Pre-order Phone/tablet gift card

I pre-ordered the Xoom, which required a $50 deposit and was ahnded a $50 gift card in return. I am now seriously re0thinking this because the WiFi only version will be coming out within a month and I really don't need 3G. 1)Can the gift card be used for other Best Buy purchases. 2) Do I need to do anything to cancel my pre-order. 3) If the card cannot be used for other items, can I get a refund?
Thanks

Also, pre-ordered the Thunderbolt and just found out Best Buy does not honor early upgrades. When I checked my Verizon account to see if I was eligible for an upgrade, it indicated I was. sO NOW i HAVE 2 $50 pre-order gift cards I want to return.

  • Why is a pre-order phone no longer allowed to be shipped to my work address??

On Friday, April 4, I went into my local Verizon Store (Orlando MetroWest) to pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy S5.  The order was placed and I was given a copy of the receipt which looked very accurate.  The sales rep had read back to me the Bill To and Ship To address in the store, and it was correct, but didn't show up on the receipt given.  When the confirmation e-mail came to me, I noticed that the Ship To info had my company name, and an address, but my name appeared nowhere on it.  I called to question this when the store opened on April 7, and all of the answers were "I don't know.  I'll have to research and get back to you."  When there were no calls returned I checked again and received the same response.  When I left my office for the day, I still had zero answers.
I drove to the same local store and re-hashed what I'd tried to accomplish during the morning.  I was told there was no way to amend the shipping label once the order was input, despite the fact NO orders for this phone have yet to be fulfilled, since they are still in the warehouse.  I work in a nine story building with every single office working for the same global company.  There is no chance whatsoever that the FedEx delivery would ever make it to me without my name being on the label.  I don't even think FedEx would try.  It was just foolishness at the time the order was originally input (by the Verizon Store).
During the morning there was mention of possibly cancelling the entire order and starting from scratch, which I was totally OK with, as even that delay would be quicker than someone signing for the box and it sitting God Knows Where for days/weeks.  When I said we should re-visit that option, I was now informed that it is a "Verizon Policy" to avoid fraud and NO pre-order phone could be delivered to any address except the account address of the phone owner.  That was surprising to hear since it had been done (albeit incorrectly) just a couple of days earlier.  The answer to that was, "Oh, she made a mistake in trying a work-around".  Since I was recording our complete interaction (love that feature on my current phone), I asked manager Mike to verify a third time that he could not send a phone to my office address where I am during FedEx hours, and I could not adjust the existing order to come to the store for pickup.  The answers were No and No.
My last two Verizon phones were shipped to my office, but I do understand that some company policies do change.  I just think this is a doofus change.  I also think it was pretty foolish for the original sales rep to miss putting a person's name on the shipping label.  I have trouble believing that the computer order system would even allow her to make that mistake.  But Verizon is in phone sales exclusively and not in the corporate shipping business.  Perhaps this is some needed training.

    Epilogue:
My problem has been solved, and I'm now happy to have my pre-order of the new Samsung Galaxy device completed in a way that totally satisfies me.  But I am kicking myself for not going this route in the first place.  I won't make that mistake again in the future FOR SURE.
After the manager in the local Verizon Store (Orlando MetroWest) said there was nothing he/they could do to overcome the error made earlier by their store sales representative, because it was a pre-order and nothing can be changed/corrected for the initial input.  They had failed to put my name on the shipping label requested for FedEx delivery, meaning that the box containing my phone would probably NEVER reach my hands once if was delivered to a nine-story office building with many many employees.
I simply went to my local BestBuy store and mentioned I had a very few questions to be answered prior to attempting to place a pre-order of my new Samsung phone.  I asked if the phone could be set for delivery to my office and the answer was a quick YES.  I asked if the phone could be set for pickup at the BB store and, again, the answer was a quick YES.  They were initially surprised to hear that any company would say otherwise. BestBuy requires a photo ID when they take a phone order, and a signature is required when FedEx makes its delivery, so they assured me the Verizon "Fraud Policy" quoted to me was not a standard retail answer AT ALL.  Thirteen minutes after I walked to the mobile phone department, I was walking out with all my confirmation details for a new phone.  The purchase was less out-of-pocket since BB doesn't do that VZW arrangement of paying $50 extra and then getting that back as a mail-in rebate later.  Seems no other carrier except VZW is charging that extra fee for this new device.  On top of that savings, BB gives you a $10 gift card just for doing the pre-order with them.  Bonus!!
I may (or may not) receive my phone a few days later than those ordering at the Verizon Store, but in my situation I was assured to get mine late due to the shipping label error.  No matter what, I'm going to be pleased with my purchase, and BestBuy just earned additional respect with the way they accurately handled my Verizon purchase.  VZW it still a quality mobile phone provider, but (in my personal opinion) they are extremely weak in the guest service side of the business . . . which almost negates those other positive things.

  • Verizon  rep lied to us.  We were told that we could get a $30 gift card( each) for our two old phones.  THe gift cards could be used  for paymen in our  V/zon bill.  WHen we went to the Vzon store to turn over our old phones, we found

We were lied to by Verizon- , I believe was the rep at corporate.
. They told us we could turn in our old phones and get two $30 gift cards to be used as $60 credit on any Vzon bill.
When we went to the store to turn in the old phones, the manager, Gilbert, stated all he could do is talk to his super and request a $30 gift card. Initially they offered us $1 for each phone( basic recycling reimbursement).
I was promised $60 in gift cards for  credit against the $60 in upgrade fees charged to  us.
Disappointed again.  COnnectivity is great but their customer service reps lie and, overall, their customer service sucks!

  • Pre-order Phone - No confirmation / No recent orders

I pre-ordered my iPhone 6 at 2:15 CST this morning and still have not received a confirmation email. When I try to pull up my recent orders online on my account it shows that there are no recent orders,…

Hopefully you did what kgoose23 said and wrote down the confirmation number. Because my orders are empty but I can search the confirmation preorder number. I did as well see the message that it may take up to 24 hours but I ordered mine well after you and got on quickly. I would check your spam/junk box as well.

  • Support gave me an early upgrade and ordered phone for me. Card was not charged, no conformation e-mail...Nothing?

My Samsung Galaxy S3 has been broken for about two months now. The lock button is broken so my phone shuts off and won't turn on for hours, it just vibrates. My phone sometimes has absolute zero service, while my boyfriend had full bars. So, I called support and they gave me an early upgrade, I told them I wanted to get the HTC One M8 and in what color, they told me how much it would be and said it would be confirmed Sunday and would be shipped Monday. Well, it is now Monday night and my card has not been charged, I have no e-mail from them, and online it says I have ordered a new device for my current phone so I don't have an upgrade, but I go to my receipts or documents and there is nothing?
I need my phone and I've tried calling support, but my phone is broken....

        Hi Adrela!
I'm sorry to learn about your device! I'm glad you are getting a new device so you can enjoy our service again! Were you given an order number? You can check http://vz.to/1ppeDLI to check the progress of the order?

  • Pre-Ordered and didnt recieve

I feel as if best buy should do something more to us customers who didnt recieve our pre-ordered phones. Free case, charger, gift card...something for disappointing us customers!

They really need to stop calling it a "pre-order". They should be RESERVATIONS. And I'm tired of people b!tching back "you shouldn't expect it, supply and demand, read the terms & conditions.. blah blah blah". Like the OP said, THAT'S NOT WHAT HE WAS TOLD. And it's not what I told. We were told we would get them. I knew better than to expect that, because... well we are talking Best Buy and Best Buy dealing with Apple. I knew better. But fighting back about technicalities is pointless.
The big question is.. WHAT IS BEST BUY DOING TO SATISFY ***THEIR*** CUSTOMERS??? We all bought from Best Buy, NOT Apple. Best Buy has a BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP with Apple. WHAT IS BEST BUY DOING TO REMEDY THIS? Best Buy can make excuses all day long about Apple's supply but it doesn't matter. The blame falls on Best Buy because we are dealing with Best Buy. BEST BUY IS DEALING WITH APPLE. Therefore, it IS Best Buy's fault. They can't let Apple walk all over them.. and then take the heat from the customers, which is exactly what has happened.. AGAIN. When will Best Buy learn? It's bad business to LET this happen. Not only do they let it happen.. but it's happened before and they still take pre-orders of phones they have no idea if they will get because THEY LET APPLE DICTATE WHAT THEY WANT. If Best Buy does not know, then Best Buy should not be taking pre-orders. It''s pretty simple. I'm sorry, but this is Best Buy's fault (from Best Buy's customers perspective). They need to own up and take care of business.

  • ICloud - Gift Card

I was trying to log onto iCloud this afternoon and wound up at a different web site that claimed ..."Every week we randomly select visitor to be the lucky person from  .  In order to claim your gift card, fill in the form below."
Now, typing that copy I realize it sounds like it came straight out of Nigeria where my unknown uncle died leaving me a fortune, and I feel like an idiot, but I immediately entered by name, phone number and email address.... And clicked on the button that said "Activate My Gift Card".  At that point it switched me to a second page and prompted me to enter my phone number and confirm it....but offered no "blank box" into which I could input the information.  And to make matters worse, it had a timer and kept telling me I had to do this in 120 seconds or lose the $500 gift card....  Sorry to say, I tried to enter my phone number anyway....  Until I started reading closer, noting the gramatical mistakes etc, and also the "disclaimer"   "We are not affilliated nor partnered, with apple.com  ... yada yada....
But when I look at the web site it says..."apple.com.0csh7k.info"
OK...so I'm an idiot... what will they do with my name, phone # and email address.  What can I do to protect my self.

    > what will they do with my name, phone # and email address.  What can I do to protect my self.
As long as you didn't enter any passwords you normally use, or further personal data such as postal address, date of birth, ID or social security numbers and other normally asked for security answers, what they can do is limited.
Most likely you've inadvertently signed yourself up for a never-ending, constantly increasing stream of spam emails and telephone calls. All you can do is ignore them, as these sorts of companies don't honour requests to unsubscribe, and your name, email and phone number will just be shared with a wider and wider circle of dodgy companies.
I would definitely suggest changing your iCloud password, and enabling two-step verification, just as a precaution, and just look very carefully for phishing emails that you'll undoubtedly start receiving now.

  • Still waiting for pre-ordered Droid X..

I still have not received my pre-ordered phone Droid X from BB... They are still saying "sometime this week" and guess what?  Its already Wednesday and no word.
Am wondering if I should forego getting my phone via Best Buy and go to Verizon online to order it.. But now Verizon is saying that they are delayed to and the phone will be available "by 8/3"
which would be better - waiting for BB to contact me or just going ahead and ordering from Verizon?

I am in the same boat!  They tell me to call everyday at noon to see if UPS has brought them, but so far no go.  They have no idea when they are getting anymore.  I have been pondering if I should just order one from verizon or wait it out as well.  I think i'm going to play may cards and hope best buy actually fulfills there pre-order (post delivery).  But you will have peice of mind with verizon on actually knowing when to expect your phone.  it's a gamble.
If you do order one from verizon, then best buy gets one before yours ships with verizon, can you cancel the one from verizon?  Might be an idea.

  • Will I receive my other $10 dollar gift card?

I pre ordered both The Evil Within and Shadow Warrior at the exact same time. Both games had $10 pre order bonuses. I received one already through the mail. When I went to pick up The Evil Within the sales rep said that the $10 gift card would be sent through the mail. To my understanding I thought that one was the instant one that I should have received in store. I have not received my copy of Shadow Warrior yet because it doesn't come out until tommorrow. My question is does a gift card comes with Shadow Warrior tommorrow or did I get screwed out of a gift card.

    Hello D14Life,
Welcome to the Best Buy forum!
After using the email address you registered with the forum to review your order history, I believe that I can help answer your questions.  The pre-orders you placed on BestBuy.com for The Evil Within and Shadow Warrior were eligible for a free $10 Best Buy gift card; however, there was a limit of one gift card per browser session.  That basically means there was a limit of one free gift card per BestBuy.com order.
The $10 Best Buy gift card that you received in the mail recently was for your The Evil Within pre-order.  Being that both games were pre-ordered under the same BestBuy.com order, a second $10 gift card may not be shipped.  You would have wanted to pre-ordered Shadow Warrior by placing second separate BestBuy.com order, which would have resulted in a second $10 Best Buy gift card to be shipped to your home.
I would like to go over your Shadow Warrior pre-order with you before it is fulfilled to ensure the information associated with it is accurate, so I will be sending you a private message.  To check your private messages, you will want to login to the forum and click on the yellow envelope at the top of the page.
Thank you for posting and enjoy your new games!

  • Money taken away from Gift Card

I tried placing an order on BestBuy.com for $21.91 and when I tried to place the order I got a gift card billing issue. When it reloaded the order page showed the wrong gift card balance. So I went to check my balance of the card it was at $1.67. I lost $21.97 and my order did not go through. I tried to call and was on the phone for 10 minutes and got transfered to an non vaild extension.

    Hello jac522,
That's no good! Placing an order online should be a quick and easy process, so it's disheartening to learn of situations where things might not have gone as smoothly as they could have.
In the event an order cannot be completed and a gift card is provided as payment, we're generally able to refund that gift card within 2-3 business days. This process is automatic, requiring no action on the customer's part, so I'd encourage you to keep tabs on your gift card's balance over the next few days. In some situations, our post-purchase support team may also recommend cancelling the original gift card and issuing a replacement to ensure the purchaser does not encounter similar difficulties with their next order.
While we aren't able to expedite the refund process, I'd invite you to send me a private message if your gift card has not been refunded by the end of the week -- I'd be glad to look into the situation on your behalf at that time. To send me a PM, simply sign into the forum and then click on either the link in my signature below or the letter icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

  • Why can't I move an iTunes gift card?

I just got our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center into Apple computers and tablets two years ago (Dec 2011) and I'm beginning to wish I hadn't. Here's the latest "policy" problem with Apple I've encountered.  We have 10 Apple computers and 14 Apple tablets (iPads) and I've created unique Apple IDs for each device. When I upgraded the software on the Apple computers I had to assign my PERSONAL credit card to the account long enough to order the Mountain Lion upgrade and then I immediately removed my credit card from the account. I didn't like doing it because all of our students know the Apple ID and password for each computer so there was an exposure but I lived with it. However, it would be MUCH better (and SAFER for me), if I could order the upgrades for the desired Apple IDs, using my personal Apple ID account. I keep hoping Apple will hire some smarter people that might see the flaw in their current policy and change it.
Now, onto the latest policy problem. As part of teaching the iPads, I wanted to have a song on each iPad, purchased from the iTunes store. You already know my concern with assigning my PERSONAL credit card to an Apple ID account created for our computers so I really didn't want to follow that procedure in order to purchase a song for each iPad. My solution was to buy a $25 iTunes gift card. I could then apply the gift card to the first iPad Apple ID, purchase the desired song, then remove the gift card from that Apple ID and apple the gift card to the next Apple ID. That way, our maximum monetary exposure is whatever the balance is on the gift card rather than my available credit on my PERSONAL credit card. Sounded like a much safer plan than having to enter my PERSONAL credit card information on each Apple ID for all of our iPads.
Now, we encounter the latest DUMB Apple "policy".  It was really easy to redeem the Apple gift card on the first Apple ID. I scratched off the label to reveal the code, entered it into iTunes, and was able to purchase a song for that Apple ID. Now, all I had to do was to remove that code from that Apple ID and move it to our other Apple IDs in order to purchase the remaining songs. The iTunes gift card balance would follow it, just like gift cards you purchase anywhere else.
I went into the account for the first iPad in order to remove the gift card but was unable to find out how to do it. I went into Apple Support and sent an email, asking how I could remove the iTunes gift card from the current Apple ID and move it to the next Apple ID. I just received a reply back this morning from Aaron: The BAD NEWS, currently, once you redeem an iTunes gift card on an Apple ID, you can't remove it from that Apple ID!!!  I'm now stuck with an iTunes gift card with a balance of something over $23 and I'm unable to use it to purchase the other songs for each of our other iPads! I have no reason to purchase anything else from iTunes for that Apple ID so our SeniorNet Computer Learning Center is OUT the remaining balance on the iTunes gift card!
Apple needs to CHANGE this policy, IMMEDIATELY!!!

It says, cannot complete transaction, contact iTunes support.  When I contact iTunes support it leads nowhere specific.

  • Can I set up a new account with only a gift card?

My sister just got her first ipod and a gift card to the itunes store. It appears she needs to set up an itunes account in order to use the gift card. In the process it is looking for a credit card or paypal info - neither of which she has. Is it possible for her to set up the account only with the gift card as the method of payment?
    Thanks!

    Log out from any account
    Redeem your music card
Now choose to create a new account (Don't try to start by creating a new account in 1st place)
If you do it that way you are allowed to discard CC details
