Powerpoint slides within a portlet

Do you know how to scroll through a series of powerpoint slides every 5 seconds within a portlet that will work in both IE and Netscape?

Hi Yeuker,
A bit odd indeed ;)
Ussualy its best to qualify your parameters inside a portlet, so if eg, you post your portlet twice on a page, your dealerNumber is unique for each portlet instance.
In your code you do something like this
String dealerNum = request.getQualifiedParameter("dealerNumber")and
<input type="text" name="HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(pr, "dealerNumber")"/>If im not mistaken.
On the other hand, if you dont quality your parameter, if you have 2 instances of the same portlet on your page, both will read the same dealerNumber value. I use this for some of my java pdk servlet portlets.
I did have to add <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams> to my provider though.
Hope this helps.

  • In CS6 - how can I un-blur text within a photo taken at a seminar of a powerpoint slide presentation

    Is there a way in CS6 to un-blur or "clean-up" text within a photo taken during a powerpoint slide show presentation at a seminar ?

    You can import pictures into programs such as Photoshop and sharpen them or make other corrections but the results will depend on how much information remains in your photo.  It is always better to work with the original image than to copy it out of a power point presentation.  I am moving the discussion to the Photoshop forum in case you need more help.

  • Inserting Video into Powerpoint Slide

    I need to place digital video into a powerpoint slide, what would be the quicktime settings, should it be interlaced or progressive?

    In addition to those things already suggested I would add the following:
    If the presentation is being run from a windows platform (likely if you are preparing for powerpoint), they usually handle mpeg or wmv files better than quicktime.
    When making the mpeg or wmv, don't set the resolution or bit rates too high. There are usually fairly high overheads of memory and processor usage in running a video within the presentation and if the resolution or bit rate is too high the system won't keep up. This results in poor quality video, dropped frames etc. For the same reason it is a good idea not to resize the video in the presentation. Audiences usually accept slightly soft or blocky video better than stuttering ones.
    Make sure the files are copied to the system's hard drive and not run from a CD. Laptop drives often have trouble keeping up with higher data rates and they are usually set to spin down when not in use for a while.
    Test the result on the target system!!! If you can't access the target system find a slow one to test it on unless you know the performance of the one it will be run on.
    Our company does live event work as well as post-production and we often see bad results, usually accompanied by comments like "it ran all right at home (on son/daughter's gaming machine), but it isn't working very well on my (5 year old) laptop".
    In summing up, I would suggest being conservative rather than trying to impress with dazzling effects and huge high resolution pictures.

  • Use FMS & Actionscript to Stream Audio/Video and control (powerpoint) slides

    Hi there,
    My compnay provides webcasting services to numerous clients, and we currently use Windows Media Encoder as our base software for these projects.
    However, I'm interested in switching to Flash Media Server, but need to figure out one issue and how to implement it in such a way like how we are currently using Windows Media Encoder.
    We need a way to stream out a live audio/video feed AND have a way to control a presenter's POWERPOINT slides and have them advance by our command when streaming live.
    Basically, the way we do it is we will stream out audio/video from WME and also use the encoder's SCRIPTING functions to send out a "url"  from the encoder to the actual page in which the viewer is watching the live embedded stream.  On that page is an embeded/internal frame which we can specify (using the id/name) that the url gets loaded, and this actually advances the slides (or more so pulls up a pre-created html page of the next slide in the person's powerpoint, which is actually a screenshot or exported image of that slide and embedded within a specific HTML file and hosted on the same server as the embedded player/html file)
    Would there be a way to send out this same type of script using FMS?   I've been playing around with it and notice the interface itself does not have a built in scripting function like Windows Media Encoder does. However, I did read somewhere that it supports ActionScript... but I have no clue how to implement this feature.
    I am just curious how it might be able to go about doing this?  Is there a way to use an [action]script with FMS and have it send out a URL to a specific frameset embedded on the same page as the Flash Media Encoder Playback?
    Hopefully this make sense and that someone can point me in the right direction.  Switching to FMS over Windows Media Encoder is the way I would love to go, just need to figure out how this could be done.
    Would a better method be converting the powerpoint slides to a swf or flv file, embedding that file within the same page as the FMS playback, and somehow using a script to "advance" the frames/slides/scenes within that file?
    I also heard something about Flash "Shared Objects" and how this could be a way of controlling a swf file remotely.....
    Could anyone give me some advice and know a method that I could use to achieve this type of implementation?
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated!   Thanks!

    FMS (the interactive version, FMIS) has complete scripting support.
    What you want to do can be done with FMS, and there are a lot of ways you can approach it. Converting to .swf can be helpful, as it means you have a single resource to load rather than a bunch of individual slide images (the flashplayer can load .swf, jpg, gif, png). Rather than embedding, I'd opt to make it an external resource and load it at runtime... that would keep the player application reusable.
    To get an idea of how to use server side actionscript, see the getting started portion of the FMS 3.5 dev docs
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_Deving/
    Then, see the SSAS docs for the following classes in particular:
    The Client class for Client.call()
    The Stream class for Stream.send()
    The Shared object class
    The Application class for BroadcastMsg()
    The docs give some general overview for the usage of each. The best choice really depends on your deployment architecture and scalability requirements.

  • Text Caption Boxes on imported PowerPoint slides

    I have imported a number of PowerPoint slides (with an image)
    into a Captivate movie. Text is needed on these slides so
    originally I created the text on the PPT slides, but when imported
    into Captivate the text formatting and spacing was all messed up.
    So, I had to reimport those PPT slides with no text. After
    reimporting, I used Text Caption Boxes to enter the text onto those
    PPT slides. When published, those text boxes display small white
    boxes (white is the text color) everywhere I used the space bar in
    the text boxes (after a bullet, etc.) The white boxes do not show
    when previewing or editing in Captivate.
    Is there a way to get rid of those boxes or does anyone know
    of any other solution?
    Thanks in advance!

    You're welcome. And speaking of "thanks", I have copied the
    "fix" for the Transparent Caption Style bug from the guy who has
    been a great friend and the best source of real intelligence in the
    Captivate "expert" community, Paul Dewhurst. Paul deserves the real
    "Thanks" for discovering the cure for this irritation ... his
    solution is as follows - and I quote:
    quote:
    One of the Problems Captivate used to have was that if you used
    transparent captions then the text in the published movie would
    look blurred, In captivate 2 you can fix this problem and have nice
    crisp text all you need to do is select
    #C0C0C0 as the highlight colour and highlight part of the
    text (you can select just one character) this makes the text in the
    published movie display nice and crisp and the highlight is
    transparent.
    I hope this helps - and by the way, you can find other
    great tips from Paul on his website at

    Have a great day!

  • I am new to iTunes. How do I transfer files of Powerpoint slides into iTunes from PC and then into my iPad for use at a meeting

    I am new to iTunes and the iOS in general, having just migrated from Android devices. Please advise as to how I can easily transfer files of Powerpoint slides in documents on my PC into iTunes, so that I can use Adobe or other app to get them into my iPAD to be able to use them at a conference. Thank you.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    I have had an iTunes account for a while, but never really taken the time to learn to use it.  Now I have two computers, with two different versions of iTunes, with content on one that I want to transfer to the other.  Or I'd like to directly access the older libarary from the new computer.
    There are a number of ways you might achieve this. The following article(s) may help you.
    Moving your iTunes library to a new computer
    Alternatively you might just use home sharing to share the libraries.
    Plus I have some videos and audio CD's that I have never imported, and would like to bring them into iTunes and store on an external hard drive to keep from loading up my computer.  I have no idea how to accomplish all of this, and cannot find clear instructions on the website.  Is there a screen where I can access written step-by-step instructions?  I don't have the time or patience to play around and do it by trail and error.  Thanks.
    If you place a CD into the CD drive, iTunes will ask you if you want to import it.
    If you want iTunes to store content on an external drive, you need to tell it to do so, which you do at iTunes preferences > Advanced.

  • ER - Problem with ADF Faces filter when running ADF Faces within a portlet

    I am attempting to get ADF Faces to run within Oracle Portal, i.e. within a portlet using the JPDK.
    This, I am sure you are about to tell me, is not something that is fully supported, as yet.
    However, I have been successful in getting MyFaces to run within a portlet, by customizing the form tag.
    MyFaces, it seems, keeps track of the current viewid by storing it in the session, then uses this within the viewhandler and navigationhandler to determine the next view to load, based on the faces-config.xml navigation entries.
    By customizing the form tag it is then possible to retrieve this viewid from the faces context and outputting it in the form's action parameter.
    It is also possible, with a few more customizations, to run JSF RI within a portlet, i.e. by adding a custom viewhandler and loading a session variable with the current viewid from the faces context, then retrieving the viewid and outputting it as the action string in the customized form tag .
    Unfortunately there does not appear to be any way of getting ADF Faces (EA19 version) to run as a portlet, with either the RI or with MyFaces.
    I have configured a basic .jspx document in the <showPage> tags of the provider.xml file.
    This uses only the form tag and a few input tags and works when executed directly within my portlet project in JDeveloper (http://localhost:8988/TestJSFAppContext/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx) using a redirectfilter (*.jspx htdocs -> /faces/htdocs).
    It is not possible to run ADF Faces with RI as a portlet since customization of the ADF Faces ViewHandler appears not to be supported.
    When attempting to run this with MyFaces as a portlet, however, I get the following message:
    oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilterImpl verifyFilterIsInstalled
    WARNING: The AdfFacesFilter has not been installed. ADF Faces requires this filter for proper execution.
    I am having difficulty in understanding as to why this is happening but am guessing it must be something to do with either redirect URLs or due to the .jspx files being under /htdocs, i.e. the ADF Faces renderkit is checking that the ADF Faces filter is configured but the check fails since the filter does not execute.
    I have configured the filter in web.xml, as detailed in the documentation:
      <filter>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <filter-class>oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter</filter-class>
      </filter>
      <filter-mapping>
        <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      </filter-mapping>
    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet</servlet-class>
      </servlet>
      <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>ADF Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
      </servlet-mapping>and have modified the provider.xml file as follows:-
          <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
             <renderContainer>true</renderContainer>
             <renderCustomize>true</renderCustomize>
             <autoRedirect>true</autoRedirect>
             <contentType>text/html</contentType>
      <showPage>/faces/htdocs/facesportlet/index.jspx</showPage>
             <editPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditPage.jsp</editPage>
             <editDefaultsPage>/htdocs/facesportlet/FacesportletEditDefaultsPage.jsp</editDefaultsPage>
          </renderer>with the following tags also set:
       <session>true</session>
       <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams>In order to ensure that the session stays alive so that the views are retrieved.
    As I say, the page loads OK when run directly within the JPDK project within JDeveloper, with a redirect filter (*.jspx -> /faces/*.jspx) but not when run from within Oracle Portal.
    In fact I have found that this filter is very sensitive, i.e. ADF Faces will not run in any project unless the configuration is exactly as above.
    It seems that the MyFaces team have got around the problem of maintaining session state with redirections but that ADF Faces needs the page URL that is passed in to the filter to be consistent.
    Is there some way around this, i.e. some kind of customization that I can implement to get the filter working?
    Thnks

    I have found a way to go round the problem.
    I use the servlet 2.4/jsp 2.0 route and then
    change the web.xml header to the servlet 2.3/jsp 1.2
    format. Everything then works fine after this!
    Please fix this for production.

  • Why do circles rotated 45 degrees in PowerPoint slides not appearing in PDF -- a bug?

    I am using Acrobat XI Professional and PowerPoint 2013 in Windows 8.
    I have two PowerPoint slides. One slide is a filled-in circle. The other slide has another filled-in cirlce that is rotated 45 degrees. When I convert the PowerPoint presentation with the two slides to PDF using Acrobat > Create PDF, the circle that is rotated 45 degrees does not appear in the PDF document. It very well may be because when you do a Save As > PDF it works. I would submit this behavior to the Feature Request/Bug Report Form.

  • Captivate 7 Publishing Powerpoint slides and crashing

    I have recently updated Captivate 7 on my mac using the patch to make it work with Mavericks. All appears fine, however I have a project that has some powerpoint slides in it. When Captivate previews the content it locks up and freezes on any of these slides. Then if I publish the file out and load to our LMS it simply exits when it reaches the same point.
    I must admit that I did not have Captivate 7 when I first created this file so its new to 7. I also built it on a Windows build. Is this something to do with the way the Windows version of Captivate 6 handles PowerPoint that the Mac cannot handle?
    If anyone can offer any advice as I have a really complex build on one of these and I would hate to have to start the powerpoint elements again.

    To my knowlede this cannot be done.  Master Slides are used to provide mostly static elements that are reused across other slides (like backgrounds or foregrounds).
