Post query question

Hello everyone,
I need your help with this problems. I have a master detail 10g form. In the detail block there is a balance field which is populated automatically based on the amount you enter in the amount field.
This works fine if I am adding a record in the detail block and i enter an amount in the amount field. The amount field has a post-item-trigger which calculates the balance field.
The problem is when I locate a master record which has multiple detail records, the balance field only populates in the first detail record. I have a when-new-form-instance trigger which populates this balance field. I need all the detail records to populate the balance field.

Hi JD,
Forms provides built in functionality for summarized items, check the forms builder online help, search "summarized item's values" or
http://www.oracle.com/forms/10g/help/ for samples and detailed explanation.
in short you need to a control data block with a text item, open the item properties, find the Calculation section and set the properties:
"Calculation mode"= summary
"Summary function"= sum
"Summarized block"= your initial muti record block
and
"Summarized item"= your selected item
