Possible to sync E71 with Mac?

Hi
I just started using an Apple MacBook, and I was wondering, if it is possible to sync my E71 to the calendar and contact functions in my Mac as I use to do with my old PC via PC suite.
Also, if it is possible - should I use the Entourage program (part of the Microsoft Office package) or the address book / calendar function within the Mac?
Kind regards
lnormann

Yes you can
I have synced my E71 with a iMac desktop OS 10.5.8 Leopard using iSync via Bluetooth, integrates seamlessly with iCal and Contacts.
You may need to download the iSync extension on the Nokia website.
Hope this helps

The only button that says iphone which is on top right only asks if I want to eject and then disapears when sync finnishes. I can not see any other way of showing a side bar view and i can not access any way of controling the sycn service. It seems to be syncing calander but not my contacts. Have I missed something?

  • PC user wanting to sync everything with .mac

I'm a PC user switching to mac. At this time I have a .mac account. I also own an iPhone.
Here it is- I am trying to:
    1. Basically, I want to sync ALL of the information I have on Microsoft Outlook (contacts, calendar, etc.) with .mac (if it's possible). Of course I have had no trouble with getting email on the iPhone.
    2. Is it possible in this early stage of switching from PC to mac - to just sync my iPhone with .mac from the internet - or will I have to go on using Outlook until I get my mac?
    3. When I get a mac, how easy will it be to sync all of my info I have on Outlook with the mac?
    And last...
    4. Because my iPhone has synced with the PC - will it still be easy to switch that to mac?
    I hope I was clear. I know it's a lot.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This will seem to be a complicated answer, but bear with me. For starters, .Mac Sync technology synchronizes only selected data types between one or more Macintosh desktop or portable computers, and the .Mac servers. It does not itself interact directly with any other applications or devices. For example, the contacts and events on your iPhone are synchronized using iTunes, interchanging data with the truth database on your Macintosh platform, and distributed elsewhere in your synchronization pool to other supported applications, devices and servers.
For a background on this technology, read this document. It does not reflect the inclusion of the iPhone which synchronizes contacts and events only—not tasks—bidirectionally, or the nature of the iPod touch, which synchronizes contacts bidirectionally but events as if it were an iPod. It is otherwise up to date in the information it offers.
To the extent that your iPhone synchronizes contacts and event in Outlook, you can easily incorporate them onto your Macintosh in to the Address Book and iCal. Tasks: not so much. And mail, not at all.
The answer to mail is IMAP: if your provider doesn't offer it, switch to a provider who does. Even the reasonably low-level mail service offered by AOL supports IMAP. Many major providers such as Comcast and MSN Live do not, though IMAP is an option of US users of Gmail, and soon for other users or Gmail worldwide.
You cannot synchronize your iPhone directly with the .Mac servers 'over the air' using a carrier network, Bluetooth or wireless ethernet. You cannot synchronize your iPhone at all except using the supported USB pathway to iTunes on your Macintosh of Windows OS computer. It's no easier to synchronize with a Macintosh because you have already synchronized to Outlook on your PC, but your contacts and calendars should transfer without issue.
You'll find more discussions about how to to this in the iPhone forums, located here, primarily in the Mail, Calendar and Contacts subforum.

  • Can't sync Palm with Mac through iSync, only syncs with Palm Desktop

I have an older Palm Tungsten T3 that I use basically only to run a medical application that I need at work (ePocrates, which has its own conduit and auto-updates itself with hotsyncs). I haven't tried to sync it to my Mac for a long time. I use iCal for my calendaring needs, sync it with my iPod, and ignore the old stuff that's on the Palm, which I hardly ever even sync.
Today I had to reinstall the Epocrates software, and decided while I was at it I'd try to get the Palm syncing with the Mac (iCal, contacts, etc) again because it would be nice for it to show the same calendar data.
I reinstalled the newest version of Palm Desktop from scratch. Installed the ePocrates software on top of it. I have iSync 2.4. My Palm was not listed as a device initially. I chose "Enable Palm OS Syncing" from the menu; iSync then went through a series of steps in which it disabled several conduits (presumably to no longer sync with the Palm Desktop), then told me to enable the iSync Palm conduit through the HotSync manager, which I did.
I now show the Palm as a device on iSync, but it has a yellow caution icon over it and I'm not sure why. Clicking on it shows an options dialog. I chose for the first sync I wanted to erase everything on the device and then sync with the Mac. My syncs appear to work, but when the data is checked it seems to sync only with Palm Desktop. The old junky data on the Palm was not erased as requested. Newer calendar events and contacts from my Mac have not made it to the Palm. The ePocrates auto update conduit is working fine but that's the only part that is.
Any idea what's incompatible, or what I'm doing wrong here?

I have The Missing Sync and used it to sync my palm TX. I am now in the process of trying to get iCal going properly again. No longer have any calender views in iCal and the week views don't show until I have opened a month view and then go back to the week view. Very bizzare. Also have a heap of untitled calendar views in the drop down list option when looking at the info on any event - these calendar views are not accessible anywhere else though.
I'm not sure if it is Missing Sync or something I did wrong at present. Will also throw the problem to the Missing Sync people to see what they say. Will let you know. It seemed to work really well without needing the palm desktop!

  • Sync Mail with .Mac

    Hello,
I've had my Macbook less than a week. I've been searching the Discussions boards and google about syncing my iMail with .Mac.
    I read this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=720270&#720270
And so I created folders in .Mac and then I created these same folders in iMail. What I wanted to happen is when I open mail via .MAC I would leave it there. So when I got home and opened iMail the same emails would be there, then the rules that apply to the "on the mac" folders would kick in and file themselves in the appropriate folders but that is not happening.
I.E. I'm forwarding my Yahoo mail to .Mac address. When I open iMail (using my .Mac account ALIAS) I was hoping iMail rules will see these messages and apply rules.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get this to work.
    Thank you in advance.
    Z'Dane

    Hello Z'Dane.
First of all, there is no such thing as ‘iMail’ in Mac OS X. I assume you’re talking about Apple Mail (i.e. the Mail application located in the /Applications/ folder).
And so I created folders in .Mac and then I created these same folders in iMail.
This is wrong. You can create the folders either on the web or using Mail, but if these are meant to be the same folders, you shouldn’t create them both ways.
then the rules that apply to the "on the mac" folders would kick in and
file themselves in the appropriate folders but that is not happening.
I don’t fully understand what you’re saying, but the problem could be that rules in Mail are automatically applied to incoming messages only, not to messages that have already been read, for example.
You can, however, select the messages in Mail and manually apply your rules to them doing Message > Apply Rules.

  • Sync Phone with Mac

    Hello,
I am converting from a PC to a Mac and I have a question about syncing my iPhone 3Gs to my Mac after it was already synced to a PC. I always used Outlook on the PC to sync and contacts. I will obviously start out with no contacts and no songs (and ringtones) on my Mac. How do I initially tell iTunes on the Mac that the data on my iPhone is correct and the information on the Mac is not the source? I don't want to loose ring tones that I paid for and do not want to have to retype contacts.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    --mitch

You will need to transfer your iTunes library from your PC to your Mac - the iTunes named folder where all iTunes content is stored including 3rd party apps. If you live near an Apple store, the Apple store will help you with this along with transferring all other data from your PC that you will need or want to access on your Mac such as photos, documents, etc.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book application and before syncing calendar events with iCal, enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal on your Mac. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for contacts and calendar events with the Address Book and iCal, which you want to select.

  • Sync Issues with .mac & iTunes

I am not sure what category to put this under, But Since the latest update for iTunes, I am no longer able to sync my address book or ical with any of my iPods.
Also, when my address book and ical try to sync with .mac it frezzes up.
    Any solutions?
    Dean

I've had this problem for a year, and searching Google provided no meaningful results. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Sync issues with .mac & iPods / iTunes

    Hi,
I have recently been getting sync issues with both my .mac account and iTunes. (all iPods)
To be exact, it is having trouble syncing my address book.
For iTunes, I can sync everything but my calendars and address book. (It freezes) My iPods work fine in syncing when I turn of the Ical / Address book sync feature.
and when my .mac sync starts, my computer freezes. (When trying to sync my address book)
This has only happened over the past week and I think its due to recent updates for the iPhone.
Can someone from Apple investigate this please....

    HI Dean,
    Try trashing the preference files:
    com.apple.isync.plist
    com.apple.addressbook.plist
They are here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Prefs folder, locate those files, drag them to the Trash and reboot. See if that helps.

  • More Torch sync errors with Mac iCal

I have read the thread at the bottom of my post below and am having the following sync problems with iCal
1 Duplication of iCal entries in the Torch calendar
2 iCal entries with the all-day box checked appear as all-day items in the Torch calendar, but not with the all-day box ticked there
3 iCal entries in the 8 different calendars there are all transferred to a single Torch calenda (which is what I want and expect), except for iCal entries from 1 April 2014 to the present day in one calendar only. How can I get these to transfer too?
4 I have successfully merged various Torch calendars and now have almost all the calendar entries in a single Torch calendar, the gmail calendar which is set as the calendar to which all new entries go, but is not set to sync wirelessly. However there seems to be another calendar on the Torch just called the default calendar with about 400 entries in it. I do not know how to merge the gmail calendar and the default calendar or even whether I need to or not as I do not know how to work out what the 400 entries are, as opposed to the 3000 or so entries in the gmail calendar.
I have tried the various options using Blackberry Destop Software 2.4 including "Syncing All events" and "Replace all calendar events on this Blackberry device".
Two further questions on those options:
Should "Sync all events" leave the events in iCal and the Torch Calendar absolutely identical?
Does or should "Replace all events on this Blackberry device" delete all existing events on the Blackberry and then faithfully copy all events from iCal to the Blackberry?
Experience suggests the answer is no to both questions, but I suspect the answer should be yes.
I would be most grateful for any and all help on this.
I have Mac OS 10.8.5 and a Torch 9800 with OS Version 6 with Bundle 3170

  • Syncing Storm with Mac with PocketMac

I can't sync iCal with my BB Storm 9530 using PocketMac.  It doesn't find my Storm when I plug in the USB cable.  I previously had a BB Curve and it synced up just fine.  But the Storm is not syncing.  Help!!!!

    Hello Blueline,
Are you getting any sort of errors when you try to synchronize your device and the computer?  My initial thought is that your PocketMac version might be out of date or the newer drivers will need to be installed on the Mac in order for PocketMac to see your device.
This thread might help you out, assuming you know where to download the PocketMac software and the updates for it (if not, here is the software link).

  • When I sync iPad with Mac my photos are not loaded

I Recently erased my Mac prior I backed it up to an external drive when I reloaded the information when I sync my Ipad the photos I have on the iPad are not there

I'm not sure where the photos aren't - after syncing are they not on your iPad, or are expecting syncing to copy them from your iPad to  your Mac ?
If not on the iPad then what type of photos are they ? If they were originally synced from your Mac then did your restore of your Mac put those photos back where they were on your Mac, and they are still selected on the iPad's Photos tab in your iTunes for syncing to the iPad ?

  • Sync imac with mac pro

Hello, can anyone advise me how I can sync my iMac and Macbook Pro please?

You posted your question in the section for Apple's Time Capsule router.  I suggest that you repost in a section for the version of OS X that your Macs are running.  When you do, describe in detail what types of things you want to sync between the Macs.
