Prepopulating dropdown list on server side

We are preparing a PoC for a potential customer and they want to see how to prepopulate a dropdown list on server side. We found some useful samples from internet. But all of them are using roughly same method: get data from database and populate into a hidden text box then populate into dropdown list by javascript. But when I compare this solution with other LiveCycle utilies I believe that there must be another simple method. (Maybe came with ES2 so there is no documentation on internet yet. ) So we decided to consult you? Do you have any suggestions?

Directory listing server side

Hi,
I am looking to provide a list of files. These files exist on the application server (it is actually the image directory i wish to list). I have had a look at the package text_io which can read and write files to the server side, but there doesnt seem to be a way to list files.
Does anyone here know a way of doing this. I cannot do it via the database as the database and App server will exist on different boxes

As you have probably found out there is no native functionality to do this within PL/SQL Another alternative to those already suggested is to use JAVA

Pb Server-Sides inludes + Dynamic List Wizard with PHP 5.2

I include some Dynamic Lists in a master page with Server Side Include beahavior.
It was Ok in PHP 5.1 with any number of items (50 items per page).
But there is problem with PHP 5.2, it's OK with 20 items per page, nothing is displayed with 50 items per pages.
I've seen that there is a new memory manager for the Zend Engine with PHP 5.2...
SO I modified some parameters in php.ini (memory_limit...) with no result.
Is there somebody have the same problem, an idea ?

I´m running PHP 5.2.2 with the Zend Memory Manager enabled as well, and so far I didn´t encounter such issues -- maybe you´ll just need to increase the currently defined "max_execution_time" value ?

Filtering values in a dropdown list box

In the BSP application CRM_IC, we want a drop down list box to be filled based on the entry selected from another dropdown list box. We have all the entries for the second drop down box in ABAP internal table .However, we do not want a server round trip to happend in doing so. Thus we have used the attribute 'Onclientselect' and we are trying to call a java script function call on this event to filter this ABAP internal table . In this function, we would like to fill the contents of the second dropdown list box after reading the contents of the first dropdown list box. Please advice us as to how this can be achieved. Basically, we observed that ABAP server side script is not executed in the java function.

contents of two drop down list boxes.

The selection in listbox ddlbxSystemEquipNum, which I
will call "A", determines the contents of listbox
ddlbxModuleEquipNum, which I will call "B".
I use a JavaScript array to shadow the ABAP internal
table containing the possible values for listbox B.
When the page is initially displayed, listbox B is
populated from the ABAP internal table.
When a new selection is made in listbox A, I use the
onClientSelect event to call a JavaScript function,
updateModuleList(), to update the contents of listbox B
from the JavaScript shadow array based on the selected
value in listbox A.

Error while saving a workflow via sharepoint designer: Server-side activities have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.

While saving a workflow using SharePoint designer on a SharePoint site, I get the following error:
Server-side activities have been updated. You need to restart SharePoint Designer to use the updated version of activities.
Steps to recreate error:
Login to the WFE server hosting IIS and workflow manager, open SharePoint Designer 2013 and login to a SharePoint site.
Access the list using SharePoint Designer 2013, in the workflow section, click new workflow.
In the new workflow dialog, enter workflow details, click save (see screenshot below).
Error message is displayed as below:
After restarting SharePoint Designer, the saved workflow is not seen in the site/workflows or list/workflow section.
Workaround
When the above steps are repeated while accessing the site via SPD from any other box besides the WFE/Workflow manager host server, the error is not encountered and its possible to save/publish workflows.
Notes
Workflow Manager 1.0 is installed.
The site has been registered with Workflow manager using Register-SPWorkflowService
cmdlet.

Can anyone tell me how to display months and year in a dropdown list on a selection screen?
also please tell me how to get the first and the last dates upon selecting the month and year on the dropdown list.
Month: January Year:2007 .
After selecting the required month and year, the first date and last date i.e '01.01.2007 - 31.01.2007' should be displayed on the right side.

How to use server-side classes in a web service proxy client ?

Greetings,
I'm using WebLogic 10.3 with Workshop 10.3 on Windows. I generate a Web Service client in Workshop. There are two options in the New->Others->Web Service category: ClientGen Web Service Client and Web Service Client. I've chosen the second one as it's a JAX-WS Web Service and I think that the first one (ClientGen Web Service is to be used with JAX-RPC Web Services. The proxy is generated but, since the Web Service is using POJOs as parameters, a new version of these POJOs is also generated. For example, my Web Service has an operation like: public OrderStatus putOrder (Order), where OrderStatus and Order are application scoped POJOs. The proxy generation process generates a _PortType class which is supposed to be used by the calling client. This class defines an operation public OrderStatus putOrder(Order), but the OrderStatus and Order classes aren't the original ones but the generated ones. The issue is that these generated classes aren't completely equivalent to the original ones, for examples all lists become arrays, the constructors are different, etc. This is extrememly annouying. Is there any option to say to the proxy generation process to keep with the server-side classes ?

The only solution to this problem seems to be using dynamic proxies. But it doesn't work neither as the following code:

When creating a workflow I receive this error, I have uninstalled SPD I have cleared/deleted cache files in the following locations:

In my case the solution to this problem was the following. I discovered that the contents of <user profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache\<sitename>\<version> was empty aside from Activity.xml for the website in question. This directory
should actually download the following list of files from the server in order for the workflows to operate in SPD. This is not the case when things go wonky.

How to extract data from xml field to dropdown list?

I have designed a form and connected to a SQL server database using a web service. The XML data retrieved from wsdl connection is currently hold in a text field called 'XMLfield'. I need to extract the data such as 'PersonnelName' from XMLfield into a dropdown list. I used the following code and I do not get any error, but nothing come up and all my fields in the forms become bank when i click the dropdown list.
I would appreciate it if anyone can help me with this issue.

Hi Roya,
I think the loadXML will override your form data, so blanking out your fields. You could try loading the xml data at the xfa.datasets level (that is xfa.datasets.loadXML(form1.XMLfield.rawValue,0,1);) or using E4X to process the XML.
Another option though might be more rework is to use the Acrobat SOAP api which will return you a JavaScript object so you wont have to do any XML work.

Not All Items Appearing In Dropdown List

You have a newbie here. I am trying to populate a dropdown list in a JSP with the following code, but not all the records are being displayed (approximately 4900 records are displayed). The Submit button that follows this Select tag is not being displayed, nor are any error messages being encountered. The last Option tag is incomplete. Any clues?

You have 4900+ records?? I'd say there was some exception being thrown somewhere, either you're running out of memory or something. Your response isn't coming completely which indicates that your output was interrupted but since it had been committed, the server couldn't redirect to an error page or display the exception or stack trace.
Check your logs, there'll definitely be something there.

Populating dropdown list with entries in multiple text boxes?

I'm creating a form that needs to be simple to use and complete. I would like to be able to populate a drop-down list with entries the user puts into text boxes. Can this be done?
For more detail:
In one location is a table, the use will type into a text box a Project Name, then other information such as location and total acres.
In another location I've got a table where the user will enter the offerings from each project they listed in the 1st table. It is a long table as it is, I cannot combine the two (will not fit on one page if I do combine them).
Instead of making the user type in the project names multiple times, I'd like to be able to take the project names the users input (from table one) and have those entries automatically populate the dropdown list in the second table.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Not exactly a find and replace but you can do it.
Select the text frames yu want to change the colors using the shift key to click select the frames.
Then go to Edit>Edit Color>Recolor Art
You wll see a dialog with red and black bars along side two shorter bars click the shorter bars to select a New Color a color picker will appear you can use the swatches or the color mixer.
There is a live preview /so you will see the change in case you want to pick a different gray, of course you can always go back to the recolor art dialog.
I am afraid you manually have to select text frames with multiple colors in order to accomplish what you want but the method above I believe is the only want to change the colors.
This video shows how the dialog works but pretend the one frame I did not select is another color.

look at tech note N 11545. The subject is different
but you will see how to implement 'anchored'
objects(use proxies) or reference partitions. If your
server object project is a supplier plan to the
client I am afraid you have to redeploy client
whenever you change something on server. So probably
you have to change the way client and server
interact. One or two months ago there was discussion
of how to separate client from server. The subject
was something like how to avoid "bloated clients".

reference your SO's on the server. Any change on the server-side logic won't
require you re-deploy your clients.
But if there is object which will pass from server to client and no matter
what the change is, you will need to re-deployment of your client otherwise,
you will get a "deserialization" error. Bear in mind that Forte deploy all
the code ( like object structure, logic, etc ) to your client during
deployment, only the data get passes through. Hence, if there is any change
in an object that will copy from server to client, you have to update the
"code" in your client too, that means, re-deploying your client. The only
way to get arround this is to "anchore" your object to the server, so that
your client only gets a proxy of the object. As long as you are adding in
new things, I guess it ok. But there is a lot of issues following "archored"
object.
