Pre-load .flv file

Hello again,
Seperate question:
I have created an SWF file that streams an FLV file.
What I would like to do is have the SWF load the FLV all at once at the beginning (the way a flash app might pre-load the interface).  Is this possible?
This way, when the SWF starts playing, the FLV will be loaded already, and will not have to buffer during playtime.
The FLV is only 300KB, and is an element in the interface itself, so I can't have it stuttering.
Thanks in advance!

attached to the first frame where your component exists and its contentPath is defined, disable autoStart and, if flv is your component instance name, use:
flv.play();
flv.pause();
this.onEnterFrame=function()[
if(flv.bytesLoaded>=flv.bytesTotal){
delete this.onEnterFrame;
flv.play();

  • Folder location of pre-recorded flv file

    I have a pre-recorded flv file that I've placed in a
    sub-folder within the applications folder of Media Server. When I
    run my Flash movie within Flash or on my localhost using IIS, the
    Media Server Management Console shows my flv streaming. This only
    seems to work, though, if I also have the flv file in the same
    folder or sub-folder relative to my swf and html files and the
    contentPath perimeter of the on-stage video component points to
    this flv folder/sub-folder. Question: does the flv need to be in
    both these locations? The documentation is not clear about
    this.

    This makes me suspect that you're not actually connecting to
    FMS, but rather, just playing the progressive http video. If you
    leave the flv in the http directory (and remove the file from the
    fms directory) does it still play?
    If you want to connect to an FMS stream, your content path
    will be an rtmp location, not an http location. It will look
    something like this:
    rtmp://myfmsserver.com/myApplication/myVideo
    I don't use the prefab media components, so I don't know if
    it wants the .flv extension at the end of the url.

    The action is incorrect to start with, so is the entire
    arrangement.
    If you want to load SWF, you need to load it in level or
    movie clip holder
    not in FLV file. It's like trying to load something in a GIF
    or JPG file
    on flash's timeline. Just does not work like that. Level or
    holder MC only.
    Secondly, if you load FLV you don't load them in holder movie
    clip but into
    a FLVplayback components and not with loadMovie action.
    Check for FLV Playback, under the Components section in your
    help files.
    You will find action samples on how to set it up.

  • Live Stream Pre-Recorded FLV File

    Hi I'm using FME 2.5 to stream a web cam feed (to Akamai).
    Has anyone ever used this set-up (or something similar) to deliver
    a pre-recorded video file? Basically, I'd like to use a file as the
    video input device.

    Normally, only a device which appears as a video camera
    driver will be supported for live streaming. That includes USB web
    cams and firewire cameras.
    However when using programs like MSN or Yahoo chat, many
    users have successfully used "virtual camera driver" software,
    which supplies images from a file source, but appears to the system
    to be a physical (camera) device.
    So for example, without making a specific recommendation,
    "Broadcaster StudioPRO" appears to be one such virtual camera
    driver :
    http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/webpublish/fwwebcam.html
    Probably the best approach is to hunt on (insert favourite
    search engine) for the search term above, in conjunction with "MSN
    messenger" or "Yahoo messenger" to restrict the search
    results.

  • Pre-Loading Configuration File

    Hi Guys,
    I've went thru the thread and noticed some had already asked
    the following question, yet I didn't see any satisfying answer.
    I'm using mxml components. Some use an external configuration
    when being initialize (it's external so I can change parameters and
    not recompile every time).
    Hence - that xml file must be loaded prior to any component.
    Is there a proper way in flex which i can determine the
    order? Or is there a way in which I can specify to the application
    to load a configuration file prior to any other action?
    Solutions I've seen here:
    * write it all from scratch using AS3 - sorry, thanks... Not
    an option :)
    * put your application under another component (like canvas)
    and load the config file in the main app and only then the canvas:
    Guys - could you find uglier solution? :)
    * use the initialize event : not working.. Since it's
    threaded - by the time the config file loads... All of the
    components have been loaded too.
    So, I'd be so happy if someone here would start his answer
    with: "So easy man... So simple... just do this... and that... :)".
    Crossing fingures :)
    my Email

    In addition to the initialize event, there is a preinitialize
    event. Because server
    calls are asyncronous you will need a custom preloader so you
    have control as to when you let the app continue. Check out the
    following article (from cflex.net)
    on using a custom preloader.
    http://br.sys-con.com/read/255823.htm
    We use this method so we can load a catalog of labels and
    messages before the main application components are
    displayed.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Quality Issues  for 4:3 FLV Files

    I am working in a 480x360 window for a FLV file. Whether I export a 60 minute presentation or a 10 second pre-roll FLV file, the rendered file quality is distorted and poor. I have done the same work in CS3, but as I changed computers, the CS4 was installed.
    With the video presentation, orginally capturing the video is set as .9 Pixel Aspect Ration, but interpreting the footage to 1.0 is also an issue.
    The quality of video that is being produced is much worse then CS3 and unuseable in most cases.
    Frame Dimensions: 480x360
    Frame Rate: Same as source. (29.97)
    Endoding: CBR
    Passes: 2
    Bitrate: 500
    Audio: Mono / 48

    A couple things:
    1) VP6 and H.264 are codecs that operate in "mod16". What that means is that they begin by dividing a video image into 16x16 blocks, followed by 8x8, 8x4, and 4x4 blocks. This makes for a more efficient encode. Your 240 dimension is fine (240 / 16 = 15), but the 515 dimension could be slightly problematic (515 / 16 = 32.1875). The codec will stretch or compress the image to fit into that dimension, and so can result in a lower quality encode. If you can, try encoding at 512x240, by cropping a couple pixels in the horizontal dimension. May not make a big difference, but it's good practice with these codecs.
    2) To me, your original encode looks like the product of Adobe's less-that-capable deinterlacing scheme. You're dealing with progressive assets and a progressive target. I'd submit that the reason your 1280x720 encode looks better is that you're using a progressive preset, with no deinterlacing necessary when exporting. One thing you could check is the field order of your original sequence setup--if it's interlaced, I'd say you have your answer. If it's progressive--well, then I'm wrong :) However, you didn't explicitly say this in your original post, but it's worth a look.
    If it is interlaced, I don't think you can change that after the sequence is started, so just create a new sequence with the proper progressive settings, and copy and paste the original sequence contents into that one. Now, when you export, there will be no need for deinterlacing.
    Anyway, that's my guess...

  • Externally loaded FLV

    In my SWF fie, I have an externally loaded FLV file.
    I now want to add another FLV that will load and play
    automatically when the first one is finished.
    I actually want the SWF to jump to a new scene when the first
    movie is done.
    How can I do that/ what the actionscript?
    Steven

    Hey Steven,
    I am not very sure but just giving a shot answering it...
    You can use FLVPlayback.complete event to detect the
    comepletion of first flv and set the path of other flv on complete.
    Something like this:
    import mx.video.*;
    my_FLVPlybk.contentPath = "
    http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/clouds.flv";
    var listenerObject:Object = new Object();
    // listen for complete event; play new FLV
    listenerObject.complete = function(eventObject:Object):Void {
    if (my_FLVPlybk.contentPath == "
    http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/clouds.flv")
    my_FLVPlybk.play("
    http://www.helpexamples.com/flash/video/water.flv");
    my_FLVPlybk.addEventListener("complete", listenerObject);
    Hope that works...

    I recently installed Tone Room and now my ring tones are all silent. I uninstalled Tone Room (I had never even tried one of their tones) but I still all I get now is vibrate even though I've set my notification profile to Loud. I went into the pre loaded ringtones file and even though they are all there they don't have any sound. They are all listed at 0:00 duration.
    Can anybody suggest how I can retrieve the original ringtones.? If I do a restore from a previous back-up what file should I restore?

  • Removal of Pre-Loaded Songs on 5310 Xpress Music

    All,
    Could anyone help me in removing the pre-loaded music files that come with the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music phone (and no doubt countless other handsets too).
    I don't particuly like them and I can't seem to exclude them from playing when the music player just going through my tunes (that is when it's actually playing and not giving me the white screen of death).
    Apologies if this has been posted else where, I did try and find another thread using the search function to no avail.
    PatriBoo

    I found that I could delete the music that came with phone, if I deleted it in the album folder instead of the actual song, so just scroll through your album titles until you come to one you don't recognise, and you will be able to delete it easily on your phone.

  • Pre-load servlets from a war-file

    Hello,
              is there a way to pre-load a servlet (or execute any other code)
              at server startup, when the application is deployed as a .war-file?
              I know how to use the weblogic.servlet.utils.ServletStartup and
              the weblogic.system.startupClass... property, but these two
              seem to require that the servlet (or application class, respectively)
              are found in the servlet classpath (or the weblogic.class.path,
              respectively), so these mechanisms cannot peek into war-files to find
              the class, am I right?
              The page http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/webappguide.html#dtprops
              says:
              <load-on-startup>load_order</load-on-startup>
              (Optional) This property is not honored by WebLogic Server in this release.
              Is this still valid?
              Is there a workaround?
              When will this element be supported?
              Concerning a possible workaround, I have read:

    Yes you can load a java applet form a jar file.
    Here is the code for internet explorer.
    <body>
         <table align="center" border="1">
              <tr>
                   <td>
                        <object classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" width="10" height="10" codebase="/plugin/">

                        <param name="archive" value="XXX.jar">
                        </object>
                   </td>
              </tr>
         </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    Just replace the XXX.class with the class containing the init() method and XXX.jar with the jar file.

  • Trying to load pre-2006 lso files into Logic 8 on my new intel Mac Pro

    I'm trying to load pre-2006 lso files into Logic 8 on my new intel Mac Pro, but they crash the app every time. files saved 2006 and later load OK. Anybody shed any light on this or know of a fix (other than the laborious work-around of re-saving all early lso's in logic 8 on the PPC and physically moving them via a portable drive to the new machine)?
    (BTW, those files also crash the Logic 7 installed on the intel Mac.)

    Upon further work with my migration, I find I was incorrect in the time frame assertion of these failed files: apparently, the creation/modification dates have nothing to do with it and the reality is that some files fail at random, while others load just fine. right now it looks to be about 50/50 Beats me why this is.
    Anyway, for those interested, I've discovered a very helpful key to the quick processing of file data for a plethora of files (i. e. re-saving the "bad" lso files as Logic 8 projects on the older CPU and moving them over to my new machine), and that is the 'control key/launch' of the app. I hadn't realized that Apple had added this feature to Logic to enable easier work on multiple song files when one does not require the audio.
    For those who don't know about it, the 'control key/launch' provides an option to disable the core audio at app start-up, thus allowing files to load instantly without loading the plug-in library files associated with tracks - great for copying MIDI data between song files, or in this case, re-saving a batch.
    Still puzzled, though, as to why so many older lso files crash Logic when they attempt to load on my new CPU.
