Power Query 2010 missing "load to data model"

the current build of Power Query for 2010 PowerQuery_2.18.3874.242 (64-bit) [en-us].msi
seems to be missing the "load to data model" option. I assume this is deliberate - can't imagine it was a mistake. Why has this happened? When will it be back?

Hi Matt,
In Excel 2010 you cannot load directly to the Data Model using Power Query Add-in. You can load the data to worksheet or connection only, and then use Power Pivot to load it to the Data Model. This is why you don't see the Load to Data Model option.

Note: I have PowerPivot already with my excel.In Excel 2010, the data model is encapsulated by the PowerPivot addin and not accessible to the Power Query addin. You can, however, either load to the sheet or don't load at all (clear that one check box you saw) and then go to PowerPivot and find the connection(s)
that Power Query created and use them. -
We have a tool built in excel + Powerquery version 2.18.3874.242 - 32 Bit (No PowerPivot) using data load to data model (not to workbook). There are data filters linked to excel cells, inserted in OData query before data is pulled.
The Excel tool uses organisational credentials to authenticate.
System config: Win 8.1, Office 2013 (32 bit)
The tool runs for all users as long as they do not upgrade to PowerQuery_2.20.3945.242 (32-bit).
Once upgraded users can no longer get the data to load to the Model. Data still loads to the Workbook but the model breaks down. Resetting load to data model erases all measures.
Here are the exact errors users get:
1. [DataSource.Error] Cannot parse OData response result. Error: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
2. The Data Model table could not be refreshed: There isn't enough memory to complete this action. Try using less data or closing other applications. To increase memory available, consider ......Hi Nitin,

Error while loading ACS data model on server

I am installing a ACS4.6.1 framework on Tomcat3.2.3. One of the step in installation is to load the data model of ACs on oracle server.
They have given a sql script to do the same.
On running that script we get following errors:

You also need to have the db listener running. -
Excel 2013 PowerPivot Error - "PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model"
I'm attempting to use the PowerPivot add-on in Excel. When clicking 'Manage Data Model' or attempting to 'Load to data model,' I receive the error 'We couldn't load the Data Model. This may be because the Data Model in this workbook is damaged.',
followed by 'PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model.' This happens irrespective of data source type. I have Excel 2013 32-bit, PowerPivot 32-bit, running on Windows 7 OS 64-bit. I am not running an SSAS instance on my machine.

This issue seems to be caused by the October 2013 update (KB 2825655) for Excel 2013. Try to remove it or restore the system to an earlier point and check the result.

"Load to Data Model failed" error
Hi,
I tried loading the data model using the following code:
I got the above error.
In the preview I see that everything is OK, but it doesn't upload to the data model correctly - stuck on the part of "Added Custom1" onwards.
Any inputs?

Oracle BI Publisher no columns loaded from data model
Hello Guys,
I use Oracle BI Publisher 11g. Have created a data model by using
the JDBC thin connection to a 11g database. The creation of the data model
worked fine using a SQL query. Now in the report creation wizard, I select
the "guide me" option to see how nice the wizard is.
The problem comes here, on the second window I should select the columns
but I only read "no columns available". Why is that?Hi Metalray
For BIP report sample XML data is importent. with sample data you cannot generate the BIP reports.
Follow the below steps, you can achieve your expected BIP output
After crating data set in the data medel save the data model then click on
--get XML output option on right side of the top-corner.
-- then selet no. for the nuber of rows to return dropdown option,
--then click on Run. Then save the sample data by clicking on Save as sample data option.
--then it will take you to the data model page, now again save the data model
--and use it for creating the reports.
Now you were able to see the available columns in the the second window of guide me option

Power Query Doesn't Load Complete CSV FIle After Pivot Transform

Before the Table.Pivot my View is as follows:
It runs down to row 18,200 or so. I chose a smaller file to make things simpler.
After the Table.Pivot as written above this is what my view shows:
So I received only one row. Is there a way to make it all rows?
(For background: the CSV file is from a PICK database that has multi-variate fields where all but one of the fields has multiple values correlated with multiple values in other fields.)

Missing toolbar in data model editor
Hi,
I just received an rdf file from one of my collegues.
i can open the file without any problems but when i go to the data model tool i don't see any tool bar.
it impossible to add any placeholder columns and so on without this tool bar, because i'm not allowed to add any object from the object navigator either.
i'm allowed to delete objects though.
tool version is reports 6.0.8.11.3
when changing to the layout editor i see the toolbar and when i start a new report from scratch the tool bar appears.
any help greatly appreciated.

kimhaving worked with reports quite a lot i wasn't aware
that you could toggle this toolbar on and off.But I also have forms where the toolbar tunrs itself off for no apparent reason. And yes, you can turn it back on with the View menu, but that doesn't explain why it is disappearing.

Moving Power Query from Excel to SSAS
We are using Excel 2013 Power Query and PowerPivot to build data models that will be moved to SSAS Tabular. Are there any gotchas that will not import? I have seen in testing that we have to be careful about importing files. Excel likes drive letters and
SQL Server prefers the UNC path. We aren't likely to have many/any files in the production state, but I'm wondering if there are other gotchas like this, especially with Power Query.Any ideas for Mike?

Cube loaded with data, but unavailable in the query

Someone can help me?
I created a new Cube CO-PA for the year 2010, and loaded with data this year. To make sure that the data were correct did a ListCube, with all the filter equal to the query, and indeed the data is loaded properly for this year. And when i run the query with data from the years 2008 and 2009 show me data in my report, but when I run the query for 2010, the query displays an error message saying that "no data".
How is it possible to have the correct data in the Cube, and i can not view the data in the query?
Note: The request in the cube is available to report

I built two calculated columns in order to create PRimary and Foreign keys for relations.
I saved the xlsx file several times
I Closed the xlsx file
I reopened the xlsx file but, bad news, the
Power Query ribbon and the Power Pivot ribbon are gone !
I can check the the data connections are still there.
What happened? What did I miss ?

I have a Power Query Table named as Final Table - this table has inturn been loaded to the Data Model. I would like to use this Table (Final Table) as a source for creating another Power Query Table (I want to perform further actions on the
Final Table to create yet another Table). So I just want to know what I should specify in the Source (the first line after the Let statement) in the Advanced Editor.
I do not see any option in the Power Query Ribbon to create an existing Power Query Table as a source.

(Note that you probably don't need to load this table to the Data Model, but only the one which includes all your transformations. To unload the first table, open Workbook Queries pane select Final Table and after right click, select "Load To".
In the Load To dialog uncheck the Load to Data Model option).

Powerpivot 2013 doesn't work on Excel 2013 / Office 365: data model issue

I recently upgraded my Office 2010 to Office 365, with Excel 2013. Before installing Office 365 I uninstalled Office 2010. I'm running Windows 8 64 bits.
I have the Powerpivot 2013 add-in, I can activate it without any issue. However when I click on "manage" on any spreadsheet (including new empty ones) I have an error "We
couldn't load the Data Model. This may be because the Data Model in this workbook is damaged.", followed by "PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model".
I tried to repair the installation to no avail. I tried to launch excel in admin mode, nothing better.
This issue seems to be shared by some other people on this forum but
with no satisfactory answer so far.
I had a SQL server 2012 plugin installed previously which I uninstalled as well, but no change.
Would you think of something else?
