Powerpoint video export progress using ResampleMediaTask

Hi,
I am using Python 2.7.6 along with the win32com.client module in order to automate a couple of actions in Microsoft Powerpoint 2013.
This is my code so far:
import win32com.client
powerpoint = win32com.client.Dispatch("Powerpoint.Application")
presentation = PPobject.Presentations.Open(FileName='myFile.pptx', WithWindow=False)
try:
# May need a few other parameters as well
presentation.CreateVideo('out.wmv')
except:
raise SystemExit
The only info I have managed to retrieve so far is by polling the CreateVideoStatus attribute which only tells me if the conversion has ended or not.
while presentation.CreateVideoStatus == 1:
time.sleep(1)
How should I retrieve the "live" progress of exporting-to-video in Powerpoint?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'd ask in a python forum, we handle Microsoft scripting technologies here. Here's one possible place to try (I'm not personally sure if it's any good, I just asked my search engine):
http://www.python-forum.org/
Good luck.
EDIT: Slow on the punch today. You can also follow jrv's suggestion and ask PowerPoint development questions here (since I can't find a PP-specific forum):

  • Can't Render Video Hangs on the Initializing Video Export Progress bar

When rendering a video I never get past the Initializing Video Export Progress bar.
Running windows 8 64bit, Photoshop CC.
I have Windows CS4, Lightroom 4, LIghtroom 5 and Premier Elements installed. I have no problem exporting video from lightroom or Premier Elements

I am trying to process a move clip of various types. I don’t even get to the dialogue that presents the parameter entry. I’ve tried .mp4,mts,3gp,f4v & m2t. I don't even have any changes applied to the clip.

  • Flash video export to use in premiere, issues

I am working on a project who's intended finished location will be youtube- 4:3 aspect, 320x240. It involves taking an animation produced in flash, editing it in premiere, then saving as a final file
since my aspect ratio is 4:3, I made my .fla file 500x375 pixels. 30 fps. I then exported the video in quicktime in 'Animation' mode, 30 fps. I can only assume that this exports as a square pixel ratio?
I created a new project in premiere. Desktop Mode, 30fps, 500x375, square pixels. However, when I import the flash video (.mov exported from flash, not .flv) it over-extends the edges of my premiere stage. I also tried making a premiere project in .9 NTSC pixel ratio, same other settings, but the problem was even more pronounced.
Any help on the correct settings to use? for either side?

good call, turns out it's not exporting at 500x375 like I tell it to. Instead, it exports to 640x480. The .fla document size is 500x375... yet when I go to quicktime export settings, it says 550x400. And when it finishes export, it's 640x480. huh??
well, I guess I can make my premiere project 640x480, not going to matter much when the final product is 320x240. I just can't figure out why it insists on exporting to 640x480

  • Dynamic Link Media Server Error on Video Export CS6

    Hello,
Whenever I atempt to render video or export a photoshop file as a video I get the following error:
    dynamiclinkmediaserver has encountered an error
    [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/DynamicLinkMediaServer1/main/shared/adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundat ion/Make/Mac/../../Src/DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
    Continue Button.
Hitting continue does nothing and the application just hangs on the video export progress bar.
I've attempted to export several types of PSD files to video, some old, some new (made in CS6) and I always get this error. I have reset Photoshops preferences. I have uninstalled the entire CS6 suite and reinstalled it.
On a whim I decided to reinstall PS CS5 and try to export from there. Worked like a charm. Was able to export video from my PSDs like before.
    I am currently running:
    Creative Suite CS6 Master Collection
    My hardware is:
    Model Name:          iMac
    Processor Name:          Intel Core i5
    Processor Speed:          2.8 GHz
    Memory:          8 GB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3
    Suggestions?

    Hi,
Are you still having problems with CS6 Video Export?
What Export settings are you using? (A screencapture might be the fastest way to answer that.)
Does it work if you use the default settings?
If you have time to experiment, I have some suggestions:
Would you please try/verify the following:
    1. Be sure virus/security/parental control software hasn't trapped parts of Photoshop, Bridge, Premiere, Lightroom, or any Adobe app using DynamicLinkMediaServer. (Make sure the Adobe apps are added as exceptions if needed.)
    2. Ensure you have the latest version of QuickTime
    3. Close all Adobe applications - wait more than 30 seconds, then launch Photoshop and try to open and export the file.
    - If unsuccessful, view Task Manager/Processes to verify necessary processes started up when importing video (dynamiclinkmanager.exe, dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe and Adobe QT32 Server.exe)
    - If unsuccessful, please capture the full error message text.
    4. Close all Adobe apps, wait 30 seconds - launch Bridge and try to open/export the file.
    Thanks,
    Meredith

  • Can the author please send me an exported version using H.264 video codec

Seems as thou I am having similar problems as other clients are having with movies. My computer guy asked me to ask you this question in the subject line. I have no idea what this means. I sent him a video, he has sound but no video, and he has tried multiple applications, but the results are the same. No video. So, I am suppose to ask the author to send you an exported version using H.264 video codec???? Please help get this resolved!

So, you need to re-export it, this time choosing H.264. What software are you using?

  • What is the best way to export a video for broadcast using FCE?  H264?

I need to get the best quality HD video for broadcast using final cut express and I need to know all info and settings please?

    Hello,
You need to find out from the broadcaster what specs they require you to meet.  H.264 is probably not it.

  • Video export not showing up

i'm a novice at editing software and after creating some title slides and to go along with .wav file sound effects i started importing mpg movie files and jpeg pictures from my hard drive that went along with an mp3 song.  when i went to export the video to check my progress only the title files and wav sound effects exported and none of the video or pictures or mp3 exported.  i exported it as a windows media file to play in WMP.   Would this have anything to do with the type of video i said i'd be using when setting up my project?  Because none of that made any sense to me and i just picked the dv ntsc standard 48hz aspect.  I have a cannon FS100 that records in MOD files (mpeg2).  I downloaded them through the program that was provided with my camera to the hard drive and then into adobe.  Would this cause my video to not show up in exported projects if i chose the incorrect presets?  I don't want to keep editing this video if at the end i'll have to redo the entire thing due to incorrect presets so i thought i'd try the forums.  Thanks for any help you can give.

hadn't found anything to explain my problem.
That's not quite the best approach.  Don't look to finding this one answer, look to becoming a well educated professional in all aspects of video production before using this software.  This is not a quick fix, it is a proper months or even years long method (depending on the degree you wish to attain).
As I said, for those without such dedication, there are consumer programs out there.
And of course, there is always the option of hiring a professional to do the job.  We depend on folks like yourself to earn a living.  Nothing wrong with supporting us.

  • Can you convert Interlaced video to Progressive?

Does anyone know if there is a way to simply convert interlaced video to progressive video? I don't have Apple Compressor, and don't know of any other way to convert interlaced to progressive. Any ideas?

I am clearly not the best person to answer this question...but.
Depending on why you want to change interlaced to progressive, there are several ways to approach this.
There is 3rd party software like the previous offered, and a few others, but if you are simply going to upload to the web or show it on other computers I would just export the movie in a progressive format, using export> Quicktime Conversion. Then select the settings you would like to use.
    Hope this helps.

  • Export Progress window seems to be stuck on Initializing...

I am trying to encode to h264 video with Type 2 DV .avi rendered in VT4.5 with Quicktime 7 pro.
I chose the movie to ipod setting in the export menu and hit ok 21 hours ago...
The Export progress bar is still at the Initializing... stage with no apparent progress.
The project is 19.5 GB when rendered to Type 2 DV.avi.
Is this normal? Does anyone know how long QuickTime 7 pro usually takes to encode? I am hesitant to cancel the process since I have so much time invested.
    Thank you for your help.
    Terry Christensen

Why not try a ten minute "cut" from your file and time that process. You'll get a good idea of how long your file will take to convert.
The QuickTime export dialogs seem to not properly update when a huge file is processing.
The "Movie to iPod" is the most complex export you'll probably make and changes found in the latest release now use a 640X480 display size which will drastically increase the time of encoding.
Since I don't own an iPod I've never used those export settings. And each computer will take longer or shorter time based on its hardware and processor.

  • Export Progress stuck on "initializing"!!!!!!

I just got my video iPod and downloaded Quicktime Pro so I could "easily" export my videos into iPod format.
Well I have waited all day and the export progress box still says "Initializing..."
Anyone know a fix for this or what I'm doing wrong?
Also, if anyone has a number or e-mail address for customer support let me know because I am very upset that I dropped $30 for a program that's not working.

  • OT (but relevant): QT Cluster video export

For those making soundtracks in GB for their iMovies, this sounds like an awesome plugin, it offers automatic parallel processing between any cluster of Macs (that fit the min reqs)

QuickTime Video Compression Acceleration using Clusters
As video codecs in QuickTime necessarily become more advanced to achieve higher compression ratios to accommodate viewer expectations, they also become more compute hungry, therefore making the content take longer to produce. To help meet this demand, we developed a way to accelerate the compression of QuickTime movies from common desktop video editing applications like iMovie, Final Cut Express, and Final Cut Pro using the Export Component feature of QuickTime.
    This tool is for:
video podcasters who want to accelerate their compression times, especially those that publish videos in multiple formats (H.264, MPEG-4, etc.), so they can get their content on the Internet faster online educators producing training or courseware in the form of video posted via the Internet
archivers of content sampled from older analog video media who want to preserve such assets digitally in a modern codec video content producers who want to publish themselves online for posting directly on a web page or via other video sharing web sites
The new Pooch QuickTime Exporter plug-in automatically parallelizes video compression from video-editing applications. It extracts the source video data, partitions them, then assigns other nodes their data. The compressed video data is then returned for sorting and assembly into the final movie.
New features: Support for H.264 multipass video encoding and sound compression codecs including AAC, Lossless, MACE, A-Law, µ-Law, QDesign Music, and IMA. When possible, output movies are automatically flattened with fast start for easy Internet streaming distribution. Renovated, more versatile user interface. Improved fault tolerance for cluster startup or node failure or user cancel events. More accurate progress bar behavior. Storage of multiple settings into atom containers. Fixes for echoing audio and automatic frame rate detection and when filenames already exist for multiple movies.

  • Can't export .MOV in AE cc render queue, But I can Export .MOV using Media Encoder cc

I get “[file path and name].mov”. An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464) when trying to export .mov using AE cc render queue but works fine in media Encoder cc. My problem is that i need to export animation with alpfa channel for a client and cannot find an alpha channel option in media encoder.
    Please help

To export with an alpha channel in Adobe Media Encoder, choose "32 bit" from the Depth menu under the Video tab in the export settings. (That refers to 32 bits per pixel: 8 each for R, G, B, and A.) Of course, that option is only available if the codec can include an alpha channel, such as with the Animation codec in a QuickTime container.

  • Videos export with purple/green artifacts/splotches/flashes with Media Encoder CC but export fine with Premiere Pro CC?

I use Premiere Pro CC to edit videos, and videos render fine when I export through Premiere Pro, but when I try to use Media Encoder CC, the video exports with weird splotches of green/purple artifacts all throughout. It almost looks like the video is glitching and having a seizure of green and purple. No idea why this happens. Could anybody help me? I use Media Encoder to export bulks of videos at a time through its queue feature, which is why I prefer to use Media Encoder for video exporting.
    Please and thanks.

    Mitch,
I was hoping that you and others might have some insight as to whether the purple and green artifacts / splotches seen in the attached screenshots (taken from 4 consecutive frames here but occurring through the entirety of the clip) could possibly have resulted from exporting video with ~ Premiere Pro CS5 or 6 ? As seen below, these splotches alternate back and forth between purple and green in every consecutive frame. I was also hoping that someone might know if this is a relatively common type of artifact and how it is caused.
