Power hiccups

My iPhone is driving me crazy! Ever since I upgraded to 3.1.2 my phone keeps turning on and off randomly. Sometimes it will last hours without doing so, unless I click the power button to turn off the screen, if I do, It makes a really weird noise and then starts having what I call power hiccups. Sometimes the screen will even show weird color lines all over and just frezze until I reset the phone, and other times when the phone starts again, all my icons and setting are rearranged and changed. I noticed this used to happen less often when plugged into the Computer or Power outlet. However, lately it just keeps doing it! I've tried resetting, restoring, and just about everything.
Now, I noticed 3.1.3 came out and I was wondering if upgrading would fix this problem or make it worst. Of course I would rather not upgrade since I don't want to lose some of the stuff on my iPhone, but I'm kindda desperate by now.
Anyone having that problem? I truly believe it's software and not hardware related... any thoughts

If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • ITunes can't locate music files THAT I CAN

Last night, when I opened iTunes, each song I clicked on gave me a "!" next to it, followed by this message:
"The song XYZ could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
Well, I know exactly where the song is, which is where all the songs are and have been for some time on my LaCie external drive. They are, in fact, still there. When I go to a music file through the Finder and double-click the file name, it plays--through iTunes--and is recognized by iTunes thereafter. I could do this for all 2,500 songs, but I have a life to live in the next three to four years.
Why is this happening and, more importantly, what can be done about it?

this can also happen anytime the external drive is not available... i have 1/2 my library on an external drive and whenever the power goes out in my neighborhood, iTunes temporarilly looses the link to the external drive... my neighborhood was built in the 1920s, and the power goes out many times a year... i use an old powerbook for my iTunes computer, which i keep plugged into my stereo... when the power hiccups, the external drive goes down, but the powerbook continues on it's battery... if iTunes or the external drive get too confused by going up and down, then i just powercycle the external drive and reboot my powerbook and everything has normally gone back to normal... the power issues are part of the reason i wanted to keep as much as i could on the internal powerbook drive... and i keep everything backed up...
anyway, i'll try you suggestion for the "option" on launch... i had to replace my external drive which finally died (from 2001)... so now i need to relink the files back to iTunes, hopefully not manually since i have about 2500 files to fix... i did copy all the files from the internal disc to the new external drive and merged the libraries, then tried using the iTunes preferences to point to the folder in the external drive... but that didn't work in my case... it still sees 1/2 of the files still in the internal drive and still has "!" for all the files on the external drive...
for tlee61, this makes me wonder if you might not need to check the iTunes preferences to see where it is looking for your files. if you set it up to store all files on the external disc, and it is set up to copy in the files to the iTunes library, then that option in the preference file for the library location might have gotten changed inadvertently... if you have iTunes set up to NOT copy in the files, and your files are in random locations on the external drive, that may be much harder to solve... i'm not positive of the best approach... i think there may be an option for iTunes to search the drives for music, like when someone installs/runs iTunes for the 1st time... but i'm not sure, off the top of my head, how to trigger that... i may be looking for that option if i can't seem to figure out another way to relink my files... but i'm afraid that it will try to either copy everything from the external drive to the internal drive, where there is no more space, or that it will try to copy the files on the internal drive to the external drive, where i've already merged the files (and eliminated some duplications)...
i very much want to keep all the metadata... so i'm hesitent to experiment blindly too much since i don't want to do something that "imports" all the songs, but looses all the metadata... in my case, it would be easier to relink the files manually than attempt to recreate all the metadata...
if i find a solution besides just manually relinking files, i'll let you know...
i expect there is a way to solve this...

  • Is my Airport Extreme corrupting my drives?

I've read a number of Apple Discussions about issues similar, but not quite the same, as the one I'm having. It's driving me mad because I can't pin down what's wrong to find a fix.
The drives I have attached via network seem to corrupt over time. Last year it was the 1TB, this year the 3TB has been acting up (and 2 weeks ago the *other* 3TB was completely freaked out - missing 1/3 of its files -  and had to be wiped (it has the identical content to the 3TB MiniStack because I am resigned to a cycle of wiping and re-installing at the moment).
Example of problem: Currently I have 421 files on one of the 1.5TB partitions. They are absolutely there. When the drive is connected directly to my Mac, I can see them all and it says 421 files. When I put that drive on the network, it says it has 419 files. If I attempt to drag one of the "missing" files from my Mac to that drive, it tells me there is already a file by that name in existence and asks if I would like to replace it. So, on some level that file is being recognized even though via network it's not in the file count, it's not showing up in iTunes, and is not showing up in the Finder.
Last night I was also randomly getting a -50 error when trying to move a file onto that drive via network, and I got several disconnect messages even though the networked drives were all still visible and accessible from my Mac. I've gotten those disconnects randomly before, but not in that number. I'm not getting that this evening, though the file there/not there issue is still with me.
The "missing" files are the last 2 alphabetically (one is a folder, one is an m4v file, both start with Z). When a partition on the other 3TB drive melted down, most of the missing files were in the H's and A's (movie files). I can't figure out a reason for that but it does seem weird. In previous disappearing file scenarios, it's not the same two that are missing now, so I don't think it's a bad file. The other partition on that drive seemed OK.
I've swapped drives (including some not mentioned here), changed the order in which they are plugged in, changed cables, it happened in 10.5 and now in 10.6.8, it's not iTunes because, while it can't see the files, neither can the Finder. The only thing that hasn't changed is the Airport Express Base Station, which makes me wonder if it's corrupting things. Is that even possible?
I ran Sophos on every drive I own - all are clean. I ran Disk Utility on these 2 networked drives and they both checked out fine right now (2 weeks ago the previously corrupted 3TB was irreparable, as were disks before it, thus the constant wipe/restore cycle. I suspect I'm heading down that path again.)
I have been plagued by this for at least 2 years now. Perhaps because I'm trapped in the house from a blizzard, I'm motivated to fix this annoyance once and for all instead of wipe/reinstall/repeat every 6 months. The idea of streaming my movie, tv and music library from the basement (leaving that wire-y mess down there) to my Macbook is nirvana for me. Apple's marketing makes me believe it can happen via Airport Extreme. What am I missing? Am I asking too much from networked drives and would having an old Mac hooked up as a server work better?
    Help! :-)
    My setup:
    Airport Extreme base station 802.11n (3rd Generation) w/version 7.6.1
USB attached drives - AEBS directly connected with NewerTech MiniStack Classic 3TB w/powered hubs, divided into 2 1.5TB partitions. Attached to the MiniStack Classic via USB is a MiniStack v3 1TB drive (the other 3TB mentioned above is an OWC Mercury Elite).
Airport AND drives are plugged into an APS battery back up, so even when the power hiccups here, they don't lose power.
My computer is a Black Macbook with 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.7 (staying put because I like the flip-through-the-artwork feature, and this doesn't seem to be an iTunes problem).

I did discover a way to make all 421 files show up! I made a new folder on the partition giving me problems, and dropped all the visible files into it. As soon as I did that, the 2 missing files appeared. That would seem to indicate a number-of-files limit except for the fact that in the other partition that number doesn't apply.
I had 54 files on that partition, and I copied over an additional 400 to see if I'd only see 419. Once again, there were 2 missing files, but that means I see 452 instead of 454. And weirdly enough, it's not the last two files, but rather the first newly-copied file and the last pre-existing folder that are now not visible. They are still there (as a search finds them) but that's the only way they're found.
I wondered if partitioning caused any issues so I tried this out on my 1TB Ministack v3, and got the same result. again it was exactly 2 missing files (but these were not sequential in the list, one was one of the first added, and one in the middle). What's consistent:
    1. It's always 2 missing files (not necessarily the last ones in the list)
    2. It's limited to the root level of a drive. A folder that I put 425 items in has 425 items. If I do that at the root level, it shows 423.
    3. It only happens when the drives are connected via USB to the Extreme. Since this is something advertised by Apple as a supported use, I don't understand why it doesn't work (I've seen the numerous threads about TimeMachine issues... that is *not* what I'm doing).
I seem to be having a conversation with only myself here, but I'll keep trying anyway. There has got to be someone with an idea of what the issue is so I can try and fix it. At the moment, I'm looking at getting a Mac for a traditional server and warning anyone I come across to avoid connecting a USB drive to an Airport device unless they enjoy losing data and/or re-formatting drives every 6 months.

  • JPEG market segment length is too short

In copying a series of folders containing JPEGs, PSDs and RAW files (Canon .CR2 and Hasselblad .3F) to a new external drive (Mac OSX), there was a hiccup and a large number of the copied image files contain red dots next to them in the finder window. The files are named correctly and contain the full data size of the originals, but when attempting to open a JPEG I get the following error message:
Could not complete your request because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete).
When attempting to open a .PSD file the message is:
Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document.
When attempting to open the RAW file in Bridge, the message is:
Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.
In the Get Info window, all three file types are correctly identified as Adobe Photoshop files, Adobe Photoshop JPEG files and Camera RAW files, and each is the correct size it should be.
This happened to some, but not all of the files on the drive, and it appears to have happened randomly. I have run Data Rescue on the drive, but the rescued file still have the red dots and do not open. I've also tried other file recovery programs, as well as Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery and Jpeg Repair utilities, all to no avail.
I've tried renaming the files, and opening them from other programs such as preview, iPhoto and Lightroom. Still no luck.
I'm hoping someone has another angle for me. The data is there; it's obvious something happened that is preventing the files from opening, but it seems there should be some fix for this.
    TIA

Your opening statement said you were copying,  not moving the files.
If you were Moving the files, then the routine that was doing the moving erases behind unless they are coming from a CDROM or a write protected device..
Those files are essentially corrupted or incompatible with CC.
Did those files open okay where ever they lived before they were moved?
What was the "hiccup" that you mentioned?   A Power Hiccup ?  Then these files are toast if indeed there were in the middle of a Move..
Were you using Finder to do this task?

  • G4 Minis and the click of death?

I came home today to a dead network and the dulcet sounds of my home server (a 1.5GHz G4 Mini) going click...click...click...click, just like the infamous click of death remeniscent of Zip drives and DeskStars from a few years back. A verbose reboot (the system was totally hung when I found it) paused just after the journal was replayed (from the hard reboot) with an endless string of 'device reset the bus' messages from the IO manager.
The disk seems completely toasted...likely the result of a head crash. Odd, since it's spent the last 2 years in one spot, unmoving.
Anyone else ever experience something like this?
    -dave

Do you have a UPS and a line-voltage-sag protector for your computer?
If not (heck, even if you do): Any chance you had a power hiccup, either a little brownout (low voltage) or brief failure? (AC/kitchen stove clock a minute slower than your battery clocks in the house, for instance).
I've seen machines crash without going completely off, with a power blip.

  • On Demand has the hiccups !!!!

Everything was working fine until Saturday. Now if I try to watch anything on Demand/Replay, the picture and sound sticks, its like it has bad hiccups. On Sunday I phoned the BT vision technical support, they said my broadband speed was fine, to swap the black power boxes over, unplug and replug the vision box and reboot the home hub. I did all this and its still got the hiccups. I was also told to leave it on standby so that it can update. It has been on standby since Sunday. I don't like leaving things on standby. Any suggestions to how I can get rid of the hiccups please ?

Was happening to me Saturday night also BUT only on one episode of Undercovers, everything else was ok. Tried to watch the same programme on Sunday evening and had no problems with it. Try it again, it may just have been a glitch in the system. Hope you get it sorted.

  • Power supply to FW port OK for disk burning?

I have a Freecom FW (and USB) mobile Lightscribe burner. The manual says user external power supply for burning. This would obviously be necessary for USB connection, but there is much more power available on the 12V Firewire port. I have successfully burned a disk in error without the external supply, with no apparent harm done.
I would not expect to be able to use Lightscribe without an external supply, but I wonder if Freecom have said 'you must use an external power supply for burning' to cover USB connection and any Lightscribe use, when in fact non-Lightscribe FW burning may well be OK. Simpler for them to say 'always use for burning' than go into variations.
I have just seen this useful reply to a related question. The reply prompts the question:-
If the power drain is deemed too large and hence the power cut to the firewire port, is any harm done? We're not talking blown fuses here are we? Is it just a matter of shutting down for 10 mins to let the FW bus reset? or not even that?
    Thanks for any input.

    Hi
When the 'power' is cut to a port it is done in hardware, you could imagine it like a breaker being thrown stopping the power to the port.
There are fuses used in some computers which are 'meltable' which means if too much current is drawn the fuse melts and in doing so stops the power. Then when the power is cut the metal solidifies and conducts again. These are often used on PC's on the mouse and keyboard ports, as you are not really supposed to unplug and replug these with the power on, but as everyone does they fitted these meltable fuses to 'save' any major problems from happening. But I digress, sorry.
Freecom are probably covering themselves when they say don't burn unless using external power, as it would only need a slight hiccup and another blank CD / DVD bites the dust. Also the drain on the laptops battery will increase and if you did not realise your laptop was low on battery, burning a CD / DVD could just cause a shutdown to happen. So up to you really and if you want to take the chance.
On my PowerBook G4, which is getting on in computer terms I suppose, a shut down FireWire port sometimes required you to turn the laptop off and leave it off for 30 minutes for the FW port to reset. I think they are a bit quicker now.

  • Lookout 6 Hiccups

Sorry, this is a bit long winded....
I seem to have found the case of some of our hiccups with Lookout 6.0. We had been having problems with client workstations and extremely slow or now historical data trending on their clients. I had checked many things, including rebuilding the server and client processes, using ActiveX Trend vs. Lookout Trend and visa-versa, we used both an upgraded database and new database from scratch, etc.... I had spoken with support numerous times and they all had me trying different fixes.
    NOTE:
Client Computers Discussed are Windows XP Professional SP2
Server Computer is a Windows 2003 Server Machine
One of our new client computers would not update historical trends at all, live data was fine, it would read that data and you could see it updating, but any historical trending would not work at all. I noticed that there is a new folder structure under the following (this will vary depending on your server computer's name and your server's database you are connecting to) "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\Citadel\_LocalCache\_monet_\_c__program_files_national_instruments_lookout_6_0_database_". I noticed that on machines that were trending historical data properly (or at least as properly as they could be, still slower then 5.0), there were files in this directory that seemed to be duplicating the database file structure on the server's machine, on the machine not trending, there were no files or just a log file (don't really remember). This raised my question about how the server and client communicate when using trends, I never got a straight answer from support, except to say that they talked to R&D and supposedly this folder has nothing to do with the historical trending on the client computer.
    ***HOWEVER***
During a recent non-related software upgrade, we found an issue with user rights assignments on Windows XP Professional workstations where for some reason, if a user was part of more then one group and they were a part of the "USERS" group, they would receive restricted access on the local computer even if they were a part of "POWER USERS" or "ADMINISTRATORS". We ended up having to make users part of the "POWER USERS" group only, to solve the unrelated problem. After doing this, the user with the non-functioning client noticed that the trends started updating on his computer.....and low and behold, there is now over 200MB of data in that cache folder, something tells me that the cache folder just might have something to do with the historical trending on 6.0 client computers. Hopefully at some point this post will either give someone some insight to a similar problem or at least any other database related issues they may be having with Lookout 6.0......or at least amuse someone.
If this all sounds a little sarcastic, it probably is....
Don't get me too wrong here, I do appreciate the new functionality provided with 6.0 and the new Citadel 5.0 database structure, but I think there are some serious inefficiencies in how the database functions and it seems like there is a major lack in documentation and knowledge on how it operates in the background.

    fixthis,
I am unclear on what exactly you are seeing.  "hypertrend chart updates, but the signals do not always appear."  Do you mean the chart keeps scrolling, but the signals disappear?  When you say "data window that pops up for the hypertrend does not update the data while moving the cursor across the hypertrend chart." I assume you are referring to the cursor data window -- what method are you using to move the cursor -- by clicking the arrows on the Hypertrend, by clicking on the cursor itself and moving it, by clicking the arrows in the Cursor data window, or by manually changing the time in the Cursor data window, either by using the arrows or typing a new time in?
Does this happen with both the Lookout Hypertrend and the NI ActiveX Hypertrend object?  Does it happen when only one trace is on the Hypertrend or only with a larger number of traces?
We are very interested in knowing about Hypertrend/Citadel issues customers are experiencing, but unless we can reproduce the issue or have a very clear understanding of what is going on, it is very difficult to determine what the cause is or any possible fixes -- is it possible for you to post screen shots, and a very simple process file that will reproduce this problem?

  • Is power off and on again the same as 'reboting' iPhone?

To reboot the iPhone due to playing a big game or whatever other reason - To refresh lets say.
Is turning the power off and on again the exact same thing as holding down power and the home key together?
    Is there really any difference?
    -Frankie

This is what I tell everyone.
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

  • Intel iMac or stay with iMac G5 Power PC?

I am considering buying an Intel iMac. I currently have a Imac G5 with a Power PC processor. I use my computer for iMovies (over 300 gb's), iTunes (7000 tracks) and iPhoto (6500 photos). All of this is dual backed up on external Lacie drives as I would hate to lose any of it. I have also cloned my hard drive onto one of the Lacies's.
If I decide to take the plunge and switch to Intel can I expect to encounter any problems with any of these programmes. I am familiar with the Intel system emulator which will slow the running speed of some programmes but I am of the impression that iLife programmes are not affected.
I would be grateful to hear about any problems that may occur.
    Thank you.
    David.

    Hi David,
I too had a PPC G5 (1/2005) and pretty much use the same apps as you mentioned with the LaCie backup drive. I traded up to the 24" intel machine with 2GB RAM and the bigger graphics card. My G5 was backed up on the LaCie which was partitioned into two drives, one to backup the complete system (bootable) and one from my Home folder.
When I moved to the new machine I simply copied my applications folder from the system backup into the new applications folder and all my apps went over without a hiccup. I would avoid using the migration assistant as that caused a few problems. I can't remember exactly what they were as it was almost two months ago.
After that apps were over I did the same with my Home folder and then all my data was on the new machine.
As for the speed. It's night and day and in particular the noise level is about non-existent. Couldn't say that about my G5 which as extremely loud when you tasked the processor at anything over 40% capacity.
The experience was so good with the 24", I purchased a 17" for the kids and the process was again repeated with no problems.
Best of luck in your decision. From my perspective the Intel iMac's are awesome machines. PPC G5 doesn't even come close. Same software, but the speed and noise of this machine makes it soooo much more enjoyable.

  • Recording and playback 'hiccups'

    Hi all,
I'm new to Soundbooth and I hope you can help me out.
I'm using Soundbooth on a laptop (Lenovo, Win XP, 3GB of RAM), and I use a Samson C03U mike through a USB port.  I record directly to the laptop's hard drive.
Often when I record a longer take (say, more than 10 seconds), I experience a hiccup in the recording, say a tenth of a second of silence, and then recording resumes normally.
The hiccup can also occur during playback, which can become frustrating, as I continuously play back the audio, and keep a close eye on the 'waveform,' to decide if the hiccup is really there (from recording) or just a temporary thing that happens in playback.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Any troubleshooting advice.  Much appreciated.

EZQuest Pro Audio FW400 Plus Hard Drives are a great choice.
    http://ezq.com/productinfo.php?productsid=81
They have a larger buffer than most all other drives. Optimized for pro audio applications (Pro Tools certified). They run cool, very fast, are built into a heavy duty case, and last longer than any other drive I've owned. 2 year warranty.
A little more expensive than the others, but worth it, imo.
Seriously, consider a Pro Audio Plus Firewire drive.
I'm using the Alesis IO|26 right now also. Running tons of audio tracks. Not a hiccup in playback or 8 track live recording.
FYI, to maximize the stability of the entire set-up go in this order: use the Alesis power supply to boot and power your IO|26. Turn on your FW drive - wait for the drive to mount, then connect the IO. Then launch your software.

  • Power surge file recovery

I was working on a file n flash that had recently been saved
when the power surged and the power was lost briefly. We had to
restart teh servers that the file was locaed on. After doing that,
I see the file on the servr and it looks like it has the
appropriate file size (similar to earlier versions of the file) so
it is there, but flash (8) says "failed to open document" when I
try to open it. It will only open an earlier named version from
that morning. Is there any way to get that file to open? Or is ther
another progam that might check it for something damaged? Could it
really fry a file that was saved because it was pen during the
    surge?
    Help.

We see this same issue almost weekly here - it is always with
    people working/saving to a network
drive - it has always been not the best practice - for any
kind of file and program. Simply put -
never work/save to a network if you can help it - any hiccup
in connection or power loss will result
in a loss of work and potential file corruption.
Always save locally and *copy* to a network drive for sharing
    and backup purposes.
I know this doesnt help but your file is lost forever.
next time, if this happens - *do not close the file in flash*
    - copy all frames and paste into a
*new* fla and save it locally.

  • HP Pavilion zv5330us had intermittent power connection now all the time- jack or heatsink?

The zv5330us cannot get a good enough connection to remain on to complete full boot.  I need diagrams to locate the power jack and heat sink, CPU, or do I?  Replacing the battery didn't do a bit of good as the power isn't getting to the charging unit nor will it power on with DC Adaptor alone anymore.  This grew steadily worse.  Is there a source for tech specifications so I can replace these parts if I need to, and what about the CMOS battery?  Is it replaceable?

Connected the power source - the blue zigzag-LED power light is on in front - no error codes.  I will leave it in powered state to try and charge the battery a bit before proceeding in a few hours while I copy the drivers to a CD with the correspondent instructions in Word. This older laptop had a CD read-writer but not the newer DVD writer, I think.... So many devices, it is hard to keep them all straight.  Maybe another suggestion for a forum - how to keep all your devices straight with this software product >>>>>>> as yet unnamed <<<<<<<. Since cables and components bridge the gap between manufacturers, with small mods, it helps to get the consolidated listing of all components when you buy the things new.. HP had such a while ago and of course, I copied it onto said laptop, Pavilion zv5330us - which is, of course, the zv5000 family, unless HP broke ground with the 5300 devices - it would be lovely to see a matrix or historical exposition of how these evolved.  Sometime I think it would be better to have all the hard drives in a tower, accessible by remote, and for that I bought an HP USB drive, which had its hiccups.  Wonderful article "Cloud Services Showdown" in Maximum PC magazine, Vol 17 no 05, May 2012, comparing Google, Amazon,  Microsoft, and Apple's iCloud on page 38.  They didn't look at the HP or Linux or other commercially offered remote access to your data, nor other options in this article, just the Cloud-type services by the big 4 - but that is another Topic.

  • T540p disconnect when power supply moves

My laptop becomes disconnected when my power supply is jiggled. This causes the laptop to dim and sometimes go into airplane mode. I was wondering if anyone has a similar problem and how they resolved it.
Is it the external power supply or the internal power connector? I don't want to order parts just to find out that I got the wrong one.
    Model: 20BE004EUS
Power Supply Adapter: FRU PN 45N0264

This happens specifically when I move the plug that is connected to the jack from side to side, so I suspect it is the internal hardware of the laptop.
This looks to be the error:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T540p-Intermittent-power-supply-connector/...
It's not a big issue, and I can live with this occasional hiccup since I'm usually stationary when it is plugged in. It has not caused my significant problems, and if it is not a known serious issue, I want to avoid being separated from my device because I would have to get a technician fix this for me because it involves invasive disassembly.
Is there any danger in keeping this faulty hardware? Could having the faulty hardware limit the lifespan of my laptop significantly compared to having the faulty hardware swapped?
