Presets in Logic Headache

Okay, why is that when you copy and paste a preset it loads volume data, but when you save it and then reload it, it does not! People always say logic does everything to the optimum before shipping it, but something this simple just seems so half a**'d.
A feature that I wish that would be inplemented is undo and redo volume data... also When you click on a region it should automatically bring you the the channel strip of that region... During long sessions, it is very easy to mess up fader automation.

That's novel… what is it exactly you want? You mean someone else's expertise at selecting plug-ins? Interesting idea. It might even work if it was restricted to Logic's own facilities.
Have you tried Google?

  • Advice needed on Key Commands presets in Logic

Hi, just upgraded to Snow Leopard and Logic 9 and very happy. Now I'm planning to work more with key commands. While watching many Logic 9 tutorial video's on youtube etc. I find different Logic users seem to work with different (default) key commands. For example: on http://www.youtube.com/user/groove3Inc#p/search/2/BSE3VdlkZJM he's using Ctrl * for 'Capture as recording', while for me the default command is Ctrl Alt Cmd R
    Now my question is:
    1. What is the default / standard key command preset in Logic
    2. Which Key Command preset in Logic would be best to use (also considering that on a different location I sometimes work with Protools)
    3. Which Key Command preset in Logic would be best to use considering the many tutorials I find on the web
Or any other advice / tips on key commands...
    Thanks!

You can easily create your own set of key commands, according to your own needs. I mean, you still can learn some built-in key commands, but you can also change them as you please. Probably, in your case it might make sense to have the same set of key commands for both Logic and Pro Tools, to make life easier.

  • Presets for Logic

    Hi all,
I'm pretty new to logic and I was wondering if there was a good resource to get more presets for it. I mainly use mainstage for live performance in my band and I don't want to spend too much time customizing or learning how to customize logic.
I'm specifically looking for the organ or synth sound used in Walk of Life by Dire Straits and the organs for Fix you by Coldplay.
    Thanks

You do not specify, but I'm guessing that you looked in User>Library>Application Support>Logic and found empty folders.
    Instead, go to HD>Library>Application Support>Logic.

  • Getting logic pro 6 presets into logic pro 7 plugin menus

I have both logic pro 6 and logic pro 7. at one point when i first got logic pro 7 (logic pro 6 already installed) i had a menu in the plugin drop downs for both logic 6 pro and logic pro 7 plugins presets. how can i accomplish this again?

When I did this I just merged the libraries into the 7 directory after deleting dupes with proj man and then aliased this folder for Logic 6. I had 1 folder which both went to at the end of the day, with no duplicates. I was lazy and since I am not a preset guy I just let the V6 files with the same name go to the trash, then copied the folder to the other systems.

  • Pro 88 presets for Logic

I`m having problems getting my M-Audio Pro 88 keyboard to talk efficiently to Logic. All I want to do is utilize the transport controls and maybe a few other knobs and faders.
Does anyone have any ideas (ie where i can download some presets)
    Cheers Parky

I know this is not a ProTools forum... but is there something like this, but the other way around in PT (so you can work with Logic key commands in PT)? Probably not, but it would be nice...

  • Any news on new presets for Logics instruments?

I had heard that the relatively limited presets on all of Logics instruments were going
to be expanded upon. Is there any info on whether this has materialized or not. If
the new EXS instruments are cool that would be great but I sure would like to see more
    presets on the other ones.
So far I am looking forward to getting my copy. I also wonder if installing on the same machine will remove 7.2 or will it be added to rather than over it?.

First of all, there are many new presets in most of the synths. The LP7 presets are often now found in a presets folder called "Legacy Presets" or something similar.
I did find a site with some cool Guitar Amp Pro presets. The site also has synth presets, midi drum files, etc. They're not free, but a lot of the GAP presets do sound good. I have no affiliation with the company making them.

  • HT2375 Lost Mastering Presets In Logic 9

I have lost some of my presets, specifically the master preset 'Special Match EQ 1' and one of 'Telephone ........' and maybe others that I am not aware of.
I have deleted Logic Pro 9 from Applications and reinstalled from the App Store, but they are still missing.
I have the original discs for Logic Studio which I think has all the presets on it in the Jam Pack, but the discs will not run on Snow Leopard.
I have read that I can add files into Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings but where can I get the fies from as I can no longer get them from the origianl install discs.
I am hoping to get the whole lot from somewhere, not just specific ones as I am not sure what others may be missing.
    Any help appreciated.
    Colin

    Hi
The installers *should* run under Snow L, but if you are having issues, you could try using Pacifist to open up the installer package, find the 'missing' items, and simply install those packages.

  • Created a custom sound. How to save this "instrument" as a preset in Logic?

I have created a custom sound using the ES2 plugin and I have added some effects to it. How do I save this new "instrument" as a preset? and can I chose what folder to put it in/create a new one?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chuck

If you want to save an instrument patch together with plugins and so on, you should save it as a channel strip.
Use the channel strip menu at the top of the channel object. There is a defined directory for user channel strips, but you can create folders within it and organise your channel strip settings as you like.
These settings will show up in the channel strip menu, and the media browser too.

  • Theramin preset in Logic (Forbiden Planet Sound)

I beleave there used to be a Theramin setting on ES1 in the old Logic 5, but I could not find it on Logic Pro 7.0.
Has it moved to another Logic synth or is there a setting somewhere that can give me that authentic Tharemin sound.
    Thanks

    > human factor...
Sure, Jord — just like any other emulation — but I found this text that explains why it's not that easy to emulate the theremin sound proper: ...the Electro-Theremin and traditional theremin differ in the tones they produce. The traditional theremin's tone is rich in harmonic content, producing an almost string-like quality in the low to mid registers, and a human soprano-like quality in the upper register. The Electro-Theremin, on the other hand, utilizes a sine wave as its tone.
    http://www.electrotheremin.com/etfaq.htm
By the way: the sample included with the EXS theremax is an actual sample of John Simonton's Theremax theremin kit [Paia Electronics]: in addition to the traditional mellow sine wave tone, Theremax provides a square wave output that is rich in harmonics and ideal for use with external filters and processors.

  • Iptables logic headache .

Hey! So currently, I'm trying to forward a port through a VPN so I can host some services behind a University firewall. Here's my core setup
    Linode VPN-------University Firewall-------Home Server (10.8.0.4)
I'd like to be able to access services on my mobile devices from my Home Server behind the firewall. To do this, I obviously need a VPN. I've set up OpenVPN and I can connect to it just fine and appear to be from the UK (yay BBC iPlayer).
However, I cannot seem to get ports forwarded properly to my home server so that daemons there can be accessed properly. I know you need to do something with iptables and I've tried several things to no avail... Here's the output of iptables -L
    [root@rainbowbrite nimue]# iptables -L

  • Logic presets unavailable

    Hello
So recently I was at a 1 to 1 appointment and was expeirementing with the strings presets in logic 9 (staccato, vabrato, etc)
But when I went on my own computer the presets were not available or even located in my files or in logic.
I was wondering if that is a preset or sample pack i must purchase or if it is an update to logic.
Ps. I use the version of logic that was available in March of 2012. I have not updated it

    Hi
Did you download all the additional content via the Logic Pro menu?

  • Logic express Vocoder presets

    hi
i have noticed while looking at videos on you tube that there is a large amount of presets in logic pros vocoder compared to express. i understand this is more then likely one of the advantages of having pro but is there any way to get the presets for express ?
    thanks

    Hi Jerod,
I tried posting it here but it was too big for the discussion forums. I've created a PDF and put it on my iDisk public folder.
Finder > Go > iDisk > Other User's Public Folder
    User name: Beechside
    Filename: EXS24 Instruments
Hope that helps, though it doesn't say anything about suitability or quality, of course. Then again, there are about 1,500 entries...

  • Previous Logic Presets

I want to recreate a track I made using a previous version of Logic. I used a couple of distinctive presets from the ES2 on, I think, Logic 7, which Im having a hard time replicating. The sounds were not included on recent Logic versions. What is the best way for me to go about getting presets from Logic 7 in my current library?

When I installed Logic 9 is did a full install so it should be there. My ES2 only goes to 13, no legacy presets. I have just moved house and haven't got my Logic DVD with me at the moment but i will get it on the weekend and do what you said.
I can't remember the names of the sounds. The one i really need was in the rhythm section. Just haven't been able to replicate it to my satisfaction!

  • Guitar Presets - Logic Express 7.2

Is there a place that I can get more guitar presets for logic express without having to buy a plugin prgram like Guitar Rig2. Also, I find that the presets in Garageband sound better than the presets in Logic. Is there something I'm missing?
    Intel iMac 1.83   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1gb ram

I don't know of any places to download some, but I do have to agree that I like the sound of the Garageband AMP simulators better than Logic's.
You could check this forum for some.
    http://logicprohelp.com/
Or a trick I like to do is to Bus a clean guitar signal to 3 Aux or Bus tracks, then put amp simulators on all three, then blend them all together to where I like it. I got the idea after reading an interview on how Adam Jones of TOOL made his guitar signal. 3 amps with an SM57, a Sennheiser 421, and another mic that they felt they needed, on each cabinet. Here's the article, it's really good for someone who likes producing and engineering.

  • How to get rid of feedback in logic pro x!?

I am using Logic Pro X, and bought a Behringer small USB Audio Interface to record guitar through it's 1/4 input. However whenever I assign one of the amp configuration presets in Logic, I get crazy feedback. I didn't have this issue at home with my Mackie Onyx-i so I don't know what to do to solve the issue. Thank you!

    Hi, Frank.
Check system preferences and see if your mac's internal speakers are selected.
If so, turn down the volume. I found that plugins like Amplitube or Guitar Rig feedback immediately if my internal speakers were selected instead of my audio interface. You should select the outputs of your audio interface
    Hope this solves your problem
    regards,
