Post Installation and development

Hi ,
The basis guys have told me PI ghas got installed.
As PI consultant can u tell me what I should be checking?..Also what will be the first s/w component i should import from SLD?...
Thank You in Advance

As PI consultant can u tell me what I should be checking?.
You need to go through this Post Installation Guide for PI (by PI i take that you mean PI7.1):

  • Windows 10 Enterprise Edition: Installation and Development Environment Essentials: Thoughts & Assistance Req:

    Hello,
I am in the architecture planning stage of my project and seeking personal and general good advice from Mircosoft engineers.  I am laying the foundation stones of a new development product using at least three more new technologies that are
as new as Windows 10. Their are also around four or five technology partners with the latest version of their software that I wish to take onboard. Due to the sensitive nature of the project it is not wise for me to state each piece of technology used,
so I will be as accurate as possible using the limited means I have.
I wish to make a "closed" development environment, with the latest build (currently 9860), install the new software. Some of which installs fine, some of which is not compatabile with Windows 10. Regarding the latter I am in discussions with the
technology providers to make a work-around and hammer and chisel through every issue. Very soon I hope to have a fully stable working development environment which paves the road to a first prototype. So i need to make a decision soon to "lock
down" everything. I will miss Windows 10 updates but the advantage is when the project vertical slice is complete, the feedback and benefit will be larger for Windows 10 final product.
This is probably my fifth or sixth early evaluation of the Windows platform and I am aware of the highs and lows of working with various versions using new builds, from the stability of win98 (becoming 2000 - minus millennium 1999 edition), to the quick uninstall
of vista (it broke our internal projects). The solid bedrock of Windows NT (becoming XP) and so on. The good news is Windows 10 seems very good indeed.
    My questions are two:
    1) Would the windows team recommend a closed environment development in my situation, and are they aware of other developers doing it (is it wise from your end)? Is their a pool, can we communicate directly?
    or
    2) Would you recommend an open environment instead? Every install is updated, everything is all on-line and networked, this may lead to more breakages and sacrifice the finished product.
The problem with approach number 2 is that a particular technology  may work with this build, but not the next one and vice versa. I will constantly be playing "bunny hop" trying to make it work.
The problem with using number 1 is that you can have a "false dawn" view of the project, meaning you have managed to get it stable and develop code that fits that environment and build, but as soon as you do update six months later, it breaks due
to feature change, it means massive re-work, ultimately breaking the product again.
I have seen these approaches drown larger projects and wash away whole development teams.
Its a tough one and a part of my R&D but very soon I need to make a decision.
To explain more, some of the technology used will be:
Windows 10 Enterprise - Perforce - Office 365 with Exchange Activ Synch - Any associated Intel CPU and GPU monitors.
In other words very stable and solid technology. Their is about an equal number of other techs that are not so stable but I am slowly getting to work under Windows 10.All feedback would be given to Microsoft, regardless of environment 1 or 2.
Any advice and help from the Microsoft Team is greatly appreciated.
    Yours Kindly,
    Asad

I recently went to an Enterprise Mobility Summit Microsoft was holding at one of their facilities, and they spoke a bit about the future of Windows 10 - and here's what I left with: Microsoft isn't really sure themselves what kind of updating scheme they're
going to be doing with Windows 10.  They had some ideas, but they're looking for feedback from enterprises and engineers about their plan.
I don't think it was under an NDA, so I should have no problem discussing it:  their idea was to have different tracks (based on the user) with different upgrade schedules based on what the administrator deems appropriate for that user.  For instance,
a consumer would have their OS automatically updated as soon as the update was available. while enterprises could stagger their users to a more manageable 3-month or 6-month schedule.  Microsoft wasn't sure how long to make this stagger schedule - talk
of a 1 year stagger were floated, but nothing concrete.  Critical devices, like POS or ATMs, could be setup so they would never be upgraded, or only upgraded when the administrator specifically allows them to be upgraded.
For you personally, it sounds like a closed development environment is better, since you're testing critical business applications.  Again, one never knows exactly what direction Microsoft will take, but with the amount of conversations and...
warnings that dropped by various people at this meeting, it's pretty safe to say that they'll be some sort of timed release schedule for enterprises that you can prepare for.
    Hope that helps!

  • Regarding the Post Installation and SP Level

    Hi All,
We have installed NWDI on our existing EP Dev Server.Installation was successful but regarding the post installation we are in a thinking as how best we could patch the newly installed NWDI system.
As our EP system is on SP 11and NWDI system on sp 9,Do we need get EP and NWDI Patch level in Sync? as there would be developers working from EP and BW as well on this NWDI server.
    Here My doubt is:-
Do the Nwdi System needs to be in the same patch level as our EP system (as it is installed on EP itself.)
Do we need to run the Template for the Newly installed NWDI only after the Patch Upgradation?
    Kindly Advice
    Regards
    Santosh.N.G

the patch level of EP and NWDI should be same

  • Post-Installation and Configuration of Solution Manager 7.1

    Dear community,
we are a SAP Channel Partner and want to offer SAP BO support; therefore I am about to set up the Solution Manager 7.1 on a Windows 2008 R2 host with Oracle Database 11g. The installation has been completed successfully and I have applied our permanent license, but performing the following post-installation steps some problems and questions have arised. Because I don't want to write a novel right here, let's begin with the first issue:
Updating the Solman, as suggested in post-installation.
I want to update my ISS to SP 04 and followed the common instructions using ESPIN and SPAM (see, for example, this thread: ).
That means, all packages have been loaded from ESPIN into SPAM. The problem is, that I have SPAM version 0039, but I get error message "you need at least version 0040" when I try to start the update queue. Also, I am not able to download a newer version of SPAM from SMP (702-0043 and 702-0045 are available there), because I need MOPZ for that (a message comes up telling me that items in my download basket have to be confirmed before I am allowed to download them), which will be available not before basic configuration during solman_setup later on.
So, what to do? Is there another way to get that 5MB SPAM update or do I have to go on with the old version?
    Thanks in advance
    Sönke
Edited by: Sönke Schnurr on Dec 29, 2011 4:15 PM (small addendum)

Okay, I am just re-installing my Solution Manager 7.1, because I couldn't solve my SPAM problem (linked thread in my next-to-last post).
I would like to configure the whole SAProuter SNC thing now. The Solution Manager host is the same which has the SAProuter installed. I have already registered and certified it and created the Windows Service which starts the SAProuter (saprouter -r -S 3299 -G routerlog -K u201Cp:CN=XXX, OU=YYY, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DEu201C), XXX and YYY being the appropriate values.
Now I want to create my saprouttable. A beta version is this one here, based on some tutorials in the internet:
    KT "p:CN=sapserv2, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE" 194.39.131.34 3299
    KP "p:CN=sapserv2, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE"  3200
    1. deny all other connections
    D * * *
Do you think it's alright? I'm connecting via host port 3299, so the first two lines should be alright, shouldn't they?.
The fourth line P ? The local IP address of my host? What is that line for at all?
Another question: The connection to OSS doesn't work yet, probably because of our local hardware router firewall. Which ports do I have to forward? I suppose it is just 3299?
An elaborate answer would be highly appreciated!

  • Post-Installation and Configuration steps in APO instllation

    Hi,
Could anybody give me some info regards to APO Basis configuration steps after a fresh install of an APO system..

    Hi Govind,
I think there would be too many steps to list here. Can you check the installation guides at https://service.sap-com/instguides --> SAP Business Suite Applications --> SAP SCM? All information should be in the detailed PDF guides.

  • SCCM installation and post requirements

I have searched several threads regarding the permission prerequisites for SCCM installation but have not found one that cleary addresses my question.
I have setup the appropriate permissions with the SCCM computer accounts and site installation service account added
to the local administrators group on the SQL server. Is this access still needed for post SCCM installation or can it be reduces once installation is complete?
I would like to remove the SCCM computer accounts from the SQL local admin group post installation and reduce the SCCM service account from the sysadmin role on SQL.
What is the supported configuration post installation?

The official response is that we require admin rights to all site system computers, even after installation. There are ongoing tasks we perform after installation that will fail and generate errors/status messages if you were to remove it.
With that said, for SQL Server:
If the customer removes the local admininstrators group from the SQL sysadmin then we still work.
    Hi Wally,
do you mean the SQL sysadmin right for SCCM installation service account is not required after the installation? is it officially supported by Microsoft?

Please check that server is Running but not able to open some application. I would suggest to check the Enviromental Variable for My Computer :-
    - Database Enviromental variable is added or not under "user vairable for <UserID for Server Desktop>
    - Check JAVA_HOME Enviromental variable is added or not under "System Variable'
Check at (My computer > Properties >> Advance >> Startup and Recovery >> Enviromental Variable >> System Variables/User varaible
Update your server IP address and host name in host file entry at (RUN > drivers > etc > host file) and check database server services (Run > Services.msc >> Start your database services  manually and change prperties as automatic)
Then try to open portal URL http://<Host>:<Port>/irj/portal or http://<Host>:<Port>/index.html

  • PI (XI 7.0) Installation and Post Installation Guides

We have installed XI 3.0 with previous clients, and we are trying to install XI 7.0 (PI) for a client on Windows 2003 SQL server. We looked for installation documents in the service.sap.com, but we were confused about which documents to follow.
Has anyone installed PI (XI 7.0) from scratch? If yes, could you provide us documents regarding installation and post installation steps. What are the differences in installing XI 3.0 and PI?
    You help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Karma

    Hey Karma,
You dont need any guide for PI post installation.
There is a facility in NW 2004s for completing post installation, they provide with templates. you just have to execute the templates and your PI post config is done.
    first execute
    NWD
    and then
    PI templates
After this import the BASIS components into design environment.

  • 3 posts in one on the Leopard "installation and setup" forum

I just posted a topic "Cannot disable trackpad pinch open & close" on the Leopard "installation and setup" forum and the topic was posted 3 times.
I first previewed my post, then posted the message from the preview pane. Interestingly, it took the forum server a very long time to display the preview pane ... and then a very long time (several minutes) to post the message after i clicked the post button.
I did not get impatient and click any buttons twice ... I just waited, and somehow the message got posted 3 times. I can believe I did something inadvertent on my end ... but impatiently hitting the preview and post buttons while waiting was not it.
If someone with power can remove 2 of the 3 repetitions, I'd appreciate it ... I couldn't figure out how to delete them myself

Thanks. Is there a direct channel to the moderators anyone can use in circumstances like this?
This is it. The Feedback forum is the place to post requests for the Hosts.
I'd like to find out why my posting actions are generating multiple postings.
This has been happening to many people and as Terence mentions seems to be a fault in the forum software. Some have noticed that it occurs when there appears to be a server lag. That is, they'll click the button to post and there will be a long lag in response from the web site, and then even though they never clicked another button, several posts will appear.
    It's not anything you did.

  • Question on CAPolicy.inf file and post-installation script

I'm preparing a small PKI implementation with a single Enterprise Root CA on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise.
The primary role of this CA is to provide certificates for about 20 laptops that will use the certificates for authentication to a wireless network.
I have prepared a CAPolicy.inf file and a post installation script (below).
Renewal period for the root cert should be 10 years, CRL publication every 2 days with Delta publication every 12 hours (details in scripts below).
I want to make sure the AIA and CRL url commands are correct.
    Does this look correct?
    AIA
    1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%1_%%3%%4.crt
This should publish the CA certificate to the local file system "certenroll".
    2:ldap:///CN=%%7,CN=AIA,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%11
This places the LDAP url in the AIA extension of issued certs.
I am not planning to use HTTP, hence its absence.
    CRL
    1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%3%%8%%9.crl
This publishes the CRL to the local file system ("certenroll" subfolder).
    10:ldap:///CN=%%7%%8,CN=%%2,CN=CDP,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%10
Indicates CDP in AD DS and includes CDP url in issued certificates.
    Complete scripts
    1. CAPolicy.inf - %windir%
    [Version]
    Signature= "$Windows NT$"
    [certsrv_server]
    renewalkeylength=2048
    RenewalValidityPeriodUnits=10
    RenewalValidityPeriod=years
    CRLPeriod = days
    CRLPeriodUnits = 2
    CRLDeltaPeriod = hours
    CRLDeltaPeriodUnits = 12
    LoadDefaultTemplates=0
    2. Install Role
    Follow steps in GUI here
    3. Run post-install script
    certutil -setreg CA\DSConfigDN CN=Configuration,DC=mydomain,DC=local
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLPeriodUnits 2
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLPeriod "days"
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLDeltaPeriodUnits 12
    certutil -setreg CA\CRLDeltaPeriod "hours"
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriodUnits 10
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriod "Years"
    certutil –setreg CA\CACertPublicationURLs "1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%1_%%3%%4.crt\n2:ldap:///CN=%%7,CN=AIA,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%11"
    certutil –setreg CA\CRLPublicationURLs "1:%WINDIR%\System32\CertSrv\CertEnroll\%%3%%8%%9.crl\n10:ldap:///CN=%%7%%8,CN=%%2,CN=CDP,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,%%6%%10"
    certutil -setreg CA\csp\DiscreteSignatureAlgorithm 1
    certutil -setreg CA\AuditFilter 127
net stop certsvc & net start certsvc
    certutil -crl
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

A couple of things (just a quick glance)
    1) CAPolicy.inf
Everything looks fine in this file. You will have a 2 day base crl and 12 hour delta CRLs. No default templates are loaded, so you must manually designate all published certificates
    2) Post install Script
    a. Best practices are to use HTTP only, not to use LDAP, so your whole design does not follow best practices. Furthermore, if you issue a certificate to a single, non-domain joined machine, they will be unable to evaluate your certificates. If you decide
to do VPN (or use an internal SSL cert on an externally accessible Web server), revocation checking will fail because you do not publish AD to the external world
    b. Will you be issuing 10 year certificates from the CA. These lines:
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriodUnits 10
    certutil -setreg CA\ValidityPeriod "Years"
define the maximum validity period of certs issued *by* the CA. For example, if a certificate template states 4 years, then a four year will be issued (less than 10 years). If a template state 12 years, then the max age will be 10 years. Think of it as a
    governor.
c.CACertPublicationURLs . This should include an HTTP URL, and if you want to still include LDAP, HTTP should be prior to the LDAP URL.
    d. CRLPublicationURLs. This should include an HTTP URL. If you want to still include LDAP, HTTP should be prior to the LDAP URL. Your checkbox value for the LDAP URL is incorrect as well. For a CA that issues both base and delta CRLs, you must have a value
of 79 (all check boxes enabled). Your current configuration would fail for revocation checking because you do not publish the base or delta CRL to AD. There is another check box missing (I believe the one to include the URL in the base CRL's freshest CRL extension
(how to find the delta CRL).
    e. Do not include the DiscreteSignatureAlgorithm line in the script. If you have any Windows XP clients, they will not be able to use the certs (BTW, this should have been AlternateSignatureAlgorithm in my book - where you sourced your scripts). This would
only be used on a CA where you used something like Elliptical Curve as the assymetric algorithm and SHA384 as the signature algorithm).
    f. The restart line should be net stop certsvc && net start certsvc. The double && ensures that the service comes to a complete stop before the start command is executed.
    HTH,
    Brian

  • Database and developer installation

    good time for everyone,
i installed my mechine oracle 8i enterprise and i want to use locally, i installed developer 6i . when i want to log in database througth developer i am getting this error ora-12154, could this problem has solution.
thank you your help in advance,

    Hi,
You should have installed DB and Developer in different Oracle Homes.
The error should mean that you did not configure properly the DB alias in the Developer Oracle Home.
If you can connect without problems in SqlPlus from the DB Oracle Home, copy the SQLNET.ORA and TNSNAMES.ORA files located in the DB ORACLE_HOME\network\admin to the Developer ORACLE_HOME\network\admin.
    Good luck....
    Paolo
