PowerShell to set Summary View for ListViewWebPart

Hi,
I'm adding a ListViewWebPart to my page using PowerShell and all working well. The only thing I'm having trouble with is trying to change the view of the ListViewWebPart as part of my PowerShell script. It's for a Links List.
I've tried a few approaches but can't seem to set the ListViewWebPart view to Summary View.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Grant.

Hello,
Just try this suggestion and see the result. However this solution did not work for original requester so please verify.

  • How to set default view for preview?

Every time I open a PDF using Preview I have to set the view to 'thumbnails', then 'two pages up', then adjust the zoom. Complete waste of time.
Anyone know how to set defaults so that it opens in a predictable way?
    thanks,

I customized my Toolbar to look like the following. Click the middle button that has the 1 circled. That tells Preview to remember to display pages at actual size (100%). Every file that I open now displays at 100%.

  • Report Builder Wizard and Parameter Creation with values from other data source e.g. data set or views for non-IT users or Business Analysts

    Hi,
"Report Builder is a report authoring environment for business users who prefer to work in the Microsoft Office environment.
You work with one report at a time. You can modify a published report directly from a report server. You can quickly build a report by adding items from the Report Part Gallery provided by report designers from your organization." - As mentioned
    on TechNet.
I wonder how a non-technical business analyst can use Report Builder 3 to create ad-hoc reports/analysis with list of parameters based on other data sets.
Do they need to learn TSQL or how to add and link parameter in Report Builder? then How they can add parameter into a report. Not sure what i am missing from whole idea behind Report builder then?
I have SQL Server 2012 STD and Report Builder 3.0  and want to train non-technical users to create reports as per their need without asking to IT department.
Everything seems simple and working except parameters with list of values e.g. Sales year List, Sales Month List, Gender etc. etc.
So how they can configure parameters based on Other data sets?
Workaround in my mind is to create a report with most of columns and add most frequent parameters based on other data sets and then non-technical user modify that report according to their needs but that way its still restricting users to
    a set of defined reports?
I want functionality like "Excel Power view parameters" into report builder which is driven from source data and which is only available Excel 2013 onward which most of people don't have yet.
So how to use Report Builder. Any other thoughts or workaround or guide me the purpose of Report Builder, please let me know.
    Many thanks and Kind Regards,

    Hi Asam,
If we want to create a parameter depend on another dataset, we can additional create or add the dataset, embedded or shared, that has a query that contains query variables. Then use the option that “Get values from a
query” to get available values. For more details, please see:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd283107.aspx

  • How to set View for Completed items inside Tasks?

How to set button for 'View' and see Completed items or not completed inside Tasks?

    Hi,
You want to set custom views for Tasks folder so that when we click a view button, it will show all Completed or incomplete tasks, am I correct?
Which version of Outlook are you using? There are existing views for completed/incomplete tasks in Outlook. In Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, we can find the buttons under View tab > Change View. Click Completed button to view all completed
tasks; Click Active button to view incomplete tasks.
In Outlook 2007, just click View > Current View to switch between different views.
If I've misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know.

  • [Solved] How to set vim -R as a viewer for mc?

    Hello!
I am trying to set vim in read only mode as a viewer for Midnight Commander.
    I tried:
    alias mc='VIEWER="vim -R" mc'
    or
    alias vimr='vim -R'
    alias mc='VIEWER=vimr mc'
    and more but without success.
So far the only successful approach was to:
    - create shell script, e.g. vimr.sh containing "vim -R"
    - create an alias using the script, i.e. alias mc='VIEWER=vimr.sh mc'
It works, but creating additional file doesn't seem to be optimal solution.
Is there a way to solve it using one-liner, or at least put all the config into .bashrc?

Thank you for your quick replies.
    @alphaniner:
    alias mc='VIEWER=vim\ -R mc'
does not work as intended - it launches vim but I am still able to modify viewed file, like -R had no effect
    @WonderWoofy:
If you mean exporting variable like
    export VIEWER='vim -R'
it has the same effect as described above. Additionally, it sets the viewer for all applications using that variable, which I would like to avoid.
Unfortunately this is not what I am looking for.

  • How do I preserve folder views for future use?

When I open any folder it seems to use the view of the previous folder.  In windows 3.1, ME and XP I could set the view for each individual folder and it would be saved for future use.  I want the folders at the top of my stored image hierarchy
to show me the list view and the folders below them that contain actual images to show me thumbnails.  Instead I have to reset them every time I open them.  Am I doing something wrong or have the MS(H)IT people screwed up this OS, too?
I am sending this to "Sandbox forums" because I no idea where to send it.  Not one of the choices you offer make any sense to me.  I just want to make this benighted software easier to use.  If this comes to the worng place please forward
    it for me.

  • SharePoint 2013 Blog - Modify Summary View

I am using SharePoint 2013.  I need to modify the blog posts to show extra fields and exclude others.  When I initially tried to edit the "Current View" for the web part, I got an error. I switched the view to "All Posts", then
switched back to "Summary View" and the error went away. Now with I try to edit the Summary View, I just get a blank page with no fields to select.
Is there any other way to modify the "Summary View" for the blog posts web part for 2013?

You can customize the summary webpart using the SharePoint designer.

  • Avoiding non required view for material master

    Hi,
If I do not wan to tuse all the views then how can avoid them at the time of creation of material.I mean system should only show me the views relevant for me.
What is the customization setting required to be done in IMG ?/
    Thx in advance
    Regards,
    manOO

    Hi Manoo,
    1.
Material master creation activity is generally carried out by a central team.
The process flow is generally -
    1.Creation of Basic data views,
2.Creation of other views (Like purchasing, Accounting etc)
So idelly i do not see any need to restrict views as the central team is generally aware of the process flow and responsibilities.
    2. Alternatively, you can set "Default View" for any particular user ID.
From Consulting point of view, this should not lead to any development as this could be a matter of User discipline.
from OMS2 you can remove the view for a particular material type and which may not be correct.

  • SP2013 Set default views across multiple site collections (powershell)?

I am the editor for a large SharePoint 2013 publishing site with approximately 130+ subsites. Based on our most popular content types, I've create two diffferent default views that will come in handy as we move to a distributed authorship model. (I'm thinking
specifically about the Quick Edit/Excel-like feature to make quick changes to page/document metadata.)
The authors/content owner/editors have NO experience with SharePoint, so while the usual benefit of using views is that they can be tailored to individual needs, I'd like to start them off with something that is VERY easy to change on the fly using Ribbon >
Library > Quick Edit. It's either that or, as just a power user in the CMS, go to each individual page and document library and change it manually, which could take days, if not longer. The ideal solution would look for all subsite of layout/content type
foo and change the default views within the page libraries to a set of 17 metadata.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Ryan D Watters

    Hi Ryan,
As I understand, you would like to change default view for page/document libraries via powershell.
Firstly, you need to get all page/document libraries in the site, then add columns to default view.
Here are some articles for your reference:
    1.Get all document libraries:
    http://www.sharepoint-journey.com/get-all-document-libraries-in-a-site-collection.html

  • How to configure and set a default view for contents of a data set

    Here is my scenario:
I have a document library where each item is a "Plan".  "Plan" is of a custom content type that inherits from a Document Set content type but has some additional attributes such as Plan Type.  Inside each Plan, each item is
a Plan Document which is of custom content type Plan Document which inherits from Document content type but has some additional attributes e.g. Document Status.
    So the hierarchy is:
    All Plans (document library)
Plan 1  (custom content type that inherits from Document Set but also has a "Plan Type" attribute)
Plan Document   (custom content type that inherits from Document but also has a "Document Status" attribute
When I click on the document library, I want to see all the folders (e.g. Plan 1) where one of the columns will be "Plan Type"
When I click on an individual Plan (e.g. Plan 1) I want to see the contents of that custom document set.  At this point, since this page shows contents of one document set, I want to see the column "Document Status" but NOT Plan Type since
Plan Type applies to the document set as a whole, not to an individual item in that document set.
However, I don't think I have it set up correctly because right now the "Plan Type" column is visible both on the list of all document sets AND on the page that shows the contents of one document set.
I've found a discussion on this topic here:
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/61565/how-can-i-set-a-custom-default-view-for-a-document-set
where one person said "When you click on a Document Set content type in library settings, one of the options is "Document Set settings". The last option in this dialogue allows you to select a defined view on the library that will be used
to show the contents of that Document Set."  I don't see that view selection.  The last item on the document set settings page is "Update List and Site Content Types".  The field before that is for customizing the Welcome page.
However, I don't want to customize the Welcome Page as a whole, I just want to customize the columns that are displayed on the list of content of this document set.
    thanks

    I finally found the answer:
At the document library level, create a new view to use when displaying the files in the document set
Go to the document library settings
Select your custom content type (in my case it was "Plan")
In the next screen select Document Set settings
Select your newly created view at the Welcome Page View section
    Press Ok
Now the default All Documents view will be shown when displaying all the document sets and the newly created view will be displayed when viewing one document set with the files within.

  • "I would like to know how to set the default view for the columns. Somewhere I read it could be done in by music icon under Library.  Can't find it.  Thanks

"I would like to know how to set the default view for the columns that are shown in iTunes. Every time I open it, I have to either go to the options, or right-click to get the pop-up options, and delete "rating" and add "composer." I'd really like to just do it once and be done with it."  Somewhere I read you could do this by clicking on the Music icon under LIBRARY then arramge the columns.  Trouble is, I can't find a Musi Folder or icon in my user library.
Any help would be appreiated.  OSX 10.9.2  iTunes version 11.1.5  Thanks!!! CW!

From the iTunes menu bar try View>Show View Options.  Make sure what you want to see is checked and what you don't is unchecked.  You can do this (may need to do this) for any playlists, your main Library, etc.
    Good luck

  • Is there a way to set the default view for the App Store to only show Apps for iPads when the Store is launched?

I'm a new iPad owner and would like to set the default view for myself to show only Apps for the iPad when I launch the the App Store app. Showing apps for iPhone seems a waste of real estate for me and time spent searching for a particular app since I do not own an iPhone.

  • Setting Up Rectangular, for example 16:9 with different subdivisions, Grid (View Show Grid)

The Grid tool (View > Show Grid) is a huge help when designing. Unfortunately, by default AI allows us to specify only square grids, i.e. you set one parameter for gridline spacing (and one for its subdivisions) and AI creates square grid applying your value for both: horizontal and vertical directions. But what if we need something more, for example 16:9 proportion grid (subdivided into 4 parts in horizontal direction and 3 in vertical)? Hmm…. actually… we can do this! We can even set different colors for the main and subdivision lines:

Found something on this! The rectangular grid with different vertical and horizontal subdivision values can be set!!! We can even set different colors for the main and subdivision lines. I've tested this under Mac (CS6 and CC) and Windows x86 and x64 (CS6, CC). I've posted a short articale on this:

  • 10.6.6 - How to set custom view options for specific folders

How is it that Windows has had the ability to ability to set custom folder view options forever and OSX can't. What is the big deal? Just do it. Whenever I set the folder view options it changes the view for all the folders. I can do folder specific changes as long as the finder window is open then I close it and open it again every folder is the same again. It's just an annoyance and it's something so rudimentary it's embarrassing.

    Try the following:
I want to have, say, one folder in list view
Open that folder, set it to list view, type command-J, and in the view-options window that opens, check the box at the top for "Always open in list view".
then the subfolder of that folder I want to have in cover flow view. permanently.
Open that folder, change it to cover-flow view, and in the view-options window check the box at the top for "Always open in cover-flow."
Those two folders should "remember" the custom views that were set for them.
There's additional discussion about the meaning of the"Use as defaults" button in this thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=13063792
My own take is that folders that have not been customized by checking the "Always open in xxx view" box will by default open in the same view (icon vs list vs column, etc) that was in effect for the previously opened folder. *Within each view*, you can set the default parameters (text size, etc) for a new folder by setting up a folder the way you like and then checking the view options box for "Use as defaults" at the bottom.

  • Language Setting for - Hyperion Smart View for Office

    Hi,
Here's a scenario I need to find an answer to.
    1. We have Essbase system 9 installed on a machine named: USESSSRVR and here the ESSLANG environment variable is set to "English_UnitedStates.US-ASCII@Binary".
    2. We build two Unicode cubes, one for Korea Sales called APPKR.SALESCUB & other for Turkey Sales called APPTR.SALESCUB
    3. Korean users are sitting in Korea & Turkey users are in Turkey & both these users need to see data in their local languages.
    4. Since Essbase Excel Add-In is not compatible with Unicode cubes, we have asked them to use "Hyperion Smart View for Office".
    Now question is,
-> Where in this entire system do I need to do Language Settings so that they see their characters correctly?
-> Is there a place in Smart View where you can set languages?
-> Also we have a limitation that we need to have both the applications APPKR & APPTR on the same Essbase server which is in US.
    PLEASE HELP.
    Thanks.
    ~Jaymin Darbari.

It's actually because you are installing over an old version. Uninstall SV, review the registry entries and directories and then reinstall with admin priv.
Of course when I looked it up on support the Oracle ID 1466433.1 suggests that the .net install is corrupt so was i going mad? Not beyond reasonable doubt since I put in an SR a while back about it so I have proof that it is listed as an " "internal bug #14149839 : "SMART VIEW EXTENSION ACTIVATOR OBJECT (-2147467262) This is reported for excel 2010" has been raised with development team. As per the update from the bug this issue has been addressed in patch 11.1.2.2.310 which is yet to be released."
So if you are on an earlier version of Office possibly is because of the .net install (which I think needs v3.5, at least for Office2003), but I would try do a clean install first.
