Powerbook G4 out of Warranty - Cost to fix?

I have a 1Ghz G4 powerbook with the horizontal fritz issue. It is out of warranty. I read the other "long" post on the fritz issue, but could not determine if Apple still offers the fixed price repair of this issue? I saw that it was $350, but could not tell if that is still offerred. Can anyone confirm or deny the availability of this service?

There are 387 posts in the thread you refer to, not 5000. Since that thread was finally locked last fall, there have been no new posts here about the multiple different symptoms and underlying problems that all got mixed up in it, or about how Apple dealt with any of them. You can wait for people who contributed to that thread to tell you what the outcome was for them. But like it or not, only Apple is going to decide what it's willing to do about your problem.

IPhone 4s (out-of-warranty) cost of screen repair?

So I have an iPhone 4s that I know is out-of-warranty. I do not have Applecare+. Today at work my phone got knocked off a table onto the floor, and when I checked the phone, everything was working fine. But when I went to check it on my break a couple hours later, the screen was shades of blue/whiteblack with vertical lines running up and down the screen. My phone still vibrates/rings when getting a call, and it will light up the screen when I get a notification, but the screen itself has no functionality. I can't see anything. And everything else about the handset is perfect--no cracks or broken glass, just a small chip on the back bottom left corner and a small scratch on the front bottom left corner glass that have been there since about 6 months in when I dropped it in a parking lot. I know it is some sort of internal hardware issue and not a software problem because I took a screenshot of my blue striped screen and then looked at the photo via the iCloud photo stream on my PC. The screenshot looks like my normal screen with the time and everything on it. I really feel like the screen just has a connection knocked loose or something.
I know that the phone is out-of-warranty, and that I will have to pay for a repair/replacement--I don't mind having to pay to fix it--but I am wondering if it will be even possible to get it fixed at the Genius Bar, or will they just turn me away and tell me I need to purchase a brand new handset at full price (which I really cannot afford) because I am out of warranty.
Any advice?

So no chance of just getting the screen fixed by Apple? I was trying to avoid winding up with a refurbished phone.

Out of Warranty Cost

My laptop runs good, every part works but after owning it for 6 years, it has had its share of being dropped. Do you all offer a flat out of warranty fee that would cover replacing the lower housing or the casing?

Plastics Kit 5979162-001 comes with the following.

I bought my macbook pro when it first came out, had to have a screen replaced due to pixel failure 7 months later. Now again im having one fail, then another, and now a cluster has failed. My mac is out of warranty but IM ******, I bought a $2700 Laptop to have to change the screen once a year?! this is BS

Maybe you should of bought the Applecare extended warranty. You had all of the first year to buy that.
Now all you can do is go to an Apple store and Ask if it will be changed free of charge and if not you will have to pay for it.

IPhone -no wifi - out of warranty costs UK

I have a 3G phone which is a replacement issued in May for a previous fault. Since the 3.0 upgrade I have had intermittent problems with no wi-fi and despite restoring, various resets and so on, the problem is now permanent. I called Apple and, in short, they told me it was out of warranty (3 months since 11 May) and I could pay for a repair at £140. Even if this repair took 5 minutes in a retail store, it would still be £140.
This appears to be a known fault, and it started well within the 3 months (that I did not know applied). I do not think the repair charges are at all reasonable, and my only option appears to be to put up with this for the remainder of the contract and then get a new device, not an iPhone. I will be unable to sell this one as it is broken. I would sooner smash the phone with a hammer than pay £140 for the repair, but I need Wifi too, especially when travelling. The network, 02, are useless and no help.
So I guess I will be getting a pay as you go something else and sitting out the contract with O2, then that is the end for me an the iPhone!
Pity because my house is full of Apple stuff (G5 powermac, 2 x iMac, Macbook, old iPhone, Aple TV, 2 x old iPod and a iPod Touch)
Any suggestions to help resolve this, or choice of a new phone?

I have had my iPhone replaced three times in total by Apple (despite having insurance with O2). On two occasions, the phone was replaced due to Wi-Fi problems. I demonstrated in store that the Wi-Fi was not stable, and they replaced it no questions asked.

Current Out of Warranty replacement cost in Canada, for an iPhone 4?

Does Apple replace the broken phone with a new phone, or a refurbished one? If you had an iPhone 4 before, will they replace it with a new model, and you pay the appropriate out of warranty cost?

$169 Canadian to replace it, plus shipping if you don't go to an Apple Store. You'll almost certainly get a refurbished unit.

New powerbook battery - 1 year warranty? How to register?

Recently bought a second battery for my 15" G4/1.33. The powerbook is out of warranty, but I wanted to register the battery. From what I see at Apple's web site, though, there's no way to register a battery serial number for warranty purposes. Anyone know different? Is the battery covered by 1 year warranty? It works fine, I just wanted to be sure re. coverage, especially as some batteries have had problems in the past (e.g., the battery recall). Given the price of batteries, I would hope they're covered!
Anyone know how to register? Or do you have to call Applecare?

Why "common sense"? As opposed to stated specifications and international laws?
Anyway, there's a little booklet-type warranty card in the box with the battery, sealed in plastic, which is entitled "One (1) Year Limited Warranty - Worldwide".
Re. common sense, seeing as Apple sells these batteries thru its web site store, and the batteries are compatible with a lot of powerbooks that are out of warranty, clearly the warranty on the battery refers to the battery, not the powerbook.
I guess Apple just goes by the date on the sales receipt, which is okay; it's just that they usually want you to register the product at their site too.
Re. the warranty not being good for one year: I think this should be supported by people's experiences. Anyone ever get denied coverage on a new battery that was faulty?
I guess Apple could always debate what "faulty" means, i.e. if a fairly new battery only lasts 1 hour, to me that's faulty, but maybe to Apple it's just "normal wear and tear". Whatever.
Though in Apple's warranty terms for the battery, they clearly state "if a hardware defect arises and a valid claim is received within the warranty period..." etc. I guess it could be just up to Apple's customer service people to decide what a "defect" is. Oh well.

My button has stopped working and Apple refuse to fix it. This started happening 9 months after purchase. Product now out of warranty, but the fault is common.

A few months ago my iPhone 4 button stopped working and has made my phone unusable. Most of my friends that have had iPhones for about a year have a similar fault.
I recently contacted Apple to discuss this and ask how to fix it. They said that it would cost £140 as it is 1 day out of warranty. I should have called a few weeks ago.
As it is known that the fault happens gradually over a period of weeks, I fail to understand how that is not an issue Apple would like to chase up and fix. So, Apple, if this is common, then your design is faulty. I will no longer recommend iPhone to friends.
If anyone else has had a similar experience, do please post your comments here. I'm now chasing up apple to find out if it really does cost £140 to repair something that is broken due to a manufacturing fault.

I don't believe it is as common as you believe it is, I've only known one person with a defective home button (and I know many people with iPhones) and she took it in and had it replaced under warranty.
Did you take your phone in to an Apple Store or did you call? Either way, make a Genius Bar appointment at an Apple Store and ask to talk to the manager and explain your situation calmly. If that fails, call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to customer service. Again, discuss it calmly.

Cost to repair out-of-warranty t60

I love my out-of-warranty t60 and rather than store it, i wanted to see if fixing is worth it.
The only problem it has is the display screen. The blacklight gradually grew dim/red and now it does not come on for longer than 2 seconds on first boot. Thus, the laptop can only be used with an external monitor.
How do I got about paying for repairs via Lenovo/IBM paid repair service? What would be the estimated cost involved? I remember about 2 yeas ago i paid around 250$ to replace my cooling fan. I tried emailing the rep I dealt with but got no reply.

Out of Warranty replacement for phone fixed elsewhere

Hi guys!
I dropped my phone and smashed the screen. The phone was out of warranty when I did it. I had it fixed by a local repair shop and it was working fine.
I'm now having problems elsewhere in the phone (which may or may not be related to the repair)
Can anyone tell me whether I could get an out of warranty replacement with Apple? I'm happy to pay the out of warranty replacement cost.

Apple does not have a trade-in program. You can either try and restore your iPod, or you can try and sell it yourself. In some locations, Apple does provide for a recycling program, but the amount provided for devices is quite low.

Apple no longer sells the iPhone 5. They keep a number of units on hand for out of warranty service, which is $269 in the US.
Buying from Craiglist (or on-line) is usually risky as the phones turn out to be not what they are advertised as.

Apple should be fixing this problem for free. It is a hardware issue. Check the Web. A lot of your customers are having the same problem. If I have to spend money to fix this I will be choosing a different cell phone provider

That the problem has happened to someone else, or even to a couple of dozen people, does not make it a "widespread problem". Apple has sold millions of iPhones, so even if hundreds have experienced the problem that's still a very small failure rate.
Your iPhone is out of warranty, so you will need to pay for service. If Apple finds this to be a screen issue, in many Apple Stores they can replace the screen for US $149. If it's not a screen issue or your local Apple Store can not yet replace the screen, then Apple replaces the entire iPhone. Those are their policies, and complaining about it, particular here in these user-to-user forums, will accomplish nothing.
You are free to pay some unauthorized shop to attempt repair, or attempt your own repair, if you wish, though you will void any further support from Apple, for any price, if you do.
There is nothing more anyone here can tell you.

I am not sure what device you are trying to replace the battery on, but usually the battery is at least 30% of the cost of the device from what I have read. Apple likes to keep a monopoly on batteries I think. I have never seen them replace a battery at the store, usually they have to ship it out. You can find batteries for sale online, but you will have to crack the device open yourself.
