Posted and Edited time in different Timezones?

I did a quick search but couldn't find anything, but this seems like a bug.
From this thread:
How to drop a index
I noticed the Posted time is displayed in my timezone but the edited time is displayed in the other user's timezone. Not a big deal but it's just a bit odd.

Nice catch rkhtsen
That's because the posted time is saved as Timestamp in database while Edited message is in-printed as text while user hit Edit button. So it's in that user's timezone date.

  • How can i get current time in different TimeZone

    Hi alls,
    How can i get current time in different TimeZone.
    I've tried
    final Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(GMT0_TIME_ZONE);
    final Date date = calendar.getTime();
    but it returns current time in my time zone not in GMT0

    a simple way would be:Sometimes gets you the right result (not during daylight saving), but always the wrong way.
    I would strongly recommend getting into the habit of handling Dates correctly. A Date is a universal instant in time - the number of milliseconds since midnight GMT on 1 January 1970. That instant corresponds to various dates and times, depending on your time zone and the effect of daylight saving. You make that conversion of a universal instant to a localized date/time using Calendar and DateFormat.

  • Calculating time for different timezone, problems with daylight savings?

    Hi all,
    I try to convert my locale time to a different timezone (like a world clock does). This worked until Europe got "summer time". Then my time calculation went wrong. I just paste the following coding to give you a quick reproducable code.
    I did a lot of googleing but nothing found so far. Also search here in the forum didn't help me solving it. So now I created a post on my own.
    The output of the Java programm is the following (without the colored comments). I just entered these comments to show you where the calculation is right and where it goes wrong.
    I have absolutely now idea about where the chase the error. I am only guessing with "daylight savings issue".
    Hopefully anybody has a good idea.
    Thanks in advance

    You should not set the time zone on the calendar since you want the calendar based on UTC.
            List<TimeZone> list = new LinkedList<TimeZone>();
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/London"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Europe/Berlin"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Australia/Sydney"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/New_York"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Bangkok"));
            list.add(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Hong_Kong"));
            Calendar cal = new GregorianCalendar(); // Regardless of your timezone this holds the number of milliseconds since 1/1/1970 UTC.
            for (TimeZone tz : list)
                SimpleDateFormat formatter = (SimpleDateFormat) DateFormat.getDateTimeInstance(DateFormat.MEDIUM, DateFormat.MEDIUM);
                formatter.setTimeZone(tz);
                System.out.println("\n" + tz.getID());
                System.out.println("daylight shift in millis: " + tz.getDSTSavings());
                System.out.println("Is in daylight savings: " + tz.inDaylightTime(cal.getTime()));
                System.out.println(formatter.format(cal.getTime()));
            } I have no idea whether or not this then gives the results you expect.

  • How can you use one image and edit it three different ways to export later?

    I am a new Lightroom 3 user.  How can use the same image and edit it multiple ways to produce mulitple images to later export?  For example,  I have a picture of a bride and groom.  I want to use that image and create a color image, a black and white image, and a close up of their hands.

    Do I need to do either of those options before I start editing the image at all?  For example,  what if I am working on the image and doing some creative edits.  Then I think of another option that I could do.  Is it too late at that time or can I still get the original image to begin with?

  • Can you access files and edit them from different computers in Creative Cloud?

    I want to understand the workflow we can have. We have three computers and would like to access and edit the same files in Creative Cloud. Can you do this? I understand I may have to purchase two licenses but will this give everyone access to the same files and able to edit and upload files.
    We do this in Dropbox now but with Creative Cloud is sounds like all I can do is share a file for them to comment on, not edit?

    Hi Olivia,
    With Creative Cloud, file editing comes in via downloading Adobe applications with a Creative Cloud membership. While you cannot edit within Creative Cloud, you can share files with your coworkers which can then be downloaded, edited in an Adobe application, and reuploaded to the Cloud.
    Be aware that although you can have two computers activated on the same Creative Cloud membership, you cannot use the same application on two computers simultaneously. A Creative Cloud membership is for one user that can be used on one or more computers.
    You may want to look into the Creative Cloud Team Ready, that targets work environments like yours. You can read more about Team Ready here.
    Hope this helped clarify your questions!

  • Firefox keeps crashing at seemingly random and infrequent times on different websites each time. One moment it will be fine, then without reason it will crash continuously

    For a good few months now Firefox has quite frequently been crashing on me for no reason that i can distinguish. I have attempted to fully re-install Fire-Fox with a fresh install and tried sorting out the addons but nothing seems to help. I also ensure to run it in administrator mode for windows 7 but again, to no success. Basically i could be browsing the web perfectly fine and it will randomly crash on a website, what websites it crashes on changes all the time, some times it even crashes on my google homepage constantly and often only a computer restart will sort it out. It will then run fine for a short while before inevitably Firefox will crash again. If i could find out whats causing these crashes i could then work on stopping them. Thanks in advance for any support.

  • Specific time in different timezones

    Hello all,
    I have the following scenario. My developement pc is in a PDT timezone and my server is in a EDT timezone. Plus, the date entries in the server need to be GMT values.
    I know that, right now at least, there are 3 hours of difference between PDT and EDT, and 4 hours of difference between EDT and GMT.
            Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance();
            SimpleDateFormat timeDateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss, z");
            Date date = calendar.getTime();
            System.out.println("server:\t" + timeDateFormat.format(date));
            timeDateFormat.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("EST5EDT"));
            System.out.println("local:\t" + timeDateFormat.format(date));
            timeDateFormat.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("GMT"));
            System.out.println("GMT:\t" + timeDateFormat.format(date));output:
    server:     2007-11-02 11:15:43, PDT
    local:     2007-11-02 14:15:43, EDT
    GMT:     2007-11-02 18:15:43, GMT
    Now, I need to convert today's midnight time (EDT) to GMT from my pc having PDT timezone.
            SimpleDateFormat timeDateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss, z");
            String today = "2007-11-02 00:00:00, EST5EDT";
            Date date = timeDateFormat.parse(today);
            System.out.println("server:\t" + timeDateFormat.format(date));
            timeDateFormat.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("PST8PDT"));
            System.out.println("local:\t" + timeDateFormat.format(date));
            timeDateFormat.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("GMT"));
            System.out.println("GMT\t" + timeDateFormat.format(date));output:
    server:     2007-11-02 00:00:00, EST
    local:     2007-11-01 22:00:00, PDT
    GMT:     2007-11-02 05:00:00, GMT
    1. Why does it show EST instead of EST5EDT or just EDT?
    2. Why there are now 2 hours of difference between EDT (EST) and PDT? I think it's related to 1.
    I'm pulling my hair out of my head with this one. I'd really appreciate any comments on this. Thanks

    Today Nov 5th, my code is working fine. My problem is obviously related to the daylight saving time. Since I seem to be using a recent Java Platform (1.5.0_11), does this mean that DST are not fully supported by SimpleDateFormat?As far as I know, Java 1.5.0_11 supports the TZ rules in the U.S. as they exist now. It's possible that there's a bug in that support. It may also be that Java is using your OS's notion of TZs and your OS may not be up to date. I forget the exact rules as to when Java uses its own TZ rules vs. those of the OS.

  • Capturing and editing on 2 different systems... Possible?

    In a couple of days I will recieve my pre-ordered Imac with Final Cut Pro. However, I have a strict deadline I should meet next week for a project so I want to save some time.
    Here is the plan:
    I capture the HDV tapes on my 6 year-old PC with Adobe Premiere Pro so I have the files ready to import to the Imac, on which I will use FCP to edit them.
    Critical points I question:
    -Will it give problems if I import .avi files in FCP?
    -Can my computer handle the capturing proces and keep the quality of the original video?
    My specs:
    AMD 3400+ processor (2.2 ghz)
    1 GB memory
    Nvidia Geforce 7200 GT
    Harddisk:
    Interface IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6
    Capacity 160GB
    RPM 7200 RPM
    Cache 2MB
    Average Seek Time 8.5ms
    Average Latency 4.16ms
    Thanks for your response!!

    AVI files are not directly supported in FCP. You will have problems.
    As Tom noted, if you are that time crunched and do not know FCP and it is a project of any complexity, it may be better to simply do the project on your old system.
    If you do have the time and hard drive space (you should have an external FW800 drive for media), capture the material in FCP as ProRes and work from there. It will be faster and more stable than staying in HDV.

  • How to create and edit time curves for parameteric EQ

    Hi all, I'd like to do something very basic, but I can't figure out how to do it.
    I've got a video, and I'd like to apply some filters to an audio track, and sync it with the video. I've managed to load in the video, put my audio files on the multisession, and place the effects I want in place. I can't figure out the rest - i.e. animating the parameters. I'm used to animation software (such as aftereffects), where I can enable keyframing for a channel, goto a time on the timeline, change the value for a parameter and it's saved as a keyframe at that time.
    I do have a bunch of midi controllers, but I'd rather hand edit these keyframes for accuracy as opposed to trying to record, there's only a few moments so should take me just a few seconds if I knew how to do it!
    Cheers,

    Ah indeed, there is the familiar keyframe interface. That's great thanks, however I still couldn't find how to control these from the effect interface! I.e. I can edit the curves from there, but there's about 20+ parameters on the parameteric EQ, to have to go through keyframing it through the curves and not the interface would be nuts. I'd like to set all of the parametric EQ parameters (freq, Q, gain for each band) to be keyframable (which I can go through and do once if need be by manually setting a keyframe at time==0), but then I'd like to just use the parametric EQ interface, move the points around, and have the keyframes created. Currently what it seems what I have to do is:
    - go through all 20 parameters and manually place a keyframe at time==0
    - go to a new time on the timeline, and move all my points around in the parametric EQ interface
    - go back to automation curves and go through all 20 parameters one by one clicking on the 'add keyframe' button for each parameter individually.
    - go to the next time on the timeline, and repeat
    Suffice to say this is tedious enough, but it gets even more interesting when:
    The parametric eq interface does not update to show what the actual current value (From the automation) graph is. So if I want to slightly tweak a value (e.g. lift or drop a tiny bit), I can't do it, I can't see in the parametric eq window what the current value is. So I need to:
    - goto the automation curve and find the parameter in question
    - read out the value
    - go back to the parametric window, and set that number in first
    - and then edit it.
    And then it gets even more interesting (this is probably a bug), because I'm having trouble editing current keyframes. I've found if I move a value on the parametric EQ window if there already is a keyframe in place I'd hoped it would just update the keyframe, but instead it does nothing. What I need to do is:
    - first remove the keyframe
    - then move the parameter in the parameq window
    - then set the keyframe again.
    If I move the parameter first, then remove the keyframe, then set the keyframe again, it won't get the new value. The parameter must be moved after the keyframe is removed. nuts.
    I hope I'm just doing it wrong and there is an easy 'auto-set keyframes' option somewhere!
    I'm running audition CC v6.0 build 732 64bit on windows 8.1 pro.

  • How do you post on the forum and edit the wiki?

    I'm interested in efficient ways of posting and editing the wiki. Do you know / use any?
    I'm currently using firefox + pentadactyl. Pressing Ctrl+i in a text area opens vim
    set editor='st -e vim'
    and I'm all set :-)

    Over two years ago, /dev/zero posted this interesting piece: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=143444
    And this thread got me searching for "vim bbcode", and immediately, something interesting:
    Use Markdown Instead Of BBCode With Vimperator
    looks like a good idea. Or maybe just use something that makes editing bbcode easier (e.g. vim-surround rule, wait, I'll look that one up.)
    ... OK I'm done looking it up; here is one:
    let g:surround_{char2nr("c")} = "<code>\r</code>"
    let g:surround_{char2nr("u")} = "<url\1url: \r..*\r=&\1>\r</url>"
    The first one's basic; surrounds the target with code tags with the "c" replacement.
    This will prompt for URL and surround the target with proper URL bbcode if you use the "u" replacement.
    Combine such rules with autocmd and some bbcode syntax highlighting, it would make life easier with bbcode.
    Note I've used '<>' instead of '[]' to not confuse bbcode.
    As for the topic question, I use Firefox with pentadactyl in a tabbed container in i3. When I press Ctrl-i in a textarea, a VIM editor opens in a new i3 tab, at full size. This makes editing focused. When I need to look at the original web page, I just switch to the previous i3 tab and take a peek.

  • ADF Task Flow: Browse and Edit pages

    Hi,
    My application includes two pages, a Browse page and an Edit page. The Browse page provides the list of departments (read-only table) and allows you to select a department from the list to edit the department details (form).
    How can I develop this common scenario using ADF task flows? Important - I need to display Browse and Edit on two different jsf pages.
    Thanks, Al

    It should be pretty easy.
    1) Create your browse and edit page
    2) drop them onto a task flow
    3) Connect the pages with navigation cases.
    4) Set the ACTION property of a button on the browse page to reference the navigation case that goes to the edit page
    5) Hook up the reverse to go back to the browse page
    Done!

    I have tons of duplicate and triplicate bookmarks NOT in folders in Mavericks just under "Bookmark Menu". How can I edit and sort them so I don't go blind doing it individually?

    Hi Divakar,
    Please note that I am using below logic to make one cell (5th row 6th column) editable (Not entire row). Your logic will
    make complete row or column editable but as per my requirement i have to make only one cell editable. Also note that I am applying sort and edit logic on different fields. In this case it group functionality is not woking. But when I comment set_ready_for_input logic then group functionality works fine.Please Advise.

  • FCP 10.1 slow timeline and editing - Any suggestions to improve speed?

    Recently updated to  OS X 10.9.1 and FCP 10.1. Now experiencing very slow editing and movement in timeline. FCP is responding some 2 to 5 seconds after providing an editing command. The slowest response is to scrolling in the timeline  - 2 finger scroll does not respond for up to 10 seconds after doing it.
    Render times are fine and similar to previous FCP X versions.
    Never had this problem in previous versions of FCP X.
    So far I have done the following things based on forums and a call to apple support(?).
    Deleted all plug ins.
    Started from scratch a project that I was half way through and imported all clips from scratch to a new Library (external Hard Drive).
    Deleted FCP and reinstalled including deleting all preferences.
    Timeline is quick in the early stages of the project but gets slower as I progress - about 3 minutes into my project now (approx 200 clips) and editing time is becoming impossible.
    Am using Mac Book Pro with 2.5 GhzIntel Core i7, 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB.
    Anyone able to assist with further suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi Ian and Russ
    Thanks for your interest.
    Hard drive is 500GB of which I have used approx 300GB. I am using an external hard drive for this project.Footage is from Canon 7D/70D which is H.264 which is the same as other successful projects.
    Yes I do have a number of photos (say 30 @ 18mp) that I am using as part of the project although I have used these before in previous versions of FCP X without impact.
    Tried activity monitor (first time I had used it).
    When scrowling through time line (one of the problem activities) memory does not move much- Real memory approx 925mb, Virtual memory 6GB, shared memory 44mb, Private memory 75mb. Interstingly though when performing this task CPU usage goes > 100% and averages 130%.
    Does this help with any potential diagnostics and solutions?
    Thanks
