Presenter PPC File Disappears

I am an Adobe Presenter V6.0.432 Build 432 user. On numerous
occasions when I publish my PowerPoint to Presenter it can not find
the .ppc file even though it is in the correct directory. From the
resulting pop-up window I Browse to the .ppc file and Presenter
still can not find it. My only option is to either pick the delete
recordings option, or return to PowerPoint. What is even stranger
is that on some occasions Presenter removes the .ppc file from my
PC. So in summary the .ppc file is present before publication and
after I try to publish Presenter deletes the file.
Has anyone run into this? If so what is the cause for this
strange intermittent behavior?
Thank you.

The PPC is actually deleted from the C drive. All
announcements are gone and all synchronizations are gone. You are
left with a just a PowerPoint file. Sometimes I can recover from a
backup. The core document came to me from another developer in my
company. He used PowerPoint for the slides and Presenter to mock up
the questions. He did not have the narrations recorded at the time,
so there was no audio. He just sent me the PowerPoint file and not
the PPC file.
I then added all the questions and saved and a PPC file was
created. I split the 60 slide presentation into five presentations
by doing Save As and deleting all unneeded slides and questions.
All went well with this and I had 5 presentations uniquely named
with unique ppc files :).
I added my narrations and all went well initially with the
publication process. When I went to make changes to one of the
slide decks, I received the can not find the PPC file, even though
it was on the drive in the proper location. Pointing to the PPC
file did not help. Once I published the file anyhow it deleted the
PPC file from my hard drive. This happened more then once so I am
quite sure that Presenter deleted the PPC file. So far, I have not
experienced this outside of the initial presentation set.
My recovery has been to re-import the audio and
resynchronize, very time consuming. At times the backup PPC and PPT
files will work. If I am doing something procedurally wrong please
let me know. I have run this past others in my company and they did
not believe it was a procedural problem.
Any help in solving the missing PPC file problem is
appreciated. It is odd that sometimes a file will successfully
publish and other times I run into the above problem.

  • Missing PPC/PPC association - PPC file disappears

I´m pretty sure this question has already been posted in
this forum before. But here it goes:
For some reason my PPC audio files lost their association to
the PPT file. Both files exist in the same folder, and the PPC file
was generated using the Presenter audio recording options in
PowerPoint. However when I try to publish from PowerPoint,
Presenter comes back at me saying "Cannot load recordings. Adobe
Presenter cannot load the recordings for all slides. The recordings
are not in the PPC file". It gives me 3 options: load the
recordings again, continue without audio, and cancel. Browsing to
load the file again does not work, even though I´m selecting
the same PPC file. And when I cancel , the PPC file disappears,
it´s simply erased from the folder.
This issue is documented by Adobe and it still shows as
unresolved, has anyone had the same issue? Have you been able to
    resolve it?
    Any help is certainly appreciated
    Thanks

Granted, when faced with the possibility of having to reimport all your audio can be a total pain, there's another way to approach this that can be much, much easier.
    Here's how:
Open the Import Audio dialog box using Presenter's menu in PowerPoint.  Select your first slide listed in the panel and then click on the BROWSE button.  Once you find the audio files that you'll use for your course, all you have to do is select them all!  As soon as you click "okay" or "open", the net result will be that your files will all appear in the Import Audio dialog box in sequential order.
Okay, so it'll work, but let's talk about a couple of caveats, shall we?
First, it should be obvious that the naming convention of your audio files is EXTREMELY important.  For most projects, the naming convention that I use looks like this:
clientName_projectName_slide#_.wav   or put another way: rc_devPlan_slide31.wav
It doesn't matter if you use 01.wav, 02.wav, 03.wav or slide01.wav, slide02.wav, ect. Just be consistent!
Second, if you have question slides peppered throughout your deck, you may not want (or need) audio for question slides.  So how do you import multiple audio files for slides that are scattered in a deck?
Easy: just select the starting slide that you want to import audio and select the audio you need for that set....then select the next slide (in a series of slides) that you need to import audio for, and select as many wav or mp3 files you need to import in the next batch.
To help make this a bit easier, I just recorded a screencast that outlines the process, and you can see the video at

  • PPC File Size in Present 7

I'm having trouble with a project for a client using
Presenter 7. The client gave me a number of courses in the old
format which we translated into another language. After I finished
the project, I exported the courses to Presenter 5.*/6.*, but the
PPC file size is huge. I changed the quality settings for the audio
format, and that changed the size of the version 7 files, but it
didn't have any affect on the PPC. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Hi,
    >There will huge performance issue when we were sorting this 30MB file..
    why?
this is a simple file - IDOC flow without any BPM
and I assume you can do the sorting inside the mapping
so why do you think there will be any performance issue ?
unless you have dozens of 30 mb files per couple of minutes...

  • Excel and PDF Files disappearing in a DFS Replicated folder

    Hi everyone,
We are currently facing an issue in our environment and we can't figure out why this is happening. We have two scenarios under which files are disappearing in one of the DFS Replicated folders that we have in our environment. Here is a breakdown of our environnment:
We have 4 File Servers Windows Server 2008 R2 Almost Fully Patched (2 Weeks Ago) in Four Different Sites
The servers will be named as follow in the thread: MTL, AMX, PLT, 155
All our sites are linked by site-to-site VPN
We have several DFS Replicated folders but the folder we are currently having problem with is called "Public"
The "Public" folder in all of our server is published in the DFS Namespace as \\domain.com\Public
The data is replicating almost instantly on all of our servers
Our DFS Replication topology is "Hub and Spoke" Our MTL server is the Hub and AMX, PLT and 155 are the spokes
The site where MTL resides have a 100Mbps/100Mbps Fiber Optic WAN Connection
The site where PLT resides have a 10Mbps/10Mbps Fiber Optic WAN Connection
The site where AMX resides have a 10Mbps/10Mbps Fiber Optic WAN Connection
The site where 155 resides have a 230Mbps/30Mbps Cable WAN Connection
The maximum latency between our sites is maximum 100 ms
Our DFS Replication Schedule is from 5AM to 10PM with 8 Mbps Bandwidth Limit
We also have a file locking mechanism that is present on all the servers called peerlock.
We have an Anti-Virus installed on the server MTL but the exceptions were added as per the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822158/
At the moment, we have several issues where file are disappearing. Those are mostly Excel Shared Workbook that are being modified on several servers at the same time. This seems to be cause by having a DFS conflict on multiple servers at the same time (Error
4412) which is causing the file being dropped on the ConflictAndDeleted folder.
Now, since I know I cannot stop the DFSR to put that file in the conflict and deleted folder following a conflict, I would like to know how we can prevent that file disappearing to happen or what are the other alternatives in being able to be able to modify
this file multiple users at once.
Here is the Shared Excel file opening process as I understand it:
Users open the file using Excel (This creates an Open Handle on the file server and locks the file on all DFS Servers. This being done, no other users can open, save, edit the file)
After the file is fully opened on the user's computer, the lock is being removed by Peerlock (Which makes the file available again for opening, editing, saving.
When saving the file, an Open handle is created on the server, which makes the file locked for other users (If the file was not locked in the first place).
This process to me seems to be fairly simple and since we have the locking system, we should not have any problems of the file being different on several servers at once. Also, we saw that the error was mostly happening when one of the following was true:
The file was unshared, modified, then reshared by a user.
    The file contained Links.
We have today disabled the Preview Pane as we saw it might have been the cause of some wrong file locking and file opening.
Thank you very much for your time and for your answers.
    Regards,

    Hi Shaon,
Here are the logs of a replicated non-peerlocked folder in our DFS infrastructure where files have been put into the ConflictAndDeleted. The file name is "Weekly Report did-mm-yyyy.pdf". The 155 and PLT logs are pretty big. I have shared them through
OneDrive. Please let me know if you need anything else and thank you again for taking the time to answer my question.
Here are a couple of things I noticed:
I saw some error messages "The download is redundant" in the PLT log file
I saw some "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." on the logs, even though the user was accessing the Weekly Report form the MTL server.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like when there is a conflict, every server determine that their "Local version dominates" with the "LocalDominate" attribute. Though, this I am not sure.

Application "FINDER"not responding,Desktop files disappeared & " also "Trash" not working svn after relaunching several times.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process (Finder) in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • A few image files disappeared: can't be re-imported from backup

There are at least a 4 dozen pictures imported into LR 5.x last September that now cannot be searched and which are not in the dated folder where they should be - even if searched in Windows Explorer. It's part of an event, and it appears to be all those on one card from one body. I remember seeing these images in the Library module at the time. No Previews with question marks.
If I go to the duplicated import created that day I find the "missing" images in the folder created at that time. Yea Adobe for creating the easy back-up for importing. In this backup folder the images can be searched and opened in either Windows Explorer or a viewer like FastStone. .  If I put the files into the date-organized database folder (to "Synchronize" in the main directory) LR says it cannot import them as they are already part of the database. I tried copying these files in Explorer to a different hard drive and tried importing again: no help.
How can I convince LR that these need to be re-imported? More importantly, can anyone offer a scenario by which these image files disappeared from the disk and didn't leave a preview with a question mark? I didn't actually do any work (Dev module) that I remember on these. I certainly can go through with Bridge and batch rename this little set and present them again  as an import request. But what causes something to drop out of the DB and disappear as a file? Obviously some kind of operator error is the most likely, I understand.
Deleting all Previews? Seems like that would make the machine work for hours to redo Previews for 90,000 pix.

Thanks for the suggestions (and warnings). I am pretty experienced with Lightroom and know the structure behind it. What was weird here was that when I try to bring one of the images back in through Synch or Import, says "It's already part of the database" BUT when searching for the image by file name LR finds others that share the same file number (not strange) but NOT the image I want (strange). This search was performed at the root of the file/folder structure, so should be looking into every folder in the database. An Explorer search shows that the image is no longer in the database folders. It is only found in the "Backup" folders created by LR when ingesting the card at the original import.
OK, so use the OS to move some of the files (12) back "inside" the folder, click Synch folder and it tells me there are 12 new photos. So far so good. BUT -- although they are now "there" in the folder and re-imported they still do not show up in the Library thumbnail view and can't be searched in Lightroom (by file name). The 12 didn't show up on a import screen with one lone PS image in that batch that was newly created this afternoon and DID show as a new import. I expected to see the 12 on that screen.
To answer one question offered today: No, the images do not show in the Develop module.
So something tells Lightroom these are not new and that they are aready there. However, not searchable.
Next step changing the names of the offending file, like appending a letter. See if that makes them look "new".
I think I can fix this as long as I have to original CR2 files unprocessed, which thankfully, I do. Anyone have a theory about what causes this? Never had it happen.

  • Audio (PPC) File Size

Hello. We have been working with Adobe Presenter to create
presentations/lectures which we ultimately upload to our University
Adobe Connect server. We have been seeing some very annoying
problems with the size of the audio (PPC) file.
On one system, I recorded a lecture that had 60 slides and 60
minutes of audio. The PPC file size is roughly about 30MB.
On another system, I recorded 18 slides with 23 minutes of
audio. The PPC files size is roughly 130MB.
I then took the 2nd presentation I created (130MB) and
attempted to split it into two presentations to get smaller lecture
sizes. I did this via Adobe Presenter and PowerPoint. I cut the
presentation into two presentations, A and B. I then had 2 audio
(PPC) files per part (A & B). The very strange thing was that
the size of the PPC file for each of them (130MB) was the same as
it was when they were combined (130MB). I would think it should
have been less, roughly half but it stayed identical. If I looked
at the audio for part A and then for part B via the 'Audio Editor'
it showed just their audio (so half the minutes as the original)
but why is the size of the audio file the same as the combined
    version?
One both the systems I am using to create/record these
presentations, I am running Windows XP with Office 2003. Also, on
each system, the audio quality level is the same.
Please let me know what you think. I appreciate the help.
    Bob Schell
    University of Colorado Denver

    Bob,
I would guess that the file size has mostly to do with the
audio file that was used and what it's recording quality setting
    was.
In the end does the PPC file size cause any problems? The
audio may be in WAV format which is good quality but large. When
published the audio is converted to MP3 so the file size should
    drop.

  • _All_ Files Disappeared in After Effects!

CS3 After three days of work over the weekend, I was loaded a AE project back on a USB drive so I could take it back to work with me tomorrow. The piece is a 35 second animation...maybe two or three dozen layers. (The strange thing is that the last comp which I exported was over a gig in size.) The transer to the USB drive was going slowly, so I canceled it.
Much to my surprise, all...I repeat...all of the files disappeared. All the project had was a name in AE...no files...no timeline...no nuthin'.Like I have just created a new project. The project remembers that it used files in the File/Open Recent Files but there is no trace of the timeline
Is there a way of retreiving a previously saved version? Help! Got to get this done for a major presentation. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply.
It seems I did not make myself clear. I was not using a USB stick drive. I was using an external hard drive which was connected by an USB connection. I have two external hard drives which I use. One is a normal external hard drive with an USB connection. The other hard drive is a USB docking station into which I can put various hard drives.
You mention the possibility of an autosave version. Do you know where these might be found? I have looked and there is no obvious location.
I have never lost _all_ files in a video editing project.

  • Unable to save Photoshop files in original folder: file disappears

    Hi,
At random moments when I'm saving layered Photoshop CS5 files, a message pops up with the following text:
Could not save "\...\FileName..." because the file is locked or you do not have the necessary access privileges. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.
Well the strange thing is that I'm the administrator, the only user of this PC and even when I set/check the properties of the folder containing the files this continues to happen. What is even more disturbing is that I have to save my file as a new file in a new location and when I check the original file, it is no longer in it's original folder.
I save all my files to the local HD and I use an external device to backup my files. I regularly get notices on my backup device telling me that various files were deleted, but will be kept until I need the room. These are files which I did not delete, they are files which I'm still working on.
I'm having to save to the original job folder first, save to the desktop when I get the notice saying I can't save, and then save back into the original folder when I can't save on the desktop anymore because of the same error message. I sometimes get a similar Adobe error message which is basically along the same lines, but I haven't noted the exact text yet.
Recently I closed a file which I had saved and when I needed to return to it, it was nowhere on my computer. I'm very organised about file saving, so it's not a matter of saving files in the wrong place.
I no longer run my back up continuously while I'm working because while it's great to have the peace of mind that I'm regularly backed up, my files can get up to 2GB in size and I think the backup running at the same time is slowing Photoshop processes down, so I most often pause it until I take a break. On this occasion, I had been running it while working (smaller file) and so I was able to retrieve an earlier version from my backup which saved me from having to re-do the job completely. I didn't get this problem when I was using CS5 on Vista, it's been since I've been using Windows7 and my back up drive.
I only recall having had this problem with PSDs, but that could just be because these files can take up to ten hours to complete and there's a higher chance of getting an error message over a longer period of time.
It doesn't happen very often by there has been the very rare occasion where two versions of exactly the same file have been visible in the original job folder (same name on both files). To check if files are where they're supposed to be or if they seem to exhist, I have to close the job folder and re-open it.
I'll disconnect my back up drive while I'm working and see how it goes. It's not ideal, but probably worth a try.
I don't know if there's a connection, but occasionally windows randomly sticks a lock on zipped folders which I create, regardless of the permissions I apply to the upper level folder they sit in.  I'm told by a friend that it won't affect other people accessing these zipped folders from other machines. I don't know if that's the case, I always change the zipped folder's permission to include 'Users' and that makes the lock disappear.
I will run this file disappearance thing by Microsoft, but I thought I'd run it buy you guys first in case you can shed any light on it.
Meanwhile here are my specs. If you have any suggestions on how I can boost my computer's performance for large format print work in Photoshop I'd be happy to know. It's not bad now, but faster is always more pleasant:
    DELL XPS 730X
Total amount of system memory 6.00 GB RAM
    System type 64-bit operating system
    Number of processor cores 4
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz
    Memory: (RAM) 6.00 GB
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Gaming graphics: 3323 MB Total available graphics memory
Primary hard disk: 302GB Free (451GB Total)
    Single hard disc, no partitions.
Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium.
    Thank you,
    Charlie

A great first chapter Charlie. Can't wait for the rest of the book.
The only time I've had anything like this happen, was in a new build after hooking the drives from the old system, but the permissions really were screwed up, and it was a straight forward fix. Is the machine networked perhaps? The files open in another app? I expect you answered this already somewhere in your forum equivalent of War & Peace. ;-) The lads on the Premiere Pro hardware forum can be disparaging about Dell and HP machines, saying their proprietary hardware and software are inaccessible, so I wonder if it is something along those lines.
I’d definitely unhook the second drive as a starting point, or at least double/treble check its permissions.
The only other thing I can think of is changing the state of ‘Save as to original folder’ in Preferences > file handling, but this is all very tenuous and straw clutching.

  • How to schedule the background job if report have Presentation server files

    Hi All,
I have searched the forums and found , the way for the scheduling the background job if report selection screen have the presentation server file input.
    1. Using the Open data set method.
And my client is not OK with Open dataset way, it there any other way to do this, As we are using the EXCEL file.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Bharani

    Hi,
As said above it is generally not possible. Since your client most obviously doesn't like graphical background I would recomend storing data as till now, but show it with your own report in more userfriendly way. For example:
    - as ALV Grid
    - in excel with use of OLE either as embedded in SAP or new window (check transaction OLE for example)
    - with use of webdynpro

  • Files disappear when creating a new folder

I'm new to mac....got a macbook this week. I'm in Iraq so I have very limited access to anything. No internet for my mac at the moment...so I can't update even if there are ones. I assume I have the currenct version of everything though. The question...
While switching over my files I decided to reorganize them. I'm working on my external HD and creating many new folders for all my files. On numerous occasions now (4) I have created a new file the standard way...right click>new>file...then named it. On these occasions I have done this it has renamed the previous file I had worked in (even though it was not selected) and then the contents of the file disappeared. This leaves me with the new file I created and another identical file of the same name...now with nothing in it. Some of my files I have backed up, but the last one deleted many videos that I didn't. Happens randomly at no particular time. If I select the file and view its contents often it will briefly change its name back to the original name, but still nothing in it. Then next selection of anything will switch it back. Have not been able to fine the files anywhere. Tired of losing my files. Any ideas??? Thanks.

Hi Craig and Welcome to Apple Discussions....
First of all, thank you for all you are doing. It's so appreciated! Just be safe and come home soon.
Now... I have a feeling your external hard drive is the culprit. Read here:
    Changing the names of items
You can easily change the name of a file, folder, or disk on your computer.
IMPORTANT: To avoid problems using Mac OS X or applications on your computer, don't move or change the names of folders that came with your system (such as the Library folder or your home). You should also not change the names of applications or items associated with specific applications. If you accidentally change the name of an installed item and you experience problems, you can change the name back.
Locate the item you want to rename on your desktop or in a Finder window.
Click the item to select it, then click the name. The name is highlighted and you will be able to edit it.
Type the new name and press Return.
Some document names have a file extension, such as ".txt" or ".jpg." If you change the name of a file and delete the extension, some applications may no longer recognize the file. To ensure the file can be recognized by the application that created it, change only the part of the name that comes before the extension, or open the file using the appropriate application, then save the file with a new name.
You cannot change the name of an item in the Finder window's sidebar. You must locate the item on your desktop or in a Finder window to highlight and change the name.
    And more here:
Getting information about files and folders
You can view and modify information about files, applications, and volumes in the Info window. This information can include:
Comments that Spotlight can search on
Who can view and modify the item.
The applications that can open it.
Metadata that describes a file's contents and how it was created. For example, a photo's Info window may contain the picture's dimensions, exposure time, and the make and model of the camera.
To see information for one or more items, select the items and choose File > Get Info. An Info window opens for each selected item.
To see a summary of information about several items, select the items then hold down the Control key as you choose File > Get Summary Info. A window summarizes information on all selected items, including their total size.
To see information about each item as you select it, select one of the items then hold down the Option key as you choose File > Show Inspector. An Inspector window displays information on the selected item. When you select another item, the Inspector's contents are replaced with information on that item.
I realize that's a lot to digest and your time might be limited. This is something that only takes a few minutes and might help immediately.
Go to MacintoshHD/Applications/Utilities and locae Disk Utility. Launch DU, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left and then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Depending on the size of your drive, it should only take a few minutes. When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility from the Menu.
Here's how to find out exactly which Mac OS you are running. Click the Apple logo top left of your screen then click, About This Mac. A pane will open. Just under "Mac OS X" will be the version number. ie., 10.4.x
Reboot your MacBook and see if this helps.... I'm retired and have time... if you need one on one help e-mail me: [email protected]
It's the least I can do

  • I tried to rename a file, it gave me an error message (can't remember the number - 43??) and then the file disappeared from the original folder. When I do a search, the file comes up under the new name, but it does not show a path, and even though preview

I tried to rename a file, it gave me an error message (can't remember the number - 43??) and then the file disappeared from the original folder. When I do a search, the file comes up under the new name, but it does not show a path, and even though preview shows the contents, I can't open the document (Powerpoint) and I can't move the document. I tried "Copy" and paste but it doesn't work. I tried "Share" with Airdrop and iChat, but the file is inaccessible. When i try to rename the file, it says the filename is too long.
When I try to open it, it says the alias is not good, and asks if I want to fix the alias. I'm afraid to do that and lose all access to this document.
Right now, it feels like a ghost document - it is on the computer intact, but it is in an undisclosed location and inaccessible.
    Please help!!

I was able to resolve this by repairing permissions, even though no permissions error was listed specifically for that file.
I could also have recovered it through Time Machine, but I'm interested in knowing how not to have this happen again!
I was afraid of rebooting and possibly losing track even of the ghost.
I did not try EasyFind - I'll keep that in mind next time.
    Thanks for all the comments.

  • Deleted Files disappeared from external drive but space is still occupied ( iMac )

    Hello all...
    I have this problem.
Whenever I delete items from my external hard drive, using iMac (running mavericks), the files disappear from the drive window but their space will be still occupied. if i format the drive using my mac, everything will disappear & the whole drive capacity would be available for use.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Luk

Unless you empty the trash while the external is attached, the files will remain in the trash. You will gain back your space after you empty it.

  • Mac Os 10.8.2 file Disappear !

    Hi every body,
i downloaded Mac OS 10.8.2 from AppStore and it was Ok... the file was about 4.5GB, and i installed it and i am now running 10.8.2..
The probelm is : After downloading and installing it, the file DISAPPEARed ! ... i searched it every where .... No file found...
Although, before downloading it, i read that "i can install it for many machineS" ....
    What is the problem ??
    Thanks for any help

1--> is there a way to recover it now from my Hard disk ??...
Not one that I would bother with. Data recovery is a tricky thing, as deleted files can be overwritten, which destroys them utterly. An installer as big as this one is almost certainly not still intact after using the computer for a little while.
2--> when downloading it from another machine. do i have to pay again ?!
No, you simply log in to the App Store using the same Apple ID you purchased Mountain Lion with and re-download from your Purchased list.

  • Why do my pls files disappear when doubleclicked?

Someone asked me how to make an alias of a streaming radio station that they could just click, have it open iTunes and play.
While experimenting I found I could drag the radio station off the iTunes playlist to the desktop and it would create a URL. Doubleclicking the URL usually opened a browser, went to the site and downloaded a .pls file to the desktop. Doubleclicking that file opened iTunes and started playing the station.
Fine, I thought, I'll just rename the .pls file and use that as an alias to quickly get to the station. But alas, the .pls file disappears from the desktop once clicked, even if renamed and/or put into a folder.
I explained what I did to the person who originally asked and they were able to rename the files and not have them disappear on their Mac like mine did. Both of us are using 10.4.11.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Try showing the import options and make sure the crop option you want to use is one that is not grayed out.
