Power supply freezes after running vi second time

Hello,
I am just starting my adventures in brave new world of LabView and I run into a problem with my first serious vi which is controling CPX400DP power supply and DPO4104 oscyloscope.
What my vi should be doing:
First it sets current levels of both channels of power supply (e.g. 5V on first, 0V on second) and size of the jump (e.g. 0.5V). Then vi should change both current levels by size of the jump and repeat till the current levels of both channels would be reverse to the start value (in this case, 0V on first channel, 5V on second). Also before every current change the vi would save to file mean of measurements out of the waveform from oscyloscope.
What my vi is doing:
At first run it seems that it's doing everything in order (new text file with resonable numbers is created). However, when I try to run the vi a second time my power supply freezes short after few current changes. I can stop the execution of the vi in LabView (it does take a while though) but to successfully run the vi again I must reset my power supply (turn it off and on).
I tried to go around this problem by modyfing the vi in a way that it would do what I want multiple times during running the vi only once but unfortunately that didn't work.
If anyone would have any suggestions about what I am doing wrong or how to help fix this problem feel free to share I don't bite... much  But seriously, I'm stuck with this problem for over a week and I'll be glad for any tips
Thanks!
Waldek.
PS Sorry if I am not clear somewhere but I'm not used to talk about programing in English
PSS In attachments are my main vi and two sub vis.

Thanks for a suggestion Bill but could you elaborate a bit on "try inserting ;*OPC? after every setup command"? I understand what that would do, concept wise, but as a new user I don't know how to do that in LabView. And Good Uncle Google doesn't say anything about " ;*OPC? " and insist on talking about OPC servers instead.
I'm sorry - I was looking at the manual and failed to realize that the missing subVIs from your code were actually drivers for your power supply, so you may not be able to implement this (unless the drivers themselves have the "Operation Complete" capability - hopefully the drivers came with documentation).  Else, you may be stuck having to hardcode waits after each command.
If you wrote your own drivers, this is how you would send the command to set output 1 to 1 Volt:
V1 1;*OPC?
The V1 1 sets your voltage to 1 Volt.  To tack on another command, you use the semicolon.  The *OPC? command forces it to return send a "1."  SInce the commands are acted upon sequentially, the power supply can't send the "1" until it is done processing the command to set it to 1 Volt.  After that command is complete, the "1" is sent, you read the 1 out of the buffer and move on.  This avoids issues where you pile on too many commands at once.  I checked the manual and it supports this feature.

    Hi Alex,
    Try disconnecting everything from the Mac including power supply, give it a few seconds, while waiting unplug keyboard and plug into different USB PORT, now re-connect power supply and turn on machine... see if you can get your Mac to boot up properly... here's a link explaining the procedure: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301733

  • Videos freeze after 5-7 seconds, no audio at all - Google Chrome

    Win7 x64
    Google Chrome 21.0.1180.60 m
    Flash version 11.3.31.222
    My os is 64-bit, but the "what version of flash are you running" window says it's 32-bit. Which strikes me as odd. Anyway,
    Problem is basically laid out in the subject. No matter what video I try to play, it freezes after a few seconds. There is no audio whatsoever. I tried the uninstall (using the uninstaller) I found in another Flash forum, but it didn't help. As a matter of fact, running the uninstaller made no difference at all. Videos still played for a few seconds, sans audio, then froze.
    Is there a fix for this? It only started happening yesterday.
    Update: Also happens in Firefox. IE works fine.

    Our Chrome browser not only automatically updates it's version (21.0.1180.60m) without notice , but the Shockwave Flash (11.3.31.222/ 11.3.300.268) plugins too!!!
    I had to disable 11.3.31.222 along w. 11.3.300.268 and have 11.2 r202 (11.2.202.235) solely enabled again because this time, i had 'shockwave plugin unresponsive' at some websites that stalled pages, and of 11.3.300.268., 'unresponsive shockwave plugin' refused to play YT.

  • Why is my Garageband freezing after a few seconds of recording after recent iTunes and other updates?

    I use garagband regulalry for voice recording. It now freezes after a few seconds(if that) of recording. I use an Audio Technica usb mic with no problems. I remember this happening with GB afer another OS upgrade in the past.. Is there a problem or should I be looking for something on my setup? I run 14gb of ram, have a timemachine connected and use an apogee duet.

    No problem ; if you look at the question you posted initially - your forst post-, it is signed with a profile signature as the last line:

    Hi Teodorafrombc,
    Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    If your computer is becoming unresponsive, you may want to see if specific applications are causing this behavior. Try using the Force Quit menu to check for unresponsive applications:
    Using the Force Quit feature of OS X makes an application close, even when it is not responsive.
    Important: Normally you should not need to force quit an app to close it. When an app is forced to quit, any unsaved changes to open documents are not saved, so try these methods to normally close the app first:
    Choose Quit from the app menu. For example, in Safari, choose Safari > Quit Safari.
    Choose Quit by right-clicking or control-clicking on an app's icon in the Dock
    You can find the article with these steps here:
    OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3411
    If your display is going blank or seems to be going to sleep unexpectedly, try these steps first:
    Reset the system
    You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    You can find the article with these steps and more information here:
    Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays

    If these steps don't resolve the issue, feel free to reply with more information about the symptoms you are experiencing.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • Power Supply Fan Always Runs Full Throttle - Mac Pro (Early 2008)

    My Mac Pro has been almost flawless since I purchased it new in February 2008. I did not purchase the AppleCare because I rather naively assumed at the time that my shiny new Mac Pro was an invincible machine. (I was seduced by Apple after all!) Well, that was when I was younger (about 2.5 years ago) and before I knew about the actual cost of things like Logic Boards and Apple Power Supplies... Now the $250 AppleCare lifeline seems like a bargain!
    The Problem:
    1 week after installing Windows 7 64-bit to a separate internal hard drive using boot camp 3.1, my Mac Pro was playing music from the local iTunes library in Snow Leopard when the power supply fan revved up to 2760 rpm! I immediately tried rebooting the machine, resetting the PRAM and SMC several times, but the fans continue to throttle up to almost 2800 rpm within seconds of powering on the Mac.
    I have run the Apple Hardware Test several times and every time it generates the same error code within 1 loop of either the extended or regular test:
    4SNS/1/40000001: lp0C-0.000
    An Apple Support technician was kind enough to "sneak" me a little bit of information about the error code. He told me the message is Logic Board Sensor related and could be caused by a faulty Logic Board, Sensor Board (Ambient Board?), Power Supply or possibly a faulty sensor that might be repairable.
    Emotion:
    Other than my 6 month old daughter eyeing the Mac Pro with the same suspicion she reserves for the Dyson vacuum cleaner, the computer still works fine--it hasn’t crashed in either Windows 7 64-bit or Snow Leopard and I haven’t noticed any unusual behavior. I had one other problem with this computer about 1 year ago when I installed Vista using boot camp. About a week after the Vista install, the OEM ATI HD 2600 XT completely died and I replaced it with a GTX 285.
    I have grown a little suspicious about the efficiency of boot camp in the Windows environment, but perhaps the 2 separate boot camp installs and subsequent hardware failures are coincidence or related to the hardware issue I am yet to resolve...?
    Hopefully, someone in the Apple community will offer guidance to a swift and economical solution!
    Thank you in advance for your time.

  • Video freezes after a few seconds

    This is actually a continuation of a post I made almost a year and a half ago, trying to get video chat going so my mom can visit with her grandkids. The thread has been archived, so I can't post there but in case it helps here's the address:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1658017&tstart=0
    We are both running Tiger 10.4.11 and iChat AV 3.1.9 (v446), although she's on a 1.25 GHz G4 with 1.5 GB of RAM, and I'm on a 1.8 GHz iMac G5 with 1 GB of RAM. We both have the exact same videocamera, Canon Elura 70, attached via Firewire. Both computers recognize the cameras fine, no problems there.
    Anyway, my sister and I have tried 1,000 different things but nothing works. I can always see her but not hear her, and the connection is dropped after a few seconds, saying there's insufficient bandwidth to maintain the conference. She can't see me at all, but she can hear me. The chat usually ends with error -20 and sometimes -22. For instance, here's the log from our try today:
    *2010-01-29 11:49:30 -0600: No data has been received for the last 10 seconds.*
    *Audio channel info: local machine using 10.0.1.3:16386, expecting remote machine to send to 97.83.147.78:56754*
    *Video channel info: local machine using 10.0.1.3:16384, expecting remote machine to send to 97.83.147.78:56752*
    *Chat ended with error -20*
    *Chat ended with error -20*
    *Chat ended with error -22*
    *Chat ended with error -22*
    The thing is, we can video conference successfully (video and audio) with each other from separate rooms if we're both at her house, as well as from separate rooms when we're both at mine. However, when we're each at our own home, it won't work. She's got a download speed of 8.5, and mine is 8.3. Her upload speed is 1.01 and mine is 1.74.
    I am connected through a router - SMC Barricade (SMC7004VBR), and a WebStar modem. We've both taken the tape out of our camera, set our bandwidth limit in iChat to none. System Preferences > Quicktime > Streaming is at 1.5Mbps. I've learned how to access my router settings but I don't see a DoS or SPI setting. It shows firewall features are disabled.
    We've also tried to connect with Skype instead, and I was able to see my sister without it freezing. But she couldn't see me, so it still didn't fully work.
    I'm totally at a loss. Any ideas?
    Edit: Forgot to say her modem is an Ambit U10C018.

    Wow, thank you so much for the detailed response. I'm actually feeling a little bit of hope that we might get this figured out eventually!
    iChat 3.x at both ends.
    Can Login and show Buddy Lists
    Can Send Visible Invites.
    Can Start Video Chat but something says the Bandwidth is then not good enough.
    Error Message.
    All true, except she has never been able to see me unless we're both in the same my house.
    The Intranet /LAN setting in Tiger for iChat 3 also returns Odd figures to
    iChat so we have long said set it to 1.5Mbps which your last post says it is.
    I take it you must have restarted iChat f not the Mac(s) since you changed
    this setting ? (Just covering all bases)
    Right.
    Have you changed the range the SMC uses to miss the range the modem is using ?
    The only change I've made to anything recently is in iChat prefs: Under Accounts - Server settings, I changed the top port to 443 because regular iChat kept disconnecting at odd times and I read somewhere that it might help. But we had this AV problem long before that, and after.
    I see the SMC cannot Forward enough ports for iChat but Can do UPnP
    (Universal Plug and Play)
    Is it set to do UPnP ?
    I don't see anything that says UPnP. It says:
    GATEWAY
    IP Address: 192.168.2.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP Server: Enabled
    Firewall: Disabled
    On the Port Forward site there are two WebSTARs listed under
    Scientic Atlanta
    DO you have either of these ?
    No, it is a DPC2100.
    I could also do with seeing an old log of an Error 20 log.
    They are stored in You Home Folder/Library/Logs/iChatConnectionErrors
    Can you post the bits down and only down to the line that starts "Binary Images for iChat"
    Pasted at bottom of this post.
    Can you tell me if there is a Wifi and Ethernet connection to the Router ? (at > the same time )
    My husband's PC is connected to the router via Ethernet. The only other things connected to it are the modem and my Airport Express so I can get online with my Macs. (I used to have the iMac connected by Ethernet before I realized I had an Airport card. Duh.)
    Thanks so much for your patience and help!

  • Power shuts down after 1-2 seconds?

    I've been very happy with this computer for about a year:
    Mobo = K9N SLI Platinum (MS 7250) 570 SLI (this one was rma'ed last year due to the cd burn issue)
    RAM = 4X 1G Corsair Dominator
    CPU = AM2 dualcore 5200
    Video=MIS NX8800GTS 320
    PWR=700W OCZ GameXStream PS
    I turned it on the other day and system power cuts out after about 1 or 2 seconds.
    So far I have not been able to boot the system at all.
    I have observed the D-Bracket with 4 red lights, but I don't know if it really has time to run it's test cycle before the power cuts out...
    I'm not really sure how to start trouble shooting this issue.
    PS? CPU? Mobo?
    Any sugestions are welcome. Can the mobo do this by itself? I was reading the manual but did not see it that use case described anywhere.
    Thanks
    Chris.

    Can't really defend the motherboard, but Belkin card and DVD-burner can have problems all of their own. And if we can help you with one of those things the failure rate is down dramatically.
    Belkin card bottom PCI-slot. On-board disabled. Sometimes disabling a service, which I can't remember right now - zeroconfig...? - can help. How do you know it does not work?
    Set UDMA2 for the DVD-burner. But you should also say what it is.
    Add: Mysterious problems is often Windows related. How about taking unnecessary things out, use a clean hard disk and do a fresh installation?

  • VTY shell freezes after a few seconds?

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing an odd issue; I don't start the X server at boot however, after a few seconds the VTY will just freeze totally?
    The system hasn't hung as I can still access over the network via SSH, and the X server when started (via SSH) works fine.
    Basically after a few seconds there is no keyboard input, though at first it does work. So after logging into user account I can use it properly before it will just freeze and I will forced to login through the network using SSH.
    Last night after a kernel update it seems the issue got remedied but after a reboot seems to have come back.
    Kernel version is: 3.17.3-1 64 bit
    The actual system is a Zotac D2550 ATOM mini-itx board
    keyboard is standard USB PC keyboard
    On boot there was a kernel message about something needing to be run with update, but it went too fast for me to catch and couldn't find it in my logs again. I wonder if that's the issue?
    Could anyone suggest something I could try in order to be able to debug this? I can provide more information if needed, though at present I'm not sure what. I also attempted to search for the issue but most results came back with kernel freeze which isn't what I'm experiencing as it seems to be either related to usb devices or the VTY shell specifically.
    Thanks.
    [EDIT]
    Actually I have just tested and keyboard is not functioning even when running the X server - though it does function at first like stated above.
    Quick extra edit, did some more digging:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=185273
    seems related.
    GPU is Nvidia! forgot to mention that; lspci mentions it as GT610 - currently using "nvidia" package perhaps I should be using one of the other ones?

    The shell is Bash, however I am not sure if it's the shell or VTY directly?? Basically it seems that the input doesn't work any more after a few seconds.... perhaps something to do with USB layer in kernel?
    Shell otherwise from SSH is fine (Bash again). Also cursor is flashing but just no input after a while.
    Unfortunately I don't see anything
    Output of dmesg just shows:

    Nothing related in journalctl.

  • Logic pro crashes / freezes after running about a hour after updating

    Hope anyone can help me.
    I use G5 powermac.
    Had 10.3.x running with Pro6 with no problems (because of that I'm a big mac fan
    I updated to Pro7.2.x and also to OSX 10.4.8 when the problem started
    It's a strange problem, it seems something happens in my computer after a period of time.
    Logic is always crashing / freezes after working with it for about 1 hour (not sure exact time). When I just leave my mac on for the same period of time not running logic and start up Logic later it also freezes imidiately. But only logicpro seems to have this problem. All other programs working well.
    I need to restart my computer to start working again and then again after a period logic crashes again. I also installed logic express but express works well.
    I already reinstalled everything a few times and also working with just the basic (no plugs, interal audio, no hardware, no extra memory ect.) didn't help. I did changed discdrives, internal memory ect.
    Hope anyone has an idea what it can be
    Thanks for helping

  • IChat 4.0 on leopard freezes after about 5 seconds

    I have a 24'' iMac and my wife has a 13'' macbook. We both have the most updated version of leopard on our computers. The problem is that whenever we try to do a video chat with each other, my video freezes up after about 5 seconds, and hers keeps going. We both have set our bandwidth limit to none in ichat and the streaming speed in System prefs> Quicktime to 1.5 Mbps. Anyone know what else could cause this? Thanks

    A "Crash" of an application is a Specific thing where you get an Error message saying it "Unexpectantly Quit" and a Log in the relevant Crash Error logs in Console. The marker underneath the app in the DOCK would also disappear.
    An App that Freezes or part of the display of it Freezes would not normally be considered as to have Crashed.
    Having said that I have had a repeatable issue where a Tester with me could definitely Crash my iChat. Sure enough each time he tried to call my iChat Unexpectantly Quit.
    It turned out it was a faulty router at his end.
    The Video freezing is normally a Bandwidth Issue (the 363k is fast enough tht this should not happen based on those speeds or the ones you tested)
    It can be down to how busy the Processor is with on-line Widgets like Weather and Clock and others. or Background apps and Utilities
    The way to see those is to open the Activity Monitor.

  • Thread won't run a second time

    Using JDK 1.4.1 on a Windows 2000 box
    After a thread is created, started and completes, it is not possible to start the same thread object a second time.
    I'm not sure what's going on here. It seems that a thread pool implementation could never work if what I've found is true. This seems unlikely, but my test program is very simple. If you run it you will notice that run() is called after the first start(), but not after the second. The isAlive() state returns false as expected after the join(), so it appears the thread has finished executing. I've tried sleeping in various ways waiting for the thread to start the second time, but it never starts.
    public class ThreadTest
        private static class MyThread extends Thread
            final public void run()
                System.out.println( "run() called" );
        private static void testThreadRestart()
            for ( int i = 0; i < 10; i++ )
                System.out.println( i );
                try
                    MyThread thread = new MyThread();
                    System.out.println( "start() called 1" );
                    thread.start();
                    thread.join();
                    System.out.println( "thread.isAlive() = " + thread.isAlive());
                    //Thread.sleep( 60000 );
                    System.out.println( "start() called 2" );
                    thread.start();
                    thread.join();
                    System.out.println( "thread.isAlive() = " + thread.isAlive());
                    // Try a sleep loop to wait for the thread to start.
                    for ( int j = 0; j < 1000; j++ )
                        Thread.sleep( 1 );

    I found the following information in "Concurrent Programming in Java" 2nd Edition, by Doug Lea.
    "Threads are not restartable, even after they terminate. Invoking start more than once results in an InvalidThreadStateException."
    The first part seems to be true, but the second part is only true if the thread is still alive. Once the thread completes, calling start() a second time results in no exception and no action.
    I did not find any such information in Sun's documentation.
    Apparently a thread pool implementation relies on threads that never "finish". That is the thread object never exits the run() method, but employs a mechanism by which it accepts new tasks, executes them. When the task completes, the thread's run() method loops and waits for a new task. run() is never exited.

  • C++/CUDA DLL fails to give correct results when running a second time

    Hi all.
    I just finished writing a C++/CUDA DLL that runs in labview.
    It passes a 3d array, crunches the data, then spits out some results as a 2d array.
    When I open labview, and run it, I get the predicted results. However if I run the labview code again, it gives me garbage data.
    I have to not only close the open VI, but all of labview itself, reopen it, and then it will work again for one run.
    I read a thread on somthing similar to this happening with C++ code due to the way labview handled threads, however this was over 10 years ago, and it seems that since LV 2008 this has been fixed. I am running LV 2011.
    In my code, I checked that all dynamic memory allocated gets deleted, both on the GPU and CPU so other than that, I'm not sure what the problem could be. What changes when I call the DLL a second time?
    Please ask me to clarify anything that you might need to know about the program, and its implimentation.
    I have written other labview DLLs in just C++ that have not had this problem, so I wonder if it is a CUDA specific thing, or maybe somthing else I am overlooking.

    It seems to be that something not properly closed. What you can try is - unload DLL.
    CUDA Compute Context should be theoretically not necessary if your CUDA functions executed "all in one call" (and properly closed at all). The reason for NI Compute is following: it is not guaranteed that thread safe DLL calls will be called in the same thread. So, for example if you have three separate DLL calls in LabVIEW, for example - transfer data to GPU memory, compute, transfer back to the host - they should be done in the same thread (in CUDA terms all functions should be executed within same context). You can call these functions in UI thread - it will work, but the UI thread will be blocked. Or you can mark calls as thread safe, and using NI Compute - then all three calls will be done within same thread and this thread is separated from UI thread.
