Possible to incorporate motools js into iWeb via HTML snippets?

I have a pretty media rich site, with plenty of quicktime files. Unfortunately I don't like the iWeb/HTML standard of viewing Quicktime movies in the browser as it slows down page load times and/or requires a lot of unnecessary and redundant page building. Instead, I use a javascript built on motools to do an overlay view of a quicktime file (similar to how many trailers appear at quicktime.com). The problem with this however is that I have to do ALOT of manual HTML editing after I "publish to folder". Does anyone know a streamlined way of achieving this from within iWeb so that I can ideally use "publish to mobileme" and be done with it?

similar to how many trailers appear at quicktime.com
you may like to rethink, you can implement presentation effects with Lytebox and Shadowbox without mootools.
I had not good luck with mootools.js because some conflicts with prototype.js - prototype is part of iweb javascript framework/lib.
Lytebox and Shadowbox can be implemented entirely in iweb without other framework/lib, post editing and can be done in iweb albums/photos page:

q: how are you with javascript? DOM? and iweb?

  • Embed iCal into iWeb through HTML snippet after Lion OSX update

How do I embed my published iCal calendar into iWeb through an HTML snippet AFTER the Lion OSX update last month? I use iWeb to create my classroom website but it no longer has my interactive calendar for my students. Help!

I am curious about this too, does anyone know how to embed a Lion iCal Calendar into iWeb?
I found an old walkthrough of how to do it, but on the published site it just opens ical and offers a subscription, you cannot actually see the calendar on the web page it is embedded on.
    Thanks!

  • IWeb: Twitter HTML Snippets Don't Work

For several months, I've used iWeb (most up-to-date version) to host my personal website. It is jonathankeilholz.com. This morning, I realized that my Twitter snippets were no longer showing - neither when in preview nor when published. The YouTube ones work, but the Twitter ones do not.
The first time I noticed it was yesterday (11 June 2013). I tried multiple times to copy and paste the Twitter widget HTML codes and other options. Nothing worked.
    Any thoughts? Thanks!
    Jonathan

    Hello,
I used the HTML code from Twitter's website. I'm still not having any luck.
When I copy and paste the HTML snippet, the result is a blue hyperlink that says "Tweets by JDKeilholz."
UPDATE: I tried other widgets and it seems the same thing is happening regardless of it being from Twitter.
    Bizarre!

  • Adding my google map via HTML snippet not working

I have made my own site where I added a google map. It has worked for some time (oddly enough only for people who use browsers other than explorer), but recently is not functioning right.
I can embed my google map using the HTML snippet function and it seems to work fine. But when I go to the site I see a picture of the google map, but it is not interective and all the info I have added is not there.
I have to say that iweb is really querkey. I had to tell it at least 7 times to connect to a different file and each time it connects to an old file. in the end the entire page had to be rebilt before it understood what I was asking it to do.
It would be nice if it just worked the way it is advertised to work.

IT seems to work now. I just had to let it think for half a day.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Iweb 2008 HTML snippet scrollbox not recognized

    Hello-
I recently upgraded to OSX 10.5.6 and put this code in the snippet box and it works within iweb '08 but isn't recognized when I publish it.
I have a .mac account that seems to have automatically changed into a "me" account.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    <iframe src=
    "http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebiframe2.html"
    style="width:780px; height:350px;
    border-width:0px;
    border-color:#990033;
    border-style:solid;"
    scrolling="auto" >

Can you post the code you are using so that we can see what the problem is?

  • Add a favicon to iweb via the HTML snippet...how?

Is there a way to add a favicon to iweb via the HTML snippet?
My search on google has found many ways to do it by editing the published files, but this is more work than it is worth (since it needs to be done on every new publish).
    Any ideas?
    thanks
    bob

    bob:
There's been no way to add a favicon via HTML snippet that I've found. Using TextWrangler which can do multi-file find and replace doing it the old fashion way, post publication editing, is a little easier as described in Old Toad's Tutorial #22 - Adding a Favicon to Your Web Site.

  • Can i enter php code into html snippets?

I am an sql/php newbie ... and have my site hosted by a company which offers me sql and php hosting (unlike dotmac I understand) ...
I have created an sql database on their server and have written a page in html/php to display the results of a simple search ... can I insert this into iweb page using snippet - as I have tried and get a page cannot be displayed message where the snippet box would be on the webpage. (you can see this by clicking on the guestbook link on www.antandcleopuss.com)
I am wondering if iweb can insert php or if it is only html?
If iweb doesn't like php inserts then I will have to export my pages to a folder, then open them in a text editor to insert the php there?? (seems like an awfully long way round)
    Any help gratefully received
    ant

You can add PHP code AFTER publishing the webpage.
Then change the extension to .php.
Here's a page the explains how to do it. It's not PHP specific but the routine is the same.
    http://web.mac.com/wyodor/Ajax/
Of course you can add a PHP page to the HTML Snippet with an iframe.

  • Possible? Recreate my original Homepage pages into iWeb but retain old URL?

I have Tiger in the box and still have to install it.
I just bought iLife '06 today and will install it after installing Tiger.
I already have a .Mac homepage up — created with Homepage Manager.
I am thinking now that I would like to recreate that original homepage but do it with iWeb.
How do I end up with my original homepage pages all re-done into iWeb templates but retain my original .Mac homepage URL? All my friends know that URL. Could someone please explain?
    — Lorna in Southern California

Well really it's not OR but AND. If you want to do away with your old >homepage-style pages and send people to your iWeb pages via the old URL, >then you must put the redirect on the old pages.
Or you could leave the old pages up but add a link that says "Here's my new homepage..." or something like that...
Hi... I see you live in Florida — and hope you are not in any of the traditional hurricane paths!
I think that I want to start copying/recreating my Homepage pages into iWeb pages and accept that I will have a new URL someday in the near future (because I intend to do the copying as fast as I can and not stop). I can send a notice out and change a few other things. However, I have questions for that interim time when I am working on the iWeb pages but not finished with them.
While I am working on iWeb pages, I am given a new URL, right? And thus, I would at that point have two URLs with .Mac. Is that possible? As I see it, the first URL would be the one I have now, which is the address of my present .Mac Homepage Manager Homepage. And the second URL, wouldn't it be the URL of the iWeb pages? That's possible???
I understand the concept of having a redirect page from my original Homepage ultimatly to the new iWeb page, but is it an automatic redirect or one which the viewer can activate if he wants to? I would not want a redirect page to quickly, blindly switch a visitor from the old Homepage to the new iWeb pages which are incomplete.
I don't understand the mechanics of URLs. I don't know what a Redirect Page looks like or how it works and I don't see how I could be working on my new iWeb pages with its new iWeb URL, all the while leaving my present Homepage alone, viewable by visitors with ITS OWN URL.
    [several minutes passed]
And now that I have sat here and thought for several minutes, it seems that the easiest thing to do would be to have no redirect page for a while. All that I ask in that case is: Is it possible to do that? Is it possible to have my old/present Homepage viewable while I am working on my iWeb pages?
I think I just solved one of my questions all by myself. If I begin to work on iWeb I will be given a new URL — an iWeb URL. Thus technically, when I Edit and Publish in iWeb, technically, people could view those pages, but chances are they will not if I don't announce the new iWeb URL to them. OK. I see......
I am asking all of this now because I am the type that needs to envision and understand a project from start to finish before I start. I do not like surprises — and cyber surprises have the ability to unsettle me.
Could someone please realign my erratic thoughts? Are my goals possible? Can I have my present .Mac Homepage Manager Homepage viewable and visitable while working away on copying them to my new iWeb site? (I bought iLife '06 yesterday and will install it and Tiger today. Tiger first and iWeb'06 second, as instructed.)

  • Is it possible to get published to folder files back into iweb?

    Hello,
I have created a website in iweb and published it to a folder and to my .mac account. I have recently closed down my .mac account so I could reopen one with my new business name. In the meantime I have upgraded to Leopard which deleted my iweb application.I have got another copy of iweb but now when I open iweb it does not automatically open my website up. Does anyone know if it is possible to open my old website which I have Published to a folder in iweb so I can publish it to my new .mac site?
If i click on the html files in the folder it runs like the website but from that folder only. All the work is there I just can't find out how to get it back on the net.
Please help so I don't have to spend weeks re entering all the files back into iweb one by one!
    Thanks

You can upload your website files by drag and drop to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites to get your website up and running.
To be able to publish changes you will have to do a search for the original domain.sites2 file and drop this into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
If you can't find it, then rebuilding is your only option. This is frustrating but doesn't take too long if you copy and paste all your text, images etc from the published files to your new iWeb pages.

  • Incorporating html site into iWeb

As a newcomer to iWeb I’d be very grateful for some advice on incorporating html pages. I realise I can add html snippets, but even a fairly simple addition introduces complications. When iWeb creates a completely plain page, call it xxx.html, it generates a fairly substantial set of image, css and js files in the accompanying xxx_files folder. If a snippet also comes with its own supporting files, is there a simple way of adding them without tortuously editing the html by hand?
In fact what I really want to do is to include a more substantial site without recreating it page by page. For example, I have built a family tree site which so far I have only burned onto DVDs to hand out to other family members. There is an html Cover Page which links to other files in a Records folder. Within this are other folders, one of them containing the images that appear on the cover, the rest containing subordinate html files which in turn link to other images or to yet lower level html files and so on.
Is it possible to transfer all this in one go so that I can incorporate the Cover Page as one of my iWeb pages and then have that connect to the rest of the site so that it will show up in the same way it does on the computer or on the DVD?

If the original site is still online you might be able to embed it into an iWeb page like in this demo page: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page. That way visitors can go to the original site without leaving your new iWeb site.

  • Importing eBlogger into iWeb Blog...

    Good Afternoon,
Is it possible to import previous blogs from eBlogger into a blog made with iWeb? Would like to keep what I've done previously, but, from what I can tell, this may not be a viable option.
Would love your input on this...can it be done? Is it worth it?
    Thanks...
    TMCinDC

No, you can't incorporate anything into iWeb as it has no import facility.
The best you can do is display your eblogger blog in iWeb using iframe code - place the code into an html snippet and people can scroll the site within your iWeb site.
Other than that, there is nothing that can be incorporated into iWeb.

  • I have been trying to import VHS video into iMovie via a Hollywood Dazzle bridge.  Did not have trouble until I upgraded to mavericks.  I have a mac book pro, 10.9.1, iMovie 10.0.2.  Says it is recording, but when I go to check, it says the file is empty.

I have been trying import VHS video into iMovie via a Hollywood Dazzle bridge.  I have been successful doing this in the past, but now it is not working.  I have a mac book pro, 10.9.1, (mavericks), iMovie 10.0.2.  Everything in iMovie looks like it is working.  It reads "recording" in the upper left hand corner of the pane while the video is playing.  When I stop the process to check on my clip it says that the file is empty.  The only thing that has changed since I did it successfully is that I upgraded to mavericks from whatever I had previously.  My system is about one year old.  Any suggestions?

    Hey, Clinton,
Thanks for your help!  I was able to go to iMovie 9.0.9 and import video.  I was still curious as to why it didn't work in version 10.0.2, so I contacted Apple tech support.  They were't sure at first as to why it wouldn't work, so they had me delete iMovie 10.0.2 and then re-install it just to see if something had gone wrong when it upgraded.  That didn't change anything.  In the end, they determined that 10.0.2 doesn't support the Hollywood Dazzle DV bridge.  But I have a workaround path from them that I will share so that it's possible to import to 9.0.9, then move it to 10.0.2.
         1.  Open iMovie 9 (finder/applications/iMovie 9.0.9
         2.  Import from Dazzle Bridge to iMovie 9, note which event you are importing the clips into
         3.  Close iMovie 9
         4.  Open iMovie 10 (probably in the dock)
         5.  File/Import Media...navigate to home(this was my name, on the left side of iMovie, under Favorites)/Movies/iMovie events.  Find the event folder that contains your Dazzle clips (tip-try sorting by date modified to look at recent events.)
         6.  Select the clips and import.  Click the blue "Import Selected" button on the bottom right.
You may get a message that some files cannot be imported.  Click continue import.  It's a little glitchy.  It imports your clip, and also makes a copy of it, too.  On the copy, the audio is normal, but the video is choppy.  In any case, you would delete the copy, anyway.
Hope this additional information helps somebody else.  Thanks again, Clinton for helping me!

  • I am trying to edit my website which was composed in iweb. I have my website saved on my hard drive. When I open iweb, I can't seem to load the website folder into iweb for editing purposes. Anyone know a quick solution to this?

I am trying to edit my website which, was composed on iweb about 2 years ago. I have the website stored on my hard drive. When I open iweb, I can't figure out how to load the website into iweb for editing purposes. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You need to migrate to a modern, supported webpage development application and leave iWeb behind.  It hasn't been supported for 2 years now and was behind the curve feature wise when it was dropped by Apple.
One app that many have migrated to because it is very similar to iWeb in the GUI and features is Everweb.  It has a demo version that you can try.  Text and photos from you current published site can be copied and pasted into Everweb to help the migration over.
There are other possible candidates.  Just search the iWeb forum for "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement" to get a list of topics discussing them.

  • How can i import my old website into iweb

    hi,
my harddrive crashed and I lost all my data. When I set up OSX for new I downloaded my website (www.et-voila.net) from my ftp and I wanted to import to i-web. But I found no possibility do this.
How can I work on my old (i-web made) Website with my new i-web (i-web '08)? There must be a possibility!!
    thanks for your help

"iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up."
