I would like to add a realtime peak meter system to my EqAPO GUI's.
Peak meter should be able to
- read the peaks from system audio output (as does here in an example:

- show the result realtim (few ms delay from reads) in GUI without disturbing the usage of GUI.
I transferred the example code (above link) into Forms project and then tried to get it work using background worker (peak reading + simple box drawing/painting to certain location of GUI) but, maybe I don't know how to deal with that component
since GUI ended up waiting the thread ending (peak meter is in infinite loop :)) --> problem is how to get the peak meter thread just live its own life there ? I had all the peak meter functionality in ::DoWork() and also was ::RunWorkerCompleted()
in use. As the GUI has lots of things ongoing when something's been changed (slider move/value updating, chart drawing, file writing) I don't want to make it sticky so putting the GUI functionality in peak meter loop maybe isn't possible (I have not tried
this though).
Could it be possible/easier to make it working by prepareing a peak meter control, which reads the peak values and shows results graphically)?

While I'm sure you could make it work with background worker, I think you'd be better off using a separate thread for interacting with audio and using the Invoke method to update the GUI when needed.

How to close open cursors in a forms app

All,
I'm not a forms developer. I'm a database administrator so I'm asking this question from that perspective. I know nothing about forms development.
We have several forms applications that appear to hold many SELECT cursors open when they run. I've asked my forms developers about this and they are giving me the idea that they don't have much control over this. I have no idea myself so I'm asking here.
When one issues selects from a form, do those selects remain as open cursors while the form runs? Is it possible to close those select cursors from within the form so that the application does not keep so many cursors open simultaneously?
I am typically seeing a forms application with 70-100 open cursors. And we have hundreds of end users each running the forms application which is causing a lot of problems with the sheer number of open cursors.
I've already bumped the database OPEN_CURSORS parameter but it's my feeling that developers should be doing a better job of closing cursors from within the form.
Can anyone give me some guidance here or point me to some documents that describe how to reduce the number of open cursors to the database from a forms app?

There are several ways Forms use cursors. In the standard default method, users enter a query where condition and then execute the query. This process opens a cursor on the server, and the form fetches a few (20 or so) rows and displays on the screen (in a base-table "block"). If the user scrolls down, more rows are fetched from the cursor. This can go on and on if the user keeps scrolling down through the data. I am not sure when the cursor gets closed -- there is no Forms command to close this one. Only closing the form, or else re-executing the query process would close such a cursor.
In the PL/SQL code, where the developer has control, a cursor can be opened, rows fetched, and then closed. This can be done either with Open-Fetch-Close or in a For... Loop. The developer can explicitly close this cursor, or PL/SQL theoretically closes the cursor when the block of code is exited.
There is of course the SQL Select into, but that only works in PL/SQL for single-row selects. I doubt this is a major problem.
And finally, there are the record groups, where Forms runs the select to draw all the data into an array in the form. These should be closed automatically, I believe.
Now... if you can determine which tables the cursors are remaining open, maybe your developers can zero in on the forms, and maybe clean up some things. However, I am doubtful much can be done. It seems to me that if the open cursors are causing some database sluggishness, then maybe adding more memory on the server is the best option.

I already have windows azure account, made my database, BUT don't know how to connect it to my Visual Studio 2010/2013 (which is more preferable?), and if I ever connect it when my Windows Form is made can it run on the cloud also, how? Please help. Thank

same time? Can you tell me how? Or give me a source how to do it? I downloaded the azure tools but I don't how to use it. I checked and tried activating and fixing my IIS and enabling support for ASP but still nothing, when I try to do cloudservice it says
"get azure tools" even though I already have it installed in my laptop, and when I try to right click and upload the project to azure I don't see the usual option 'Upload to Microsoft Azure'. My app is a simple phonebook app with add, edit, delete and search

Is it possible to create a form with multiple form fields on a single line? I can't find anything in the documentation or a template that does this.
I am trying to create a "documents received" checklist with a check box on the left margin, a date-received field to the right of the check box and and a description of the document (Formatted Text) on the far right.
In the past I have entered the Fixed Text with a word processor, published it to a PDF file, then added the check box and date fields with the Acrobat Forms editor. I would prefer to use FormsCentral if it is possible.

We now support multiple fields on one line. This post provides a brief overview.

yes. But I would recomend using Icloud. If you have purchaed the app or ownloaded it you can serch it on any of your other devices app store and you will se a different icon where the download button is suposed to go. Like a cloud. Click it and you will get it.

I originally had the app (FilmOn.TV) on my iPhone, so it is backed up in my iTunes on my PC. It's no longer available in the App Store and I would really like to have it on my iPad. When I read up on this, it seems to say that if I sync any apps from my iTunes onto my iPad, that any Apps currently on the iPad will be deleted.
Can anyone tell me, please, is it possible to bring one single App across onto my iPad, without losing all of my existing ones.

You can hide them via your computer's iTunes : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
The 'x' might not show on their top left corner (it might be invisible), but clicking where it should be should hide the app.

If you're just looking to export a single row via CSV, then yes, you can add that functionality to your Form page in any release of APEX.
Have a look at a blog post I made quite some time ago:

There are two possible form types that you can add to your website. One is using a 3rd party form provider that, when filed in and sent, goes directly to you. Expamples of them, JotForm and Wufoo can be seen here: Add Form
Further down that page is the second type, Form action forms, that use the visitors email application to send the response. That may put off responders. Take a look at both types.

Is it possible to display Oracle form as a region in OAF page something like a master detail relationship such that Master information is displayed in OAF UI but detail information below is displayed in Oracle forms?Is there a tag that lets one do that specific for Form.
One way could be do to embed applet in OAF page which would call and display oracle form but not sure if using javascript/applet in OAF would violate OAF coding standards or create some session management issues.

Thanks for your reply.I have seen an implementation that uses Adf and able to display form on same page as in inlinefraame in .jspx page using inlineFrame tag
