the Microsoft Office Test Drive program, which I do not intend to buy. I want these to default to an older version of Office I have, but it can't be done in Spotlight, and even in "get info", I cannot make a permanent change to have Word documents open with a prior version of Office.
    Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

    Matt, is there any reason to keep the Test Drive installed on your machine? If you remove that then I'd think the documents would open with the older version once again.
    As far as your actual question goes, I don't know of any way to add an 'open with' function, but on the other hand I don't know my way around Spotlight all that well -

  • Adding Custom Filter Options for Newsfeed Web Part

    Hi,
    In OOB feature the newsfeed web part shows filter options for Following, Everyone, Mentions, Activities and Likes. Is it possible to add custome filter options to this web part?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    It seems that there is no OOTB options which allow to add more filters in the newsfeed web part.
    But we have many methods to retrieve the social feeds and you can filter them in the way you like. To know more about how to get feeds, the following link should be a good start.

  • Add custom command in the context KM menu

    Hello All,
    Wanna know if its possible to add custom command in the KM context menu?
    If yes, please guide as to how can I do this....
    Example: Print option in the context menu
    Awaiting Reply.
    Thanks & Warm Regards,
    Ritu

    Hi Ritu,
       Yes, you can do that.
       First of all, you should identify the layout set that you are using. If you do not know it you can enable debugging setting option.
       Then, you must know where you need to appear this command. I mean, in a folder, link or document.
       If you are using a standard layout you should not modify it, you must duplicate it (you ca use advance copy).
      The command must be added in a group command, you can use an exist command or create a new one. (System Administration-System Configuration-KM-CM-User Interface-Command Groups). Before that you can create your command.
    These groups are referenced from collection and resource renderer. A layout set is a set of collection and resource rendeders.
    You should read this link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/98/dd48a9b4a197489a54187c99372bce/frameset.htm
    Once you added your comamnd a group and assign this group in your collection or resource renderer. You have to assign this layout to your km navigation iview or directly the folder.
    Don't forget to enable presentation service in your repository in order to change the layout.
    Patricio.

  • Spark ButtonBar is it possible to add a "custom" button?

    Either is it possible to add custom ButtonBarButton components to a spark ButtonBar?
    For example:
    <s:ButtonBar>
    <s:ButtonBarButton />
    <s:ButtonBarButtonWithImage />
    <s:ButtonBarButtonWithChildren />
    </s:ButtonBar>
    Or create a ButtonBarButton with children - like a Menubar?
    P.S: I could use the MenuBar, but there isn't a spark version. I would need a style customization.

    I've tried your component. It will be very helpful.
    I have a doubt (I think it's about List component):
    Considered I'm using a vertical layout with one MenuBar (height = 40 ) and one Container below. When, the user mouse over any menu item the submenu is displayed over the container, even the submenu has more than 40 of height  - like absolute layout.
    How the submenu is added to the layer - over the container (it didn't respect the vertical layout ?!)  (I didn't find in the SDK sources.)
    How the x and y is setted since the layout is vertical?
    Where can I get more information?

  • Dynamic custom menu

    Hi all,
    I have a custom menu with a step that should open an input schedule.
    Therefore I added a OPENWEBFILE action in the EV_DEFAULT sheet.
    The path linked to this step should change according to a dimension of the current view.
    For instance,
    -if DIMENSION=XX, the path should be INPUTSCHEDULES/XX/filename.xlt
    -if DIMENSION=YY, the path should be INPUTSCHEDULES/YY/filename.xlt
    I found a way to do it, but the formula is not refreshing when I change the current view, and the custom menu always open the same input schedule. The only way to refresh it is to go back to the EV_DEFAULT sheet and click on ETools, CustomMenuManager, Test Current Worksheet: this is something that a user is not allowed to do.
    Do you have any idea about this? What could be a possible solution? Maybe a macro with an EV formula that refreshes the custom menu?
    Thanks for your help

    Please enable the custom menu in BPC administration console and use the Open Custom Menu option in BPC for Excel to open the appropriate custom menu. Please check here whether the custom menu is refreshed or not. Test Current Worksheet is supposed to simulate this and test the custom menu before enabling it in the BPC administration consol.
    Custom menus already have macro functions included in it. Please try to utilise those macros when necessary, instead of building new ones.
