Precalculation Service issue in BI 7.0 after SP13

Wondering if anyone experienced this problem with the precalc service after applying SP13. We recently applied SP13 and eversince our scheduled workbooks do not run anymore. Seems that the jobs gets kicked at the specified time, it gets queued up in the precalc open queue and continues to run and run and run but would not send the email to the recipients. However, when I go into SM12 and delete the lock entry then the report would be sent out. Also, when trying to execute the workbook using the BEx Web Broadcaster, it would just hang then time out.
Has anyone seem this problem before and if so, what was the solution?

Yes! We just applied SP 13 and are experiencing the EXACT same problem when attempting to precalculate BEx Workbooks. The requests show up in the open Queue and hang indefinitely until they are cancelled. However, one or two times I've actually gotten are response and the precalulation has completed. But, I don't know what I did to get this to happen.
I notice that you posted this back in November. Have you made any progress since then? If so, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

"No Service" issue after updating iOS 8.1

I have similar problem but with a 6:   bought new iPhone 6 four days ago, phone and 3G signal were fine in UK from Sat to Mon.   Yesterday, I traveled to Belgium and have had 'no service' problem since.   I am carrying a Nokia feature phone which is locked on to local network and working fine.
If I power off the iPhone and power on, it comes back and joins the network.   Five or so minutes later, it has dropped the network and will not re-attach if I put in/out of flight mode; needs power reset, and then drops again.
It is conceivable that this is a carrier issue but given that Nokia is fine and all the postings that I'm finding on various discussion sites, then I feel that it is an iOS issue.   I'm booked in to visit the Apple Store at the weekend.   My previous iPhone 4S was running iOS 7 and had no such problems.
So, carrying an expensive brick at the moment and hoping for an iOS update that will resolve this.

Unable to reach Target Service issues after receiving message

Hello everyone,
I am working on a demo for my devs/dba at work regarding the use of service broker, why we should start using it, and other fun facts that just go above initial implementation. Part of this demo includes the routing capabilities for cross
instance conversations.
The good news is that I get messages to from Instance A to Instance B. The issue I am having is after receiving the message on Instance B, I send a response back, and that is failing. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why. The error
I am receiving is:
"The target service name could not be found. Ensure that the service name is specified correctly and/or the routing information has been supplied."
In doing research on Google/Bing/Yahoo/Various Forums, the consensus seems to be that this is usually an issue with either A) Remote Service Binding or B) Case Sensitivity when specifying the server. Maybe I have been looking at this code to long,
but I cannot find an issue with either of these as I currently understand them. So, I am looking for help.
Here are the full scripts that I am running. Please note that these scripts are not configured to run all the way through, but in blocks. I apologize for this in advance.

I am using a VM, where I have installed 2 instance of SQL Server 2012 Developer Ed, SP2, CU1. Instance1 is call ServerA. Instace2 is called Server2.

There is an r missing in "Server".
The page on OneDrive has an interesting feature that helped me to find this. I noticed that if I clicked on a word, all occurrences of that word were highlighted. When this did not happen with the service name, something seemed fishy. But I had to copy the
names to a text window and put them above each other to see the issue:

No Service issue even after Iphone Restore

Hi,
I am getting No Service issue on my iPhone 4s. So I restored it in recovery mode by connecting to iTunes. However, there was no luck, the problem persist. Now, I am suspecting that this could be the hardware issue.
My main concern is, 3 years earlier, I bought this device in US and I am in India now. Also the device is out for warranty. I am not sure how do I connect to US support and get this thing repaired or replaced.
Anybody who had done this before?

Yes, the phone unlocked by the carrier before you relocated to India. And I contacted the carrier in India, they replaced my SIM and its working fine with other phone. However with same SIM I am getting No Service on my iPhone.

Install Workbook Precalculation Service

Hello,
I am trying to install the workbook precalculation service locally on my PC, but did not succeed up to now.
I have installed the following on my PC:
- Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
- SAP Gui 6.40 (with extra patches)
- BW Workbook Precalculation Service (downloaded via the SAP Marketplace)
Allready installed:
- Windows XP
- Microsoft Excel 2000
After these installations I created a 'precalculation server' via transaction rsprecadmin.
Then I tried to start the service, but it was only started and then immediately stopped afterwards.
So although all installations seem to be done successfully, I did not succeed in starting this feature.
Could anyone give me any idea what I might do to get it right?

Hi Jan,
Sorry to not have been of help so far. If I understand correctly, the actual service on your PC is the source of the issue(?) If that's the case, and if the service dies soon after you start it, you may need to check that the UserID is OK to start services. Otherwise, you may just need to reinstall the program.
If the error is on the SAP side, you may want to confirm the SM59 connection - PREC_TH_PRECALC I think - to test communications.
Otherwise, this sounds like an issue for SAP Support!

Precalculation service

Hi guys,
I have installed precalculation service on a dedicated server. We are using BW 3.5 and I have installed the precalculation service version called: BWAPSERV12.
Well actually it works fine, but when it comes to the scheduling, I have some problems. When I schedule a job to run f.ex. every day at 6am it runs fine the first morning, but the following morning it doesn't run. When checking the status in RSPRECADMIN, the status is 'red'. I can then stop/start the service again, but the same issue follows at the next 2. run in the schedule... Any ideas?

WLAN AutoConfig Service crashes 3 or 4 times after you first login after rebooting?

My lenovo came with windows vista - I upgraded to 7 when I got a chance. I have W7 Professional. I have all the Lenovo drivers installed except access connections. I don't like the tool. Anyways, Windows manages my wireless adapter. I have the weirdest issue -- right after I login after rebooting, the service "WLAN AutoConfig" crashes 3 or 4 times in sucession any time something tries to access the net. If you restart it enough times, it eventually stays up and never crashes again until you reboot. Also, the fancy aeropeek stuff crashes too. The task bar becomes non-transparent. That eventually recovers as well.
I have another t61 thru my work running w7 and it doesn't have this issue. The difference between the two of them is mainly that it has the intel based wifi card instead of the atheros based one.
In the event log, I see:

IPhone 5 No Service Issue

I posted this in the ATT forums but haven’t heard back. Thought I would give it a shot here.
Short story – has anyone with an iPhone 5 had “No Service” issues with ATT and been able to fix it?
Long story – A couple of months ago they upgraded the towers to LTE and now the service is horrible. Whenever my phone switches between LTE, 4G, and E it goes No Service first. It is constantly switching so I cannot complete a phone call lasting longer than a minute. It will also sit in No Service for extended periods since the tower upgrade. I am the only one in the house with an iPhone 5. The other phones are not experiencing this issue.
Has anyone had a similar problem? How did you fix it?
I have called multiple times. I have emailed. I have chatted. I have received no help on this issue. A member of my family plan called them yesterday about this issue. They said they would call me back on her phone at 7 to troubleshoot my phone. They never did call.
Additionally, I have other problems since the “upgrades.” The data usage is way off. I have used a data counter and ATT is claiming I’m using considerably more than my counter shows. I have tried to get credits for this but they say we will give you credits after we fix the phone. They never fix the phone though so I never get the credits. It’s like some weird Kafkaesque Catch-22.
I am really so sick of the whole situation that I just want to switch to a different carrier. I don’t want the cancellation fees though and I want to port my numbers. I would think I wouldn’t be subjected to the fees because the service doesn’t work, but I’m sure there is some weird catch to that as well.

Since you didn't tell what troubleshooting steps you took, if any, do the followning steps:
1. Reset phone (no data loss): press both home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
3. Replace SIM card from AT&T
4. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup.
6. Warranty service from Apple.

Urgent-Precalculation Service: Unable to create instance

Gurus,
I did install the SAP BW Precalculation Service on my desktop and did configure the Precalculation Service under SPRO->Administrate Precalculation Server. And after all that, whenever I started the Precalculation Server (via services) from the desktop the server at the BW end used to turn green. Until here everything was working a week back BUT! I got on to it again today and when I try and start the service on my desktop, I get the following error:
<b>Application has generated an exception that could not be handled
Process id=0xefc (3836), thread id=0X84c(2124).</b>
And when I try to uninstall (hoping I could re-install), I cannot even uninstall the same instead I get a different error:
<b>Unable to create an instance of the com.sap.bi.et.precalcultion.BExPrecWindowsService.ProjectInstaller installer type.->Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation --> Security error.</b>
Can someone throw light on this please?

Update: is it possible that security rights to the Essbase directory would affect the Query Designer? On a machine that it works on, I've noticed that the "xla" file updates each time it is accessed.

Searching... No service issue west Michigan???

I am in west Michigan and having the same searching, no signal issues only at home at or thru the night. I can always turn off and back on and get a signal temporarily. When I leave home in the morning and head to the lakeshore I have no problems. Have spent hours with both Verizon and apple, after reading thru all of these forums it looks like it is being addressed but as of now 8-2-11 it still is not working. Very frustrated . This iPhone has worked perfectly since feb, it started acting up a week or 2 ago that I noticed.

I just got back from my weekly travels.. I left Holland, MI on Tuesday, drove thru Chicago all the way up to Northern Wisconsin. Drove back home thru the UP down 131 South thru Grand Rapids. Not once during my entire trip did I encounter service issues until I returned back to Grand Rapids. As soon as I went hit downtown GR my phone started searching for service. After 5 reboots and driving back to my home in Holland I was able to once again get and retain service.
This is definitely a issue with West Michigan... Come on Verizon... Get it fixed... I can have service in the North Country of Wisconsin, and in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, but NOT IN GRAND RAPIDS(the 2nd largest city in the state).... FRUSTRATED...

am emailing because I am appalled at the lack of customer service that was provided for me today when I called your 800 number. I called today to speak to someone about an iPad purchase that I wanted to make and I was trying to resolve very basic issues with dropped calls and choppy service. I spoke to a total of five different representatives none of them knew why I was being transferred to them, no notes on the account were being made until I spoke to the last customer service representative. After a total of two hours and eight minutes I was given a $75 credit or compensation for being on the phone. I do not think that it is fair for AT&T as a company to be mistreating your customers this way. My time was not respected! I was NOT treated like a valued customer. I think it's unfair and unexceptabel. I have 3 children under the age of six that I had to neglect for a full two hours so I could be played hot potato with by your representatives. Please direct me to someone who will help. Below

How do I contact Verizon corporate regarding customer service issues?

I'm trying to escalate an issue that I have with customer service and just can't seem to find out how to contact corporate to discuss my issue. I have talked to customer service supervisers and asked them to escalate my complaint. After being told it would be 5-7 days to respond, I'm still waiting. Any help in contacting the right department at corporate would be helpful.

ITunes 10.1 Upgrade on Windows 7, iPod Service issue

I am upgrading from iTunes 10.0.0.68 (64 bit version) to iTunes 10.1 (64 bit version) on my Windows 7. After some time the popup error message reads,
Service 'iPod Service' (Pod Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services
I aborted the installation. Roll back action took place and I am continuing with iTunes
Now when I run iTunes, the message says,
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
I clicked on Yes. Then iTunes application opened with the message "Could not delete service" (the title of the window is 'iPod Service')
How do I fix this problem? I want to upgrade to iTunes 10.1 as I want to upgrade my iPad to iOS 4.2

Now, based on your latest response I did the right-click, install as Administrator. The result unfortunately is the same.
Okay ... let's try a modified version of the instructions from the following document. (The modification is because they aren't precisely accurate for 64-bit systems ... the program files that could potentially be left on your system by the unmodified instructions wouldn't normally be relevant to an iPod Service issue, but you're getting a relatively rare variation on iPod Service trouble. So, just in case ...)
If you get any error messages during any of the uninstalls, deletions or reinstalls, note down what they say and post back with the precise text, please.

When you get to *step 9* of the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, proceed instead with the following instructions:

Note: If you have a 64-bit version of the Windows OS, continue with step #10. Otherwise, skip to step #17.
(10) Open the Program Files (x86) folder.

(21) Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
(22) Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Now restart the PC and try another iTunes reinstall.

Hyperion Shared Service issue ( Urgent)

Please help anyone who knows this issue..
Hyperion Shared Service is not getting up.When I tried to do manual start of service on the server it stops after some time..I tried to connect to database and I was able to connect.
Please let me know what else I need to do to resolve this issue.
Version is 9.3.1

I start Shared Service from the start menu ->Administrative Tool -> services.
I checked Event log file and found below message after the service stops.
*"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( HyS9SharedServices ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service stopped".*

As a testing purpose long time back i did this. I did this step by step
I installed SCOM 2007R2 with SQL server 2008 with SP1 initially.
Then upgraded to 2008 SP2.
Then upgraded to 2008 SP3
Then upgraded to 2008 R2.
Then upgraded to 2008 R2 SP1
Finally to SP2
I dint find any issue.
I just kept on adding service packs upon each other. Except for upgradation to 2008 to 2008 r2 i used the installation media then the SP1 & SP2 files. to upgrade to service packs.
If you want to go to directly SP2 i would suggest you install SP1 and then install SP2.
Every thing is fine in the LAB equipment i tried this.
